I thought I was going to be original when I put Gene and Melfina...v_v Jk ^_^ Thanks, Dagger. I totally agree with the Touga and Saionji relationship. It's so...different. I have read many fanfic with them in it. Mostly humor or angst. O_o They're rivals, so they have to be the same or complete opposites, so it works. Borderline obsessive...so true... ~Lumi ^_^

I did this when my family was moving because I had no internet connection for like a month and I finished the books on my shelf. It's a desktop background created by 50x50 pictures, plus the edge pics which are on the bottom and right. I believe the right were 50x25. and the bottom ones were 20x50. I realize most of the pics are of the same six, sevn. eight shows, but I could not get online to get more pics. >sighs< Tell me what you think! ^_~ http://luminaire.250free.com/Wallpaper/wallpaper50.JPG ~Lumi ^_^

1. Tsuzuki and Hisoka from Yami no Matsuei. All the way. Though they seem to hate each other, they are a perfect couple. They're so cute together! They go through so much together, it was obvious they loved each other in the end. 2. Melfina and Gene from Outlaw Star. This is such a beautiful love story. I kinda wish they had more about what they did after the series. It seemed as if Gene was using Melfina, and Harry seemed so much nicer at first, but in the end, Gene and Melfina are meant to be together. >wipes away tear< It's so beautiful.... 3. Yuki and Shuichi from Gravitation. I have only seen some of the anime, but I have read the manga. They're very strange together. Yuki always makes fun of Shuichi and Shuichi loves him anyway. "Masochist" is one of Yuki's favortie insults. Those are my top three. I have more, but three seems enough. Maybe I'll post again later with more. ^_^ ~Lumi ^_^

I remember Surge. I started drinking it because it was green. ^_^ It's number two in the three most highly caffeinated beverages. I didn't like Jolt and Mountain Dew just doesn't do the all night job Surge could do. I say, bring back Surge. Are you with me, yay or nay? Just kidding, but it would be great if Surge reappeared on the shelves. ~Lumi ^_^

The more and more I think on this topic, the more I begin to doubt the technology we have in the world. Ad, the more I am beginning to see my computer room looking like the inside of a gundam. O_o I don't know how they would make the part that uses the five senses. In "The World", one can feel the wind blow, smell flowers, taste wine. I can see how sight and hearing works. The way it seems is that it is done psychologically, hence the visor; but then someone mentioned how Mimiru's mother had called her, and I realized it can't be the way I was thinking. I was thinking almost a state of hypnosis, but you can't be called by your mother in hypnosis. So how does the sense part fit in? I would like to see "The World" become reality, but is it really possible? ~Lumi ^_^

I like Tsukasa the most. He reminds me of myself and I can relate to his problems. Being able to relate to a character is what I like most about anime. Tsukasa is quiet, smart, seeking solitude, etc. I like his hat too. ^_~ ~Lumi ^_^

The Evil Creatures known as "Siblings"
Luminaire replied to Hittokiri Zero's topic in General Discussion
I am the middle child out of five. Though, it's not really five anymore, my younger brother died a long time ago, I still count him in. Out of all of us, I am the quiet one who avoids fights, and that seems to bother all my siblings except my oldest brother(30). Now that I am in the same school as my older brother, Jason(17), we avoid each other and we do get in arguments. He is normally in his room all afternoon and night. I get in fight with him when he steals stuff from or barges into my room. The oldest, Michael, lives in Cali. He was the one I got along most with, but I don't get to talk to him much. Whenever he comes home he always picks on my other siblings. At last, we reach the source of my problems: my younger sister(12). DUN DUN DUN!! She is always yelling at everyone and never considers anyone's feelings. I always get in fight with her, and my mom always yells at me because I am passive agressive whenever I fight with anyone. I never even raise my voice and my sister has to scream at me. Surprisingly, Sem's sister reminds me of her. Blames everything on me, always gets her way, talks behind everyone's backs, lies, steals, manipulates, makes fun of me, pulls my hair out. One time she lit my hair on fire and then claimed I got too close to a candle she just lit with the same lighter. She's nice sometimes, but as soon as something doesn't please her, she throws a tantrum. She locked me in a crawl space once. I had to pick the lock with a hanger to get out. My mom believed my sister when she said she accidentally bumped into the door and I must have unlocked it wrong. She's a sadist or something. ~Lumi ^_^ -
Since I am the only one who pays attention in my history class, I know who Karl Marx is. His ideals of equality were dreams that could never be reached. We see that now over 100 years later as communism rules some countries. Communism is the corrupt, twisted version of a beautiful dream. But, that is all that Marxism is, a dream. Boba Fett said most of what I would have said, so I won't rewrite everything he wrote. I echo his opinion. Fantastic rap Heaven. Can I show that to my history teacher? He'll get a kick out of it. Also, Hitler was anti-communist as Boba Fett said, but it's fine the way it is. Your rhyming skills are wonderful. ~Lumi ^_^

I find it funny that I nearly get hit by at least one car a day. I walk home from school and I have to pass through a mall. Or, I could take the long way around and go through alot of blind curves(even worse than the mall). Whenever I cross the street, I sprint. I know that whoever was kind enough to stop for me must need to get somewhere. There are rude drivers in my little suburban town: senior citizens and high school kids. Senior citizens have come more close to hitting me than anyone else. One old woman was at a red light and I was crossing and she honks at me, but the light is still red. She kept blasting her horn at me and she looked really pissed. I wanted to flip her off, but I didn't want the children in the car to see that. There is a traffic light right by my house and to cross the main road, it never says "walk". You can push the button and wait and wait, but it will never say it. Yet, there are crosswalks. How are you supposed to cross this blasted street?! Some of the kids in my school have done exactly what happened to Sem. I'll have the walk sign, I'll go to step onto the road and a car will fly by out of nowhere. And, then they'll stop, open the window and laugh. I normally just glare and walk away. I am normally very considerate to people. I help them out, let them go before me. But, I think this may only be in my town or something, no one ever helps me when I ask for help. and the time you use to help people counts toward the time for you to finish what you have to do. But, it builds up and before you know it, you are out of time, and you haven't finished. There is such a thing as being too considerate. Maybe the person honking at you knows what being too considerate can do and they need the time it takes for them to help. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone. I also agree with everything Lalaith Ril said. ~Lumi

"Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die." ~My Favorite Quote That is my policy of life, even if I do think life totally sucks and is getting worse. But, I still dream and live on, no matter how easy it would be to lay down and die. Another quote: "When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling; live your life that so when you die, you are the one smiling and everyone else is crying." ~Lumi ^_^

I want a tattoo, but the whole "not til your 18" thing is preventing me. I want a dragon or a Kanji symbol. I wanted to do something for my friends, but I don't know anymore. I realize what I would be doing to my skin, but I want something to symbolize me. Tattoos are a great form of art. ~Lumi ^_^

Well, I discovered I had Jasc Animation Shop when I had no internet one day. I took a stab at making a Fruits Basket flashing avatar. I need some opinions. Here it is:

I rented FF Unlimited from Blockbuster. I thought it was ok, but it didn't have much to it. The chocobos are really cute though. ^_^ I would not suggest buying it unless it really appeals to you in story, plot, etc. If you think it will be related to Legend of the Crystals, guess again. The repetiveness of battle scenes were very annoying as well. ~Lumi ^_^
Originally posted by maladjusted But to stay on topic, I'd have to tell anti-yaoi-ists to get over it. Homosexuality is slowly entering society and the media more and more, and with a hit show called "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy", I think there's more to some. Actually, I don't see what's so great about that show. I personally think it's stupid.
True, and there is no stopping it. Homosexuality is like a slow-moving tsunami; slow, but can't be stopped. I think it has to do with the freedom of choice. People should and can choose their sexual preference, and sometimes, it is genetic and can't be helped. Just because others think it is wrong or sick, it's not going to daunt the big wave. And, I don't like that show very much either. I got bored watching one episode. v_v I just wish people would accept the fact that things won't change because they insult it or disagree with it. But, I think the world is all the more interesting with the changes that are occuring. Power to Yaoi! ~Lumi ^_^

DBD, would you ever watch an anime or read a manga featuring yaoi? (I don't know if you answered this already because the first page of this thread won't open for me) Screw my first post. the entire time I was studying for geometry I was thinking about this, and I think I know why I really like shounen-ai and/or yaoi: Due to hate crimes and laws, homosexuality is always this huge secret. People are scared of being caught or getting beaten up. But, in shows or fics I find that the openess in which the affection is displayed inspiring. Those people, male or female, are showing that no matter the consequences or risks, they want to be true to their hearts. It has "courage" written all over it(not literally). Ilovebebop is right. Sexual preference does not affect personality. You could be quiet and calm and gay/bi/straight and the quiet part wouldn't change, ne? ~Lumi ^_^

>sighs< I attempted going to the Social Studies advisor and talking, but he says he doesn't see the educational benefits the club may have. I have to arrange a meeting with him after school one day to show him some sites and explain where education comes in. Or, I can take it to the Art advisor and try that. Any one have any educational benefits of anime? I may show the advisor this thread, so it would be very helpful if someone could put something up. You can use shows as an example. Thank! ^_~ ~Lumi ^_^

Did you use a search or just the page on FF.net? Try www.mediaminer.org if you are still having trouble. I understand what you are saying DBD, I can't live without fanfiction, and there are probably continuation fics out there. Just keep trying. And, Radical Edward, avoid the NC-17 and R if you have to. On www.fanfiction.net you can select the rating and genre, try that. Not everything is Yaoi out there, DBD. You could just read one and ignore the relationships, but it's up to you. ~Lumi ^_^

I dislike repitition, as well. Also, in a more mature anime, the director may throw a "cute" character in and that kind of annoys me. In Yu Yu Hakusho when Puu was around as that little thing, it was cute at first, but when all the girls were babying it, I got a little annoyed, but when Yusuke cursed at it, I found it funny. I am also not big on sex scenes. If there are too many, I will stop watching; I just don't care for it. Let's see...what I like about anime. Everything but the above. I like a good story, long or short. The story is always the most important part to me. Any animation works for me as long as the story is played out right. I like action or angst that is not overdone. Music is another important thing to me; if the music does not work, it just doesn't make it as impressive. Fighting that the eye can keep up with is important to me; I love fighting shows. But, going back to the first like, the story. The story has to be good or interesting; it has to make sense, but can be puzzling. The story cannot be drawn out or shortened. While 08th MS Team was only 12 episodes and Gundam Wing was 49, both got the point across about two different stories. Mysteries are good too. Escaflowne had alot of mystery and intrigue to it. That's all for now. ~Lumi ^_^
Originally posted by maladjusted Unfortunately, that's not what many people really do. I have seen arguments against yaoi/shounen-ai that focus around the point that yaoi fanfictions and websites are wrong and have bad things within them. The question then arouses: Why were you at at website/reading the fanfiction in the first place if you're against it? I've even heard arguments against yaoi that focus around URL links. Yes, links. If you don't like yaoi, and you see a link that says, "GUNDAM WING YAOI!", it's best to actually resists those meddlings hands and NOT click it. People who leave random insults aren't going to change anything, other than have some author's note at the top of the page insulting the flamer back. [Which is turn leaves about 1000 yaoi fans to read about it.]
Very true. I have done that. I have fun tearing apart every little thing that is said and insulting/disproving what it. I think that people who dislike shounen-ai and click on the links are pretty strange. I mean, it's like stabbing yourself and them accusing someone else. O_o;;;;; Don't like don't click/look/read. There are normally warning for that kind of stuff. maladjusted has pretty much taken the arguments out of my mouth, but I can still participate if this ends up a debate. ^_^ ~Lumi ^_^

I posted once before, but alas, I forgot one(>.>) of my favorites! v_v "Through the Night" Outlaw Star Opening theme "Sayonara Bye Bye" Yu Yu Hakusho second ending "Just Communication" Gundam Wing opening by Two-Mix The first Weiss Kreuz opening (anyone know the name?) "Butterfly" Digimon Adventure by Wada Kouji "The Biggest Dreamer" Digimon Tamers by Wada Kouji "Fire!!!" Digimon Frontier by Wada Kouji "Eye to Eye" from Yu Yu Hakusho Ok, maybe that was more than one, but I have alot of anime songs. So, I shall stop there. ~Lumi ^_^

I really don't know why I am into shounen-ai. I think it's probably the idea that anyone who watches it has to be a bit open-minded and I like those kinds of people. When I talk to my mother on the topic she always say: "I didn't think Japan was into homosexuality"; I find it great at the openess and willingness of directors and creators to put it in the shows. I love the manga FAKE because of the relationship. Since the manga takes place in the US, and most homosexuality is illegal, I think the display of shounen-ai makes a statement. I have noticed most males have problems with shounen-ai. In my school, the greatest insult you can say to a guy is to say he is homosexual; though, I noticed the word "stupid" has become
"gay"
and
"f*g"
is a very common word. I think when guys, even though there are male shounen-ai fans, see shounen-ai things, they are kinda insulted. It's a matter of pride. No offense. I got a question: For people who are against shounen-ai, why do you find it so offensive? Why are you against it? ~Lumi ^_^

I had to go find the book and read that part again. Answer: Fell Beast (I like to call it Wraith on Wings) Question: What was Galadriel's gift to Sam in the book? And, why did she give it to him? (it makes more sense to people who don't know if you answer the second one too) ~Lumi ^_^

Bleh, I like to sing, but I hate it when my brother and sister pretend to be in agony even if I hum. v_v I sing in the shower, but it echoes so loud, and I always take them late at night, so I am afraid I will wake someone up. I also sing when I walk the dog, no echo, no siblings, just me, my deaf dog, and the trees around me. I like to sing Colors of the Wind from Pocahantus, I don't know why; Beautiful Goodbye by Amanda Marshall, my favorite song; Valpariso by Sting, I love the lyrics; and Tears by X-Japan. I really like to sing those songs, and maybe in the middle of one, it will become another. Oh, Adam's Song by Blink 182 is another, but that is the last. ~Lumi ^_^

But, wait, throughout history aren't there cases of teenagers and children as rulers of empires and warlords and what-nots. King Tut for example. How old was he when he came into rule of Egypt. The Japanese emperor who began the Meiji Era was only 15. There are others too. So why is it so far-fetched for an 8-year-old girl to want to take over the world? Was it Alexander the Great who started taking over land around the age of 15 or am I thinking of someone else? ~Lumi ^_^
