What about avatars? Lot's of people recognize members by their avatars. When you change it, it should stay in your signature for a month so everyone knows who you are. Ugh....don't mind me....I do like the idea about name changes....honest...

Heh, where are you? I know Milwaukee area's prolly about due for another Cryptosporridium outbreak. And with all the spiel about dumping sewege in Michigan, well.... I remember having a big to-do about boiling whater when I was back in second grade.... I was at school, in the library, and there came on this announcement about how we weren't allowed to use the bubblers anymore. When the bell rang, all the bubblers we closed up, covered with duct tape. It seemed to last forever... Best to you, Des. Hope no one gets too sick. E. coli can be nasty... ::looks at Justin funny, and falls off the face of OB:: There is something in the water....

I don't get along very well with most of the members of the music groups, and I didn't get along well with the former director. But, gosh...I do love music.
Originally posted by Char! Mike's post
Whee, clarinets rock! I was first chair in Band my freshmen year...of course, there were only about twelve people in band, heh. Recorders are evil, Handbells are okay, and I can't make a sound on a flute or a brass instrument to save my life. I've never attempted oboe or bassoon, although they are very cool. Eb Clarinet is great, it's so small! And Eb Alto is fun, too. Never played Bass Clarinet, my friends won't let up her claim to it. I'm not in Band this year...sad to say, but most of the peole involved in music at mny school are a bunch of stuck up jerks who discourage others from joining. Too bad, really. Band dork or geek? Ermmmmm... Why don't you check with Nerdsy on that one?

I know custom titles have been suggested before, but I thought I'd bring it up again. It would be fun to have them, maybe just above the Mod/Member/Newbie/Otaku/Whatever status. Just so long as things are still being added and whatnot, thought I might as well ask about it. And James... am I ever going to get my strikethrough option? :p ;)

Teh, I still haven't caught up since the boards were down. Heh, I remember reading Shaun's post, and later you talking about SaberNekomon. This is great stuff, Devi.

I love to sing, I really do. I'm no longer in any music groups at my school, though...

I figure I'll prolly be in school for the rest of my life, one way or t' other. Best to you, Nuchlear.

Heh... My hair is insanely long, thick, and right now, because of the humidity, curly. Four of my friends, let's see... One has been growing his hair out for quite a while, it's more than long enough to be pulled back in a pony tail. Another grew his hair out this summer; I love his hair. It's thick and brown and curly. Like mine...only...shorter. And I like his hair, and hate mine. Tch. Another boy had one of my friends braid his hair on the school camping trip... I have seen few things funnier. And the fourth's hair is still pretty short, but went from being brown the last time I saw him to being jet black this morning. o0

I've never had to deal with that situation. Best to you and your friend, Mist.

Indeed...I saw it at the bottom of your posts, scrolling through a thread, and thought Ginny had posted. I would do something with the text. It seems...very flat, and out-of-place.

IMO=In My Opinion. [Sometimes IMHO, In My Humble Opinion, or IMNSHO, In My Not So Humble Opinion.] I can understand the use of shorthand in a chatroom or IM box...to an extent. 'BRB' is useful, as is 'GTG,' when one must leave on short notice, and doesn't wish to just rudely disappear without explanation.

The thing is, "conform" has a negative connotation to begin with. The idea of changing yourself to fit in--consciously or unconsciously--is something people shrink back from. If you like a pair of jeans that are popular, that's different than liking them because they are popular.... Eh. Be yourself. Like what you like. Do what you do. Would you act the same way if you knew no one cared? Would you act the same way if you didn't care that they cared? And wouldn't your real friends like you, anyway?

I actually learned how to type in a chatroom, ages ago. It was a nice chatroom....intelligent people, decent grammar, a few good discussions. I learned internet slang in self-defense when I ventured out of that one little chatroom into the rest of the big scary internet. I know some wonderful, intelligent people from school and other areas of my life...but get them on an IM service, and you would have no idea they had the grammatical intelligence of the average thirteen year old. I really wouldn't call all the new slang and net-speak "vocabulary." If anything, society's grasp of vocabulary is deteriorating. Less time, faster everything, smaller words.... Tch. It saddens me.
Originally posted by (<AA>) Imagine a world with no internet, no cellphones, no computers, and no phones... the only means of communications was snail mail, and you knew almost nothing besides what the TV said was true... Would you survive in that kind of world???
We have television, but no phone service? And some of us get the newspaper.... Eh. I suppose it depends on exacly what you mean--if everything listed were simply to disappear, that would be hugely different than living when it simply hadn't been developed. You'd be used to different things, and whatnot. If everything simply stopped working--I think society, collectively, would have a meltdown. Remember the hysteria before Y2K? Imagine if the worst-case scenario had actually happened, multiplyed by all the gadgets that aren't exclusively computer-operated. Again, living in a society where all those modern 'conveniences' hadn't been developed would be probably healthier. More face-to-face contact, actually people skills, fewer distractions, and no annoyances speaking on cel phones in public or while driving....

AnimeLover, if you want to continue arguing, please carry the conversation somewhere else. ;) This is from Shy: "Of course! What would live drama be without oyster guns?" Ya'll better look out. Anything you say may be quoted and brought back to haunt you.

Art GinnyLyn's lame attempt to make her own banners
Sara replied to GinnyLyn's topic in Creative Works
Actually, I nearly didn't say anything, because I know you often lament your lack of "background skill." I think we know eachother too well, Gin.
