I can see that you really love Pikachu, even though you practically killed him by having him fight for so long! You eventually felt guilty and gave up, so that proves that you really respect your Pokémon. Even though you lost miserably, I can tell that you're a good person, so I'll give you this badge anyway!") How lame is that? Everyone else actually has to earn their badges, and Ash just has to be a good sport? The voiceover at the end of the episodes always annoyed me, too. "As Ash and the gang continue on their journey, they say goodbye to the friends they have made, but take with them an important lesson. What new adventures lie ahead?" I don't watch anime by myself... I just don't like watching movies alone. I watched Samurai Champloo, Haibane Renmei, and Trigun bit by bit over a long time, usually at night at my boyfriend's house. That was a lot of fun. During the school year, though, I simply don't have time to watch much tv.

If I were to choose an anime character to date, it would probably not be a main character of a show. Right now, someone who comes to mind is the owner of the secondhand shop in Haibane Renmei. We don't know much about him, but he seems laid back and friendly. Also, he's tall and kinda cute. I was a big Digimon fan back in the day, and I still have a lot of fanart to show for it. The fanart, though, is next to nothing compared to the stories, theories, rpgs, jokes, and discussion that took place on the old Digimon forums here. I was just thinking how much I miss being that into something. I'll probably never hit up Digimon again, but if anyone knows of another all-engrossing series... Well, I'm on the market.

I can't afford to spend real money on clothes. I don't have much against buying brand name stuff on the cheap, though (or second-hand). Honestly, I guess I'd rather not advertise a clothing company. I steer away from shirts with brand names emblazoned across them. If I found a clothing company that I thought was genuinely worth supporting, I would probably wear their shirts to get the word out. It would have to be some sort of hippie company, though, heh.

I am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection. Excellence I can reach for; perfection is God's business. -Michael J. Fox. I have been a perfectionist for much of my life--it got to the point where my obsession with perfection was negatively affecting my mental and physical health. (That's bad, kiddoes.) It is not easy letting go, but sometimes you need to let things slide in order to stay sane. My mom sent me a magazine clipping with this quote a few months ago, and I keep it in mind. It's becoming a motto. A second motto: Live like there's no yesterday. I have spoken about this here before. To me, it means "no regrets." Don't worry about the past--sort of a Rafiki-style outlook, but a good thing to be reminded of sometimes. You cannot retcon real life, so please do not try! You will only make things more frustrating.
So... what, because I find the idea of god (in the Christian sense) laughable I drive 6-inch nails through baby skulls every night? The way you make it sound, people who don't 'have' god lack this special 'gift' that makes them 'happy'.
Evil was your term, not Piro's.
New Subject: The Gospel of Judas. A new text scroll has been uncovered telling how Judas Iscariot, the famed traitor of Jesus Christ, was actually a good guy. It tells how Judas was asked by Christ to turn him in to the Romans (or something to that effect). And I actually think this is more plausible than Jesus being tricked. I mean, he knew it was his fate to die for the sins of man, so why wouldn't he be expecting it to happen? I think if Jesus wanted to, being such a miracle worker and all, he could have prevented such a betrayal. What do you guys think about that?
Relevant passages: Matthew 26:20-25 When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. And while they were eating, he said, "I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me." They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, "Surely not I, Lord?" Jesus replied, "The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me. The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born." Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said, "Surely not I, Rabbi?" Jesus answered, "Yes, it is you." John 13:21-27 After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, "I tell you the truth, one of you is going to betray me." His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant. One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him. Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, "Ask him which one he means." Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, "Lord, who is it?" Jesus answered, "It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish." Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon. As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. "What you are about to do, do quickly," Jesus told him.

I think it's really cool that you're doing this. If you're going to be asking for money (as much as it would be more fair if you already had it), you're going to need to show some enthusiasm for the organisation outside of the letter, as well. Talk to your faculty advisor, and perhaps the cafeteria--ask if you can have a bake sale during lunch hour some time. Make it obvious that the sale is for the theater program. Make sure that other people in the school realise that you exist. Possibly put on a couple skits and see if you can get one of the art classes to make posters. ---- Actually, in a case like this it's not a bad idea for the art/music/theatre people to band (har har) together. If you don't already have something like this, start an Arts Program Potluck--or even an ice cream social--to be held toward the end of the year. Display art projects, put on a short comedy skit, see if there's a flute trio willing to play a couple songs. It shouldn't be a big concert or performance, but make sure each group is represented before (or while) you eat. Potlucks and ice cream socials (one out of ten people brings a gallon of ice cream, everyone else brings a topping) are great because there's very little cost to you--less cost if you can also assign someone to bring paper plates/bowls/cups/napkins/utensils. At some point during the meal, have a student (that's important; parents will listen to kids more than they will listen to teachers asking for money) talk about how important the art programs are, how tight the budget is, and ask parents to write letters to the board (or whoever). It would be a good idea if you printed off roughly enough postcards for every family group there--the front could be an arts program logo, or simply drawn by an art student--and asked people to send them. The postcard might say something like this on the back: Dear [person you are asking for money], My child is a member of the _________ program [art/theatre/music] at [your school] in [your town].... Finish it with a polite request for money, and a gentle note that these people are voting members of society. ----- But yeah, good luck. Make sure you get parents involved, so they know what's going on. (The reason the combined art program thing is cool is because it draws in parents of students who aren't already in theatre. This post isn't as smoothly written as it could be, but I don't have time to edit it because I'm late for class as it is. Gotta run!
Many times in the bible, it is said that god is everywhere,[/COLOR']
In a thread like this, I think it's very important--and even the point of the thread--to cite references. Can you find one of those instances for me? I can't think of any verses that specifically say that. I think there are many that definitely state or imply God's ability to be anywhere/everywhere, but I think that was important (or became important) because the Israelites were nomads and did not have one place in which to meet God.
However, there are other examples of (possible) inconcistancies, such as the sudden shift in Gods personality. For example, he tends to be vengeful in the old testament. You've probably already taken several standardised tests that have the same format as the ACT, so you should be familiar with it. (If you're not sure, look at your test prep booklet--I'm pretty sure they come free with the registration materials--and take the practice test.) Just make sure you know how it is set up, so you know what is coming. Your local library is almost 100% guaranteed to have test prep books as well. If you want "professional" advice, check out the ACT for Dummies or something like that. Possibly your high school library will have copies of those sorts of books as well. As for math and science: 1.) Remember that all the math _can_ be done without a calculator. Now, I recommend using a calculator (it saves a lot of time), but you don't need to do anything fancy with it! Don't start using weird functions--remember that they aren't needed. If you've got no clue how to start, skip it and come back to it later. I circle my "do this later" problems in the test booklet, to make sure I don't forget. It helps. (On another note, make sure you are using the calculator you are most familiar with. Don't buy a new calculator just for the ACT--it will be more trouble than it is worth.) 2.) Science is not really about _science_. Unless they have changed the test drastically from the way it was three years ago, you probably don't need to know a thing about science. What you need to know is how to read a graph. They give you graphs and charts and ask you questions about them. All of the answers are there, you just need to find them. Don't be intimated if the subject is "nuclear fusion" or "endothermic trends in decaying wood." Remember: You don't need to know anything about the subject! Aside from that: DO take practice tests. They will have the same sorts of questions that you will have on your test. Go through the tests, and check your answers. If you got an answer wrong (or know you were guessing), ask someone for help--figure out why your answer was wrong, and figure out how to get the right answer. Your school has math, science, and English teachers--take in a copy of a practice test (with your answers marked), and ask them to go through it with you. This is important! If you don't understand why your answer is wrong now, you won't understand why it's wrong when you take the test. Finally, when you are taking the test, make sure you're comfortable. Bring a sweatshirt that you can put on or take off if you get too hot/cold. Bring your favorite (healthy?) snack for the intermission--it's a three hour test, and you do get a break. Bring a water bottle--they are allowed in the test room. Make sure you have at least two pencils (even if you are using mechanical pencils--have at least two in case one jams), and a big eraser (in case, goodness forbid, you realise that you've been filling in answers one row off.) On that note, mark your answers IN THE TEST BOOKLET. When you finish going through once, or when the proctor announces the 5-minute time left, copy your answers onto the bubble sheet. It's faster to do it that way than it is to constantly switch back and forth between the booklet and the sheet. If your desk is uncomfortable--one leg is shorter than the others, there's a screw sticking out, anything like that--ask to be relocated. If you're annoyed with your surroundings, your performance won't be as good as it could be.

I am pretty excited about this. I remember the original RPGs, although I didn't participate much. (I think there were three, and I was a part of one for a while... but I couldn't figure out where it was going, so I eventually faded out.) The great thing about "advanced" RPGS these days is that there's much more direction. (Not that Meteo City didn't have direction... I just couldn't figure out where my character fit into it.) I could see myself participating in this.

What do you think your signature says about you?
Sara replied to shadowpimp's topic in General Discussion

The member formerly known as Sara. . . . Wait, what the. . . ? I'm only here for the cookies and punch. I'm a teenage girl and this is my drama.
Well, it's in size 1 font, so that would seem imply that I don't feel important, or perhaps that I want to go unnoticed. In fact, it means that I am so cool I don't need to SHOUT because I know people will read it no matter what. It's sort of an understated coolness, which I think is a big part of my personality. The first line, uncentered, speaks of confusion. It reveals my inner uncertainty--who am I? Why am I here? What am I really like? It puts the rest of my signature off balance, as everything else is centered, but this statement--important, as it is at the top--throws everything off. This signifies that my egocentric confusion is throwing the rest of my personality out of whack. I need to sort things out and stop worrying so much. The other two lines are equal in length, unbolded, and centered. Neither one immediately gains attention, with the end result that the two sentences war with each other--which is more important? It is clear that two such similar things should not both exist there. But what do they mean? The first, "I'm only here for the cookies and punch" bespeaks a sardonic worldview. I do not seek knowledge or interaction with others; I attend things only with the promise of free food. I am perhaps greedy... But then, there is little in the way of OtakuBoards refreshments. Why am I really here? It seems I claim ulterior motives to hide my genuine interest--an interest, perhaps, of which I am ashamed. The last line is similar in spirit. "I am a teenage girl and this is my drama." Why am I here? Certainly not out of genuine interest, but only, perhaps, to fuel the flames of...flames. It reveals that I am unbelievably self-centered, and not unhappy that other people may know that. The sentence is however, in light of my most recent birthday, at least partly--and irrefutably--inaccurate. The fact that these final two lines are centered is important to a proper reading of my personality. Like the rest of my signature, they are written in size 1 font, implying that I do not care whether or not I am noticeable, for people will seek me out. However, the fact that these lines are centered shows that despite my apparent disdain for attention, I long to be at the center and in the limelight. -
