1.
Oh, another thing I noticed,
why are they trying to make Hermione all pretty all the time? I noticed it in the third movie as well, they're slowly making her hair less frizzy and more bouncy/curly. When they did the whole scene at the Yule Ball, she was supposed to be TOTALLY different, but she was just a little bit nicer looking.[/spoiler'] That sort of makes me mad..
Lol. YOU try to keep Emma Watson from looking hot.
The only thing I don't like is that how Dumbledore
was on the edge all the time... I thought he was supposed to be calm and collected![/spoiler']
Concurrence! That was the only thing that irked me. And it bugs me for a couple reasons: First, because it's a pretty basic character change. But also, it really changes the mood of the story. All along, because
Dumbledore was there, things were, somehow, going to be okay--because with Dumbledore there, how could they not?
They always mention how "As long as Dumbledore is around, Hogwarts is safe,"
but it doesn't feel that way in the movie, because Dumbledore seems like he's in way over his head. Like when he snaps at Minerva?
Yikes! This is my favorite HP movie so far, and I think they did it very well. Sorry, but I'm not willing to go see a ten hour movie. Not even one with Robert Pattinson as Cedric "Handsome" Diggory. (Maybe if we'd've had Sean Biggerstaff...) Am I horrible, or what? Heh. But yeah, enjoyed the movie. The whole SPEW thing got pretty tiresome in the book as it was. I sort of expected it to have a "cameo appearance" or some such, but I didn't notice one. (Honestly, I wasn't looking.) I'm happy that we got to see more of Neville.
  2. Heterosexual, Bisexual, Homosexual, Asexual, Omnisexual... Maybe you're just sexual. ;)
Okay, look hun, you're fourteen (Or at least that's what your profile says). You really don't NEED to call yourself anything.
On the other hand, I don't think labels were ever so important to me than when I was in jr. high/early high school. The labeling problem is tricky, because everyone wants to fit in. Even more, though, I think... everyone wants to know who they really are.
  3. ...Darn. I was really getting into the idea of having a Name Change Day, too. :) Perhaps the 16th of each month could be an Unofficial Name Change Day... :whoops:

    Birthdays
Perhaps the person's friends[/b'] could get an automated PM as well saying that it's their birthday, and to wish them well? Just a though.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAH NO! ..ahem. It's just that I don't want half the contents of my inbox to be automated "Your friend has a birthday!" messages. I like Dag's idea, though.
  6. My pet peeve is when people talk about dental or orthodontic problems at the dinner table. You wouldn't think something that specific would come up often, but it does. My other pet peeve is when people mentally place all Americans into one easily-dismissable group.
  7.
You r aboslutely right! Hayao is awesome! MY favorites are Spirited away, Princess Mononoke, Nausicca and my neighbor Totoro![/size']
Out of curiousity, if those are all your favorite, how many have you seen? I'm a fan, but I think most people are. My favorite movie is My Neighbor Totoro, and I don't think I can really explain why. It's a priceless piece of my childhood. :) I've also seen Kiki's Delivery Service, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and If You Listen Closely/Whisper of the Heart. I believe Miyazaki directed snippets of If You Listen Closely/Whisper of the Heart. (I'm pretty sure the flying/floating bit at the end was his.) I believe he also wrote the screenplay.

    College...
I got a question about college....do you absolutely HAVE to live in a dorm?
I don't know of any colleges that require first-year students to live on campus (although I suppose there may be some out there).

    College...
I'm a junior and I know what I want to do. I just know that it's gonna take me a long time to get into college. I'm not involved in any sports or anything that could get me a scholarship. I'm kinda poor. Occasionally, my family has money, but my dad is very horrible at saving. I have no way of getting into college right when I get out of high school. I'm going to be working at McDonald's for quite a while until I can conjure up the money to get myself into college. I have a serious authority problem and I don't hand out respect on a silver platter. Basically, I'm screwed.
There are also a lot of need-based scholarships out there, as well as scholarships for people looking to get into specific fields. (Probably every field out there has some rich guy who's willing to offer money to kids who want to follow in his footsteps.) Look into it.
  11. On another note, if you are trying to start your own club (and it seems to me that your point is not "equal access," but simply being a thorn in the school's proverbial side), make sure you follow all the steps required for starting a club. These exact rules may not hold true for you, but in my experience, you need:
?A number of interested students (who are willing to state that they are interested in founding the club, not just joining "if it happens.") ?An adult advisor. A teacher who is willing to supervise the club. ?A "mission statement" or written intent regarding the purpose of the club. What will you do at meetings? What is the point? ?Many schools also have a requirement that groups not be exclusive, cruel in nature or intent, violent, or disruptive in nature. Make sure that your proposed club is none of these things. (If you are forming it sincerely, that is one thing. If you are forming it just to spite the Christians, that may be viewed as another.)
Find out what is required to start a club, and make sure you have what you need. A tentative meeting schedule would also be a good thing.
Tim had already talked to Mr. Cannon about sponsoring a club for Satanists, because he knows Mr. Cannon would. Nope, didn't happen. He would've if he could, but he couldn't.
It sounds to me like you approached a teacher about sponsoring you, and he refused. This could be for any number of reasons, some as simple as he didn't want the headache involved with approaching the [whoever one approaches about starting a club]. If this is something you're interested, talk to Mr. Cannon yourself, and find out why he refused. If you want to start a club, you're going to need a more solid reason than a whiny "Well, they have one, why can't I?" You're also going (in this case) need to submit or prove that your group will not be intentionally violent or disruptive. You seem like the kind of person who would throw a tantrum. Word your request intelligently and politely. I'm sure you can do it. You also seem to throw the terms Witchcraft, Paganism, and Satanism around a bit. I'm not sure how familiar you are with them, but I would suggest going for a club revolving around whatever you actually know about. (Athieism and Humanism are also options.) If your rallying point is a group specifically for non-christians, you might take that approach.
  12. You were pretty abrasive in your first post, as well. If you don't want people to respond negatively to what you say, a better course of action would be to word your post more carefully, and perhaps politely point out that you are looking for advice on a specific topic, rather than a lecture. If someone finds something abrasive, human nature will lead them to respond to it. Bright red text will not help this, but a polite request may.
  13. I'll be updating this post with anything that I actually submit to Threadless. Designs, ideas, and works-in-progress can be found in the body of the thread. (The original design was a bit of a parody that I was going to submit to Threadless. I swear, the idea was funny when I first thought of it.) Anyway... Thoughts, questions, comments, wild derision? The title is "dinoXcore." Yeah, I know. Shoot me. :p Ah, the joy of indie dinosaurs...
  14. My advice: Learn to type. Improve your communication skills. Whatever you choose to do, it will be much easier going if you appear intelligent and well-spoken.
  15. Well, you are getting the service for free, and our esteemed webmaster does need a way to pay for the site.
  16.
Perhaps they could limit it to one submission every five minutes...?
Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I tend to submit all my greetings in one go. It would be royally sucky if I had to wait five minutes between submitting each one.

    Smilies

Hm, are they really that hard to see? They look just fine to me. Maybe I should change my screen settings. John, I use Photoshop Elements for animating things. Not free (though only about 100 dollars, and just as good as Photoshop for all but professional publishing, so if you're looking to buy a program...) Heh, Hevn. I agree, the front teeth ones are ugly. But they're ugly in a very endearing way! I want to make more of those. Des, is that supposed to be an executioner smiley? o0
  18. I also thought, from the thumbnail, that the butterfly was a photograph. I think it loses something in the large version, maybe due to the quality of the lines on the wings, but I'm guessing that's a jpeg issue. I'm also wondering if the white spots should be moved under the lines. I don't have much to say about the second piece, except that it looks like fun, and you did a brilliant job with the guy's hair and glasses. Actually, everything looks great. I'm just especially taken with the simplicity of the top of his head, heh.
  19. It's not a bad suggestion, but I don't think this is the place for it. There are other places you can go for help with homework, and there are already occasionally threads for friend/stress situations. (This is an example.) In the end, this is an anime-related message board, and I don't think that a section devoted to school-related issues falls under the categories we'd like to cover. (I also doubt it would be able to hold its own, activity-wise, enough to merit keeping it around.)
  20.
I'm not too fond of going by looks these days. Since some people that look like models tends to be real shady. (men and women alike)
Some people are shady, regardless of how they look.
  21. Sehr schön! I could tell right away that Inu Saruya was supposed to be an Inuyasha character. You chose a difficult angle to draw for Ishita, and it turned out well, good job there. I also like the detail on the hatchet and the spear. There are two areas that you can work on to improve. The first is harder: anatomy. You seem to have a good idea of what you want your characters to look like, but I think you're trying too hard to get them down all at once. I suggest that you start each picture by lightly sketching the torso (upper body and waist) and legs of your character. Add head and arms. Then add the costume and hair. This will help you identify problems with the placement of shoulders and hands. (In your first picture of Inu Saruya, her hand is in a very awkward place, and both of your head-on views of Inu Saruya and Miko Kazuka have very wide shoulders.) Also, when drawing arms and legs, remember: They have joints! They should always bend at least a little the elbow, wrist, knee, and ankle... but they should only bend there. Ishita's arms bend like spaghetti, and her legs don't bend at all. Make sure you know where the joints are supposed to be. (Other than that, this picture is great, by the way.) My other suggestion has to do with your coloring. You've chosen very good colors for your subject matter, but here's my opinion: You should be taking at least twice as long to color your pictures. Slow down! if you color evenly and slowly, your pictures will look a lot better. This will also give you a chance to shade your images a little. (You can shade by pressing down harder or by using a darker color over your original.)

    Smilies

This thread in the Suggestions forum got me thinking about smilies. (The specific thought was along the lines of "Smilies! I can MAKE smilies!") So... I made some. These are smallish, with the faces being 13x13 pixels. They're different colors, some animated (some not), some cute, some ugly, and just generally the product of avoiding homework late last night. I'm not really looking for feedback (though I won't say nay to it), but I would like to see smilies that anyone else has made. Because let's face it: they're small, they're cute, and they're simple. Let's hear it for smilies! If you have never made any, this would be an excellent time to start. Any size, color, or style, as long as you made them. Here are some of mine: and the cutest sneezing smiley ever:
  23. Do not double post. If you post, offer constructive criticism. Do not post artwork that you do not want critiqued. Do not hold line-by-line conversations in a thread. Thread closed.
  24.
I always wonder about how you pronounce usernames, and it can be quite a shock when you realise it's actually not what you expected it to be. I still have to convince myself that Sara's not pronounced 'Sah-ra' but 'Sair-ah'. If that makes sense...
Sah-ra is fine. ^_^ You know, I see neuvox in quite a few usernames these days. Not necessarily folks from OB, but from around school as well. I always pronounce it nu-aiv-oh eks. Like in Spanish. With an "x" at the end. Yes.... Okay, I feel silly now. :)
I still like my way better

  25. Thanks for your input, Alex. I agree that direction you're talking about would be the best to keep going along (which is kind of frustrating, because it's not what I expected to happen, heh). And rereading it, it all seems kind of disjointed to me. I did write it right before I fell asleep, though, so I didn't bother going through and polishing at all. Maybe I should have. But maybe not. I kind of like the raw feeling it has to it. Anyway, originally I was going to cut back to the empty street scene again, this time, focusing first on the more human remnants of the chaos--pieces of costume on the street, jewely, more glitter, litter and trash--and then go briefly back to the "occupation" theme (really just touching on it) before closing it off with some brief interaction between the narrator and maybe a fairy/angel girl who's also watching the military parade. I don't know if I'm going to come back to this at all. I think I mostly just wanted to get it out--I did go to Madison last weekend, and it was quite an experience, one I really wanted to write something about. I've been trying, and I really can't get back into the mindset I want to write this. When and if I do, though, I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind.
