[color=#6699cc]This is my version of Aura. (I'm also drawing a Melinoë...) I hope you guys don't mind. :) I was trying to make her look... comicbooky. I don't know if it really worked, heh. She looks like a cross between Poison Ivy and Catwoman. [/color]

[color=#6699cc]I'm probably the most like Ami. There were some episodes about her that really struck a chord with me, especially when I was younger and a killer bookworm perfectionist. Thankfully, I've loosened up a bit since then. :) My favorites are Uranus and Neptune. Neptune is almost a sickeningly [i]good[/i] person--you know, noble and kind and all that. She seems very sweet. I sound a bit offish, I know, but I'm serious. Of the characters in the show, she's not necessarily the most earnest or sincere, but she's strong, talented, and pretty selfless. Almost serene, you know? Uranus I admire because of her whole attitude. She's very independant, and very loyal...even if her priorities don't always match the rest of the Scouts'. She's determined, and although she seems callous, she's not really that bad. Without the rough exterior, she's bbe a pretty blasé character, but it makes her all the more endearing when you see her soft side. It's also relieving to see some maturity in the show every once in a while. Serena sure does get on one's nerves. :) [/color]

[quote name='Shinmaru]The only anime to make me honestly sad, and anywhere close to tearing up, is Grave of the Fireflies, which I just watched a couple of days ago. I would say that overall the saddest moment in the film is [spoiler]when Setsuko finally dies... she and Seita went through so much crap, and it's so disheartening to see such a sweet character suffer so much. The fact that she and Seita are reunited in death is a bit comforting, but still.[/spoiler'] I'm feeling horrible just recalling that right now lol.[/quote][color=#6699cc]That whole movie was heartbreaking. Even the wonderful, innocent moments (like the fireflies themselves) are tinted with sadness, because you know that [spoiler]Setsuko and Seita do die. (This spoiler is a bit short to just leave as two words, so here's some filler.)[/spoiler] It's a beautiful, very real movie, and the kids are portrayed so wonderfully. I don't think that knowing [spoiler]right from the beginning what happens to them[/spoiler] ruins the movie at all (you mentioned in the Zone that some peope had said that), but it does make the movie that much sadder throughout (as opposed to, say, having just a few truly awful moments at the end.) I wonder, does that make sense?[/color]

What ever happened to the chat we had a few years back?
Sara replied to TailTactics's topic in Help & Feedback
[quote name='TailTactics']Excellent. I'll make a thread dedicted to people who would like to start a chat room on this website. :excited:[/quote][color=#6699cc]Nooooooo. That's not what I meant. On AIM, you can make a chatroom and give it a name. For example, you could name the room "Otaku Chat." Anyone who types in the room name "Otaku Chat" can join that chatroom--[i]your[/i] chatroom. If you want people to be aware of it, I suggest putting it in your signature. Something like "Want to talk? Visit the chatroom [b]Otaku Chat[/b] on AIM." Ask other people to put the notice in their signatures as well. --- Roxie is referring to something that happened a year or two ago that was very similar in nature. There was a chatroom called "tehsillycircus," and many people from myOtaku and OtakuBoards participated at one time or another. I don't have the records (although I'm sure SOMEBODY does, but it lasted for days, if not weeks. So if you give a chatroom a unique name, and make people aware of it, chances are that people will participate.[/color] -
[color=#6699cc]I am actually working on some "team portraits." Or was... it seems almost a waste, if the teams are constantly going to change. Hm. I do quite like the style of the last picture you posted, Sage. Is the Yin-Yang a big symbol for Melinoë, or did you just add it for stylistic reasons? (I understand how it would be symbolic, but I was wondering if it was something you meant to emphasize, or something that just seems coincidentally appropriate.)[/color]

What ever happened to the chat we had a few years back?
Sara replied to TailTactics's topic in Help & Feedback
[color=#6699cc]It isn't, and I don't believe it's slated to return. If you'd like to chat with Otaku members, I believe your best bet is to find approach them individually on AIM. Alternately, you could create a theOtaku Chat chatroom on AIM. With some work and dedication, it's possible that you could get many people to use such a room. This forum is for specifically anime-related things (individual series and cross-series threads). This thread belongs in the Suggestions forum. I'm moving it there now.[/color] -
[color=#6699cc]Imagine if he and Chavez were classmates! Robertson would be expelled and have this put on his permanent record. Yay for zero tolerance! ...Ahem.[quote name='Rumsfeld in the article']"He's a private citizen. Private citizens say all kinds of things all the time."[/quote]Oh, those crazy private citizens! The whole thing just seems very bizarre to me. I mean, since when does [i]anyone[/i] pay attention to televangelists? And suddenly one is thrust into the national news, huzzah! At least this is more interesting than a misappropriation of funds. [quote name='Mr. Robertson's website']Robertson's ancestry includes Benjamin Harrison, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and governor of Virginia, and two United States presidents, William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison, the great-grandson of the signer of the Declaration of Independence. Robertson also shares ancestry with Winston Churchill.[/quote]Things like this crack me up, too. I mean...[i]why?[/i] It's not like that makes him a noble or anything. Bizarre.[/color]

[quote name='Harry']What magical pizzas do you eat that are healthy for you?[/quote][color=#6699cc]Actually, you know what's really good? Pita bread with sauce, cheese, and lots of fresh veggies. You don't even need to cook it. Oh, for yumminess. [/color]

[color=#6699cc]Completely as an aside, I love corn syrup. Do I see a conspiracy? No, I don't. Do I see a lot of lazy people looking for an easy fix for their weight problems? Yeah. Yeah, I do. On the topic of health food, I don't really see the point. Eating "healthy choice" candy bars isn't going to help you lose weight, especiallly when you buy them a dozen at a time. Sure, if you drink soda at every meal, switching to "diet" will help... [i]marginally[/i]. But it would be so much better to cut out the soda and drink something healthier. I mean, fruit juice is still incredibly sweet. A cup of OJ or apple juice is better for you than a can of soda, all around. Is it high in sugar? Yeah, it is, but it's half the amount you'd get in a regular can of soda. Does it taste better than the diet cola? Heck yes. Does it kick you over the top for your needed Vitamin C? You bet. And the real problem, in my experience, isn't that the food you eat is necessarily unhealthy. You just eat [i]too much[/i] of it. I'm sure everyone here has heard some one go on about how a Big Mac or Whopper meal contains, like, quadruple your recommended daily calorie intake. Once in a while, your body can take that in stride. But even once a week? You're gonna gain weight. I'm in college, and most folks I know keep snack food in their room. It might work for them, but it would be a hugely bad idea for me. Why? Because I'd snack all the time. If there's food around, I munch on it until it's gone. I know this, so I make a point not to keep food in my room. Because even if it's just a bag of baked, lo-fat (the lack of a "w" signifies just how lo-fat it is :)) tortilla chips, I'll snack on them all day, and not be hungry for dinner. As a result, what have I eaten that day? A bag of tortilla chips. Is it healthier than eating deep-fried potato chips? Well, maybe. But it's sure not what's going to keep me healthy. I [i]know[/i] this about myself, so I make sure I avoid those circumstances The issue isn't that people need diet or healthy versions of the food their eating now. The issue is that people have no self-control and don't care about their health enough to bother making a real change. [/color]

[color=#6699cc]Raiyuu and I [i]both[/i] emphasized that things in this thread needed to remain civil. Again, I apologise that we are not as omnipresent as you might like. We can't be everywhere, and we can't do anything. Frankly, expecting us to is laughable. If something is an issue, yes! By all means, report it. If you can't be arsed to hit the button and spend ten seconds explaining why a post is out of line, I don't believe you truly have a right to complain when and if things come to a head. Ilium, you can't reasonably compare your last post to Otaku America's last post. He posted fairly calmly, basing his response on what he believes is a solid source of truth. It's not sweet, but it's the entire object of the discussion which you engaged wth him. You replied with insults that were completely out of line. However much you may disagree with or dislike him, it is your responsibility as a member here to remain civil. If you cannot do that, you will be banned. Sage managed to post quite politely: [quote=Sage]Finally you made a post without emphasizing your own ego and your own rightfullness. I'm proud of you, Otaku America. ;) But you still have to understand that not everybody are as devouted to religion as you are, and most of the population in this planet do not share your views. So you cannot claim that you're absolutely right, you can only say you [b]believe[/b] you are right.[/quote] To quote a discussion I had with Azure, I believe [b]there are degrees[/b] here. An appropriate response to the word "sinner" might be the term "closed-minded." An [i]inappropriate[/i] response would be "useless turd" or "scum of the earth." I stand by my decision. If you have further issue, it needs to be discussed elsewhere. As it is, the last several posts here have not been discussing the topic itself but flaming that occured within the thread. Thread locked.[/color]

[QUOTE=firemac]Hi, I just rejoined, and I used to post here in the past. I was just wondering if anyone from like 4 years ago still exists. =P If not, consider this my intro thread.[/QUOTE][color=#6699cc]Whoa, blast from the past. There are people around, though you'd be hard-pressed to recognise them through the name changes. (I was Cera around that time). Intro threads are no longer allowed here, I'm afraid, so I'll be closing this. Just start posting normally. You should review our rules, as well.[/color]

[quote name='Chabichou][COLOR=#004a6f']I swear, where are the mods? Why don't you tell people using insults to back off?[/COLOR][/quote][color=#6699cc]I apologise, Chabi, that we are not on OtakuBoards 24-7. The post in question was out-of-line, but it was posted less than an hour and a half ago. If you feel that something needs urgent attention [i]report the post[/i]. Any staff responsible for the forum where the reported post lies will get an email about it. Don't just whine about it, lol. I mean, geez. [i]That's[/i] going to help. Ilium, flaming is [i]not allowed[/i]. If it happens again, you'll be banned. I've deleted your post. If you wish to restate your ideas in a less inflammatory manner, you are free to do so.[/color]

[color=#6699cc]I think the 11% thing was going along the lines of "I wish that this 11% of the populace who supported (and voted) for Bush a year ago had changed their minds [i]before[/i] he was elected."[/color] -
[quote name='ShonenSamuraiMugen']Yeah I guess you're right, Lore. When someone calls you a dork it means they dislike you and you are only that in their eyes sometimes. But if you are called a jock or a prep you usually are no matter what.[/quote][color=#6699cc]Wow, you totally twisted what I said. "Prep" and "jock" are used as insults. That [i]does not[/i] mean that every person who is called a prep is an snob who only cares about buying ridiculously expensive clothes, or that every person who is called a jock is a blockhead who's only joy in life is clobbering people on the football field and dating cheerleaders. Anyway, whether something you like is considered nerdy, preppy, or whatever else, just be yourself. You'll be much happier with yourself later on.[/color]

[quote name='René][COLOR=Indigo][SIZE=1][FONT=Arial]Don't fix it if it isn't broken only breeds stagnation, which is the exact reason so many bands fail - they operate under that principal and get [b]boring[/b]. They don't experiment, and change their sound, and people end up not caring.[/FONT][/SIZE'][/COLOR][/quote][color=#6699cc]ZOMG! René likes teh sell-outz!!!!1 Ahem. Gwen Stefani freaks me out a bit right now. She's super-pale, her skin is whiter than her hair, and when she dresses in white or has her hair pulled up, I swear she looks like an alien. But that's just me. I think "If I Were a Rich Girl" is catchy, but I cringe every time I hear it. I loved [i]Fiddler on the Roof[/i], and I feel like she's desecrating it. Other than that, I got nothing.[/color]

[color=#6699cc]I began using the internet in earnest my freshman year of high school. (Late start, eh?) Before that I had hung out in Excite VP chatrooms, and most of my non-chat adventures were looking around for avatars to use, or searching for information when [i]The Amber Spyglass[/i] was going to come out. I'd looked for information for school projects in grades 7&8, but never found anything very useful. I had [i]far[/i] better things to do than wait for things to load on our connection (we're talking at several minutes per page, and the better part of an hour on the image-heavy avatar sites I was browsing), so other than chat, or a required "internet source" for school reports, not much happened. Somewhere along the line we got a moderately [i]faster[/i] dial-up connection. I was [i]amazed[/i] at the speed, and suddenly (finally) understood why anyone would bother "browsing the web" as a hobby.[/color]

[color=#6699cc]When I was a lass, I fell out of love with recess and began bringing books to read outside during lunch hour. I enjoy writing very much. Stories are tricky because of the level of planning involved (for me; I tend to layer things a bit too much to actually get the story out), so most of my writing appears in papers or here on OB and myO. They are rants and first-person experiences, and I enjoy it. I have fun writing, and I think that's why other people can have fun reading it. I also enjoy drawing, painting, and sculpting. And while I'm fair to good with them, again, I think it's only because I enjoy them. I have a sculpture from my junior year of high school that is utter crap: I didn't want to do sculpture in that class, I couldn't think of anything to do, and as much as I tried, I couldn't get the project off the ground. The next sculpture I did was voluntary, painstaking, and an idea I loved. It turned out wonderfully. [quote=tangent]I really feel that the biggest part of being "creative" is just that--[i]being creative[/i]. Once you've got an idea or a vision, you can stick with it until is complete, and it will [i]work[/i]. I don't know how much innate "talent" has to do with things, really. I think there's a knack to most endeavors, but the real reason you get "good" is practice, trial and error, and finding a style that works for you. I hear so many people say to me, "Oh, I wish I were good like you, but I suck at writing/drawing/singing/art." That's really just silly. I could say the same thing about sports to my soccer-fiend friend: "You're so good at soccer. I wish I could do that." But for goodness sake, she's been playing since she was, like, [i]three[/i]. I can't expect to grab a ball and go out there and hold my own against her. No one would expect that to happen! Getting into something new takes determination, persistance, and practice. If you've been doing it all your life, it comes naturally, but that isn't a level playing field or a fair comparison.[/quote][/color]

[color=#6699cc]I have closed this thread for several reasons. First, there is already an official OB [url=http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?t=32676]Fruits Basket thread[/url]. Before starting a new thread about an anime, please check the [url=http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?t=38208]Official Threads Directory[/url] to see if there is already a thread about it. More detail can be found in our official rules or in the [url=http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?t=37269]How to Post[/url] sticky at the top of the Anime Lounge main page. Second, double and triple posting (posting more than once in a row) is not allowed at OtakuBoards. If you have something you wish to add to a post, use the EDIT button at the bottom of the original post. You can modify any part of the post (excluding, if yours is the first post in a thread, the thread title.) Third, it is important that any given thread stay generally on topic. Example: a Fruits Basket thread should not be used to discuss how to get an avatar or how to post an image. Finally, the general post quality in this thread is quite bad. [b]abreywind maste[/b], please integrate some punctuation and capitalisation into your posts and stop double posting. Also, if you are going to answer a question, if would be helpful if you gave the correct answer. [b]frubafan4eva[/b], please use capitalisation. In most cases, each part of your post does not need to be on a different line. [b]unidancer2003[/b], one word (or one-image) posts are not allowed. Please take to heart what I have already said about double posting. To answer your question, you were on the right track with posting images. If the image is already online (such as the one you were trying to post), simply take the image URL and paste it between the [img] and [/img] tags. The URL you want is the one where [i]only[/i] the image itself is visible. (For your image, it would be "http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/darkprincesskyosdream/kyobump.jpg".) You can get to this by right clicking on the image and opening the image in a new window or a new tab. Alternatively, you can upload images from your computer using the option in the "Reply to thread" page. The image will then appear as a thumbnail and a link at the bottom of your post. [/color]

[QUOTE=abreywind maste]there are many games that exist that should be made into an anime movie or show but have not been The game I would seriously want to change into an anime is tales of symphonia that would be so cool And anime into game is vandread[/QUOTE][color=#6699cc]Welcome to OtakuBoards. Double posting is not allowed here: if you discover that you have forgotten to say something, use the "edit" button at the bottom of your post. That will allow you to add more information, change the format, correct spellling errors, etc. Please read our [url=http://www.otakuboards.com/rules.php?]Rules[/url] before you continue posting. Punctuation would make your posts much more enjoyable to read. Thanks. -Lore[/color]

[color=#6699cc]Hey there. Welcome to OtakuBoards. The system of posting in the Anime Lounge is probably a bit different than at other forums that you may go to. For an overview, you can read James's [url=http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?t=37269]How to post in Anime Lounge[/url] sticky. (In a nutshell, all discussion about an anime should be contained to one thread.) When starting a new thread, it's useful to use the "search" function or check Dagger's [url=http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?t=38208]Thread Directory[/url], which is a pretty comprehensive list of all the anime that already have threads here. The [url=http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?t=14124]sCRYed thread is here[/url]. Happy posting![/color]

Anime What if you could have any Anime turned into a movie?
Sara replied to a topic in Otaku Central
[quote name='skyatyourfeet']Azu Manga Daioh[/quote][color=#6699cc]Hello, and welcome to OtakuBoards. Please read our [url=http://www.otakuboards.com/rules.php?]rules[/url] before you continue posting. Posts containing of a single word, title, or sentence fragment are not allowed. Please follow the example set by most other people in this thread and expand on your idea a bit. Thanks. -Lore On topic, I think I'd like to see an anime interpretation of [i]Kill Bill[/i]. The original is quite stunning, and while I wouldn't want it remade, an animated companion piece would be pretty sweet. Something in the flavor of the [i]Animatrix[/i] would fit very well (with different chapters being in different styles) and it would be cool to get some more story. (Vernita Green, anyone?)[/color] -
[color=#6699cc]I think I'm gonna send this over to the movie forum. If Manic or Petie don't want it, they can bounce it back over here.[/color]

[color=#6699cc]I am working to keep Anime Lounge at the same level of quality that is required at every other part of OtakuBoards. If you've got a concern, you're welcome to take it up with me. If you'd rather not talk with me, both Dagger and Desbreko are in a position to tell me to cool down. Inciting rebellion among the masses is probably not your best bet. And this is really going to be a jab, but 1.) your post quality isn't great, 2.) threads about improving the site should be in the [i]Suggestions[/i] forum, and 3.) threads about Manga should be in the [i]manga[/i] forum.[/color]

Funny and/or meaningful Quotes lines and sayings

[color=#6699cc]I think the greatest danger of a thread like this is that people are liable to misword great quotes and not do them justice.[/color]
