1. This is an anime that I actually mean to see. I remember reading an article about it...early last year? I don't really recall, but I remember being very taken with the images presented, and interested by the concept and the characters. I remember thinking that it reminded me of Serial Experiments Lain. Is there anything to that? I actually had a Rakka avatar and banner for a while, heh, which is unusual, since I don't often have both at the same time. two sandcastles, Sara
 2. Leo stood cockily. "I'm Leo Fibonacci. Rather disapppointingly, given the array of countries represented," he grinned, "I grew up in town. "I'm a senior; been in drama for the last three years. This is my first film class. I was looking for slacker classes to take this semester, and my director suggested this one." He laughed as one of the girls gave him a shocked look. He ticked a few more things off on his fingers: "I have a sense of humor. I'm a show off. I like spicy food." He nodded to Jordan. "I played the oboe in middle school until the band director bumped me over to bassoon. I volunteer at an after-school program on weekday afternoons, so if we actually need to do any filming outside of classtime, after school's out for me. "My favorite color is chartreuse, my favorite movie is Young Frankenstein, I quote Monty Python like a madman--I'm in drama, it comes with the territory--I've never met a man I didn't like, and I enjoy long walks by the beach and getting caught in the rain." He paused, giving the impression he had more to say. The pause lengthened until it was apparent that he was finished, and he sat down again, still grinning. Senpai arched an eyebrow. "Thank you, Leo."
 3.
It also gives the helpful advice: "When signaling to other drivers, use more than one finger."
Heh, that's hilarious. The most interesting thing I recall my DE manual having was some elaborate rules about who owns roadkill. For example, if you hit a deer, you are entitled to keep it. HOWEVER, if you leave (even with the intention of coming back to get it later), anyone who happens along may take it. Isn't that fascinating? Or even....dare I suggest it... Interesting, most interesting? toodles, Sara
 4.
Oh, HI can someone plz create me a picture of THE BRIDE from kill bill (Uma) but a male counterpart...i am making a fan fiction and i need that kind of picture thank you all......
So, uh..what? THE GROOM? Do you want a guy in a matching yellow suit, or what? I think you need to give people a tad more information if you want anything drawn that's going to meet your expectations. the simple bear necessities, Sara
 5.
I hate snow and I hate the cold.[/size']
I have to admit, I'm a big fan of being warm, heh. Still, I can't imagine living somewhere where it's actually warm all year long. It'd be just nutty. One thing I will say that I do not care for about winter is Driving in the Snow. Losing control of your vehicle is not a fun experience. The first time it happened to me was crazy, too--I didn't just slip a little on the ice, turning a bit too far or not stopping for an extra second. The car I was driving started fishtailing down the street, veering across both sides of the road. I was trying to "steer" is to keep it from crashing into the snowbanks on either side of the street, but all I could really do was send it veering in the other direction for a second or two before I had to spin the wheel the other way. Then the whole thing just starting spinning around (while heading every closer to the the end of the dead-end road). It spun around three times, and an extra half-spin put me finally skidding to a stop, facing the direction I had come from. Which was good, because if I'd've had to try and pull a Y-turn, I probabably just would have gotten out of the car, left it, and walked to the house of my nearest friends. I've never been so shaken in my life, heh. I ended up slowly driving away to said friends' house (they weren't there, but their parents were) and calmly asking for a glass of water. It's funny in retrospect, but yeesh. Heh. Fortunately, I've never had another experience quite so extreme as that. punk rock 101, Sara
 6.
One word: Oregon. Well, actually, seven words: The most boring place on earth, Oregon.[/size']
Shift your paradigm, dude! No one wants to hear about how boring your city is. People who don't live there care even less than people who do, heh. Unless there's some grand prize for Most Boring Town Represented on OtakuBoards, in which case I'd love to know what the criteria are. ^_~ buck up buttercup, Sara
 7. Oh, I think not. Advertising is not allowed. Nice try. If you have any intention of sticking around at OB, you may put your referral link in your signature. Sorry, kiddo. golly Bullwinkle, Sara
 8.
My most memorable costume was when I dressed as a student from Hogwarts. It pissed me off because some of the girls were giggling and calling me Harry Potter. :flaming:
And this surprised you? Come on, heh. Some things, you do--you need to be able to handle how people are bound to respond, heh. This goes back to wrist cutter's "Don't go out of your way to get beat up" mantra. There's absolutely no problem with doing something you love, but if you're in a situation with idiots (and hey--who isn't? I'm jealous!) you need to be prepared to accept some ridicule, heh. You dressed up like a kid from Hogwarts--people are going to think "Harry Potter." I'm not really sure why someone felt the need to pop this thread up during the Christmas season, but as long as it stays on track, I guess I don't really have a problem with it. Happy holidays, heh. what's this? Sara
 9.
I feel so.. stupid. I was one of those kids who actually tried to believe in santa. XD[/SIZE']
Dude! I'm totally with you all the way on that one. We're not stupid, we're totally awesome. I fought to believe in Santa/Rudolph/Tooth Fairy, etc., for years. There was always this vague idea of something not seeming quite right...but I was okay with the oddness, and squelched that feeling whenever possible. What little kid doesn't want to believe in Santa? I feel sorry for him, heh. It's all about the magic. like a lightbulb, Sara
 10.
Good Ol' South-West Western Australia. And thats as much as I'm giving away ~_^
*quietly notes this, and waits for his next locationary slip-up* Wow, all you guys saying your towns are boring. Make your own fun, people. Heh. If you're really bored, go to your local chamber of commerce and ask for some information on the city. Get a friend with a car and drive around, playing dumb tourists. EVERY city/town/hamlet has some lame historical or geographical oddity. ("And our historical town square, where angry pickle factory workers held a strike for three months in the summer of 1907...") Or you can do what I do and go for a picnic. Or a walk. Or go people-watching at Wal-mart or something. Sure, it's creepy, but still. Don't tell me there's nothing to do, heh...all you need is a sense of humor, and you can have a blast doing math homework, for crying out loud. (Granted, said blast would be short-lived and extremely explosive, but still!) I live in Ray-town Wisconsin (Midwestern USA), although I go to school in Minneapolis. It's cold and a bit snowy at the moment, and I'm looking forward to hanging out with my friends once we're all done "Christmassing" with our families. Rockin! like birds of a feather would be, Sara
 11.
I got KOTOR II, a Yellow Sweatshirt and a date. Definitely a great day.
Lucky man, heh. I'm almost ridiculously happy with everything I received this year (I'd tell you what I got other people, but I've listed it off for my friends so many times already that I might well fall asleep if I did). The strangest present I got this year was by far the Edgar A. Poe Action Figure that my brother got me. Thrilling stuff, I tell you! Thrilling! I also got The Art of Miyazaki's Spirited Away, which you may be sure I will spend the next few days poring over, heh. Other nifty things I received from various family:

Giant Wish Bear pillow/plush toy. It's large, and soft, and I love it.
Winter boots. Ahhh....Warm and soft. And warm. I no longer have to worry about freezing when I walk to and from classes!
Several books on words and phrase origins, as well as a book of "everyday" Latin phrases
Some fun music--Five Iron Frenzy.
A gigantic tin of altoids (three different flavors)
Stickers! Ha ha, you knew it was coming. ^_^
A power strip, a thermos, some duct tape, and Silly Putty!
And I couldn't be happier with what I got. nearly like a picture print, Sara
 12. I've yet to see more than a dusting of snow this season, but I don't mind. Don't get me wrong, I love playing in the snow...but I was extremely happy that I didn't have to walk to class in it! (At least, until I got winter boots.) Two years ago, my sister and I got home after school and discovered that the snow in our front yard was perfect for packing. We thought we'd make a snow fort and pelt our brothers when they got home a couple hours later. Well, that idea sort of changed, and we ended up being outside well after the boys (and later, our dad) got home. Everyne helped, and by the time it was dark, we had built....a Snow Sphinx. It was bigger than my truck, heh. It was awesome. Last year we had a row of giant Tiki heads in our front lawn. This winter, if it snows in the next couple weeks (while I'm home for break) I'm going to built a Snow-toro in our yard. That'll be awesome. ^_^ laughing all the way, Sara
 13. The Twelfth Day of Christmas "Feathers everywhere, guano all over the lawn--we're practically growing an ORCHARD in the courtyard--the ballroom is bursting with nobles I've never met, and another cow--" Ding...dong. "Princess Elizabeth WHITTLEBY!" ...Meekly, fingering her rings: "Yes, mother?" "You get out there and tell your 'true love' he is no longer welcome at this castle!" in three-quarter time, Sara
 14. I've had some interesting dreams. One I mentioned recently on myO involve my dating a guy named Umberto Eco. According to Azure, that's weird beyond belief. I'll admit, that dream was strange...but not really because of Eco, heh. (It also involve my crush at the time, Gackt, strawberries, organized cattle Revolution, and the Rocky Horror Picture Show.) I don't have it typed out, but I'd paste it here if I did. What's really fun is looking at your dreams and trying to figure out where all the elements came from. (I'd recently read a book by Umberto Eco, gone strawberry picking, gone to a party with my crush, etc.) In any case...Azure, it's not that weird. It isn't like I was actually dating the author...just some guy with the same name. ^_~ ...and a partridge in a pear tree, Sara
 15. As a gal who has lived her life in an overwhelmingly conservative-christian-republican environment, my feelings on this are mixed. Except on OtakuBoards (and that's rather pathetic, in a way) I have never heard discussion on abortion that came even close to having two sides. The topic occasionally came up in Theology classes, and it would invariably degenerate into both the teacher and his upper middle class students saying extremely judgemental, nasty things about persons who would even consider ever having an abortion. It was kind of awkward. That being said... In the most idealistic way possible, I believe that life is precious. I can't understand why anyone would maliciously hurt another person. I realize it happens, but it isn't something I can comprehend the motive to (nor do I wish I could.) In the same way, I like to believe that most people feel the same way about life that I do. I understand that this isn't necessarily so, and it saddens me a little, but I cannot do much about it. I would like to think that any woman (and hopefully, man) put in a position where abortion becomes a viable option would consider the matter very carefully. The idea that someone would decide to "kill" (I'm not going to get into the question of when or where life starts, so please don't ask me to. The quotes are there because I know it's an issue of debate) her child is heartbreaking in and of itself, and the emotional ramifications are great. (As they are also for adoption. Some women choose an abortion because they can't bear the thought of another person having their child.) If a woman can look at her situation and see abortion as a viable option, I can't imagine what a difficult decision that would be to have to make. I hope never to be put in a situation where I would have to find out. two turtledoves, Sara
 16.
Why has this never occurred to me? As soon as I am in a location where both milk and chocolate syrup are within my grasp, I'm going to see what this is like for myself.[/color']
Heheh, Tori's so cute. My friend Elsa fills her cup about a quarter full of chocolate chips before adding hot chocolate (pre-mixed and warm, from the dispenser in the cafeteria). I agree that hot chocolate is infinitely better with milk. It's just....yummier. I also make tomato soup with milk, yum. Actually, buttered toast dipped in hot chocolate is a wonderul winter snack. I encourage everyone to have some. Heh. I actually just had some hot chocolate that (upon closer investigation of the container) turned out to be hot chocolate expresso. It's quite good, and I'm quite untired. Heh. three french hens, Sara
 17. Don't be silly. Of course Santa exists. Threads such as this, however, are likely to put you on his "naughty" list. Please be sure to read our rules (located in the left-hand column on your screen) before you continue posting. Merry Christmas. ^_^ four calling birds, Sara
 18. I've not had any experiences with road rage, happily. Well...when I was learning to drive, I did have a couple people blow past me, angry that I was driving the speed limit. Actually, come to think of it, my DE instructor constantly yelled at me for going too slowly. Among other things. Funny to think I'm still angry with him about that stuff. Long before I learned how to drive, though, someone gave me this quaint saying. Which I've always actually kept in mind. "Let him have his accident somewhere else." Some people are going to crash. Your job is to make sure they don't involve you. five golden rings, Sara
 19.
Sadly, I took the test two times. 1st time this morning, and got about... I think it was 120, but I took in now at...11:10 pm and got a 114. God, not only do I need some sleep, but I also don't believe in the IQ tests like most of the people here. I'll take it again tomorrow after breakfast and edit with my new results.
Out of curiousity, if you don't give it much credit, why do you keep taking it? :p off like a prom dress, Sara
 20.
I'm wondering when someone will open a really fun RPG. Something that doens't involve zombies and death like the ones that are starting now. Something romanic, like the Watermelons and sun RPG thingy...
You can always start one yourself...that's the beauty of the Arena. If you don't like what's in there, change it, heh. And I don't see how you could possible glomp all the RPGs starting now as having to do with "zombies and death," heh. I signed up for two this week that (as far as a cursory inspection goes) involved neither. ^_~ defender of the universe, Sara
 21.
talking about high school, lol...
Ask your school office, lol... Seriously, I don't see how you could possibly expect anyone here to know how your school is going to handle such a situation. You need to talk to the office at your school (possibly both schools) and sort it out for yourself. send me a kiss by wire, Sara
 22. I'm thinking about how nice I feel. I slept really well last night, (despite not goig to bed until three), and woke up slowly and cheerfully this morning. The sort of "waking up slowly" that easily translates to one of the best feelings in the world. Lying in bed, and very slowly realising that you're no longer asleep. Sunlight is coming in through the window, and you roll over and look up at the ceiling. The room is light with that sort of "false dawn" grey color, even though it's almost eleven in the morning, because your curtains are closed, and even though it's sunny outside, the light coming in is muted and white-grey. And you roll over again, and close your eyes, and pull the blankets back up over your head because, for the first time in so very, very long, you don't have to wake up today. That's what I'm thinking about. ^_^ kid tested, mother approved, Sara
 23.
I'm 14.[/SIZE']
Whoa, talk about your disappointment! When I saw this: I came in here, convinced you'd say at least 900. :( I joined the boards in 2001, a few days after my fifteenth birthday. Which would make me....*does some quick mental math*...almost nineteen. I was a freshman in high school. Now I'm a freshman in college. Can you say LAMER? Heh. only as old as you feel, Sara
 24. The Challenge: Write a story in 55 words or less. Well, "or fewer," to be grammatically correct, but you knew what I meant. And ideally, it would be 55 words exactly, and we wouldn't have to worry about any of this indefinite plural stuff. The Rules: The name of the game is "55 Fiction." That means 1.) You're writing a story. It should include:

Setting
Characters
Conflict
Resolution
2.) You are not writing poetry, idle thoughts, or anything else that does not fit the above requirements. Your story should be 55 words long. Hyphenated words do not count as one word ("red-orange" would be two words, not one.) Contractions do count as one. ("it is" would be two words; "it's" would be one.) The title of your story does not count towards your word limit; however, it should be no more than seven words. You can write horror, drama, mystery, spoof, romance, adventure, science fiction, fantasy, kids' stuff, whatever you'd like. If you're got questions, ask. Note: I've rated this thread [PG]. If you'd like to post something that you believe would fall under an [M] category, that's fine. However, please put the appropriate M-rating [M-V/S/L] in the header of your post and "spoiler" out the body of your story as a courtesy to others. --------- What if Australia Discovered the World? She asked. "They didn't," I said. "I know...but what if they did?" She fingered the globe on my desk. "Would all our maps be upside down?" "It's getting late," I told her. "Go to bed, sweetie." She smiled, kissed me, and padded off. Later, alone in my office, I reached slowly for the globe. hypothetically, Sara
 25. When I read manga, I usually "ration" myself to only a bit at a time. Almost exactly like Dagger said--I read very quickly, and when I go through something very fast (as it's almost impossible not to do with manga) I'm left a little disappointed. I do love looking at the drawings, though, and I find myself being able to appreciate the artwork a great deal. The lack of color is an interesting point, because I often imagine things with certain looks, only to find out that my mental image has got characters' hair (or outfits, or fur...heh) all the wrong colors. So that's rather irritating. (Not necessarily on the side of the manga, but that the anime got my colors wrong, heh.) In general, I would rather have manga than anime, I think, because I just don't like watching television or movies alone. Reading, on the other hand, is a very enjoyable solo activity. I enjoy watching things, of course, but only with friends. Having anime on DVD (that I woudln't really enjoy watching alone) seems like a waste. puppy dog tails, Sara
