The girl sitting next to you is not stupid, and calling her stupid simply because she's struggling with a musical instrument is...despicable, in my opinion.
Alex took the words out of my mouth. I don't know the exact situation, or whether or not she has come "special circumstance" that explains her difficulties (Is she new to school? Did she just pick up the instrument recently? etc.), but struggling with band has nothing to do with a person being, as you so delicately put it, stupid. Having such a callous neighhbor probably isn't helping her confidence or performance, either. Age has nothing to do with musical ability, either, as it happens. No matter how early (or late) you start playing an instrument, everyone starts at the same level and has to practice to get better. I played clarinet for six years in middle and high school, and I can guarantee that a large chunk of my life (although perhaps not quite as large as it should have been, heh) was dedicated to playing that instrument. Especially when you're beginning to play (or after picking an instrument up after, say, a summer of not playing), there's a lot of stuff to take in and get used to. Reading music, in and of itself, can be very hard when you're first learning, never mind getting all the fingerings, counts, and key changes right. Even with all the time I've spent playing music (Did anyone else have to play recorders/flutaphones in grade school?), I haven't done much with it in the last two years. I can guarantee that my kid brother (who is four years younger than I am) is better at sax than I am at clarinet, if only because he's been playing consistantly for the last few years, where I haven't. I pretty much have to agree with everything Alex just said here. One-sided relationships aren't fun for either person involved. While I can understand that you've been hurt, you should also realize how alarming it can be when someone (you don't want to go out with) is obsessing over you. You've been posting about this girl on myO for the last nine months, and you've said it's over with her at least twice. As cold as it may sound, get over it. Keep the phone and move on.

Yeah, I totally always have people accusing me of being a prep, and it makes me so mad! :flaming: They don't understand that by seeming to embrace prep culture, I am actually subtly mocking it, since I would never actually wear the clothes I do--it's all a delicate irony, and no one gets it. No one else has ever heard of pseudo-preps, so me and my friends are persecuted all the time. Everyone's like "Preps suck!" and I'm like "I know!" and they're like "You are a prep!" But yeah, I totally know what you mean. I put a lot of work into my outfits and music so I can fit into one category, and then everyone gets the stereotype wrong. What is wrong with people? Are they just stupid, or what? Incidently, it's kinda hard to tell what you're saying. Make sure to read our rules. You can probably post stuff like this in the "Goth" thread--the discussion has evolved to the point where this would fit.

...Yeah, and then their parents will sue. You're going to have to take the high road here, whatever you decide that to be.
They say that HS is to prepare you for real life, yet they don't treat you like it's real life. In real life you can wear whatever kinda **** you want to wear and whatnot so let it be.
Who told you HS was to prepare you for real life? Mine wasn't. In any case, as has been mentioned previously in this thread, "real life" does require uniforms/appropriate dress. Interestingly enough, a recent news article on dress codes at school and in the workplace.

Please help me solve my problems,I am much too dim.

Your friends think you're spending too much time with your boyfriend. Are you? If it's bothering them, talk with them. Don't ask strangers for advice. As for how your two friends get along...you can't do much about that. If one dislikes the other, you can ask why, but you're not going to change her opinion. Again, you should talk with the people involved, not ask for help on a message board. You're unlikely to hear anything worthwhile on the topic. -
Welcome to OtakuBoards. Please read out rules before you continue posting. This type of thread will deteriorate pretty quickly. If you want to make friends here, the best way to do so is to post and get to know people. Best of luck.

I've been at college for about a week and a half now. It's really different from living at home. It's not really weird unless I think about it, heh. I haven't done any partying, heh. My dorm has to be the most study-tastic place I've ever been. It's amazing.
 Ok...I have loaded this attachment and linked to it. The problem is, it doesn't work at times. It just shows up as a box with an X in it. I know I used the right code and linked to it correctly. Does anybody know why this is happening?
If you're not loggeed into OB, I don't believe you can view attachments hosted at OB.

My friend had me listen to the entire song backwards last week, heh. There are supposed lyrics for thhe entire thing played backwards. Interesting, I guess. Mostly, I just found it really annoying to listen to. //

This is actually an idea I've been toying with incorporating into one of the RPGs I'd like to do sometime. (No immediate plans, heh, but fun things to think about.) I think the main problem would simply be finding people with enough time and commitment to go in with it. And it can easily go into the current RPG forum. It's there for people to experiment with, after all. ^_^
films like The Legend
I died laughing while watching that movie. the 'Sara' you are familiar with is a clever reanimation of my psyche, adapted to communicate through computers. Sesshomarufan, please don't play mod. It's not necessary, and it makes you look bad. Trust me. ^_~ I think I need to get some of my friends together and just watch some old cheesy movies some time. It would be a nice break from the world, and it's always good to have a few extra cheesy movies under your belt...especially if they help you catch references in other media.
I'm not saying Catwoman is bad-- actually, that is what I'm saying. It bombed. It bombed atomically. It actually wiped out a large Japanese city[/i'] because it was so bad. Check out the attachment.
I love you. You're so funny. I never really liked Superman. He always seemed too...well, it's hard to say. Über perfect and equally annoying, maybe. Not that I really do much with comics, I guess...it's just the impression I get of him.

I'm sure there are many places on the web where you can discuss this intriguing sort of thing. Unfortunately, one of them is not Otaku Lounge. If you've heard otherwise, I apologize, but I cannot see this generating any legit discussion here. (As, I'm sure, you've noticed.) This just isn't the place. Thread Closed.

Holy cow! GaLxY! *laughs* It's so cool to see you again. (It's Sara/Cera. You know, they do let you change your name if you ask nicely.) The pictures look great. I really love the way the textures turned out in the first one, especially along the bottom there, underneath the...fish? Is that a fish? How cool. And a butterly up in the corner...or am I seeing things that aren't really there? I coud stare at this for a very long time, heh. I don't know anything about Naruto, but the second pic looks fine to me. Again, the textuures are nifty. There's just something so cool about handdrawn art, as opposed to endlessly CG'd stuff.

There's a lot you could do to improve these. First, try and find higher-quality images. Everything you've got there is very grainy/blurry/otherwise hard to see. I'm not even sure what the images in the first banner are supposed to be. Most banners should have a border. It helps keep things contained, and gives some definition to the image. There are exceptions, but it's a good general rule...especially until you get used to the way things look, and what you can really do with them. Avoid the use of Comic Sans font. Make sure your text is readable over whatever color background you have. Of the ones you posted the 'Sandman' text one looks by far the best.
Library Scolds Senators for Overdue Books Fri Aug 20, 8:43 AM ET Add Oddly Enough - Reuters to My Yahoo! ROME (Reuters) - Italy's Senate library is getting tough on forgetful lawmakers demanding they return books on Adolf Hitler and other subjects that are up to 25 years overdue....
Personally, I think this is really cool. I would love to be involved with a library like this. It sounds very cool, very old, and very laid-back--none of the harried shelvers running around after books placed in the wrong return boxes. I mean, look at this: "Attention. A certain period has passed, so please return them in a good will gesture to the library." A gesture of good will to return books? I love that. I bet they write really nice letters, too. None of this impersonal, mass-produced, computer-generated You currently owe $7.40 junk that I get from my library. ...I mean, no, I never have library fines. ^^
Well, that one painting "Scream" by that Swiss guy(I think his name is Edward Munch) got stolen.Even though it was a little creepy,it was still a really great work of art. This is just another of the gorgeous painting that have been stolen because the museums alarm systems consists of a couple wires that a three year old could break into.Museums need to step up on their security because even painting made by da Vinci have been stolen before. You can check out the painting here: http://www.mystudios.com/treasure/munch/munch-scream.jpg I don't know if this is what you want.But,meh.
Yeah, it's by Edward Munch. I really like this painting. I'm not sure why...there's something about it that just pleases me. I did an art project on it this past spring, so perhaps that's part of my attachment. I never really understood why someone would steal a famous work of art. Well...there's definitely the gloating factor, I suppose. And the thrill and romance of stealing something famous. And the general coolness of the painting itself. And the fact that you could have it and just sort of revel in the fact it was yours. ("My precious!") Okay, so I guess I totally understand why someone would want to steal a famous painting. Particularly such a darkly awesome one as The Scream. *laughs* Watch out, folks. You're witnessing the birth of an art thief.
I am free on Thursday ;). No, well then at least invite me over for some bi-curious fun, I can be your basis for comparison....
*laughs softly* Charlie, you're horrible. And in answer to k9-Girl's question: "Are we all inherently bisexual?" We're all inherently human. Everything beyond that is dependent on individuals.
I mean I wouldn't mind having a gay or bi friend as long as they didn't hit on me
Being hit on by friends that you don't like "in that way" is awkward, no matter what their gender or sexual preference. Kane covered that quite well. If you have any further questions, please PM myself or another moderator. Otaku Lounge is not the place for questions such as this. ^_~

What Balmon said. I sent something in as a joke, and they're still sending me notices asking me to order a book. Which, while flattering, isn't worth my money. *laughs softly* It's also strange, because my poem was extremely lighthearted, and it would seem very out-of-place amidst all the others I'm sure they have. Not to mention that it really didn't go with the somber title of the book.
