1. A discussion of this nature (relatively limited participation) would fit better at a myOtaku account, through PMs, or in a chat room. If you would like outside input on something you have written, please post in the literature forum, and be sure to include a sample of some sort. Thank you.
  2. When your fanart is approved, the link appears automatically..just like magic! You don't need to do anything. ^_~

    help plz

If you have questions, please Private Message myself or another staff member. As it is, no one has any idea what you need help with.
  4. On a similar note, would it be possible to have a generic 'Movies' category for fanart? Not individual categories as such, but perhaps a place other than 'Original Anime' for some art...I know I've seen a couple pieces for the Matrix trilogy (although that's maybe not the best example), and I have some pictures that really aren't from an anime. (The only thing I can think of offhand would be Leeloo from The Fifth Element, but I know I have others as well.)
  5. Welcome to OB, Aanallein. (Did I spell that correctly?) There really isn't any need to introduce yourself here. We used to have a designated place for introductions, but it went the way of the Hindenberg several months back. (It blew up, lots of smoke and flames and headlines, very tragic mess. :p ) Now we ask that members simply jump in and start posting--which I see you've done, already. It's kind of ironic that the only people who don't know that rule are the people it applies to...must do something about that, really. So, yes. Welcome to OB. We'll see you on the boards. If you have any questions, contact myself or another staff member. And as for myself, I'm from Wisconsin.
  6. This really isn't the place for Inuyasha discussion. Any questions or discussion you'd like to bring up about the subject should go in the appropriate thread(s) in our anime forum. It's the first forum you see on the main page.
  7. Welcome to OB. If you'd like to introduce yourself, your best bet is to jump in and start posting. You can also make an account at myOtaku--your myO site can then be seen above each post. If you need help, please feel free to contact myself or any other staff member. ^_^ See you on the boards.
  8. Dan's right. If you do decide to post again, please offer some thoughts/opinion on whatever subject you bring up. Thanks.
  9. My idea of a perfect afternoon involves running to the mailbox and finding an envelope with my name on it. I just love getting mail. One of the saddest things I can imagine is an eternally empty mailbox. That being said, I take precautions to prevent said empty mailbox. Frequenters of myO know that I periodically request (and even receive!) free stickers by post, thus combining two of my favorite things--mail and stickers. Be still, my heart. Anyhoo, I also have several pen pals. My family, school friends, and teachers all know that I am constantly writing letters. (I love writing, too, so this works out pretty well.) I usually have a couple letters going at once--some people require longer replies than others, so I'll start and finish a shorter letter to one person while in the middle of a long one to someone else. But anyway, I probably have half a dozen pen pals right now. I have 'contacts' in five (or so) states and a couple in other English-speaking countries. *waves to them* Next year, I'll also be writing to a girl in Finland and (possibly) two others in Taiwan and Germany. (The last two were exchange students who were at my school this year; whether or not we write each other next year depends on what happens this summer.) (Err...I've gotten a couple PMs about this, so I guess I need to say that I am not currently, uh, accepting applications for new pen pals. Especially if I don't know you--sorry!) So, does anyone else have pen pals? Where do they live? How long have you known them? How did you become pen pals? Anything else interesting that you'd care to share?

Adam, if you ever want to bounce ideas off someone, drop me a line. ^_~
  11. Normally I would have to ask you not to double-post, but I think it's important that Adam can easily see when this thread has been updated. So, yeah. As for ASoulOutThere, yes, she's still stealing fanart. This drawing, for example, was taken from here. Never minding the fact that you can't delete your account without having your password. Also: This image is a fairly well-known piece of art. After being accused by several persons of having stolen it, the user said a friend had drawn it, and he'd asked permission. *shrugs* Your call, Adam.

    Hello.

I doubt anyone was unsure as to whether or not Gotenks was your real name. ^_~ We no longer have a place for Introduction threads on the Otakuboards, so just jump in and start posting. Welcome to OB. Have fun. We'll see you on the boards.
  13.
"You killed my brother. Prepare to die." Classic line.
Blasphemy! It's 'ello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. Trust me on this one, guys. ;) I think I first watched The Princess Bride when I was in seventh grade. I can't believe I survived without it for the first twelve years of my life. I love the characters, I love the setting, I love the dialogue, the story, the music, and any other aspect of it that I might have conceivably missed. I love this movie. I adore this movie. I'm addicted to this movie. I've seen it more times than I can possibly count, I own it on DVD and video, as well as a copy of the book. (Which is also wonderful, especially if you've watched the movie so many times that you've got it memorized. It's got some great backstory--you find out all about how/why Count Rugen killed Domingo (Inigo's father), as well as some other great commentary. Interestingly, some of the grandfather/kid interaction is in the book, too. She does not get eaten by the eels at this point, for example. (Although in the book, I believe they were sharks. This is one of the instances where the movie was better. I mean, come on--if you're going to create a land of fairy tale, which would you rather have: sharks, or shrieking eels?) Westley is quite awesome. The swordfight between him and Inigo is just wonderful. (If you don't understand what the two of them are talking about toward the beginning--I know I never caught any of it until I read the book about a year after I first saw the movie--they're naming fencing styles and talking about the uses of each one. One is better for rocky terrain, etc.) "You are wonderful." "Thank you. I've worked hard to become so." "I admit it, you are better than I am." "Then why are you smiling?" "Because I know something you don't know." "And what's that?" "I am not left-handed!" ..... "There's something I should tell you. "Tell me."
"I'm not left-handed, either."
I get so caught up in this movie, it's pathetic. I swear, I get an adrenaline rush just by watching Inigo's swordfights. And don't even get me started on Vizzini's Iocaine sequence. I typed the whole thing out on myO once, heh. *happy grin*
  14.
Hi.I'm Hakura, and if your wondering, i'm 15.(lol)
This is one of those, "Dear God, why?" moments. Hello, Hakura. If you're wondering, I'm eighteen. Welcome to OtakuBoards. Please don't bring back old threads while in this forum. This particular issue is almost two years old, and unless Mark is really a certain other member in disguise, I'm sure he's moved on with his life and the whole thing is fully resolves and/or forgotten about. This thread is closed.
  15. Nope, no Introduction threads here. Just jump in and start posting. People wil get to know you soon enough. ^_^ Welcome to OB.
  16.
Comment posting error fixed. Also, I *think* I fixed the problem a few users have been experiencing (like Sara/Panda) about text wrapping. Please re-enter your introduction to see if it works right.
Yup. Thanks, Adam. (Now, if I could only get my banner to show up again.....:whoops: )
  17. OB did have this feature at one point. It lead to much confusion, I can tell you that. (I only really changed my name once, and it took months for some of my friends to realize I was the same person.) Charles periodically changes screen names on request, but it's not very high on his priority list.
  18. You want plans for the future? I've got several pages worth of scholarship essay explaining my plans for the future: where I'm going to school, what I'm going to study, how I'm going to finance it, where I'm going after that, my long-term goals and how they will better humanity. I mean, wow. I'm going to the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) next year, where I'm going to do...something...with foreign languages. As I've told the people who've been asking me at home: They'll give me money if I major in German, so...hey, why not. (Aside from the insanity of majoring in a foreign language and whatnot.) So...that'll be fun. Also, cold. Yay for spending the coldest months of the year in northern Minnesota.
  19. There is currently another thread about quotes; any bumper-sticker sayings you wish to share may go in there, accompanied by a brief explanation.
  20. It's funny 'coz it's true. Very amusing, Sir Des. The interview was great, just because....well, yeah.
n order to get an opinion that's actually free of spelling errors, from someone that can see both sides of the issue, we caught up with Desbreko for a few questions.
How did you ever reach him? *smirk*
  21. We've actually had at least two seperate intro/newbie sections in the past, and they were removed both times. Intro threads are no longer allowed anywhere on the boards (this includes Otaku Lounge.) It comes down to the fact that OB is discussion-oriented (wow, how many times have I typed that phrase lately?) and introduction threads offer very little discussion: One person says hello, and half a dozen say hello back. There was a thread with arguements for and against its deletion, but it seems to have been deleted itself. You can also take a peek at this thread for a little bit of OB history. We generally encourage members just just jump in and start posting on the boards themselves. It's more interesting for everyone.
  22.
Hey here is my first comic ever! Please dont laugh. Post your replies, Please!
Ideally...wouldn't you want people to laugh? ;) I can't read what they are saying, but I do have a couple suggestions for you.

Make the boxes more uniform. Make yourself a square template, or find a stencil you can use. It will make things look a lot neater.
Write neatly, and write the text before you draw the speech bubble in. If you need to know where the bubble is going to be, you can sketch that in lightly--but don't try to cram everything you write into an area that's too small.
Make the image a little bigger. If it's too big, break the lines into seperate files. No one will get it if they can't see it.
So, there you go.
  23.
Good job. I wouldn't be surprise if you started an "Ultra-Thin" banner trend around here XD.
Yikes. You know you've been here too long when not only threads, but fads start repeating themselves. Small banners are cool. I like the stylishness you have going with them in general, although I only really like one of them--that's the one you've got in your signature right now (unless you're doing that 'rotating image' thing, in which case it's the purple one.) The others just look odd too me. I'm not sure why...matter of taste, I guess. But I can't really fault your designs or images, so... Yeah.

    Kill Bill 2

*stoically resists urge to read spoilers* I'm going to see it tomorrow with the same folks I watched Volume I with. I can't decide whether that's a good idea, or not, heh. But, I am really looking forward to it.
  25.
Hanson is back. So? From what I've heard, Hanson (who, thankfully, I can now tell are all-male) .

'Mm Bop, ghlakjdsf (incomprehensible jibberish)hljda" What a great line...
I can remember three things about Hanson: First, that it took a long time before I realized (was told, actually) that they were male. *nods to Manic* Second, that ''Mm Bop, ghlakjdsf...hljda" was the closest I every got to understanding any of their lyrics. *nods to JC* Third: One year, my class had a field trip to a local attraction (the Golden Rondelle, a local...attration...thingy.) I no longer have any idea what the presentation was about, but on the way home (we rode with parent drivers) every car had the radio tuned to the same radio station...which was, yes, playing MMMbop. We got back to school right at the end of the song, and it was stuck in everyone's heads for the rest of the school day.
