1. Testing's just something you deal with as a student. If you're that vehement about the whole thing, you can check out this site. (I have such a wonderful array of bizarre sites....) Incidently, please don't title your threads things like "more stupid crap." As a general rule, the title should give people an idea of what they're in for when they click the link.
  2.
It's even worse when they use hand expressions to make "air quotes".
Do people do that in earnest? I "quote" (And...cue appropriate gesture!) things, but it's grossly exaggerated. I wasn't aware people actually did it seriously. (Unless you're miffed at folks like me, which is quite possible.) If you're interested in buzzwords, you can peek around here.
  3. Judging from the way your alter-ego ekpt creeping into your last post, you're either just fine or beyond any help anyone here can offer you. Best with your situation, but I think this thread has run its course.
  4.
I don't want to have to destroy our frienship.
Why would you have to do that? I'm a little confused as to what the issue is. She got suspended for something she posted in a journal? If she really is a good friend, I'd hope you'd talk to her instead of going defcon over rumors.
  5. As for the original question...I'm fairly sure I've seen some friends play it on their own games. I enjoy DDR, but not as much as I could, I guess. A handful of friends enjoy it a lot more, and I always feel rather stupid around them. It's very frustrating, and I get flustered. / It's fun when I go with my sister or other select friends to the arcade, though. It really can be a fun game. (Although it's nice to actually understand what all the arrows mean before someone has you play for the first time.)

  7.
If you want to know how to tkae a girl on a date (ie-time place progression ect.) why would you ask a girl!? That seems kind of odd, because their answer will be tailored to thier desires.
...God forbid. Honestly, I think that would be cute. "So....hypothetically....what would your ideal first date be?" If she likes ya and is willing to go out with you, she'll play along. If not, you'll get a slightly alarmed look and a vague "I...dunno.." answer, and you can pretend it was a joke and go around asking other random people the same question.
  8.
Don't worry. I have a 15 year old boy cousin, and judging by some of the girls I saw him date, your wrong. :p
Please don't bring back old threads in this forum. This discussion died long ago, and any was built on shaky ground to begin with.
  9. I, for one, am infuriated. How am I supposed to lord my superiority over new members without my 5000+ post count?!?! James, I hate you.
  10.
You have a delema?!?!?! I've never seen one of those! .. ... Oh, dillemma.
Dillemma?!?!?!?! I've never seen one of those! .. ... Oh, dilemma. I agree with Boba on this...I really can't offer you any legit advice. However, I did edit your thread title, to save you further half-***** corrections.

    Infomercials

If you hate infomercials, how desperate must you be to watch them? You're not forced to watch TV, you know. A couple summers ago, my brother and sister and I would watch them sometimes. It was a lot of fun, actually. They're so easy to make fun of, and goofing off and parodying them is a blast. I think it's so funny how the hosts actually have to act enthusiastic about whatever product they're trying to sell. Then again, they are getting paid for it... I think I would make a good informercial host. Heh. One amusing thing to do is take bets on what the price is going to be. They never seem to tell you until the very end, so it can be pretty interesting. I've had some detailed debates as to whether they should charge 19.99 or 29.95 for a product. Granted, it was a lazy summer afternoon, and all parties were bored out of their minds...but still. At least we only watched them because we could get amusement out of it. Why you would watch them if you didn't enjoy them....and then complain about them...is beyond me.
  13.
Ah, there are a few songs you hear, and swear to God they're about you. Hmm... I'm certain that Matchbox 20 had me in mind when they wrote Unwell.
I feel the same way about that song. It was very stalker-ish of them, I must say.
I can really relate with that song. This year (school-year), I've really become in touch with myself and am much more enlightened. I have a much more enthusiastic outlook on life because I've finally learned that I'm not a less worthy person than everyone else and I can finally stand up for myself.
The song in question (it fell out of the quote box) was It?s My Life ? Bon Jovi I agree with this, too. As dorky as it sounds, I've been really proud of myself this past year (and the latter half of last year, actually), because [strike]I'm actually[/strike] Well, like you said, really. I'm trying to have a more enthusiastic outlook on life. I've made some great friends as a result. Revelation: High school doesn't have to suck. *laughs softly*
Another question in me One for the powers that be It?s got me thrown and so I put on my poker face And try to figure it out This undeniable doubt A common occurrence Feeling so out of place Guarded and cynical now Can?t help but wondering how My heart evolved into a Rock beating inside of me So I reel, such a stoic ordeal Where?s that feeling that I don?t feel? There was a boy who had the faith to move a mountain And like a child he would believe without a reason Without a trace he disappeared into the void and I?ve been searching for that missing person Under a lavender moon So many thoughts consume me Who dimmed that glowing light That once burned so bright in me Is this a radical phase A problematical age That keeps me running From all that I used to be Is there a way to return Is there a way to unlearn That carnal knowledge That?s chipping away at my soul I?ve been gone too long Will I ever find my way home? There was a boy who had the faith to move a mountain And like a child he would believe without a reason Without a trace he disappeared into the void and I?ve been searching for that missing person He used to want to try to walk the straight and narrow He had a fire and he could feel it in the marrow It?s been a long time and I haven?t seen him lately but I?ve been searching for that missing person
The first time I heard this song, listening to one of my CDs, I had to stop it in the middle and play it over. It just really struck me, and--like Des said--I could have sworn it was written about me.
  14. I think this thread has run its course. Shirahime_Yui-c, I'm sure that if anyone had any idea what you were talking about, they would be glad to answer. As it is, please be aware that coherency is required here. If you have any questions, PM myself or another staff member.
  15. I went through and deleted most of the posts that were nothing but a list of names. C'mon, guys--as always, let's try and have some form of intelligent conversation going here. A dozen names with no other comments or explanation doesn't cut it. -Sara
  16.
because the artist spent time and effort to make it appear correctly. When you reverse an image, perspective can be altered in weird ways, and expressions can be made to look different than they were originally intended. [/SIZE']
Thats a good point, actually. I know everything I draw looks screwy when it's backwards. I hadn't really thought about that before.
  17.
[insert post here]
Dear Mr. Henshaw! I remember that book! And I have to agree that The Neverending Story *stoicly resists urge to sing the title* is an awesome book. Atreyu! I adored Falkor as a kid. And yeah, it's Atticus Finch. You mentioned Bridge to Terebithia, and I suddenly remembered about a thousand more books and characters, heh. I don't remember what my first Paterson book was, but starting some time in fifth grade, I absolutely fell in love with her books. I loved Bridge to Terebithia. I can't remember the boy's name, but the girl was Leslie, right? Oh, wow, I loved that book. Then there's the girl from Jacob have I loved, and the title character of Lyddie. Heh... And of course I loved Maniac Magee. Maniac (did you say his name was Jeffrey, or was that a different character? I really can't remeber...) was great. I also really liked Stargirl from the book....wait for it....Stargirl (also by Spinelli.) And while I'm on the topic of eccentric females, there's Melinda from Speak, and Marisol from Hard Love. Melinda was really fantastic. I completely enjoyed her character. (Scarily enough, Speak is one of the few books I've actually lent out to people. And most of the friends I lent it to returned it with the comment that Melinda was exactly like me. *laughs softly* ) And Marisol was just really cool. I also liked the main character from Hard Love, but I can't remember his name at the moment. (the only reason I can remember Marisol's is because the book mentions that it means "bitter sun," and I'm a sucker for etymology.) Incidently, Hard Love is a much better book than the title implies. /
  18. Sometimes lyrics just seem to be meant for you. I think everyone feels like that at one moment or another... I've felt that way about a few songs over the past year or two, and it can be a very powerful feeling. This one, oddly enough, is from the Muppet Movie. Why are there so many songs about rainbows And what's on the other side? Rainbows are visions, but only illusions And rainbows have nothing to hide So we've been told and some choose to believe it I know they're wrong, wait and see Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection The lovers, the dreamers, and me Who said that every wish would be answered When wished on the morning star Somebody thought of that, and someone believed it And look what it's done so far What's so amazing that keeps us star gazing And what do we think we might see Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection The lovers, the dreamers, and me All of us under it's spell We know that it's probably magic... Have you been half asleep? And have you heard voices? I've heard them calling my name Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors The voice might be one and the same I've heard it to many times to ignore it It's something that I'm s'posed to be Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection The lovers, the dreamers, and me I never realized it when I watched the movie as a kid, but it's not really a happy song...it's actually rather haunting.
  19. I don't listen to a lot of music, really. I have almost no idea what/who most of the songs and singers mentioned in this forum are. And even with the names I recognize, I couldn't tell you a song if I heard it. I pretty much listen to one or two radio stations and whatever CDs are lying around the house. Usually, that means my mom's stuff, heh. That being said...for a long time, music was a huge part of my life. I spent several years involved with any band/singing/instrumental group I could join, and I loved it. It's incredibly hard for me to explain how much playing meant to me. It's just an awesome feeling.
  20. I don't read much manga, but I don't mind how it's set up. The right-to-left thing took me by surprise the first time I picked on up, but I thought it was really cool. I mean...A backwards book! Heh. I sometimes get a panel or two mixed up, but it's easy to rectify. I don't think that it really poses much of a problem. I mean, if nothing else, it gives dorky manga-obsessed kids a reason to think they're cool and elite and stuff. *laughs softly*
  21.

Sarah

Lose the h, and we'll be good. :toothy:
  22.
Littlest Pet Shop Pets (anyone remember these? I loved them!) - Auryn - Auryn is the newest name...
I had a bunch of Littlest Pet Shop stuff. Most of those were named after citites...or Presidents, I'm unsure. I had a Denver, a Madison, a Jefferson...those are the only ones I can remember. Heh. And Auryn, heh... Very nice. Do you know, I was almost done with the book before I realized that each chapter starte with a different letter of the alphabet? I always thought that was really cool. (The way they started, not that it took me forever to notice it.) I think Atreyu woudn't be a bad name, either. I'll have to look into that. I've been toying with the idea of naming a couple plants I have--some bamboo and a couple things grown from avocados. I was surprised when I realized I hadn't named them yet, but they haven't been doing so great lately, and I'm reluctant to name something that I fear is about to die. //
  23.
In my sig, when I use the list tag, it puts a dot in front of my image (on the lower left), you can see it below. I tested out the center tags and no tags at all and the dot goes away so i know it's the list tag which is creating this. Perhaps you can help me get rid of this or tell me what it is... thanks.
Isn't...isn't that what the list tag is supposed to do?
  24.
Ok, all you do is answer the question the person before you asked (w/ stupid answer) and then ask ur own stupid question. Q: Where am I?
A: ...in a closed thread. We're really working on encouraging discussion here. The chances of this leading to anything productive are...well, zero. Be sure to read our rules, and get a general idea of what's expected here in terms of post and thread quality. Thanks.
  25.
I don't know if this is only about kids (the title doesn't make it seem like that), but I have lots of pet names picked out. Artemis, Darwin, etc. They're all pretty dorky, but that's the way I like it.
So, so true. I've posted names before...recently, they've been coming from literary works...historical figures are nice, too. I think Machiavelli is one I'm mentioned a few times. There are a handful of pretty nifty names from Shakespeare, too. I used to collect little animal figurines...salt and pepper shakers, crayons, little toys, pieces of jewelry...pretty any animal-shaped object I could find for less that a dollar or two was purchased and brought home to my collection. They all had names. Every last one of 'em. A lot of them (in retrospect) sound like Beanie Baby names (Lucky the Ladybug, Pride the Lion...), but some I still really like. A few of the highlights:

Sir Francis Drake, the duck. (Get it? Drake?) I've still got him, he's one of my favorites. Named after the English pirate fellow.
Princess Marsha Mellow. This was a cat that...for some reason...always reminded me of marshmallows. Go figure.
Baron von Stuebon, the gargoyle. Another of my favorites, again, named after a historical figure.
Georg the Bear was named after the Sound of Music character. He's carved out of wood, very nifty.
Andy Griffin actually predates the rest of my collection by a year or two. Do I really need to explain the name? He's a little griffin, carved out of...I don't know, some kind of white translucent rock.
Pegosa was a turtle named for a line in a CW McCall song. "Crashed into the side of a feed store...down town Pegosa Springs."
Despite it's quaintness, Zeb the Zebra's name is actually short for Zebulon Pike, who I think had something to do with Utah...I'll have to look that one up again. I used to keep a paper journal faithfully, too...one of the volume's was named Zebulon as well. Same namesake. Edit: Yeah, explorer-dude. Pike's Peak, and whatnot.
