Robert Langdon (a Dan Brown creation) is another fun character; very relaxed, very intelligent, and incredibly funny in a really understated way. He's also a college professor (of symbology) and that's just darn spiffy.
*grins* I liked him. I also have to agree with Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird. *glances at Arcadia* I also like most of the male characters from Tamora Pierce's Tortall universe. Numair, Neal, Neal's cousin, Cleon, Raoul...the list goes on. Even Jon, in the earlier Alanna books. I really loved Numair, though. A great guy, sense of humor, very kind and fun, who just happens to be an obscenely powerful wizard, and sexy to boot? *laughs* [I swear, that's not me talking...] For some reason, most female characters annoy me. I'm still trying to figure that out. I do like Libby from Libby on Wednesday. I can't remember much else, but I liked her.
My Senior Prom theme was Titanic. For God's sake, did everthing in 98/99 have to do with that freaking movie?
Yes. Yes, it did, heh. I was in sixth grade, and won Drug Awareness poster contest with a Titanic-themed posted. Supposedly, they used my poster for a billboard, somewhere. (or so I've been told.) Aren't I the cool one? I never saw the movie, though, heh. I guess I'm a little foggy on the whole concept of Prom/Post-Prom/what-have-you. All our local high schools get together and have a gig at a place down by the lakefront...There are bleachers set up, and a lot of people come out to watch the seniors walk into the building. ... Right, anyway. I'm a senior this year, and not planning on going. I'm not really a...party/dance/stuff kind of person. Although I have to admit that Roaring Twenties is a pretty spiffy theme. You should get get someone to eat a goldfish.

I loved Sandy and Dennys, from Many Waters and the other books by Madeline L'Engle. I always thought they were cool, and I was postively ecstatic when I discovered that they had their own book. (Many Waters was cool for other reasons, too, mind.) Of the characters in The Dragonriders of Pern books by Anne McCaffrey, I had a couple I really liked. MasterHarper Robinton was at the top of the list.
When he died at the end of All the Weyrs of Pern, I was really upset, started crying and everything. A few months after that, though, I got my hands on The MasterHarper of Pern, and everything was happy again...at least until I went back and reread the series.
He's got a great sense of humor, and is this mentor figure that everyone respects. Not only that, but he was a Harper, and I love music. I think Harper would be an ideal profession for me--go around playing music, telling stories, acting, and keeping track of history? I mean, is it even possible to cram any more of my interests in there? I also really liked F'nor. He's F'lar's younger half-brother, and rider of a brown dragon...was it Canth? I always liked him better than F'lar, for some reason. I'm no longer sure why, I haven't read the books for years. Another one of my favorite characters is the Marquis de Carabas (or something to that effect), from Neverwhere, by Neil Gaiman. He's simply one of the coolest characters ever created. It's impossible to explain if you haven't read the book...and if you have read the book, I don't need to.

Writing How many forumers does it takes to change a lightning bulb?
Sara replied to Circ's topic in Creative Works
I really had to enjoy that. It was fun to read. I can only be thankful that we don't have all the problems listed there--although most are present in (thankfully!) lesser numbers. Last one made me laugh. I tell you, some threads never die. -
A signature is something--some text, a picture--that appears at the bottom of each post. For example, you can see TN's signature directly below his snide comment. : p Basically, it's just another way to establish an online identity. Lots of people put quotes in theirs; you can also make a small image and use it as a banner.

Edit: I thought about this today, and realized I simply don't have the time. As much as I'd love to go out for it, anything else added to what I have to do right now would probably kill me.
James, I was sick a few days before the change, and was unable to get out of my bed, I would have. and I'm not blaming anyone for it, I'm just saying it's a little hassle for me to find the saved file on my com. But I'll do it. *sigh* But, I still think that the way this was done is *blip*. It's so squishy, and nothing's going to change my mind.
If you're not coming back until "v8" (heh, that's a kind of juice...), why bother looking up your signature? Seems like a waste of effort.

We're not talking about OB, heh. This thread is about myOtaku. Thanks, wrist cutter. I hadn't thought of that. *hits self* The thing is, I know how to change the avatar...I just don't want one right now. Ah, well. I'll just make a new one that goes with van Gogh a bit better.

Is it possible to delete an avatar?
Is there (or could there be) a way to edit the color of certain un-editable sidebar text? (Date registered, Male/Female, etc.)
There were at least two other things I meant to ask, but they escape me at the moment.

There are so few projects that I've actually finished. I feel like a failure. Not in all aspects of my life, mind. Just the ones the ones that hold special personal importance to me. :p Most of my achievements are academic, but while they impress other people, I can't really feel proud of them. I listen, and I remember things--so school has always been easy for me. Most of my classes are just memorization. Ironically enough, I think the grade I ever had the most pride in was a C on my Trig final last year--I really struggled with it. It's kind of funny, because I have all sorts of "fantastic" academic achievements. I think I'm our school counselor's dream come true. But I really had to work hard to pull off a C on that test, and I was very satisfied when I did. I also got a 35 on my ACT, and I have to admit that when I found out, I was positively glowing for the rest of the day. The other area that I really feel great about is performing. I was in band for several years, and the feeling you get when you finally pull off a piece perfectly--there's really no way to describe it. Concerts always made me giddy. Practice every day...it's a lot of work, just for a few hours of performing, but wow. The amount of energy I would have after performance was just ridiculous, just because of how awesome it was to me. The other part of that would be acting. My school's drama group put on a play called Don't Tell Mother my junior year. Opening night was the best we had ever done it, and that feeling was just unbelievable. It was just so cool.

For some reason I thought this said "Methods to Get Banned"... heh. __________________ Heh, indeed. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that if you're that tired, you would be in bed...not on the computer asking for advice. You have been presented with a few options here which are...worth a try. My mom, in all her RN glory, always tells me to take Nyquil. But I think that's about as far as this thread is going to get. On a side note, double-check to be sure you've read our rules, and Welcome to OtakuBoards.

I remember watching it, but I couldn't tell you anything about it. I think my brother had a couple toys from McDonald's or something...I have to admit, they weren't very stunning...*laughs*

I believe people have been asked not to put things under the "Original Anime" category, unless the art is..well, original anime. That is, not an existing series. I'd imagine it makes it easier for people with like interests to find eachother, insted of wading through hundreds of Original Anime pages looking for a specific series.

Boba, you dork! I was going to do this first. *seethes* I'd still do it, but dang...it would be hard to top this. Heh...brilliant. I loved reading it. *laughs softly*

Writing Today's Poem [M -- As a Precaution]
Sara replied to Heaven's Cloud's topic in Creative Works
*laughs softly* That was very enjoyable, Dagger. And this is more a question, than a poem, but... A few years ago, a teacher of mine read us things, and one line I remember was, "Wonderful, wonderful, a thousand times wonderful." I've always really loved that, but I've lost what it was from. A rudimentary Google search didn't help me out, so I'm asking: Does anyone know what that's from? Is it part of a poem, or just a quote that stuck out? ...if it's not a poem, it should be. -
Originally posted by James Ooo, scar discussion! ^_^; Ahem.
James, you kind of freak me out sometimes. Mimmi--a basket? I have various scars on my hands and arms--perpetrators range from my fingernails, to scissors, to raspberry bushes, to my fourth grade teacher. / So I was two or three years old, and staying at my grandmother's farm for the while. My mom was in Louisiana with my little sister; they were visiting Nana--my other grandmother. Now, at my grandparents' farm, there were two dogs. Krissie was small and brown and black; Trapper was a wonderful big yellow dog. I loved them both, of course. Dogs are cool. Well, it so happened that I was playing outside with Trapper. I was a little kid, you see, and...playful. Or something. Well, Trapper was eating, and didn't want to play. I wanted to play. He ignored me. I persisted. He ignored me. I think that this point, I may have jumped on top of him... He did not ignore me. So....my grandparents had to take me to the emergency room to have my forehead sewed up. 14 stitches. And yes, I still have some of the scars. / Quite a thing to have to tell my mom while she was on the other side of the country, heh..

The one-wingedness is a bit odd, I guess. I tend to avoid drawing wings at the angle where the missing one should be. I guess...I know how it should look, so I just leave it alone, heh. And you're right, I can't even begin to tell you how much fun that was to color, heh. *grins* Thas for all the comments, Azure. I really appreciate your taking the time to post. This...well, this is just a picture I drew during art a year or two ago. It didn't turn out the way I wanted it to, but no one else seemed to notice. Then again, they aren't nearly as critical as the people here. :p The original is...bigger. With more white space, but my scanner cropped quite a bit of it off. ...it looks better with the extra space around it. Ergh. All in all, I really dislike this image, heh... But it came up when I was in the chat this afternoon, so I thought I might as well post it. Just pretend it looks the way it's supposed to, and we'll be square. clickify it

I love Foxtrot, heh. ^_^ My brother had a daily comic calendar last year, and I'd go into his room each day to read it. Every once in a while I had to steal (well trade...my Dilbert for his Foxtrot) a page. Those are tacked up on my bulletin board. (This year, I got the Foxtrot calendar. Heh.) Jason is the most-seen character, but he's also got a lot of variety, so it's not really that bad. It's almost sickening how much he reminds me of my brother, heh. (He's taking sophomore-level math classes as an eighth grader. Ergh.) I think a lot of it has to do with how the popular things right now--Lord of the Rings, for example--are nerdy things that really only Jason qualifies to obsess over. Or something to that effect. I love both Marcus and Eileen, heh. They play off Jason perfectly. I wish I had had friends like that in grade school. :p
Originally posted by Drix D'Zanth Like Charles, I abide the "don't clean my mess, you'll ruin the system", system.
What can I say. That's just a great quote. I'm organized in sort of a random way. I know where everything is...but only because I have a good memory. I try to keep like things together: all my letters are in a clementines crate, for example. My stickers are all in a sticker folder (but that's only because I need them together because I use them all the time.) I generally have a decently clean room. (Hopefully none of my family members read that.) It doesn't look great right now, but I do mean to clean it. When I have the time and inclination. ...Ha.

Oh, my friend lent me a copy of her Gunslinger Girl manga. I really enjoyed it for some reason (I didn't think I would, but eh.) Perfect choice for a picture. The colors are great--it stands out without being distracting. I think it would be more effective without having your name on there, but oh well. Maybe add more of a dark reddish tint to the edge of the border. I think that would make it look more complete.

All your banners look fanastic. You use colors very well. (Better than I do :p) The one in your signature, as well as Lost in Heaven are my favorites. The Angelic one looks unfinished for some reason. The lack of border by the wings, perhaps--it looks very good with the first, but not so much with that one. The text also seems out-of-place due to the color. The odd pixel additions in Trapped in Sorrow feel out-of-place as well. I'm not a fan of those sorts of things in general, but I think the white is just too bright for that image. However, I really have nothing but praise for both Lost in Heaven and your current Subaru one.

Writing Today's Poem [M -- As a Precaution]
Sara replied to Heaven's Cloud's topic in Creative Works
Something there is that doesn't love a wall, That sends the frozen-ground-swell under it, And spills the upper boulders in the sun, And makes gaps even two can pass abreast. The work of hunters is another thing: I have come after them and made repair Where they have left not one stone on a stone, But they would have the rabbit out of hiding, To please the yelping dogs. The gaps I mean, No one has seen them made or heard them made, But at spring mending-time we find them there. I let my neighbor know beyond the hill; And on a day we meet to walk the line And set the wall between us once again. We keep the wall between us as we go. To each the boulders that have fallen to each. And some are loaves and some so nearly balls We have to use a spell to make them balance: 'Stay where you are until our backs are turned!' We wear our fingers rough with handling them. Oh, just another kind of out-door game, One on a side. It comes to little more: There where it is we do not need the wall: He is all pine and I am apple orchard. My apple trees will never get across And eat the cones under his pines, I tell him. He only says, 'Good fences make good neighbors'. Spring is the mischief in me, and I wonder If I could put a notion in his head: 'Why do they make good neighbors? Isn't it Where there are cows? But here there are no cows. Before I built a wall I'd ask to know What I was walling in or walling out, And to whom I was like to give offence. Something there is that doesn't love a wall, That wants it down.' I could say 'Elves' to him, But it's not elves exactly, and I'd rather He said it for himself. I see him there Bringing a stone grasped firmly by the top In each hand, like an old-stone savage armed. He moves in darkness as it seems to me-- Not of woods only and the shade of trees. He will not go behind his father's saying, And he likes having thought of it so well He says again, "Good fences make good neighbors." ...Robert Frost. -
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel Personally, I have absolutely no interest in drugs on any level. I don't even have the desire to try it once. I'm messed up enough as it is when I'm sober. I don't need something altering that. In addition to that, I just do not like the idea of me not having control of my actions. It's the same reason why I don't drink... despite all the "do it in moderation" stuff people tell me.
I think anything I could say on the subject would just be repeating what Tony said here.

Writing What do you think of my fan fiction story?
Sara replied to Duofan11's topic in Creative Works
This forum is for sharing original stories and discussing existing ones. You have not made a remarkable effort toward either end. I'm going to close this. Please, give your threads a bit more substance in the future. A two-sentence concept and a vague promise of more later doesn't cut it. Thanks.
