I seem to remember James saying he had raised the limit to some insanely high number--I don't know, 20,000 or something--so people wouldn't have problems. Then again, perhaps I'm just delusional.

OB is always changing. You leave, you come back, you get used to it. Heh, welcome back. ^_~

I remember playing Risk one New Year's Eve with my family. Six solid hours of world domination, and we didn't finish until after waking up the next day. It's...a very long game. I always played for Russia, heh. Monopoly...I think I was Monopolied-out at a young age. We had the original, and later got Monopoly, Junior. It takes an incredible amount of persuasion/bribery to get me to sit down and play this game any more. Although I have had some fun time with it, heh. I liked Candyland as a kid, but Chutes and Ladders was very frustrating for me. Except for that time I won, that was cool. I never really got into Life. Something about it bugged me the first time I played, and I honestly don't know if I've tried it since then. Clue was fun, though...I never even knew there was a board game until after I had gone through every one of those books. Heh...bad jokes, ergh. My favorite game is probably HuggerMugger. If you know what it is, you get a smiley sticker. Heh.
Originally posted by Circéus Scrabble team
Dude! You have a Scrabble team? You are officially on my list of spiffy people. (Actually, you were already on there...but now you are on there twice. Heh.) Anyhoo....Ah, yes. Nicknames. Sare-Bear: Classic nickname. My dad used to call me this....it might have had some connection with Care Bears, and it might not have. It rhymes, anyway. Sadie: Apparently this is a nickname for "Sara," although I didn't know it. It was mentioned in our script at one point last year, and one of the drama people took to calling me that for a while. Anna Frank: In sixth grade, we read Anne Frank's diary and saw the stage production. Someone got it into their head that I looked like the photograph of Anne on the cover of the book, and for a few weeks everyone called me Anne Frank. One boy never stopped, heh. Martin Luther: A girl in my seventh grade class called me this, before simply calling me Martin Martin all the time. And yes, it was after the Protestant reformer... Cera: This one's easy. It was my screename here for about a year, and some people still "call" me by that spelling. Ricochet: One of my friends was designating people with "R" nicknames. I was dubbed Richochet. Cera/Sara/Girl: Shy gave up following all my screenname changes and came up with this all-purpose address. Lady Canthea: From Ben, short for "Lady Can't hear a thing," because it can take me so long to notice when he's sent me somethig by IM. Sister of the Koosh Ball: Dubbed so by Miss Asphy. SaraMunkie and Sarabel: Both, strangely enough, related both to PiroMunkie and Carr. I went around one day, affixing "-Munkie" to the end of everyone's name. (Then I tried calling Piro, "PiroMunkie," and realized that it really didn't have much effect.) Carr returned the favor, sometimes calling me SaraMunkie. I still call her CarrieMunkie, heh. And Piro did a "remix" of Edgar Allen Poe's Annabel Lee, putting "Sarabel" in for "Annabel," and adding some internet/OB references. I like the poem so much I had it up in my locker last year, and Carr took to calling me Sarabel for a while. Sabrina: This is amusing. One day at lunch last year, my friend Phil slammed the table with his hand and looked at me. "I finally figured out who you remind me of!" he exclaimed. "It's that girl from Pokemon!" I stared at him. The only girl from Pokemon I could think of was Misty, and I didn't really care for that comparison. "What?" "You know. That girl! With the dolls. She's crazy and evil and controls people." He hit the table again for emphasis. "Psycho. " "...Sabrina?" "Yes! Sabrina!" He looked at me suspiciously. "I'm going to call you that from now on. Sabrina.." ....and that is all for the present.

*comments, as per request* It seems tacky to say it, but I really appreciate your spelling and punctuation, heh. That's not what you're looking for, but I thought I'd point it out. Hey, people--Look! You're allowed to spell things correctly and still call it poetry! Yay for Leh. There's not much to say about love poems, heh. I'm not particularly in love at the moment, so nothing strikes me as particularly close to home or anything. I do like the phrase "I feel intense." Intense is a good word. It's, well, intense. It conveys what it means, succinctly and powerfully, without a lot of dancing around the point. (Like I'm doing now. : / )

....I've burned coffee. Honest. My dad used to work nights, so every afternoon/evening, my sister and I would make his "lunch" and get his coffee ready. We had one of those percolator coffee pots--not anything automatic, but you put the filter in the top, then the coffee schtuff, then poured water over the whole thing thing and let it sit on the stove until it "perked." One evening, Dad was in a rather frustrated mood, and my sister and I were a little out-of-sorts. We forgot to pour the water in the coffee pot, and just put the flame on. ...It didn't turn out very well. The most amusing thing that I've done probably involved those little rolls that come in a cardboard can. You know, you "pop" the canister open by twisting it, and the rolls all seperate, and you put them in the oven for twelve minutes or whatever. I put them in the oven, and promptly forgot about them. ...Now, they didn't burn, exactly (never caught flames), but they did turn into lumps of carbon reminiscent of dinosaur eggs... Oh, and yes: our clothes dryer caught fire last Christmas. I maintain that it was not my fault, but you never know.

Why do people ask these questions on OtakuBoards? Why? Of all the places they could ask them, why do they ask them here? Not Ask Jeeves, not Staight Dope,, just here...

Hi, welcome to OB. Since you are new here, you obviously aren't aware of our policy on "Hi, I'm new!" threads. They don't lead to much discussion, so we generally just close them. You can get a good feel for our site by reading the rules in the OtakuBoards Information Center. If you have any futher questions, please feel free to contact Semjaza Azazel, who will be happy to help you out. :)
Originally posted by FirePheonix727 I probably won't convince any of you that any of this is indeed true....however...tell me what your theory is. Then I can tell you why it's wrong. ...I would strongly suggest that no-one post on this thread that is just going to criticise my theory. If you do, I'll report you to a mod. Any questions?
Arrogance, what? OtakuBoards encourages discussion. And while I'm sure debates on the nature of the universe might prove interesting, this is not the thread in which they will do so. You are insisting that people offer their views on a subject, forbidding them from disagreeing with your own views, and promising to criticize theirs. This is not an example of a "good" thread. ...If anyone is particularly interested in learning more about FirePhoenix's enlightened state of being, feel free to PM him.

Treat Heart looked around with dismay. He had been walking around for hours, without any trace of any of his friends. He was starting to lose heart. There was a scuffling noise some ways ahead of him. "Loyal Heart?" he called out uncertainly. "Is that you?" There was no reply, but Treat Heart thought he heard another soft noise. "Well, then," the pig said to himself, "We'll just have to go and see." He climbed along the rocks, stopping every few moments to listen....and rest his feet. He really wasn't made for scruffing along in the desert...the lush Forest of Feelings was much more his style, and he sighed. "I wonder how Proud Heart is doing in Care-a-Lot," he wondered softly. "Is anyone there?" he called out again. There was still no sign of his mysterious quarry, and he was beginning to lose hope. He sat down on the ground, feeling dejected. None of his friends were around...he couldn't find them--maybe they weren't even here. Maybe the Rainbow Rescue Beam had sent him to the wrong place, all alone. He would never see his friends again..he would never get back to the Forest of Feelings... A large grey dog padded over to him. Treat Heart didn't notice..his head was drooped, resting on his chest. The dog nudged Treat Heart with his nose, but the pig made no move to respond. His usually-cheerful eyes were dull, and didn't seem to see anything. Everything around him seemed grey, and cheerless, and lonely.... Mellan Collie sighed sadly. Another one... He tried nudging Treat Heart again, but nothing good happened. Unaware of his surroundings, situation, or new companion, Treat Heart Pig started to cry.
Originally posted by FirePheonix727 I would have to say my favorite is Darkness. Oh yes, darkness wins the bet. I mean, you can't destroy it, you can't control it , well, you could put on a light, but that's just substituting the shadow with something else.
*laughs* Darkness is simply the absence of light. Shining a flashlight in a dark room isn't subtituting darkness from something else...it's eliminating darkness wherever it shines, heh. And yes, Potassium is very cool. I have an email (somewhere) as KaliumH20. [Kalium (Potassium) + H20 (Water) =Explosion (boom!)] Heh. My, the things I came up with during Chemistry class...

....Oh...my....goodness. I used to love those books, heh. The only one I owned was (I think) Mister Messy, but wow...I used to check them out from the library, and...yeah. Heheh. *gives you a smiley sticker for nostalgia* Full marks for content, Baron-me-Josh.

When I saw the thread title, I thought you meant oldies oldies, heh. I honestly know next to nothing about music, old or new. I listen to some of my mom's CDs sometimes, but I don't necessarily know what they'd be classified as, heh.
Originally posted by Heaven's Cloud I guess that my favorite war movie would probably be Glory. It is such an outstanding movie. It was shot well, the acting is incredible, and the story was a beautiful account of a true portion of American history.
I did a book report on the book version of that...and later that year, we watched the movie during history class. I really appreciated it. I suppose my favorite war movie would be The Sound of Music. Which might be an odd choice, but still. I do love it.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel I really want to see this, but it's reportedly almost three and a half hours long. I don't know if I can sit still for that long.
...never mind the folks who want to watch all three at a stretch... I'm looking forward to it, in a mild sort of way. I absolutely adored the books when I was younger (haven't had time to read them all through since sixth grade...), but I'm rather distressed that so many other people are suddenly excited about Tolkien. Call it professional detachment, self-control, or bitterness, but I'm not nearly as excited about the movies as most people I know. I enjoy them, though. I thought the Scouring of the Shire was an excellent ending for the trilogy. It showed how close to home the "evil" had gone, and it was heartaching that the poor hobbits had work more to do, when they thought they had been so close to home and rest. I always thought it added a good element to the story.. Beh.

Ah...I tend to make judgements on individuals, not genders....and when I do, I'm joking. I really haven't noticed anything of the sort...not since third grade, or so.

I've always been partial to Potassium, myself. Did you know that in the past, it was called Kalium? Thus, its symbol... K. In any case, I suppose the "element" I associate myself with (if that's the right term) would be water. There's just something about it. Liquid, blue, and deep...or clear, and running. It can be warm, cool, soft, gentle, powerful, destructive, or healing. It's very versatile, and I find that to be fascinating. You can look out across a lake every day for a month, and never see the same colors twice. There was a thread about mythical animals some time back, and all the ones I was particularly interested in were associated with water. I found that interesting. Ryo Sakura and Metreon, please clean up your post quality. :)

I've done that a couple times, heh. Easy enough to fix, but yeah...frustrating. I've deleted people from my buddy list, too, when I meant to check their site. :whoops:

Secret Bear raced off in the direction of the sound, and Bubbly nd Funshine ran after him. "Secret Bear, wait!" Grumpy cried, in one last desperate attempt to maintain control of the situation. It was too late. "Silly Bears," he muttered to himself, traipsing behind. "We don't know what's over there..." The four Bears hurried through the landscape. What had once been harsh desert was now a thick forest...and strangely, the colors around them seemed to be fading. "Oh, I don't like this," Bubbly Bear said worriedly. Looking around, he was alarmed to see how the jungle around them was becoming less and less distinct. The colors--what there were--seemed to run together, leaving everything a mottled green-grey-brown. The Bears stood out as four splotches of brightness. Wait--make that five splotches of brightness. "Love-a-Lot!" Funshine cried happily. The pink bear turned toward them, troubled. Her face lit up upon seeing her friends, however, and she exclaimed cheerfully. "Funshine! Secret Bear--Bubbly! I thought I was the only one here..." "We all landed together," Bubbly explained. "We think the Rainbow Rescue Beam messed up and sent us to different places." "Well, I haven't seen anyone else.." Secret Bear put his hands to his ears, doing his best to look like a dog. "We thought we heard Loyal Heart," Funshine said quickly. "Have you heard anything?" "No. But, I'll help you look." "Alright!" Bubbly exclaimed. Secret Bear jumped up and down with enthusiasm. Grumpy finally reached the others. "Well, I hope you Bears are happy--" he began. "Come on, Grumpy!" Funshine cried. "We're off to find the others!" The four other Bears ran off. Grumpy stood for a moment, glowering at the sky. "I hope you're enjoying this, Good Luck Bear," he said darkly. "Because I'm not."
