"Beavers" If a tree falls in the forest when there's nobody around But the carpenter who felled it, do you s'pose it makes a sound? And just how are its travel needs fulfilled in such a place? How is our tree transported to its new resting place? Does our aspiring builder use blueprints for his floor? Are the sticks and mud he's got anough, or will he need some more? How is his lovely lakeside view? How did he lay his plans? Well, I don't know. Frankly, my dear, I don't give a dam. See what Calc does to your sense of humor? Just say NO, kiddies! Math is bad for your mind!

I'm in Wisconsin, and most people I know haven't/aren't planning to take the SAT I. My school has sophomores take the PSAT/NMSQT in October; juniors take the "Pre-ACT," I guess. Whether or not you take the ACT or SAT is up to you, and people usually take it late Junior year/early Senior year. I'm supposed to take the SAT in October. I'll probably be the only one in my graduating class to do so; I can't think of any colleges in the area who require it. So I guess I don't see why it would be a problem to add another stipulation to the scholarship, although I'm not familiar with the test in question. It doesn't seem like it should be a very big deal. Personally, I think scholarships should be based on merit. / Perhaps I'm just out of the loop.

..... 1337 is a computer thing where certain letters are replaced with symbols or numbers; other words are intentionally misspelled. For example, the word "elite" becomes "leet." From there, the e's are replaced by the number 3. Thus, l33t. The l becomes the number 1, because they look similar. An uppercase T replaces the lowercase t: 133T. The number 7 replaces the uppercase T. Thus, "1337." J is not a number; you are correct. The 1337 word for "you" replaces the y with a j: "jou." That looks French, so it obviously has to be changed. Phonetically, "you" might be spelled yoo. We've already gotten rid of the y, so we now have a j followed by the double o: the word "joo." Once again, certain letters are replaced with numbers; in this case it is the obvious change of the letter o to the number zero. Thus, "you" becomes "j00." When/if you would say this out loud, you wouldn't say "j-zero-zero." Zero doesn't have a sound, so you don't pronounce it. You simply say it as though the characters were not numbers (00) but the letters they are replacing (oo). However, they still pronouce the j as a j, in order to proclaim to the word that while it may seem like they are speaking normally, they are, in fact, not. Thus, "you" is pronounced as "joo," with a hard j. Another example would be 5p34|
Originally posted by Xaru Silverfire Tihat dioesn't wiork tioo wiell. Crazy things I've said? I have absolutly no accent. Or I have an American accent. But anyway. Whenever I speak I tend to replace any word that begins with a "Y" with a "J". Like "Jes?" or ...."Jou" or "Jour." I guess it is an inheritige of German-ness. ~Xaru
Actually, it would be "Thlat dloesn't wlork tloo wlell." (Well, if you use the letter blends as on letter...) And why would saying "You" as "Joo" have anything to do with German? The German language pronounces j's as y's, not the other way around. It seems more like you're trying to speak in 1337, heh. That's another thing a couple of my friends and I end up doing sometimes. It's interesting to listen to people talk, pronouncing 1337 words the way they're spelled...well, sorta spelled.... Like "Joo" or "roxxors." The numbers aren't exactly pronounced, heh.

Carr- Wouldn't that be funny, though? (Where did you go, anyway? If I have to do this, I would rather be amused than completely miserable.) Hmm....If I were to fly out to Southern California, do you think Miss Jenna would take pictures of me? That would be so fun(ny).

I love the third one...It's just awesome. It's got this feel to it, or something. It would make an awesome valentine card, heh. Seriously, though, I love it. I need to find a way to incorporate that into my desktop.

I'm supposed to have senior pictures taken...well, some time soon-ish. I don't know, I'd rather not have to deal with it. The alternative, of course, is a school photographer taking a three-second shot in our school's old coatroom. Decisions, decisions....

DiscoSnorlax- Heh, that's great. I don't really look like any of the characters, though. Maybe S1 Mimi, but yeah. Still, I think it would be fun. I love dressing up and stuff, heh. S1 digimon....straight up eighth grade, right there.

Yay for you. Unfortunately, the warning and banning of members is not based on their IQ, but their post quality. I suggest you clean yours up.

Please clean up your post quality a little bit. Using "u" and "ur" in place of "you and "your" isn't really accepted here. Mitch, you don't need to be rude. Edit: *blinks at Tony* What the.... Don't mind me, just going nuts.

How much television does her one-year-old son watch? I think it's sort of a bizarre crusade....although Between the Lions is an awesome show. Everyone should watch it.

Almost everyone in my physics class has games on their calculators; it's kind of funny. My teacher grabbed someone's 83 the other afternoon, and just tried to play for a little while. *tilts head* I actually don't have anything on mine. I do more with pen(cil) and paper than I do with my calculator, so whatever. Lately I've been writing riddles...great fun. ^_~

'Cause I guess I'm in Spanish class, right? I'm in German. What little Spanish I know is either from Sesame Street, Noche del Gatito or my friend Dave. And while it's thoroughly amusing, it means my vocabulary pretty much consists of phrases that come out to "crazy like a monkey without pants" and "the wife knows too much, I may have to kill her. But first, a donut." Or you could take my wonderful grasp of French, which is pretty much: Sortie=exit. Yay for getting lost in the Louvre. (Hint: Follow the exit signs. They'll get you far.) I have a lot of sayings that I just pick up from places. "No, I am not __________, and neither should you be!" is one of my favorites right now. Or this quote from A modest destiny (a webcomic): "You broke my shiny thing! It was so shiny.....yet you broke it! Do you hate me?!" And finally, this gem I picked up from a fellow American tourist while I was at the Eiffel Tower: "What les HELL is going on!?" Priceless. ^_~

Perhaps it's because of your spelling? Only kidding, CarrieMunkie. It's funny, because I write a lot of letters. (Most of them recently have been to the same person, but yes.) Some things require replies, but many don't. If you send a card in the mail, for example, people usually don't feel obligated to reply. If you send a really long letter, they feel like they need to reply, but it's too much of a chore--there's so much to go through, and are they supposed to write one just as long? Is shorter okay? What about-- It becomes a chore, and no one likes extra chores. / If someone just recently stopped writing you, you could probably send them a card or short letter along the lines of, "hey, haven't heard from you in a while. Drop me a line sometime." That usually at least prompts acknowledgement of your existance, if only an apology for the lack of other replies.

Solo, ya have anyone in mind for the mysterious figure? If not, don't leave it open-ended like that, heh. I have a tendency to write myself into others' storylines. And just a reminder to everyone...the idea of an RPG is interaction. Not seven seperate storylines. Ben's entitled, he's the mysterious evil emperor person. I'll edit this with my introduction after Solo answers. ^_~ ----- Tally looked uncertainly at the boy in front of her. "I don't know," she said softly. "Go on!" the creature beside her urged. "But--" the girl protested. "Tally, just do it! I know you can," her companion said. Tally took a deep breath. "Hello," she said softly. "He can't hear you. Be louder." "Hello," Tally tried again. Then, finally, "Hello!" The boy turned around, not quite startled, but definitely surprised. "Who are you?" he asked. Then, "Did you see that?!" His arms gestured at the meteor...or where it had come from. "I'm Tally," the girl said. "I...yeah. It was strange." "I'm Aidan," the boy said kindly. "What...ah...who is that?" he asked, looking at the smaller figure beside her. "Oh! That's--that is, she--her name, I mean, she is--" Tally stopped, obviously flustered. "Hernameisamicamon," she said quickly. "I'm a digimon," Amicamon supplied. She looked like a small bear...or perhaps some kind of monkey....with a headdress and makeshift wings composed of large, briht feathers. Aidan looked faintly bewildered, but the bemusement passed quickly as his mind registered that he was--must be--dreaming. "Heh, hello to you both," he said. Tally turned slightly pink. "Hello," she said a fourth time. A look of concern passed across the boy's face. "Is something wrong?" Amica grinned. "Nah, Tally's just shy. And she's been lonely, too. You're the first person we've seen." Tally made a strangled noise. "I'm fine!" she exclaimed, a little too loudly. "I'm just...shy." "It's okay to be shy," Aidan smiled, "but you don't need to worry about me. I'm Aidan Phoenix." He paused. "But, what do you mean I'm the first person you've seen?" "Since...since we got here," Tally said. "We've just seen other Digimon. Like her, sort of," she added, tilting her head toward Amica. "Only not as nice." "Got...here?" Aidan repeated, and for the first time since he had first seen the meteorite, took note of his surroundings. He was not in the same place where he had been relaxing this afternoon. "Where are we?" Amicamon laughed. "We're in the Digital world, of course!" "Oh," Aidan said. "Of course." He gazed at the surrounding landscape. It looked normal, but at the same time seemed unreal. The grasses were too neat, maybe, or the sky too finite. It was hard to place, but there was something strange here. "We've been here for a couple days," Amica went on. "I think it's really exciting and everything, but I think Tally's a little scared." "'Mica!" the girl protested, paling slightly. Aidan looked at Tally for the first time. She was slim, with short lavender hair, and dark eyes. She wore an oversized green shirt over blue jeans and tennies. Hanging from her belt was a device much like the one he had so recently acquired. He glanced at her face, and was faintly amused to see she had begun blushing again in the short time he had been looking at her. She really was shy. / "Hey, where did you get that thing?" he asked. Tally glanced down at her digivice. "Oh, this? I dunno." Amicamon had stopped her cheerful motion and now stood still, looking at a point slightly beyond the two children. (Children? Can I call them that?) "Tally," she said softly, tugging on her shirt. "We have a problem." Aidan looked up to see a large animal figure coming toward them. "What's that?" he asked uncertainly. Tally turned to glance at the approaching boar digimon, and swallowed hard. "Not good," she said. "Run." "What?" "Run!" Gah, I can't write. / Oh, well. it's good enough for a 2-am piece. Hope you're okay with how I did Aidan, Solo.

You could talk to your English teacher. Schools sometimes have "brother schools" in another area, and there may be a pen pal option available. Even if that's not the case, one of your teachers may have more information on the subject for you. On a slightly different note, how many people here have pen pals they write regularly?

How would the member list thing be annoying? Unless I completely missed what he was mean by it... "Member List" brings to mind a...well, a list of members. Like here, you can click on members and sort the page by number of posts, date joined, first letter of their name. Am I totally off on that, or does it make sense to anyone else? As for the bolding thing, I like it.

I'll admit I'm sometimes jealous of Miss Tori. Not in a spiteful way, because she's awesome and I love her, but simply because she is awesome, heh. She's likeable and kind, and has wonderful relationships with wonderful people. She seems to be my opposite in a lot of ways, and I doubt we would have ever talked to each other if we had gone to the same school: she's pretty and sunny and dancer-like; I'm quiet and darker and...not dancer-like, heh. I admit I don't know her that well, but yes. She's a very easy person to like, and that's a great thing.

I got to know some pretty awesome people. I haven't any idea where they are now, but I'm glad I got to know them. *tilts head* I think a lot of people are unaware of the possible dangers of internet, while others have placed far too much focus on them. Every person you meet is not a psycho stalker, nor is everyone who he says he is. Everything can be seen as a problem, from chats, to driving, to violence on tv shows. The solution doesn't lie in getting rid of the item in question so much as it does in people's dealing with it responsibly.
