I also recommend that you find the quacks that were treating your friend and beat their faces in! I would murder the docs if that had been my friend but I advise against you doing that since I don't want a fellow otakuboard member going to prison...
Okay, wow. You're scary. I can't say I know how you feel, since no one close to me has died. Nor anyone I care about. (Not everyone close to me is someone I care for.) I could imagine, but I'd rather not. Let's just simplify and say you must feel really bad. Okay, cool. Well, I'd say it's one of three things: poisoning (intentional, from someone else) food poisoning or accidental poisoning, or the doctors gave him the wrong bottle of medication, if you know what I mean. But I'm sure you've already narrowed that down, yes? So here's my advice: doctors and police, despite seeming like it, are NOT your friends. They just want a paycheck. If you don't keep pushing them to investigate, they won't. So just keep on them. Or nothing will ever get done. Sorry to say it, but there are a lot of crooked people in this world. Hope I helped at least a little.

Emigrate - Blood I'm a huge Rammstein fan, so of course I had to check out Emigrate when I heard about 'em. And like anything I'd expect from Richard Kruspe, it's awesome. I have to admit, the English lyrics disappointed me at first, but when I thought about it, you don't want a Rammstein clone with a different singer. Blood is without a doubt my favourite song thus far. And I just realised I've posted here twice today. Once I get started on a music-related thread... EDIT: Also Five Finger Death Punch is awesome. The Black Dahlia Murder, also. I knew you had SOME good music taste. I mean, no one can be allll bad...

Dir en grey - Embryo Don't ask me if this is the actual song title. I'm assuming so, but I don't mind if it isn't because I love the song and I'm too lazy to go find out. I'm a HUUUUUUGE Dir en grey fan. HUUUUUUGE. Yuss. And I haven't listened to them in quite a while so I'm enjoying it.

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama This song never gets old for me. I've never lived in Alabama, but I have lived in a white trash town in California, where someone played this song at least once a day. (Also, "white trash" is an affectionate term there. So I'm not being mean. :D ) Anyway, I've also been listening to HIM again. I really got sick of their stuff, despite them being one of my favourite bands. But the older stuff shall always be the best, IMHO.

Well, let's see. The only friend I have that I give nicknames to is Megan, and I call her: Egman - Because I spelt her name wrong and it made me laugh. Eggy/Eggo - The 'eg' part of her name. Shabamba Giroodle - She's tall like a giraffe, and her hair gets poofy like a poodle, so giraffe + poodle = giroodle. No idea about the Shabamba part. Later she dyed her hair a bright colour, so then she was an Exotic Shabamba Giroodle. Meggly, Meggerz, etc. And yes, she does get angry at me for this. Names that have been given to me: Well, I had a History teacher that called me Spain. Because my name's Shain, and... yeah. One of my friend's little sisters called me Treehead for a while. I have no idea why. Little kids are weird. Oh, I also have a friend named Nina, who I call Neener. But I don't think I'm the only one that calls her that.

Eighteen by Alice Cooper This is such a trippy song. And if you've ever seen the video, you know he's completely, totally ****** up to the point of not being able to stand while singing. Oops I said ****. ****, not again. Okay, sorry. That was totally uncalled for.

I'll Keep You My Dirty Little SECRET....
[Sound_Nin] replied to pooperson's topic in General Discussion
What's the point in connecting with someone's secret if it's fake?
I see what you mean, but I still see how you could connect with it, even if you were 100% certain it was fake. It's just the thought behind it, but yeah... Quite a few are fake, I imagine. -

I'll Keep You My Dirty Little SECRET....
[Sound_Nin] replied to pooperson's topic in General Discussion
I still prefer forum-based confessions threads. Doesn't look like there are any here at the moment, but on other forums they're actually quite popular. Typically though they meet their demise when someone fakes a confession that another user misinterprets or is offended by, and the topic often is locked after a bit of flaming.
That's what I thought this thread was about, actually. At first glance. -

I have heard of it, I just didn't know it had a name. NOW I understand why this thread is named after that song. I can't stand that song! I hate it! But the video is nice. I guess they just make me laugh. Which is mean, because these are peoples' secrets... but they're funny. ._. Would I consider it? Well, maybe. I can't think of any good enough secrets though. -

Yes, no hair! I got really annoyed with it. I'm just not cut out for having long (well not LONG, but the longest I've ever had it) hair hanging in my eyes. It thoroughly pissed me off, so how did I retaliate? Buzzed it all off. Not even I would take a razor to it. I'm not one for the shiny-headed style. I think I could pull off any hairstyle, really. Smoking Should Only be in 'R' Rated Films?
[Sound_Nin] replied to Aberinkula's topic in General Discussion
I think it's insane. Once you get started with censorship, it never ends. An anti-smoking group, eh? What kind of people have nothing better to do than hate cigarettes and rant about it? And you know that if it was up to them, cigarettes would be outlawed altogether. Do these people have a shared religious affiliation? (Don't get offended, religious folks. Just a question. :] ) Yes, cigarettes kill you. But how much CRIME is influenced by cigarettes? I certainly can't see how it could even compare to drinking, but that's a different topic. And I'm done with my rant! Thanks for tolerating it. Now where'd those cigarettes go... -
If I were to join any branch of the military, it would be the Air Force. Why? It suits my personality. I can't really explain why, but eh. I do believe it's necessary, but I would most certainly NOT join now if I were able to, because I would be fighting for something I strongly do not support in any way. That's just my opinion. I have an almost unhealthy preoccupation with weapons, and no, I would not hesitate in killing someone. Does it make me a bad person for that? I dunno. If it came down to that, I wouldn't flinch. But I most certainly wouldn't kill someone just for the hell of it. Drifting off-topic here. The Marines would just be too much for me. I don't think I'd have what it takes, but I don't view that as a bad thing. There's a history of military in my family. I can say I have ancestors on both sides of WWII. I had two great-uncles, one in the US Marines and one in the US Navy, and on the other side, a grandfather in the SS. I believe his brother was in the SA, as well. And my grandfather was in the US Navy during Korea. But is it my thing? I can't really say at this point. Don't have a strong enough opinion on it as of yet. We'll see, though.

Publicity - Your thoughts about it.
[Sound_Nin] replied to Elf_Of_Light's topic in General Discussion
It could be argued that media attention was a driving force of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s.
This is a good example to start from. Yes, the media gave quite a bit of attention to the "Civil Rights movement". That much is certain, can be presented in fact. However, when the media gets into things, it causes a certain problem. It emphasises certain things and belittles others, sometimes giving certain events no coverage and in fact even creating facts. So unless you were there, there isn't much you can possibly know for certain. Yes, there is always some truth. This could get into History as a whole, and the fact that history is written by the victor. And as such, news is reported in a flattering or unflattering light, according to the majorly accepted thought. If someone or something is considered "bad" to the government of said country, or the majority of such a nation, it is stigmatized to no end, and facts are made up to support this. The same can be said of things considered "good". So how could we know if something ever even happened? Eyewitnesses only get you so far, in terms of forced confession and motives (by which I mean the "witness" has something to gain). Written proof is the best bet, but not even that is certain. Physical proof in general. But when you start thinking this way, it never ends. There is very rarely a way to find truth, when you get down to basics. That is, if you weren't there and saw things for yourself. Excuse me if this comes out completely paranoid, I hope you can at least see my point. ;) I could even go so far as to say that the media is basically spoonfeeding our entire generation, and generations before and after us, what "they" want us to think. This may sound crazy, but if you've ever said something was wrong, and then stopped to wonder: "why do I think it's wrong?" then you know what I mean. Basically, no one's questioning these things. It really makes you think. So to wrap this up, my opinion is this: publicity itself is neither good nor bad. It is simply the people who report it, who are biased with their own beliefs, that can make it into something bad. Actually, this conversation could cover the media in general, and even history itself. EDIT: Okay, so this is dealing with marketing. I can't bring myself to get rid of the long monologue I went into above, so I'll just keep going in a different direction! Yay! (...my fingers are tired...) My opinion on publicity related to marketing is as follows: As long as there's no exaggeration, no outright lies about the product, like saying "if you take this vitamin supplement or such and such you will live forever" (obviously I don't mean quite as blatant as that, but you get the idea) then there is very little problem with publicity. In fact, in this instance, publicity is completely instrumental to the company or individual selling the product, and without it, it would be less well-known and will bring in MUCH less profit. Yesss. If someone wants me to delete that long-winded conspiracy theory up there, feel free to tell me and I'll delete it. :] -

I can see where one of the two Care points came from. The last question. I answered it with "whether anyone" actually gets hurt, but I tend to think it's pretty subjective on what your moral principles are, if they even exist. :p But yeah, good quiz. Didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, but at least it works, somewhat. -
