the face of metal(and music in general for that matter) today
Jesus Chicken replied to treton_noir's topic in Noosphere
Yeah, while were talking about bands that not many people have heard of. Has anyone else heard of the Doug Anthony All Stars? They are a group of comedians, from here, Aus. They are so god damn funny, hehehe. Anyway, they have broken up now, but still they are so funny. Anyone heard of them? -
Ok, I'm going to be slightly honest, and give a serious answer now. I don't belive in destiny, nor do I believe in God, well not a God that has been defined by any religion I am familiar with. I belive in a higher power, something both good and evil, and nuetral, all at the same time. There is always good and bad happenning and there is always something that is in the middle. We make our lives through our decisions. I'll use war as an example. If we didn't have war, many things would be changed, there would be fewer developments in the field of weaponary, becuase we wouldn't need it. The fact that we didn't have war then sets off other things, that may or may not happen. We don't know. I know some people that believe they were destined for each other. Once again, I disagree, everyone is unique, but only to a degree. They could have found someone else, just like the person they are in love with now, and fallen in love with them. But through the choices, they have made, they have met that particular person. Destiny, no, sorry. It's all down to us.

You are quite lucky the Harlequin isn't here. His favourite band is the Tea Party, and if he were here he wouldn't shuttup about how good they are. Yeah, I don't mind them. They have a strange variation of styles that they play. I can't stand Tangets, I think that's the name of the album, but it's too, gypsy (Spelling?) for me. -

This is not Hell Another Day Sitting with the dog They are all brilliant songs, so check them out. Doesn anyone else know a band that not many people have heard of and are really good? -
Help w/relationship.(long story)
Jesus Chicken replied to GhostofSalvtore's topic in General Discussion
Hehehe, Hey man, I know exactly how you feel. I'm in a situation, that's quite simliar, but a bit stranger. Very long story anway. Yeah, I say you just go along with it. To be in a relationship is to get screwed around, especially at our age. Don't worry about it, be please that you actually got the girl in the first place... -
The Land of Azeroth is in peril. The Orcs and Humans are still battling on, pointlessly. Both sides are unaware that a greater evil, something far worse than an old fuede, is beginning to threaten their lands. The Dark Legion is coming to the lands and it has only one goal. To Destroy life itself, and turn the land into a barren wasteland, a haven of destruction and death. Both sides have been warned by a misterious prophet of the forcoming doom. They have been told the only way to stop this force is to travel to the ancient lands of Kalimdor. and side with the Night Elves, and there make a final stand. Both sides have disregarded these warnings and both sides think the prophet is a fool, that is until fire rains from the sky. The very land explodes around them and the undead are born of the earth. Foul deamons, giant cleaver-weilding beasts and giant spires of the undead erupt from the soil. The very land around them is poisened by these events and most of the Orcs and Humans are enveloped into the Legion, many being possesed, some killed and then raised again, to serve the Undead Legion, but none who did not heed the first warning of the prophet are left alive. The Undead Invasion has begun... This RPG is based on the Warcraft 3 game, so if you have any prior knowledge, your presansce in this RPG would be welcomed. It doesn't matter if you don't know about any of it so feel free to join regardless. If you want to join and have no knowledge, or want to find out more anyway. I would strongly suggest visiting this site; http://www.blizzard.com/war3/ There are 4 sides in this RPG. Orcs- Ancient bloodthirsty, green-skinned creatures. The Orcs are lead by Thrall, a farseer. They are loyal and many have moved on, listening to the prophet. They have been waring with the humans for eons and still bear a great untrust. This is something they must overcome, if they are to survive. Humans- Probably the most advanced race on the planet. The survivours of the humans, are being lead by a powderful yound sourcerouress, Jaina Proudmoore. She has taught her ranks to trust the orcs a little more than they once did. But their arrogance may well be their undoing. Undead- They are the reason that turmoil has broken out among the lands. Currently the undead are being lead by a dread lord, by the name of Ner'Zhul, but he is not the leader of the Legion. The undead, must first reach the land of the Night Elves to ressurect their true leader. If the other forces don't unite against the Legion, the undead will gain control. Night Elves- The most ancient race of the planet. They are greatly untrusting of all the races. They will defend their lands, but are refusing to help any of the races at the moment. They are arrogant and believe they can get by on thier own. Despite what they belive, none of the races will stand against the undead if they do not unite. This is what will be required of you, if you wish to sign up for this RPG: Race: (orc, human, undead or night elf) Name: Rank: (where you stand, power wise within your forces, preferably not an army ranking.) Bio: Unit Type: (you can make you own up, or use one that's already been created.) Skills: (Each unit has specific abilities, and you are no exception, here you must spell them out and give a short description, don't go overboard.) Equipment: (there are many magical items in this land, aswell as basic weapons, no guns.) That should be enough for the moment. If anything else is required, I'll edit this post later on. You can sign up as 1 or 2 characters. Everyone who signs up will make it. Enjoy.

I've been playing the drum kit for a bit over 4 years I think. People say I'm pretty damn good, but I think I'm pretty crap considering how long I've actually been playing. I started playing the guitar a little over a year and a half ago, and it's heaps of fun. But the drumkit is easily the most enjoyable of the two.

Yeah, I have asked as many people as I can find, but no one seems to have heard of one of my favourite bands. Jimmy's Chicken Shack. They are a great American band, and they're songs are awesome. So has anyone heard of them here? -

Well, I wouldn't really consider Nightwish nu-metal. Yeah, I'll have to agree with you there, it's all pretty crappy. Speaking of crappy, has anyone heard a song called "Get Free" by the Vines. It's absolutly terrible. Another band that I am really getting sick of is, Tenacious D. All there music is the same, and it's so very boring. -
Conformity. The way we live is conformist. To truly be a non-conformist you have to break away from they way the majority lives. You have to leave a town, wear your own clothes, stop working for a piece of plastic, so after a few numbers appear on a screen you can go and waste the digits you earned on some other peice of plastic. Society is conformity.

Well, I'm going to quote a Calvin and Hobbes cartoon and just say this. "I believe in destiny, it's alot more fun to have something to blame."

Yeah, I'm not saying that she isn't having fun doing her thang'. But still, she hasn't got too much talent, drumming wise. Anyone who read Harlequin's last post, trust me, don't but any Nightwish. -
Real Name: Indrid Hand Elemental Name: Lament Elemental: Lightning Brief Dis.Of Regular: Indrid is tall, with long flowing black hair. Always dressed in long white pants and long white shirt, karate gear. Indrid is outgoing and generally pretty easy. Brief Dis.Of Elemental: Lament, is basically Indrid, in the same clothing. His hair is changed to a white blond. He also sprouts wings enabling flight. Lament has a powerful voice and when he speaks, all listen. He still retains Indrid's sense of humour, which is slightly twisted, oh well. Lament, being a lightning element based entity, has amazing speed and agility. Staff Discription: Long, spiky and whitish yellow. It resmebles a bolt of lightning, being quite jagged. There is a smooth part in the middle, for a hold. At the end of the staff is a white circle. Coursing across the bright circle are smaller bolts of lightning, no direction in particular. Summon Phrase: "The storm has come." Summon Scene: A lightning bolt shoots out of the ground, lancing into the sky. Shortly after six bolts land around Indrid. When these bolts dissapear, there a six white boulders implanted in the ground. Lightning courses around these stones and then across, jumping to each other. During this mayhem, Lament shoots out of the ground, into the air. Weapons: Indrid, is equipped with a long sword, with intricite carvings in it.

Anna, you are damn right about the White Stripes drummer. She is terrible. I am a fellow drummer and compared to her the guy from Limp Bizkit had talent. Yeah, while were on the subject, he's crap too. I don't care how big his drumkit was in the film clip for "Take a look around" was, he's crap. Now, Danny Carey, there's a drummer... -
Currently the signatures Harlequin and Ravenstorture have are from me. I'm guessing he's had quite a few complaints about it but, yes this is all my fault. "Jesus is dead. Get over it."

Anyone who likes Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins or Soundgarden is my freind. Even more so if they hate bands such as Slipknot and the like. Well I have been listening to alot of music other than just rock lately, like The White Stripes. Most of them are just annoying one hit wonders, with a predominantly bad album. Grinspoon's new album aswell as the Red Hot Chili Pepper's album have been welcomed by me as oppossed to the cascade of crappy overdone pop and metal. Tool have a new album coming out soon, so that should really show what type of 'metal' people should be listening to. Oh well, that's me. -
Sorry Mist, but I have to say, not much comes close to Tool. There is no band I've heard that are anything like them at all, and you have to commend that. In concert they were perfect. Every song was flawless and even more than that, Danny Carey, their drummer played about half the night with one drumstick. Anyone who can do that and still get all the fills perfect, is brilliant.
-
Yeah, Blood Sugar Sex Magik is most definatly not their first album. It's great to see that he has John has come along way, but I love the "twangy feel" that they used in so many great songs, like Funky Monks and Mellowship Slinky in B Major, love that song. No you aren't the only one who liked One Hot Minute, that has some brilliant songs on it. Umm Give it Away is on Blood Sugar Sex Magik and I think Love Rollercoaster is one One Hot Minute.
-
Just one more thing. If America are waging a war on terror, are they going strike out against the IRA? They have been attacking England for howevere long now, so what's America going to do there?
-
The latest Chili Peppers album, I have heard very mixed reviews. I know it's nothing on Blood Sugar Sex Magik, easily their best. Yeah, I really like By The Way, I think they are definatly still going strong. I was just wondering what everyone else thinks of this album. Personally, I think it's great, anyway. What about you?
-
Yeah, sorry if anyone gets pissed at me, but I really can't stand people who say they like underground music, just because they are trying to be alternative, that pissess me off. Anyway. Tool, brilliant band, they have a new album coming out next year, and that is definatly something to look forward to. Also if you get the chance, see them in conert, they are brilliant.

Well it's nice to see that you believe they are martyrs, regardless of what act. That brings me to my next question, though. IF they died for their faith, ins't that an honourable sacrifice? Another thing, America has been talking about taking a cause of justice and stuff like that, but isnt killing more civialians then were actually killed in the original attack kind of a conridiction?
-
Does anyone here consider the Afgans who died attacking America, martyrs? I am not sure if people will be able to look past the fact that they killed so many innocents, but still. If they died for what they belive in, for their faith, are they martyrs? I hope you can look past the fact that people in America died for something they had no idea about, but I want some interesting discussion. All this talk about remembering 9\11 has got me thinkin. I was just wondering what everyone else thinks about this.
