Just here to report that I've put the 18th Jan 2019 into my calendar, in case this happens again. Hope to see some of you guys then!

THEY ARE ADORABLE AND THE SWEETEST THINGS EVER. ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO RESPECTFULLY REQUEST AN UPDATE ON THE TINY HUMANS, who must now be 18 months or so?

I suppose the cruelty in having grown up in such an amazing place like this is that it may take over a year for you to find out that an old friend is gone. According to the obituary, your anniversary was exactly a week ago, and I am so, so sorry to find out you're gone. I just don't even have words tonight.

The other day I was catching a train home and ended up talking to this girl. We hit it off (I'm actively recruiting friends in the London region, btw), and so I asked for details. The conversation went thusly: Me: So do you have facebook? I can add you! Her: No, I don't really use it...I'm one of those people. Me: Oh okay, what about a phone number? Her: I do have a number! But I only have an old-school Nokia and I don't really use it. Do you have twitter? Me: Shit, I don't have one sorry. Instagram? Her: No, phone doesn't take photos so no real use for it. How about e-mail? Me: Oh, sure! I have a gmail -- we could chat? Her: Here's my hotmail account. In conclusion, the world is super connected but weirdly not these days, and each time I come back to these boards lately I have a little freak out about the fact that I lost all of these friends that probably have no idea how much I miss them or reminisce. So: I now have a twitter! Because it seems like the most public and least dodgy way to maintain contact? I thought about posting my snapchat name on the internet but was worried I'd end up with an inbox full of dicks -- not from you guys but trolls, mostly. So I am at @katalilundone , which was originally katalilondon but I entertain myself with silly words. If I know you from le past and you would like to catch up, please feel free to send me a message either via OB or twitter and I can provide any of the following details: a) E-mail b) Snapchat c) What's app d) Instagram (which is boring because my local cafe will give you a free Bloody Mary if you instagram pictures of their menu, which is the entire purpose of my instagram) e) Facebook f) LinkedIn (Although why would you?) g) Skype I would love to know how to contact all of you, as well, so that I don't have to try to stalk someone like Charlie or Juu to see if they ever cough up contact details!

I am SO GLAD that I did not try to log on when it was down. Last time I was on the site I cried from nostalgia -- what if I'd thought it was down for good? I would have been inconsolable!

We lament a lot about the 'pace' of the world and how everything is speeding up with e-mails and texts and twitter, and so on. And I'm a staunch defender of modern technology; it lets me speak to my family halfway around the world, let me carry on a long-distance relationship for a couple of months with as little disruption as possible, and lets me find ways to put my thoughts into actions as quickly as I have thoughts. Having said that, though, I am starting to come around to the idea that Google killed conversation. When was the last time that you had a discussion, an argument, a debate about some obscure topic and the question, almost as soon as it was raised, was responded with "Oh, let me google that!" -- and the answer provided in 60 seconds (105 seconds if you have a slow connection) ? I'm pretty sure I did that yesterday, so I'm not trying to pretend that I'm not a culprit. And it's handy having the information at your fingertips -- there has been more than one occasion where I truly enjoyed shooting down my flatmate's stupid idea with a simple swipe of my fingers. But having said that, recently the boyfriend and I have been 'doing brunch'. It's something we've started because we're both working, and I'm starting a new job that is quite honest about the crazy hours required, and it gives us 'alone' time where I'm not worried about whether or not the kitchen is clean on a Saturday morning. So we brunch. And we've now got this unspoken rule that, if we are having brunch, the phones stay at home. And suddenly our world just sort of opened up to this long forgotten art of debate for debate's sake, rather than to answer a question. Verbally sparring is fun again, which I never realised I missed until I found it. In conclusion: next time you head to dinner or whatever, ban the phones and see where it leads! Or tell me about what else google has ruined for you. Or what you think of the modern day conversation. Let's be honest -- even the vaguest link to this topic would work. Heh.

I've never heard of Reading Rainbow and while I could probably google it, I'd rather hear from those who have experienced it; what was it? What did you enjoy about it - why did you enjoy it? How long was it on the air for?
-
I would love to cameo but I literally started a new job today - and since it's a fancy, high-power role with a FTSE100 company, I don't know how much time I will have on a realistic scale! But I would at least like to drive-by!

Aaaaah....my boyfriend and some of his friends run a Steam community with around 200 members so our server is open to anyone but preference is for members of the community. :) I've just gotten back into Pokemon and it is awesome. I bought a second hand DS specifically to play it (and pokemon black), and now I really want to get FireRed and HeartGold just to replay the games I grew up with.

Boyfriend and I pulling funny faces at a friend's birthday. :] -
My friends and I actually run a minecraft server which is pretty fun. It's at mc.thebohage.com (when you need to provide a server to log into). Maybe I'll see you around!

I'm never here anymore but suddenly wanted to come for a visit and started reading this thread. I know it's silly since everyone moved on like me, but the idea of losing all the connections I had on here just sort of makes me want to cry. You guys were my childhood. And it was a good one. If anyone does have facebook and wants to add me, send me a message. I'd love you add you guys. :)

James, my server is boh.lambent.net.au (just type it into the multiplayer section) and I would definitely recommend it. There's no registration required, but to be able to place blocks you have to be upgraded from default class by an admin -- if I'm online I can do it for you. If I'm not online, just tell them you're Katalimaq's friend and they'll have no problems advancing you. That guy, the castle is amazing! It looks absolutely brilliant. I'm really awful with building....so much of what I make ends up being square....
I play Minecraft quite a bit, but so far I've only really played much of Minecraft Classic. I do have a save file for the full game - and I've played quite a bit of that too - but I've been building a city in Minecraft Classic and it's now quite large. I have yet to play online although I'd really love to. I tried entering one or two servers, but I couldn't get onto them for some reason. What I'd really like is to play Minecraft Classic on multiplayer and build a huge city with other players. When I next play Classic, I'll have to take some screenshots of the city I'm working on...
Oh, please do! I love seeing what other people have done, for me that's half the fun of the server. I love being able to see the cities and buildings everyone has made. And I love how creative everyone gets! People went through a big portal phase when Portal 2 came out, so we've got mazes and obstacle courses and even a co-op maze dungeon. And we've just installed a fight mod with a hand built arena, which is so much fun as well. We're encouraging everyone to build their own arena so we can have fights in different areas every Wednesday. And you can choose to fight bare handed, with an axe or be an archer...it's kind of awesome. For stuff I've made, my current favourite is this cute little cottage I made. It's even got a fireplace! Burnt the house down three times before I realised I had to contain the fire completely because fire works in strange ways...luckily we have rollback on the server so it wasn't a complete disaster. =]

I miss the OB crowd. I should come back here more often...

I know I haven't been on the forums for a long time, but I figured I'd check in here to see if anyone else is playing this timesuck of a game? I am absolutely addicted to it. I started off on singleplayer and then moved to an SMP server we've got with some friends, and now I can't go back! Singleplayer just seems so damn boring now. Plus the whole co-op building and living thing is wonderful. And the mods! Oh, the mods. So here is my little questionnaire for minecraft: Single or Multiplayer? What's the favourite structure you've built? (Pictures if you have them!) What's your best minecraft story? If you're on a server, which one, and what mods do they have? (Not that I'm constantly on the lookout for cool mods or anything...) Do you use a texture pack, and if so, which? What is your favourite mob? Do you have enough diamonds? :p Me: Single or Multiplayer? Multi. As I've already stated. To put it in crass terms, going back to single player is like going back to masturbation after having sex. I'll do it if I feel like it, but I'll always take the option to do multiplayer over single. What's the favourite structure you've built? (Pictures if you have them!) I have no pictures (angry face) because we had to overwrite the server, but I made a giant snow castle with a snowflake pattern built into the walls. It was made out of glass and snow, and it looked awesome! What's your best minecraft story? Uhm...I spawned a zombie pigman out of a zombie. We have a mod on our server where if you've donated then you enter the game on a thunderbolt. I went to bed to skip night, but for some reason a zombie spawned in my well-lit room. It was attacking me and killed me a couple of times, so I teleported back to my house. There's a glitch where, if you teleport you can't see mobs sometimes, so I logged out of the game and then back in, but because the zombie had been attacking me, he was standing exactly where I was, got hit by lightning, and turned into a pigman! Then he glitched so neither of us could hurt each other. So I kept him until he despawned. He was called Mr. Grunty Shambles, and I luffed him. If you're on a server, which one, and what mods do they have? (Not that I'm constantly on the lookout for cool mods or anything...*shifty*) I'm on the boh server at boh.lambent.net.au, which you're welcome to check out if you guys want... I kind of love it because we have such cool stuff built on it. And we have mods installed so you can be a builder or a survivalist. Builders get kits so they can create amazing structures, while survivalists have skills and can level up. Then we have some crazy mods, especially if you're a VIP (for donation) -- you have a portal stick and you can use it like it's from Portal, which is SO COOL. And a flying mod, and a hat mod and...yeah. I just sort of love it. Do you use a texture pack, and if so, which? I don't! I kind of love the way the original looks, to be honest. And fancy graphics are just fancy. What is your favourite mob? Pink sheep. I tried to keep one called Mr. Fluffikins, but he despawned. :< Do you have enough diamonds? :p Never enough!

I would just like to say that boys who are too bloody flaky to confirm plans annoy the crap out of me. I wouldn't put up with it from any of my other friends, so why should I put up with it from you?

I saw this with my friends, and I was expecting great things. I was not disappointed. ....I may have had a nerd-gasm. Basically, from the very beginning you're like, "This is really cool!" Then just when you think that it can't get cooler, it does, and that keeps happening until your brain explodes from pure, unadulterated geeky pleasure. Then you realise that the movie is only half-finished and it happens all over again. Me = satisfied! Tentacle, I totally DIDN'T catch the old school references until you mentioned it! The second time I saw it, I realised each time Scott fights an ex, all around them they've got the number of the ex. For example, when he's fighting
Lucas Lee
, the opponent's belt buckle has two X's on it. It's fun trying to spot the different bits and pieces. God, I want to go see this movie a third time. I'm just not getting over it! Have already grabbed the soundtrack, too. Me = obsessed! Things that make you feel like drinking.

This final exam makes me want to drink. We haven't been told anything about it, not even the format...and it's in French. It could be grammar points, it could be translation, it could be simply writing a passage -- all of which need specific study focuses. Too late now, exam's today. My master study plan involves having a Gin and Squash before the exam. Sounds like a plan to fail but I speak better French when I'm relaxed... -
FIFA World Cup 2010 - South Africa
Lady Asphyxia replied to OMNOMNOMALY's topic in General Discussion
Me = shattered. Can't entirely claim to be surprised. We were hopefully optimistic but it just didn't work. Germany is one of the best teams in the world -- they've gotten to the semi-finals or above 11 times. Australia's only gotten into the world cup 3 times. At the end of the day....we were just outplayed. I think the worst part in all this is that we've now lost Cahill for the game against Ghana. I'm hopeful we'll be okay, but... *shrug* -
I'm really not that picky when it comes to Wine. Usually it what ever I can afford at the time. I guess if I have to pick though it would be Hawkstone. I haven't tried Riesling though. I'll have to next time.
Riesling is a variety of wine, like Chardonnay. I'm guessing Hawkstone is a wine label... I quite like sweeter wines. Brown Brothers (in Australia) do a wine called Zibibbo. It's a really light, quite sweet sparkling wine and I kind of adore it. It's like the candy equivalent of wine.
