1. I like most different types of music, but I've found that I lean towards alternative music (mostly British alternative, from what I've heard it called before, such as Coldplay, Oasis, Muse, etc.). I'll like pretty much everything except for most contemporary Christian music and country (except for Nickel Creek, in which that country 'twang' is absent). I'm not that crazy about hip-hop though, but it's great to dance to if it's Good hip-hop. and I've never had a problem with R&B, I just hadn't looked much into it up until a couple of months ago. Prozzak

indeed, I know of this Prozzak you speak of. I was so convinced back in the day that I was gonna buy one of their CD's, but I never got around to it. it's been a LONG while since I've heard their music last though, so I'm not sure if I'd still like them or not. but I did at one point. guess I'll go do some research now... EDIT: after much deliberation, I can't fathom how I could have liked that stuff. if you like it, by all means like it, I'm just stating my opinion. but holy mother! "...Be as white as you want to Be as black as you want to Be as brown as you want to Don't let anybody stop you..." obviously its intention was to convey not to be afraid to be yourself once you look at the rest of the song, but who comes up with "Be as brown as you want to?" I guess I could try that out, see how far it gets me, ya know. but the writing isn't even funny-bad, this is just bad-bad.
  4. those phone commercials with the old women are hilarious. I've only seen them during Adult Swim though, dangit. the "ten kinds of nasty" was kinda...nasty though... THE funniest commercial I've ever seen is one I've never actually seen on TV. it's probably played before, but maybe just not in the U.S... anywho, it's advertising salmon or fish of some sort, with a bear near a stream with some fish, when this guy comes running out of the woods, randomely yelling and starts fighting the bear for the fish. in the end, the man wins and walks off with the fish. I found the commercial! http://thatwasrandom.com/video/funnybear.php
  5. ohhhhh, okay! I missed that part.
I only paid attention to her saying that he ran off with the costume; didn't hear her say anything about the dead animals, heh.

  6.
well, maybe he didn't know about the monsters being fake earlier :p. he probably would've tried telling Ivy or something if he did know, anyway. I'm still a bit skeptical about the thought that he was the one who shaved the skin off of the animals. he felt badly after he stabbed Lucius, but he never looked like he felt bad about the animals being skinned, if that was him who did it. maybe he didn't think it was as bad to kill sheep compared to other humans, so it wouldn't have made him feel bad to skin sheep, if he did do it. if he did though, his parents would have had to know about it, since they'd have to have been the ones to clean up after him; Noah didn't even bother to clean the blood off his hands after stabbing Lucius. this is all rambling though, so....blah!

  7.
I figured that Noah knew about the whole Monster thing, but I was sad to see he had actually played a part in it near the end. and even though he wasn't 'all there,' he still knew what he was doing wasn't right. like how after Lucius unknowingy turned into the dagger and fell to the floor, Noah was hesitant about stabbing him again, but did it anyway. not to mention how when he started laughing about the 'bad color' being on his hands, he started crying instead. about the whole 'bad color' thing, big complex guesswork I know :p , but it probably represented violence and of course blood (hah), something that all of the people who started the town had gone through (violence I mean, losing loved ones and such), so the red on the doors could have been a reminder to those who did know the whole thing was a farce about the life they'd go back to if anyone had wandered out of the woods and seen what the world was really like. to those who didn't know the secret, it'd just keep them scared enough not to go into the woods. I don't know why they would've bothered with the color yellow though.
:EDIT: Bryce Dallas Howard was amazing. I was really impressed with her acting. I hate how when people try acting scared, they come off looking either not that scared, over-the-top, or really fake (*cough*Spiderman 2*cough*). but she did it perfectly,
especially in the woods scenes. everybody had really good acting I think, except for Noah's mother in the end. her attempt at crying was hilarious. and that whole Kevin and Director scene. gawd, I hate that scene...

  8. I really enjoyed the movie. Ivy really was one of the best parts of the movie,
along with Noah and his part in the movie, imo
. I think if I had gone into the movie thinking it was supposed to be scary I wouldn't have liked it as much; luckily the notion was fixed beforehand, so I wasn't disappointed at all.
one of the parts I can think of that I didn't like was the whole scene with Kevin getting the medicine in the office. like the guy's not gonna notice him taking stuff from his shelves just because he's reading. that scene was completely unnecessary; just a cheap excuse to get the director's cameo in.

  9. most 'drama' I've been a part of happened in middle school, hard to believe. one incident involved a pathological liar who I simply broke ties with, and another one involved a friend of mine who had almost the entire female 7th grade against her because she was agnostic and not Christian (like the hick girls that picked on her). that one was Horrible; during the worst of it, a couple of the somewhat popular girls had rallied literally almost all of the girls on the break field to march over to where she (let's call her Lucy) and I were hanging out to badger us and see what trouble they could cause (about half of them were just onlookers, while the other half did the jeering). most of the insults sounded like, "So if you don't believe in God, do you think you evolved out of a monkey? or maybe a cow?", with some various typical junior-high name-calling intermixed in it all. after about five minutes of hearing what they all had to say, she and I walked inside and went to the counselor's office, where she did absolutely nothing, other than talk about how a few of the girls (whose names she wouldn't disclose) had told her that Lucy was bulimic and had threatened to kill herself, and wanted to get her guardian's name and phone number to 'talk to her about some things.' that particular experience is half the reason why I have a loathing for closed-minded people; especially those who use religion to put others down.
  10.
It's kinda not fair for the kids my age who are really mature and know when to stop acting like a four-year-old and be sensibe.
unfortunately, for every one of you, there are about five more who don't have enough sense to act right. from a business POV, I probably wouldn't take chances either. I like the idea. not like I'd be able to eat there lol, but Zaxby's or Chik-Fil-A is plenty good enough for me, so I'm not particularly bothered by it. I wouldn't be surprised if the restaurant ended up doing well despite the age restriction. it being more 'exclusive' will ensure the people who want a quiet, kid-free evening that they'll get it, and make the people who can't go want to go all the more (as seen by those who don't like the 25 and over rule); guess where they're gonna be eating dinner on their 25th birthday? assuming the place has a good reputation, of course. just depends on how many more people they'd get to come as opposed to how many customers they'd be losing because of the new rule.
  11.
Dumbledore annoyed me more than Harry though. He was too....I can't even think of a word to describe it. Instead of the calm, quiet, mysterious Dumbledore that was in the books and the other two movies, the new Dumbledore seemed noisy, less mysterious, and less subtle. If there's no other possible Dumbledore, I hope that the new one can learn to act like the old Dumbledore!
heh, in all the books, Dumbedore is actually quite jolly whenever there's nothing pressing happening. I absolutely HATED Dumbledore in the first two movies because he DID act so bland and old. he looked like he was about to croak over and die all the time. ...I just realized what I said, rest the guy's soul. anyways, in the first couple of books, Dumbledore seems very energetic, considering how old he is. only around the last couple of books did Harry notice how Dumbledore had started showing his age.
  12.
One thing that bugs me about the movies is that the actors aren't what I pictured them to be in the books. As mentioned before, there's that age thing where the kids are supposed to be 13 but the actors are 16 or older. It kind of throws off the movies because it's weird seeing a 16 yr old act younger than they are...Well, I'm still gonna go see it and maybe it won't be too bad.
while the physical looks of the actors might not match the intended ages, if you get good enough actors, age wouldn't be that much of a problem, since they'd be able to act their parts well enough to the point where you actually start seeing them as 13 and 14-year olds rather than themselves.
People already have a fixed idea of what the books are supposed to be, therefore they have a set idea on what the movies are supposed to be...and everyone has a different opinion of what the correct "Potter-verse" is. There are so many factors that go into making the Harry Potter books so believable...Do you know what a major part of them makes the books so believable? Your own imagination. And if it is all put in front of you to observe and not take part in, of course you'll feel like there's something missing. Now there's one last thing I'm wondering about...Why are people who like the books not seeing the movie because they're afraid they'll be disappointed? So what? So you don't like the movie...what's the big deal? There's still the excellent book that you can enjoy... I remember being a little disappointed by the second movie, but I didn't think any less of the book after seeing it.
well, here are my reasons, anyway. I'm not going to spend my money to see something I know I'll be disappointed with, especially when there are plenty of other movies to see besides this one. and I would be disappointed with it for the exact reason you already wrote: I already have a set idea of what things should be what in the story, from certain mannerisms of characters to the feel of how the settings look. and I'm very happy with my take on it all, lol. yeah, the book and the movie are obviously going to be different from each other, can't be helped. but after seeing the first and second movies (which I don't particularly care for, like I've mentioned earlier), it took me ages to get my original images of the books back, because I'd forgotten what the movies were like after a while. kind of hard to remember your own view of something that did depend so much on just your imagination after seeing something more tangible in its place. I'm sure if I hadn't read the books beforehand, I couldn't care less about how true to the books the movies are; I love the Lord of the Ring movies, and I haven't read any of the books, except for the first 80 or so pages of the first one. I guess in a way it just depends on what I get to first. :whoops:
  13. that's right. you just wouldn't give a guy a second thought if he didn't pop right out of some fantasy anime is all. here's some stuff to get an idea from: Goods - a genuinely nice smile - I want to be happy when I'm with the guy for crying out loud, and it'd be really hard to if he hardly looked happy himself. - some similar tastes - could be books, music, activities/hobbies, etc. They don't all have to completely match, but it'd be good to have a little bit of something to have in common to start off with. - manners - includes the should-already-be-known decent manners, along with the sense to know the times when it's okay to be goofy or obnoxious, and when it's not (a liiiiittle somethin' I like to call maturity). - "that certain, special, something..." - I suppose this is the....aura (?!) that he gives off, heh. it doesn't really have to do with a personality trait, since there are plenty of guys who share the same characteristics, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'll feel the same way about all of them. it's just something he either has or doesn't have, lol. kinda like physical chemistry, except more like.... bah, overall chemistry, I guess. Bads - lack of hygiene - come on now. is it really that much to ask to brush your teeth and take a shower every day? cuz it shouldn't be. :whoops: - loud and/or obnoxious to a fault - I actually like it if a guy's a little out there sometimes, but if he's like that all the time, then there's gonna be some problems. - egostical, "me" attitude - I don't think this one needs to be explained. - no common sense - while having book smarts is a big plus but isn't necessarily required, common sense is absolutely mandatory. if said person doesn't have it, there's gonna be some problems. - overdramatic-ness - I hate it when people act like they're in some drama and they can't talk about something without making a display about it. not only is it aggravating, but it makes them look like they're being insincere because they're concentrating more on how they're looking talking to you than what they're actually talking to you about.
  14. songs that have particularly loaded memories behind them usually trigger stuff like that. New Found Glory's "The Story So Far" and Coldplay's "The Scientist" come to mind pretty quickly. then there are some songs that I tear up at that are extremely ridiculous -- usually older songs that my dad listens to all the time. there's this one song about someone named Shannon and how she ran away and probably drifted out to sea; it ended up talking about a dog. isn't that great? and since then, I get this silly image of a dog (think My Dog Skip) in the middle of the ocean about to drown out there all alone. the thought is actually kinda sad, and then I end up laughing at myself while trying to remain nonchalant. nothin' quite like it. :wigout:
  15. the title's pretty much self-explanatory, lol. I very recently started giving piano lessons, and while I'm doing all right so far, if any of you have any tips to share, I'd like to hear 'em. especially anything catering towards teaching little kids.
  16.
the complete lack of emotional response to such a barbaric act astounds me.
at least I'm not the only one who's more than a little surprised. it would make more sense if they killed one of the people who was actually abusing Iraqi prisoners, if they were to do it out of justice, if anything. but they took an innocent man who had nothing to do with any of the brutality that happened at POW camps and killed him in order to threaten America and to satisfy whims of revenge. I really don't have an opinion as to whether the American military should stay or get out; there are so many different points of view floating around (no telling how biased some of them are) that I'm not going to make any firm opinions on it as of yet. but that's completely besides the point. if the protesters/etc. have a problem with the American military, then they should stick to fighting the American military instead of bringing people who don't have anything to do with the fighting into it as bait. the fact that some people don't care if one of the sides purposefully kills an innocent person out of something like revenge is sad to me. America isn't exactly innocent either; but if people can get worked up about Iraqi prisoners being mistreated (who are supposedly a mixture of both innocent and criminal people), then how is it that someone who had nothing to do with the situation can be beheaded to 'get back at Americans', and it's no big deal? it doesn't matter how 'quick and painless' it was. the fact is that he was still killed when he didn't do anything to deserve it. it might be generally common for stuff like this to happen in a war, but just because it happens on more than one occasion doesn't mean that it's right and we should just settle and be okay with it.
  17. heh, I'd watch Will and Grace over Friends anyday. Friends is an okay show, but they ran out of stuff to write about a good while back. I probably will watch the finale though, if I can get someone to record it for me.
  18. I absolutely love the Harry Potter books. which is why I'm not going to see the third movie; the first two movies didn't do the books any justice. I'm not going to taint my image of the third book by watching that darned movie, heh.
  19.
Slutt? Do you know the definition of it? In order to tell if someone is a slutt you have to know them personally to declare one but no one does therefore calling her that based on what she does in a music video or on tv is just plain ignorant. I am sorry if I am being rude but it is true. I just think anyone who judges someone off that bat without personally knowing them shows ignorance. I think sexuality no matter what form it takes is part of a personal choice and if they feel need to show it let them... You can easily change the channel or not listen to it. That is just my opinion on the subject.
okay, so if she isn't a slut (which none of us knows; she very well could be, but none of us personally knows her, so we don't know for sure, right?), let me rephrase what I originally said. since exposing large areas of her body is the main device she uses to get attention, I think she's cheap, as in "tastelessly showy," lewd, as in "suggestive of moral looseness" (this one isn't just a personal opinion; this one's got so much proof behind it that to try debate it is ludicrous), and obscene, as in "offensive to chastity or modesty; expressing of presenting to the mind or view something which delicacy, purity, and decency forbid to be exposed." I don't care if she dresses indecently and does what she does so she can get loads of money; the fact is that she's doing it nonetheless. and seeing as how I don't think very highly of people who resort to using their bodies like that to get fame, money, attention, or whatever else goes along with it, I don't have a very high opinion of Britney Spears. and it's not just Britney I'm ragging on; I have the same opinion of other singers/performers and anyone else who does the same thing. in the mean time, I'm not complaining of how I hate that she's on MTV all the time, among various other networks for whatever she's done at the time, since I'm apathetic to if she or isn't either way. just like everyone else, I'm stating my opinion of her music and of her from what I've seen/heard; seeing as how that is the topic of discussion, from what the introductory post says.
  20.
She is just a singer who likes to be sexy. Welcome people to human nature! God get over it what she wears and what she does. Who cares! She is diffrent from what you like... So what that doesn't mean she is a slutt. You know how much I dispiss that word. It is one of my pet peeves. I don't like Britney's music and her image can be toned down but is she a slutt... No... She is a human being who likes to be sexual. Welcome to human nature. Humans are naturally sexual animals and if you have a problem with it don't watch it or even listen to it. You have a choice in the matter. I don't like her music but I am not going to call her a slutt because of it.
lol, exactly how do you dispiss something? it's all fine and dandy that she's comfortable with her sexuality, but there are certain lines that shouldn't be crossed. when you go out of the privacy of your house wearing something that leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination, that's taking it too far. people get arrested for that in most places, heh. personally, I never referred to her as being a slut up until now. I just happen to think she doesn't have a lot of talent, and tries using her body to make up for it. which is exactly what she does. and since exposing large areas of her body is the main device she uses to get attention, I consider her to be a slut, or something to the equivalent of that.
  21. well, Britney's music isn't exactly meant to be for 10-year olds in the first place. she's not trying to entice that group of people. so that's not quite her fault that your sister happens to like her, lol.
Britney is cool, and I look up to her... because her voice is amazing. I can mimic her exactly and always could.... She has a great vocal range.
LOL, most anybody can sing like her. she is no amazing singer by any means; that great range she has consists of about seven notes. I'm not talking about what she happens to breath in a high voice with about three other background singers to help her hit it, but actual notes with support behind them that can be heard from at least a ten-foot radius. and nowadays, most anything she sings is synthesized or messed with (as in, edited to sound better) as it is. granted, she may be a decent performer/dancer, but singing is definitely not one of her strong points.
  22. psh, Hilary Duff can sing better than Britney Spears. do you see how BAD that is? Toxic would probably be just as popular if some other sexed-up performer 'sang' it, heh. the only reason she's as popular as she is now is because she looks like Miss Thang, and she has the timbre to go along with the image.
  23. and nobody's mentioned Teen Girl Squad yet? bah! "MSG'd!" "My lungs are filling up with sand. and cigarette butts." Homestar's gotta be my favorite character out of everybody. Strong Sad's just plain annoying though, other than the "I don't like food anymore" bit, lol. the games kinda suck, but what can ya do? mostly I just watch the toons and Strongbad Emails.
  24. my 'bubble' has a radius of about one foot. I become uncomfortable once that one foot is breached. it really shows in groups pictures, too. everybody will be all huddled in, trying to fit and whatnot, and I'll look like I'm trying to stand as far away from the person beside me as possible. it's not like I consciously try to lol, since most of the time I don't even realize I'm doing it. I've tried getting better about that recently, so I don't get as weird nowadays when the situation arises.
  25. of course he wears makeup; most anyone (guys included) who's being professionally photographed or appears on television wears it. it's not a new concept by any means. as for the guy looking the way he does, what does that have to do with it being so odd that he's married? what, did you expect him to be gay because he doesn't look like a regular guy? personally, I don't think he looks all that feminine anyway; but even if I did agree with you on that, I still can't find any logic in it being so 'freaky' that he has a wife. anywho, I just downloaded that Penny and Me song, and it doesn't sound half bad. not really knock-my-shoschs-off good, but it was decent. I think I liked the acoustic version more.
