Is it me, or does TN beat me to the punch everytime? This topic is centering around X2, so you'll have to take this conversation to that thread. And ozwald, try to post more than one word when starting a thread. Thanks. Thread Closed

I saw Dogma and Mallrats, and Kevin Smith is a hilarious. I hear the reason he made his own character, Silent Bob, a non-speaking character is because he can't act. Who'd have thunk? I haven't seen Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, yet. I had a strong feeling that it would have a lot of references to old K. Smith movies, so I want to see either Clerks or Chasing Amy first.

Sara, I think the ability to feel and control others' emotions is called "telempathy." I'm not sure, though. So don't quote me. I just thought of another really good superpower, and it's not even that common... The ability to manipulate light. I could take any source of light and point it in any direction I wish, I could bend light and make things (including myself) invisible, I could create visual illusions, and I could shift the light spectrum to make objects and people appear in different colors. Add that onto my other 3 listed powers (flight, speed, and invulnerability) and I'm set. :excited: Would I team up with other OB members? Yep! We could all join forces and call ourselves The Otaku Friends!

Give me flight, sound-barrier superspeed (with air-friction shielding), and invulnerability and I'm a happy camper. I'd use my powers to make my life easier, mostly. Fly to school in a couple seconds, hammer in nails without worrying about my thumb. Stuff like that. I wouldn't be evil, but I wouldn't exactly be good either. I'd stop crimes as I saw them, but I wouldn't go on nightly patrol and seek out danger. Is "semigood-neutrality" a word?

I want to write a long detailed post about why I never saw the movie and how the parts I have seen advertised just didn't seem funny at all... ...but I just don't think Tom Green is funny.

I know that Magneto is like the most popular villain in X-Men, but he really doesn't need to be in the 3rd movie. It was nice to bring him back for X2, but really now. There's a whole lot of other villains out there the X-Men can tussle with. I hope it'll be the Hellfire Club.

Hmm. There's already a thread on X2, but this is somewhat different, so I'll let this go as long as nobody starts talking about the movie. If mutants were real, to be honest, I'd freak out if I ever knew one personally. Like, if a friend of mine suddenly told me they were a mutant, I'd be a little shocked. That doesn't mean I'd hate or fear them, though. Well, actually, it sort of depends on their powers on how whether or not I'd act differently. If I were dating a girl who told me that touching her skin could kill me, I'd probably either break up with her or take the relationship back a few steps into the "friends" stage. I know that sounds mean, but would you want to date somebody you probably couldn't even sit close to? If I were dating a girl who could control the weather, then rock on. As long as a mutant doesn't have a power that will accidentally kill me just by touching me or looking at me, I'm alright with that. It really all breaks down to a person-by-person thing on whether I'd fear a mutant or not. And if I could be a mutant... I'd want the ability to change my physical appearance to look like anyone I want. Oh, the possibilities.

FOX's longest running show, and it's starting to lose its funniness. Something about this show makes me hope it never ends, but then I watch one of the more recent episodes... The Simpsons is spent. It's had a good, long run, but its humor is getting far too spread out and just plain weird. If/when this show gets cancelled, I'll miss it to death, but most TV series don't need to go past a 7th season (or in this case, 14th).

Way to go, Rick/Ichijyo. I didn't know you had written a movie script or anything, but congratulations just the same. What's the movie about, roughly?

Anime What songs remind you of anime/manga things?

Oh no. You just made a republican reference. *waits for Gokents to turn this into something political* Seriously, though. This looks like a funny movie. Jim has a lot to make up for ever since the "Cable Guy" incident. His movies are funnier when they're less realistic, and this looks like it's going to be one of his better films. Hmm. Suddenly, I feel like watching "Once Bitten."

But they already changed Buruma's name to Bulma. If they really wanted to keep the pun her name, they would've made it Bluma instead of Bulma. And nobody complains about the name Bulma...

I'm a sucker for the oldies. I find that a lot of music before the 1990s tended to involve more talent and a little less gimmick. 1980s: I don't care what anybody says, nobody is better than Stevie Wonder, Prince, Pat Benatar, and a couple of other bands and singers I can't think of right now. It's a shame I can barely remember the music of that decade (what with being born in 84 and all), but it's always good to look back at a band/artist and hear some of their old stuff. 1970s: I admit it! I like just about every song that came out of this decade, including disco! I have not heard one song from the 1970s that I didn't like. All of the music just seemed more fun (and in some cases, more serious) in the 70s. Oh yeah... 1960s: Like, groovy, man. Alas, the only stuff I like out of the 60s are Beatles, Monkees, and the hippie-rockers of Woodstock. I place the blame on those Austin Powers movies. Ever since I saw the first Austin Powers film, I've been interested in the music of the late 60s. Joplin, Santana, Hendrix, and all those musicians were wrote their songs while on LSD. I'm not into drugs, but their music is great is you listen to it while upside-down. :excited:

Just about every story ever told of Robin Hood makes him look like a righteous hero. On one hand, the man went against a usurper of the throne. However, he did commit various crimes in the process that endangered many of the citizens of Sherwood. Let's look to the dictionary(dot com)... terrorist n. One that engages in acts or an act of terrorism. terrorism n. The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons. So if you want to get literal about it, then yes. Robin Hood was a terrorist, as were his Merry Men. However, the real issue is whether or not John really was lining his own pockets with little regard for the people of Sherwood (as well as usurping the throne), and, in the case of Robin himself, if the end justified the means.

I so hope that was sarcasm. Van Damme is a bad actor and he's poorly casted in every role he does. Need I remind you of his role as Guile in the Street Fighter movie?
Originally posted by IcyBunny IMHO the song is poo... nuff said
Did I beat you with my baton and demand that you put more effort in your posts? No. I simply requested that you say just a little bit more than the above sentence. Maybe some of us would like to know why you think the song is "poo." Do you not like Kid Rock? Don't like Sheryl Crow? Don't like this song in particular? I didn't make a demand. I made a request. If short unexplained posts were a running habit for you, then it'd become a demand. I'm not going to delete your post. I love the idea of free speech. If I had something against free speech, that post would've been deleted a long time ago.
Originally posted by Mitch Rose Red? You're kidding, right? That movie's not even scary. Period. Stephen King's books/ movies/ whatever never scare me. *shrug* I guess I'm just not as scared as easily. I don't know a freakishly, ostentatiously scary movie. There's too many to name, and I really haven't exactly seen too many.
You have to understand that I don't see very many scary movies. You could count the number I've seen with one hand, probably. Elm Street 1, New Nightmare, a Hellraiser movie, Scream, I Know What you DidLast Summer, Haunting... Yeah, that's about all I've seen. And Rose Red (the first half, anyway) scared me more than those movies. (as opposed to just startling me, which just about any movie can do to me with the right violin arrangement) Anyway, yeah. I'm easy to scare. It's quite sad, really.

Rose Red. Usually, movies based off of Stephen King stories turn out to be really campy and corny (Langoliers, anyone?), but Rose Red actually creeped me out. Ok, there was that one flashback scene with the ice created with cheap special effects, but it was still pretty good. Plus I scared easily. You can't force me or my father to watch half of the horror films out there.

I have a question, because I'm honestly clueless about this whole "punk rock" genre... If Good Charlotte isn't punk, what are they?
-
Yes, cesar906, but what do you think of the bands/artists and songs mentioned above?
-
Uh oh, looks like a closed thread... J/K :p I'm not gonna close this thread. It's still going pretty well. But radicaledward1, this thread is NOT about Linkin Park. You were probably reading LostProphet's signature.

Actually, I'm pretty satisfied with the way they replaced Shannon. They had already said, in previous episodes, that their mom had an affair with her white lighter. It would only make sense that there was some secret "love child" they had hidden away, because of their forbidden relationship.

Anime How do you feel about the Mainstreaming of Anime...
Manic Webb replied to a topic in Otaku Central
I honestly don't think any kind of movement against anime will go anywhere. All of the mature stuff that goes on TV is clearly rated either TV-PG or TV-14 and the videos in the stores usually say "13 and Up" or "16 and Up." Well, that's in the US, at least. If you can't stop your kids from watching something that is labeled outside of their age demographic, who's fault is that? The company who made it? The company that imported it? Or the parent who doesn't pay attention to what their kids watch? Exactly. So Kellner is the a-hole who took my precious Animaniacs off the air! I thought it was strange when KidsWB suddenly took off all of their original WB cartoons and replaced them with dubbed anime and DC heroes. -
Jackie is a much better actor than Jet. I can't remember the last time Jet Li showed more than 3 emotions in one film. It's always plain seriousness, anger, and slight joy. There's no comparing their fighting. They're two different styles. Still, I've always liked Jackie's movies more. I'm a real sucker for comedy, and Jackie Chan has jokes comming out the stunt-wahzoo. I've never seen a Jackie Chan movie that I didn't laugh at. Then again, I haven't seen very many of Jet Li's Hong Kong films. I've probably only seen about 2 or 3 Hong Kong movies by Li, while my little cousin had me watching as many of Jackie's Hong Kong movies as possible. Analytically, there's probably no way to choose. Personally, I pick Jackie. One more thing! (Quote from "I'm Gonna Get You, Sucka") Kung Fu Joe: "They took away my master." holds up a picture of Bruce Lee "Master!!" Jack: "Wow, Bruce Lee taught you how to fight!?" Kung Fu Joe: "No. Acting coach."
