*covers Shyguy's ears* The "big one" is supposed to be an Earthquake that will strike California like a gigantic jack-hammer. It'll be as its most powerful near the San Andreas fault line. Experts say it'll most likely happen somewhere in the next 10 or so years. (now to be somewhat naive) It's just a theory and nobody knows if a sequence of smaller earth quakes will soften the blow or not. Plus it probably won't come close to half as powerful as they say it will.

There's a Super Saiya-Jin 3?! Well thanks for ruining it for me! :bawl: Just kidding. :D

Top Ten Ways to Freak Out Your Roommate
Manic Webb replied to Darkmoon's topic in General Discussion
Funny, but I'm too afraid of being committed to ever do any of them. Unless... ;) -

FYI: A 4.8 on the rictor(sp?) scale is "stuff falls off the shelf, things loosen up" power. A few things might fall apart, but there shouldn't be many (or any) casualties. The rictor scale is a logrithmic scale, so there's a bigger difference between 4 and 5 than there is between 3 and 4. I guess that Geology class actually came in useful. And to think the rest of my friends took Physics. Ha! :p Seriously, I hope everybody's ok. It is strange to hear about a quake in the U.K. It reminds me to prepare for the pending "big one" that should hit California unexpectedly in the next decade. :nervous:

They start new episodes of Dragonball in October, I think.

Somebody sings badly. This happens... Randy: Contestant, contestant, contestant. You should've practiced longer and trained your voice before coming here. Paula: You know, it wasn't bad. It was... ok. You have your own style and I respect that. By the way, I'm not lying just to make you feel better. Simon: That was the most god-awful redition of that song I've ever heard! Whoever told you that you could sing should have his ears ripped off, shoved down his throat, purged from his body, put on display, and publicly burned!! I love that show. I only watched it because the judges were funny. :D

I hope the fire is controlled before it reaches you, or you at least have enough warning to pack up and go before it reaches you. I remember a few years ago on July 4, my family and friends-of-family were lighting fireworks in the streets (even though it's illegal where I used to live). One of my mom's friends lit a bottle-rocket (which is illegal... period) and it flew off into the tree next door. The tree caught on fire and it spread to the roof. This was only next door, so we thought it would've reached our house. Luckily it was put out before anybody got hurt.

Even if Saiyans could breathe in space (or didn't have to breathe, rather), then there's still a huge issue with body density. Scientifitcally, your body can only be as dense as the air/atmosphere around it. When there's less air aroud your body, your molecules start to loosen. That's why you get light-headed when you're at high altitudes. That's why astronauts have such large space suits. Pumping air into their helmet isn't enough. Air has to surround the entire body or their molecules will divide and they will explode. In order for a Saiyan to survive in space, they'd not only need to breathe in something, but they'd have to have a molecular structure more dense than any living thing on Earth, which isn't very likely considering they can mate with Earth humans. Assuming a planet's atmosphere was extended far enough for them to blow up a planet without getting caught in the explosion, either they were breathing in the outer-most parts of the atmosphere (which would make the air on the planet itself so dense, you or me would either be crushed under the air pressure or get the bends) or that part of the atmosphere would be so thin, they'd start going into dizzy spells.

I agree. The characters don't seem to be growing on me so far, but I guess I'll give them a chance (provided I don't get too caught up with watching MadTV)

I can't play anything, but I can (barely) read music and I'm trying to get my dad to teach me bass guitar. Once someone tells me where C is, I can play sheet music on the piano (very slowly).

Love the show! I stopped watching it for a short while, but I got back into it after I got used to Paige. (Plus TNT plays reruns non-stop!) I was upset when they killed off Prue, but changing the cast is probably what kept the show fresh. I just wish I had seen the season premiere...

Truth about me is that you can play anything around me and I won't care. I don't even like the Backstreet Boys, but if you locked me in a room and only played one of their songs twice, I'd walk out singing the chorus as if I'm their biggest fan. Then I'll turn the song around into a Weird Al-esque parody  The only thing I don't listen to is Country, based mostly on how the music itself sounds. A few popular country singers are ok by me (like LeAnn Rimes and Shania Twain) but that's about it. Other than that, I don't like repeated lyrics/themes in certains genres. Some pop songs tend to talk about "I want to be with you" and "I love to be with you" and it gets on my nerves. I didn't have any respect for N Sync until they released the first "break-up" pop song I've ever heard, "Bye Bye Bye." I like some of these new intrumental pop acts like Michelle Branch and Vanessa Carlton (centering a song around a piano. Brilliant!) I listen to rap all the time, but it's gotten to the point where I don't even pay attention to the lyrics anymore, unless they mean something. It's all about the beat with me, now. I like a lot of bass, which rap (and some forms of rock) have in abundance. (One popular rap song I suggest anyone listen to is "Tainted" by Slum Village. It actually has a message, and the music video doesn't ruin the song) As for now, I'll just stick with R&B and Neo-Soul. There's nothing like a good Jill Scott or Lucy Pearl song... :)

While I'm sure most of the hippies were in it for the neverending supply of drugs and sex, I'm also sure somebody actually cared about the soldiers. I respect some of the ideals of hippies, but like everyone, they went about it all wrong. Anyway... 1. Yes, I think the US is going to war. I'd be an arrogant fool to think I could actually live without seeing a war in my lifetime. 2. No don't think this will be WW3. My guess would be that WW3 will be triggered by these events. 3. I wouldn't volunteer, but I wouldn't injure myself or run away to avoid the draft. If there's one thing I disagree with is Bush's willingness to be the first to attack in a war. In all of the U.S.'s years, we've withheld from being the first to attack in an official war (although I might be wrong, dating back to before WW1)

Or just one of those inconsistancies that we really shouldn't have noticed, because nobody should be as obsessed with the show as we are. ;)

We've gone into small arguments about this in other threads, but now I want it to all hang out! No, not that ;) I want to know what types of music you don't like. Give a valid reason why you don't like it. None of this "it sucks" or "I'm basing my entire opinion off of only one artist/band" bullfeces. If there's no type of music you hate, all the power to you.

I heard that each episode is going to focus a little more on the minor characters (you know, those other masters of the universe). This should be something new.
Originally posted by Lady Macaiodh i hate that show, b/c at this place i was staying, i was forced to watch it nonstop. & they all sucked. just sang songs written by other people, from what i saw.
While I sympathize with you having to watch it non-stop, I disagree with your opinion of the show. When it got down to the last couple weeks, most of the contestants were really good. Since you say they all sucked, I'd really like to hear you sing. Plus they were singing other peoples' songs to test their singing ability, not their song-writting ability. Either way, it was just an elaborate talent show. The only reasons most people watched it were to gander at Paula, hear Randy say everybody's name 5,000 times in a row, and Simon's brutal tactless hontesty.

That statement about hair not changing since birth probably meant that a Saiya-Jin's hair will only grow proportionally to their size as they grow older (unless they cut it like Vegeta or go bald like Nappa). So I think it just means his hair won't grow out any longer.

How does somebody who constantly says how white he is think he's black? It's not like Eminem's ever said the n-word (in any sense of the word) or anything. Eh... I refuse to get into an arguement about his lyrics.

*applaudes Gokents* I couldn't have said it better myself.

I like pop, too. The problem is that pop really means popular music of any genre. Nevertheless, I like "pop" pop. Britney Spears can't really sing, but she's one hell of an entertainer. Same with N Sync, I suppose. I've noticed that pop music starting to branch out more and more into other genre of music. Britney and Justin are getting rappers and hip-hop producing team The Neptunes to do a lot of their songs. Meanwhile, non-britney-esque singers like Vanessa Carlton are going for something different (in her case, centering herself around her piano). That reminds me, I gotta get that new Vanessa Carlton song... :D

I don't own a cell phone, I didn't get a computer until I was 16, I didn't have internet access until I was 14 (WebTV), I don't talk on the phone very often. I lived 13 years without internet or a computer, so I'm sure if I were stripped of those now, I'd adjust... eventually. My only gripe would be no phones at all. There's still a lot of stuff out there for me to do. I can travel, get a non-technical job, or just go to amusement parks a lot. :)

Sylph has a point. I can't conceive how someone can hate a genre of music. Not hate. I mean, I don't like country music, but I don't hate it. I don't listen to that much heavy metal, but I don't say "argh, I hate this music" and develope an indescribable headache and throw the radio out the window. Actually, I like System of a Down and LeAnn Rimes, so maybe they weren't such good examples...
