Originally posted by GhostofSalvtore There isn't a problem with having too many superheroes, I am gonna see all the superhero movies and you will to.
:bawl: It's true! It's true! I am going to see all of them!! :) It's still kinda weird to see so many coming out, though.
Originally posted by PiroMunkie Hahaha, you make me laugh. Please know what you're talking about before ou say something.
That's why I phrased my statement the way I did. I asked whether or not she called herself punk and said it "seems" like you're jumping to conclusions. I wasn't quite sure (and didn't feel like looking for her website or anything) so I just took a guess at it. I wouldn't ask a question like that in sarcasm, and if I didn't, I'd have used a smiley with rolling eyes.

Well, I got my permit last October and no one had time to take me driving until this summer, so I won't be getting my license until August. I think I had only been driving in traffic for a week, when someone cut me off for the first time, another car jumped out in front of me, another car wouldn't let me changes lanes (I mean, they refused to look at my blinker) and I just got lost in a bunch of back-roads the other day. Oh, and my family likes to give conflicting advice... Grandfather says: "You're not skilled enough to go the speed limit, yet." Father says: "If you don't speed up, they'll kill you!"
Originally posted by PiroMunkie The funny (yet sad and annoying) thing is that she tries to dress punk by wearing preppie clothes. She's really trying too hard to be "punk" it's funny. She's like a conversation peace. Making fun of her is so easy. She's all "I'm gonna wear tight faded jeans and a striped shirt so I'll be punk! I'll get them at Old Navy too!" It's like, just wear some plaid, flannel pants and a generic tank top and try to stick with darker colors so you can at least look somewhat punk. But then we'll just call her a poser... hehe.
Has Avril ever actually said she was punk? It seems like you're taking her reference to "preppy clothes" to mean "I'm punk" just because one person thought she was. Punk rock and Avril Lavign never crossed my mind in the same sentence and I don't know anyone who thinks she's punk. I always said she was "pop rock."

...now that I think about it, shouldn't Sasami have her own Jurai Power anyway?
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel Another good example of something they basically just ditched was all of Skinner's Nam flashbacks as a Sergeant. They messed all that up by introducing the real Seymour Skinner. Hans Moleman has died countless times. There are quite a few more.
Actually, they could have kept going with those. After all, Armin Tamzarian (or however his name is spelled) was still in the war. He could still have all of those flashbacks.
Originally posted by Aries Yes, although I hate Disney with a passion, I laugh at how they ruined most of their classics. I see commercials like: Little Mermaid 2 Cinderella 2 Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 Peter Pan 2 And I remember counting something like 11 at one time, and I think it's hillarious how some idiot at Disney thought he would be great for making a sequel to a classic, and screwing disney over
Someone once told me that Disney's new Mickey Mouse show "The House of Mouse" is actually a training ground for new animators to learn how to draw classic characters for the sequels. Anyway, at some point, sequels became a major way to cash in on a movie. The sequels themselves not only make money, but they remind people to buy the first movie on video (more cash).

Oooohhhhhhh, I had no idea that was why all my favorite Marvel cartoons went off the air. And here I thought Spiderman went off the air because Marvel was a bunch of jerks who wanted you to buy an ancient issue of the comic just to find out what happened to Mary Jane. All this time, they simply ran out of money.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel What I really want is a Ghost Rider movie. I'd definately go see that.
:babble: Actually, there's plans out to make a Ghost Rider movie. It was supposed to be released next year and filming should've started already, but the production company and scrrenwriters changed at the last minute and now they have to start all over again. There's gonna be a Ghost Rider movie, but expect it to come out in 2004.

If you got the Dr. Seuss pun in the title, good for you ;) I want to talk about the strange thing going on with pop music these days. I don't know if you noticed, but pop stars are trying to blend their music with hip-hop. It's not so much every pop star is doing it, but when Britney Spears starts getting beats from The Neptunes and the lead singer of N SYNC sings on Nelly's album... I get confused. If I remember correctly, hip-hop was dissing pop with extreme prejudice a year or two ago. I know I couldn't stand Britney for the longest time. Then, the funniest thing happened. The Neptunes, currently hip-hop's most popular music producers, made a song for Britney Spears' new album; "I'm A Slave For You." If that weren't weird enough, The Neptune struck again when they made the music to "girlfriend" by N SYNC, leading rapper Nelly to appear on the song's remix. Then the lead singer of N SYNC made an appearance on Nelly's new album. It's right about now I want to know what everyone thinks. Is hip-hop getting watered down? Is pop music showing growth? Has the world of music finally lightened up and everyone actually respects eachother? Is something else going on? What's your opinion?

Is anyone else shocked with the number of superhero movies coming out these days? I mean, there's Spiderman, Daredevil (coming soon), Incredible Hulk (coming soon). Then there's all the "potentials" out there. As I type this message, somebody out there is planning to make a Catwoman film, A Constantine film, and Greatest American Hero (heaven help us). With all of these superheroes getting their own movies, one question comes to my mind... Where's the Green Lantern?

You're looking at a newly converted "Slayers" fan! I've been watching it weekly on the International Channel for a few months and it's great. I like how Lina Inverse is an incredibly powerful warrior/sorceress, but acts like a total goofyball. Zelgadis and Gourry are kool and Amelia... um... she's Amelia. What do you all think about the series?

I guess my favorite movie would have to be "Midsummer's Eve" aka "Daughter of Darkness" aka "Tenchi The Movie 2." The story is sad, funny, and dramatic all at the same time. It also has one of my favorite Tenchi girls, Kiyone from Tenchi TV. Plus it has my favorite Tenchi weapon, the Light Hawk Sword. The movies always seem to blend elements from both the OVA and TV series. It's what makes them great.

Well, I don't know if this counts, but the topic should just be vague enough to mention comic strips I like to read. I like to read a lot of newspaper comics like Garfield, Baby Blues, Boondocks, Crabby Road, and Dilbert. But just so I don't get yelled at, I'll mention some of my old favorite comic books. X-Men, Superman, Fantastic Four, and X-Factor. I feel a little guilty about not reading them in years...

Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so I won't complain if anyone doesn't like her. I think she's ok. "Complicated" is pretty catchy, but I'm afraid she's not going to go any farther than this unless her next single is 10 times better.

One of my favorite scenes is when Spongebob invades Sandy's dream where she's jumping from an airplane and trying to tell him that he needs a parachute... Sandy: You need a parachute! Spongebob: (holds up a bird You mean this?) Sandy: Not parakeet, parachute! Spongebob: (has a pair of pants) This? Sandy: Not pair of pants! Para... (crashlands on a truck) ...medic.

Batman movies just aren't worth seeing unless they're directed by Tim Burton (Batman, Batman Returns)

Now Playing: "If You Think You're Lonely Now" by Jodeci Next Track: "I Call Your Name" by Debarge Hmm... I never noticed how many old songs I listen to.

Is it just me, or does Yugi act just like Yuzuha and Mayuka?

*whew!* When I wrote this thread, I was afraid Keanu Reeves actually had fans on this board (ha!). Anyway, it would be funny if the actors had no idea what The Matrix was about, even while they were filming it. That'd probably be why no one's saying anything about the sequels. ;) I always have wondered why the guy who played Bill in "Bill & Ted" never got as famous as Keanu. It's not like Reeves was a better actor. I guess he really did just luck out.

Who else here was confused by the title of the first Tenchi movie? The title is "Tenchi Muyo! in Love" and I automatically thought Tenchi fell in love with someone (judging by the title). But the way I see it, shouldn't the name of the movie just be "Love"? (Yeah, I know this is a horrible thread, but nothing ever happens in this forum. At least give me points for trying.)

Now, I'm not going to bad-mouth the guy or spread ugly rumors, but Keanu Reeves' acting isn't exactly spectacular. In fact, it's pretty bad. It's not bad enough to distract you from the plot or anything, but ask any veteran actor and they'll tell you that he could be better. Right about now, some of you are probably thinking back to his performance in The Matrix. Now, I'll admit by the time he made The Matrix, his acting ability had improved, but I want you to think back on some of his other movies. What did he look like? You might notice that he always has a look on his face like he's either in awe, confused, or both. I'm serious, watch "Speed." He was actually perfect for the part of Neo in "The Matrix" because throughout the movie, Neo was in awe and confused. Now, before I get yelled at, I just want to say that I liked Speed and The Matrix and I can't wait for the next two Matrix movies. He isn't a terrible actor, he's just kinda bad. It's his lack of facial expression and vocal tones. His movies are good and I respect him for getting his. It's just that he should be so much better by now. ...or... maybe I just associate him with "Ted" too much.
Originally posted by Justin No, it has a point. It's a point I don't agree with, but it does have a point. I think complaining about tokenism is pretty useless. I try not to pick apart movies and things for stuff like that, unless it's just obvious and blatant. It really cuts down on the enjoyment if you pick things apart, and enjoyment is what I pay for. Not a chance to belly-ache. -Justin
Personally, I was complaining about obvious tokenism, not the subtle ones you only notice when someone tells you about it. Tokenism bothers me and I wish it would stop, but I know it's not going anywhere. It's like Keanu Reeves' acting; it's pretty bad, but I still liked the movies.

Consider this scenario... It's said that the power of the dragon cannot exceed the power of its creator. So, that means the dragon can't do anything the creator can't do, right? So, Vegeta and Freeza went up to Namek to fetch a bunch of dragon balls. Let's say one of them (maybe Vegeta) wished for immortality. Could the dragon have granted that wish? I mean, Saichiro/Guru created the dragon and he died. If the dragon actually had the power to make Vegeta immortal, wouldn't that mean Guru would have that same power? Wouldn't that mean Guru shouldn't have died? While I'm on the subject, how come Shenlong could transport a planet full of unsuspecting Namekians to Earth, but he couldn't get rid of Vegeta and Nappa on their first trip to Earth? The mind boggles.

Half the death scenes in Deep Blue Sea were funny, I'll admit that. Anyway, the whole "token black guy" thing has been pointed out by Not Another Teen Movie and (sorta) by Scary Movie. I don't like tokenism because it says "hey look! I'm barely acknowledging your group's existance by adding a single character who will remain one-dimensional until they either die or the movie ends." It's actually kinda degrading and in no way parallel to the real world. People have been getting away with it for years. Watch any random American cartoon (that stars humans) and you'll find a token character for a certain race or gender. Anyway, nobody likes tokenism. For anybody out there that likes to draw and write their own stories, don't give in to tokenism. It's not tokenism when there's two or three black (or any other) people. Either you can add more than one, or develope the character really well, or just don't add that character at all.
