Are there any fans of IAMX around? It was started by a member of the Sneaker Pimps and if you are into that sound they are pretty good. Their style and presentation are a notch above most bands and they have few but memorable videos. President Video

October is such a wonderful month; it's when the cool air is just starting to flow and pumpkin spice fills the air. I really can't wait for Halloween, it's my favorite time of the year!

My roomies and i will be having our annual Halloween Party, we already have a giant spider and ghost along with a giant web in the living room. A cauldron full of candy and spiders also hanging from the ceiling are also all set up. I can't wait to go to the Spirit store, i want some ragged cloth for the windows and some to wrap around the floor lamp. I love Halloween but I also can't wait for All Saints and All Souls Day that come right after. Every Day of the Dead I put out candles to light the way for my family to find their way home.
Well this picture is about a year old but I don't really have anything more recent (it's one of the better pictures of me too). No texting @ dinner! Parenting digital kids
vegeta rocker replied to Rachmaninoff's topic in General Discussion
Thats one thing that really does tick me off about the digital age, people feel the retarded need to update everything and make sure everyone know what they are doing right then. Once I looked through a friends text messages, since this was before I had a texting capable phone a few years back, and all I saw was crap. My friend was going on about how handy it was for getting a quick reply from someone. But all I saw was Whats up LOL Poke Meow and a bunch of other tag you're it crap. I live texting a bunch now, but I have way more efficient usage. Just wait, there will be a generation with massive arthritis when this whole thing is done. lol -
OMG thats really adorable, I was thinking how dumb the whole thing was until the "real Buzz" said that he briefed Buzz Lightyear beforehand. It's all fun and games until we realize Lightyear brought a deadly parasitic being from space.

I can be bad about it at work when its a project I don't want to do. I have a shelf of projects that need to be worked on and have a deadline date typed at the bottom. I will bypass ones that are complex and try and get all the easy stuff done. Of course what happens is all the complex stuff has to get worked on at once thus making it twice as hard as it would have been in the first place. Also I blame Farmville for alot of this as well.

I thought getting a Bachelors Degree would open up more doors for me than an Associates Degree. I also thought when you met that special person you would stay with them forever. Seriously. My mentality was why would you meet them only to lose them. I thought, like all little girls, that I was special.

There is one major factor that you guys haven't mentioned and that is the fact that the girl he actually raped wants this to go away. Her saying she wants the case dropped is probably why people are seeing it as being alright to be in his corner. If she was still adamant about the charges I don't think so much of Hollywood would be so inclined to be in his favor. As for France retracting their support of Polanski they haven't. They were pretty ticked off when Switzerland extradited him. Especially since he has a home there and has spent plenty of time in Switzerland without hassle. Thats a mark of the times; Switzerland has been coming to the realization that it can't stay neutral anymore. The Swiss have taken pride in their neutrality for quite some time, and they credit this same position in the world as to why they were left alone in WWII. But they have slowly been cooperating more and more with foreign countries over legal matters. The cliche Swiss bank account for Tax Evasion and so forth no longer holds true since they received so much pressure from America and have since been releasing documentation that they never would have in the past. A large majority of the Swiss believe that extraditing Polanski was a political move to show the US that they were willing to play ball and cooperate in future legal matters. A lot of citizens were complaining that they were "ashamed to be Swiss", and that in itself is reprehensible. For someone to be ashamed of their citizenship because a convicted rapist was extradited? Thats more than just ridiculous, it's borderline lunacy. Roman Polanski is guilty of a crime; but until his victim actually steps up and asks for justice the legal system and Hollywood will continue to drag their feet.

Some things to think about: -How old were you five years ago? -What was your daily life like? I was 19 and still in Art College (Media), lots of homework and anime. Also met the love of my life. -Would you give a warning, or an encouragement? -Would it be about your life then, or your life now? Probably a bit of both, I would have said enjoy him while you can. Because guess what you are going to lose him and your Dad in the same month and you will get through it. Hard as it will be, 20 pounds lighter you will see the end of the tunnel. Also with the next guy, break up with him in two weeks....TRUST ME IN THIS. -Would your younger self take you seriously? (What kind of test might you employ to prove your identity?) I would ask myself if cutting ever solved anything, not many people would have known that about me back then.

Well as long as most banks are informed about the theft they usually reimburse the card holder. That sure does bite though, I know someone who had their card number stolen at a Sonic.

I'm going to have to go with Oasis's song Champagne Supernova. The first half of the song is beautiful still but now when i hear the rest I am convinced something is wrong with my L and R channels on my speakers. That is really about it, embarrassingly enough the bad music I liked back in the day I pretty much still like today.

Beijing 2008 Olympics (Should China Play Host?)
vegeta rocker replied to vegeta rocker's topic in General Discussion
By allowing China to host the games it's forcing another layer of transparency on them around the world. It's also letting their citizens see what it can be like to be part of something better than what they currently have.
They have seen what it would be like to have something better, those that have are now political prisoners. -
Beijing 2008 Olympics (Should China Play Host?)
vegeta rocker replied to vegeta rocker's topic in General Discussion
I get tired of that mentality of searching for a reason to be upset.
You don't have to SEARCH for a reason to be upset...I mean China has deported it's own people who have been protesting the Olympics since 07. I am by no means saying my country is perfect (I'm American) but if your own country is protesting it than thats really pretty sad. Stephen Spielberg also pulled his support because of China's involvement with the Genocide in Darfur. Protesters even hung a large banner protesting the Olympics on the Great Wall of China; of course they were quickly and quietly deported. -
I for one really cannot believe that China is allowed to host the Olympics. They continue to cruelly occupy Tibet, and try to show a false face of perfection to the world. This is seen with having a 7 yr old girl with a crooked smile and pig tails sing for the opening ceremony than having her song lip synced by a slender 9 yr old in a shimmering red dress for the actual event. A country known for censorship, and numerous political imprisonments gets to host an international ceremony built on showcasing humanity's great athleticism? The protesters they don't deport get imprisoned. Am I alone here in feeling this way? I mean I know there are thousands that feel this way but I mean here on Ob, does anyone else feel this way as well?

http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2008/07/23/2008-07-23_pregnant_man_thomas_beatie_unveils_first.html While I'm sure you guys have already hard this story in some capacity over the past few months; i was curious what your opinions were. I honestly have no problem with gay men and women adopting children. I mean I think as long as a child has a happy home than I don't think it matters. But this is a woman who had surgery and then took lots of hormones/drugs to become a man than have a baby. And her female partner is going to breastfeed the bay. I just can't help but feel this as an abomination of nature...I don't mean to be harsh but thats how i feel. I feel bad because I like to think of myself as a tolerant person...so my reaction kind of bothers me. So how about you guys? Happy for them?

All Beauty will fade, the mind will also decay. But if i had my choice, I would choose to be smart. Better to know people hang out with you for your mind, not your face.

Sorry my custom title confused anyone; I just think its kind of funny. I honestly sign in sometimes and think I am banned for real. LOL As for his case, we are going to wait a bit for results to come back, it just seems so odd. On thursday he was doing ok, was coherent and everything. Then when they started giving him steroids he didn't know who he was. I thank everyone who was posted something, especially Starwind. I hope you are right and that it doesn't happen so much to me all meaning is lost.

A good friend of mine died recently and I am at a loss; i never really realized how fragile a human life is. Last Saturday he had a headache, Monday he had some light chest pains, Tuesday he threw up, Wednesday he was pale and was admitted to the hospital and Saturday at around 2am he was dead. He was only 20 years old and would have been 21 in November, his girlfriend and I are good friends and we were all planning on moving in together in August. They have no idea what it was, he was given a bone marrow biopsy on Wed. when he was admitted and the results were supposed to be back within 24 hrs but weren't. The hospital will be performing an autopsy since they say they suspect foul play, the results should be back but aren't. Something isn't right and we all think the hospital botched the job. They say they suspect foul play because something isn't right. They were giving him steroids and insulin, but didn't even have an idea what was wrong with him. His mother will likely be seeking legal counsel, what do you guys think? Have you ever lost someone suddenly? Do you think the hospital might be responsible? I keep expecting him to walk in the door...
Well this won't be every movie I've watched this year, but I will list one that so far is one of the most memorable. Newsies: It's a musical that is loosely based on the true story of the New York newspaper boy strike of 1899. Basically the story is about the newspaper publishers who seek an increase in profits, they decide to increase their profits by charging more to the kids who sell their papers. Instead of paying the increase, they start a strike. The songs are lively and quick to catch on, they really suit the movie well and the rest of the music for the film is good as well. It's got it's flaws, one being that it utterly flopped when it was first released back in 1992, but it's definitely worth seeing once. I'll probably end up getting a copy of the music to this at the very least. XP
i absolutely love that musical! I saw it when i was a kid on the disney channel, i have to go find it now and watch it!

Hopefully the sequel (not sure if I will see it or not) will employ traditional cinematography. I mean I understand this film was made for the Youtube generation, but i just hope endless clones don't follow it.
My handycam can easily last two hours filming nonstop, which is shorter than this movie.
Yeah, but the time in the film is way longer than that. Dawn was breaking at the end of the film.

I'm just going to list movies i have seen for the first time this year since i do watch quite a few. Cloverfield - BLEH The Orphanage - Awesome both storytelling wise and visual look. Diary of the Dead - Not as good as I was hoping but i still it enjoyed it very much, did a great job with what would happen first in a case of zombies. Atonement - Honestly not as good as I was hoping, can't help but just feel like some lives are just RUINED from the get go. Away from Her - Sad and heart wrenching like Atonement, but with makes up for it with a glimmer of hope and love. Hitman - Random boobs, lots of guns and a no plot. Sunshine - Looks gorgeous, no plot Memoirs of a Geisha - Not nearly as good as I was hoping, costumes were cheap and the movie wasnt very authentic at all. There Will Be Blood - Intense, and strongly written. The soundtrack will change film, i know that as a fact. Juno - Sweet, dramatic and honest easily the most fun I have had at a movie in a long time. Deliver us from Evil - A documentary about the Church turning a blind eye to the molestation of countless children. Took me two sittings to finish it, it was hard. The Devil Wears Prada - typically not my type of movie, but it was surprisingly good. Flannel Pajamas - An honest look at a lovely relationship that shows true love and the forces that press against it. The best movie about relationships I have ever seen. 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days - A film about an illegal abortion in communist Romania. Man, this is not for the squeamish.

Reasons why Cloverfield sucked: 1. I didn't care about any of the characters except for Marlena; just because it's supposed to be realistic from the point of how it would look shot from a handheld camera doesn't mean they can't act. 2. Plot: I'm gonna go save the girl I slept with once and was about to leave...... 3. The whole justification of shooting every single thing including the floor... If it was realistic he would have held it lower than his head so at least he can still have his peripheral vision intact. And apparently his handy cam has an eternal battery, he plugs in like once. 4. Was NOT impressed with the monsters design. I'm not looking forward to the sequel, and YES there will be one.
