Wow, it has been... a very long time. Des was a moderator when I joined, so in my teenage excitement that automatically meant he was super cool and awesome; I later came to know this was a completely accurate description of him. He was always honorable, funny, charming, and immensely knowledgeable and encouraging. For the few times I did get to speak with him directly, he was nothing but kind and well-spoken. I always admired him, and I still do. It's such a shame that he's gone. I can only hope, and try, to enjoy life and know my passions as deeply as he did.

Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
Solo Tremaine replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
It makes sense to me that Minato would hide himself until the later stages of the Kyuubi's release, as that's when it's more likely to be gaining control over Naruto than the other way round, and likely when he'll most need help not to succumb to its powers (a la what we almost saw). He probably knew the Demon Fox's power would help him in his struggles early on, when Naruto could still manipulate it to his will, or at least when there are other people (like Jiraiya and Yamato) who can deal with it. So yeah. And not learning of his hertiage before he could handle it is probably a good thing, too; imagine if Naruto had known from the start that he was the son of the most powerful Hokage so far, and that he housed the most powerful demon monster in the world within his body... methinks arrogance and destruction would reign supreme. Would make for a great retelling of the story, though ^__^ -
I'm glad I skipped most of the Bount arc of the anime. They made Ishida really annoying. The manga gives him a much better portrayal.

Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
Solo Tremaine replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
Spoilers for this week.
Naruto reaches eight tails of release before being stopped from taking down the final seal (that is the one actually on the cage within his mind) by the Yondaime. Apparently the two have a chat and Naruto finally learns about his true parentage.

I just saw those too ^_______^ For all the rest of the shaky bits around this arc, I'm looking forward to this bit. Methinks Kishi is having difficulty dividing his focus between secondary established characters and the more exciting main story. When it wasn't about Sasuke at least, the continuous stories are pretty decent. -
He needs to start wearing some type of chest protector or something since he can't block attacks coming to the chest area.
That's normally what his Hollow mask does.
No points for guessing where this is going.
*waves hands around* Ooh, pick me, I want no points!
DOES WE MEANS ICHIGO GOES FULL HOLLOW LOLOLOL???!?!?11

Anyway, Sai found Kabuto and Yamato has to rush back to Konoha and cut off some demon tails.
Fix'd. Additionally... Is anyone else sensing a facepalm moment for this ridiculously banal display of maths skills? Wow, but those ninja are talented to know that six is greater than four. Bad, bad writings. -
I have just one thing to add to this since people are forever mistaking my dog for poodle... Seriously... She's a BICHON. Get it right! Poodles are hyperactive little pain in the butt yip dogs!
Toy and Miniature Poodles are, anyway. Standard Poodles are gorgeous. I have two of those and they're anything but small, hyperactive, annoying and yappy. They're huge, for one thing o_o; -
I didn't actually listen to the Japanese cast, so I can't really have an opinion. I guess for a different series the director wanted a different sound for the voices, or the rest are all tied up in other things.

Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
Solo Tremaine replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
Or not, seeing as he panicked and is pegging it back to Konoha. I don't think he'll get a chance to explain anything for another forty chapters while Naruto and Pein begin their journey into the shipper's minds as another approachable couple. Unless, of course, Yamato graces us with something we already know, like 'I've been tracking Kabuto!', which will be repeated ad infinitum until his mouth drops off. My bad for the wrong spoiler, by the way. Zetsu is still as elusive as ever, it seems. I'm interested to know who will actually end up killing Pein. Will Naruto destroy Yahiko's body first, or will the others find Nagato, or would something else vaguely interesting happen like both being done in at once? -
Well, they did say they'd 'prepare' for the war against Aizen. Whatever that entailed o_o; Latest spoilers:
Ichigo gets it through the chest by Ulquorria just as Orihime reaches the top of the dome
.

Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
Solo Tremaine replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
Depends. It can be saved. To me, the only way out would be to have her fall into a coma; not dead but incapacitated, that Naruto can still feel guilty but we don't necessarily have to have the romance element. Or, once naruto's finished (presumably) slaying Pein, then she'll have a touching death scene. -
Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
Solo Tremaine replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
According to latest spoilers,
Hinata is still alive, barely, and Zetsu turns up belatedly, to give Pein a hand. Sakura and Neji chat, as do Yamato and Anko. The chapter ends with Pein trying to perform a seal of some sort.
So that's... I dunno, slightly less bad? -
Those are animated scenes from the third PS2 game. Her name's Sophie Belkman.

Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
Solo Tremaine replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
Of course there's always the possibility it was a mis-translation.
Or drama for the sake of drama. How many other characters have apparently 'died' throughout the story: Chouji and Neji were supposed to have, and Garra actually did but was subsequently resurrected. I know the trend at the moment seems to be for death, death, death for everyone except Arsuke who actually deserves it. And unfortunately it does feel like Fishi's throwing characters into desperate situations arbitrarily as a means of moving the plot along without much thought to their actual development. Certainly it's not
the dramatic revelation of her feelings that she rightly deserves
, but as we've not seen it in context, it's not quite fair to judge it just yet. After all, it could actually be presented with real feeling and a genuine sense of tension. Erm, yeah. -
Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
Solo Tremaine replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
I've seen that picture too, but it doesn't mean anything just yet; people are always screaming for
Hinata to die
. I would be less surprised if it was
Kakashi
. I'll be hoping for neither, myself. EDIT: Although actually, that translation does look scarily accurate. And given Fishi's recent track record you never know when he could throw another piece of crap at the loyal audience. I just had visions of this sequence: Pein: *rips off face* Naruto: OMG IT'S MINATO Pein: Not really, hahaha. *rips off face again* Naruto: OMG IT'S OROCHIMARU Pein: Not really, hahaha. *rips off face yet again* Naruto: OMG IT'S BOB DOLE. Pein: BOB DOLE! And so on. Confirmed spoiler. -

People were saying that about the last chapter too. -
Anyway, even though I'm one of the two people in the universe that preferred the original anime over the manga, I'm still looking forward to this. Maybe it'll hold my attention better than the manga itself did.
I've not read the manga; I only looked up the plot differences. I love the anime to pieces though ^____^ I rewatch it regularly, hehe.

I actually much prefer the orchestral score to the English dub than the Japanese. Shuki Levy and Udi harpaz are incredible. It's actually one of my favourite soundtracks ever, and it was never released. I'm still upset about that. The movies are well worth watching in Japanese though, so you see what you missed out on in the rather poor English re-edit. Well, ignore the fourth and fifth ones, because they're a bit crap, but one, two, three, five (don't know about the Frontier ones) and X-Evolution are all very enjoyable ^___^

Yeah, I was wondering what they were goign to do about the first section that already does follow the manga, more or less. Hmm... But I'm looking forward to seeing
Armstrong's sister too, hehe.
You know, because she's a good example of a strong female character, and you don't see many of those nowadays. Ahem.

Aah, fantastic ^____^ I guess the most obvious question first: [strike]Is it actually a sequel, given
that Ed is using Alchemy, Roy has no eyepatch, Al has no body and Hughes was featured
?[/strike] Ah, never mind. I gather it's a full adaptation of the manga rather than a sequel? That's interesting. I can't say I'm not a tiny bit disappointed, but having not read the manga I'm really interested to see how different the story is, hehe ^_^ I'm going to see if I can find a translated version of that trailer now, although I'm betting it probably just says 'New Fullmetal Alchemist series coming in April!', with a tagline. I have to agree that the chasracters look slightly skewed in comparison to the first series. Maybe it's just those clips. I remember some bits of the first series being a bit scrappier than others. Although I hope it's not taken too much of a turn for the fluid, ever-moving style of animation. Music's sounding good, though. Me wonders if Michiru Oshima is still conducting it.
