This is one of the reasons I could never get into collectable card games (not least because they came inot fashion here when I was 15). I'd never want to take them out in public, and that kind of defeats the object of duelling people. It was Pokemon back then, and there was all sorts of trouble. I bet some of the ones you see on eBay are stolen. I really hate it when people do that. I've only ever had one thing stolen from me and that made me so angry at anyone trying to do it. But remember, violence, although maybe protecting you from it happening again soon, isn't a good long-term strategy, and it makes revenge more likely. Or at least, it can. Mind you, I can't think of much else you can do. I hope you all sort things out.

MetalArmadillomon froze. "Is that...?" A huge fox-creature burst from the bushes and leapt towards MetalArmadillomon. he rolled free, pushing Aidan out of the way of the massive digimon. Gururumon jumped in the way of the intruder, forcing her to stop. She knocked him aside and turned back to MetalArmadillomon, who was growling fiercely. Aidan picked up a large stick and brandished it at the digimon, who laughed. "A stick? What kind of weapon's that?" Aidan gritted his teeth. "A weapon still." He hurled the stick straight at Silleniimon's face, catching one of her eyes. "Go, MetalArmadillomon!" he yelled as she howled in pain. MetalArmadillomon unfurled his spikes and thundered forwards, crashing straight into Silleniimon's chest. She hit the gound hard, narrowly missing squashing Rokas. Gururumon jumped onto her chest and growled in her face. Aidan and MetalArmadillomon stood next to her angrily. The steel digimon extended his claws and drew them back, ready to plunge them inot her side. Gururumon clamped a claw about her neck. "Looks like this is it for you unless you can give us an explanation of what's going on here." Rokas threatened. "Let me explain..." Silleniimon choked, Gururumon's paw digging into her windpipe. "Gururumon, not so hard. Who sent you?" Aidan asked firmly. Suddenly, a voice from the bushes stopped them. "Stop! Don't hurt her!"

Nope. Not quite. And it wasn't Elton John. Interesting thought, though...

Number 1's right. 3's half right. Choose one of those figures. this is excluding movie 5, by the way. I only had Pokemon red for a few months, so I don't know lots of technical stuff about the 'mon. D_A: If it's morning you're talking about then I guess it's either Gold or Silver, but I haven't a clue as to the other bits.

Aidan looked over the edge of the cliff as Allomon disappeared into the river below. He landed with a colossal splash. "I hope we don't run into anything else before dawn. I'm really tired." Rokas yawned, pulling Aidan back from the edge. "Yeah, me too. Should we head back?" "Yeah. we could all do with some sleep." Aidan answered, looking at his watch. It wasn't working. MetalArmadillomon was admiring Gururumon's new form. "Wow! That was amazing, Gururumon! Nice attacks, too." Gururumon blushed. "Aw. It was nothing." Aidan looked at his digivice thoughtfully. "What happened, anyway?" Gururumon turned round proudly. "I digivolved!" "What?" Rokas asked, tapping his digivice. It had stopped glowing. "He digivolved. Basically, you advance to the next level of...erm... Digimon. You get stronger and more powerful." MetalArmadillomon filled in, looking a little tired. "I'm a Champion now." Rokas was beaming. "So why did you digivolve then?" "It was you, Rokas. If I hadn't been in trouble and if you hadn't wanted to save me, it wouldn't have worked." "Wow! I have the power!" Rokas smirked, striking a pose. "Anyway..." Aidan began, exchanging amused glances with MetalArmadillomon. "We'd better get back to our camp. If we can, we should light a fire to dry ourselves off." They'd forgotten about the rain in all the excitement. Rokas looked at Gururumon. "Hey, he won't fit in his bed any more." "It's not a permanent thing, is it?" Aidan asked. MetalArmadillomon shook his head. "Not usually. It might take a while for him to return to normal." Gururumon snorted. "I guess that means I'm getting wet, then." They started making their way towards their camp. Aidan looked at MetalArmadillomon. "So digivolving makes you stronger. Do you think that's got something to do with us being here?" MetalArmadillomon wpied some water from his nose. "I think so. As soon as we find the others I guess we'll find out."

Can Dictators Rise Again in Europe?
Solo Tremaine replied to Ya)\/(I-YuGI's topic in General Discussion
Sorry, Lalaith, I completely misread that. :o Duh me. Think of it as elaborating on your point.:whoops: The Bolsheviks took over in 1917 and then killed the Czar's family the next year, I think. I haven't studied this for two years, so I'm a little rusty. I don't like the way Blair's handling things either. His 'quick-fix- policies with everything really annoy me. And I'm worried that it's going to lead to another war. Not least because I'm sitting in my study on the South Coast of England right now. Bush wouldn't exactly be my first choice of President, either. This whole war on Iraq was a bit pre-emptive (sp?). Yeah, by all means suppress terrorist groups, but getting rid of Saddam's only going to make things worse, if it hasn't already. Because if anything, there'll be someone else just as bad waiting to take his place. -
Can Dictators Rise Again in Europe?
Solo Tremaine replied to Ya)\/(I-YuGI's topic in General Discussion
I don't think it'd happen so much in Western Europe. but all you need to look at is Eastern Europe and you've got hundreds of potential dictators. I wouldn't say Russia was run 'beautifully'- the last Czar (Nicholas II) was incompetant and too easily influenced by his aides. Rasputin was the most famous case- he 'enchanted' them by supposedly curing his son's haemophilia, and became a really powerful influence over him. The people didn't like him because he was too distant from them and more or less told them what they wanted. Not that good. People are so much more aware of these things now. They have so much more power to stop potential Nazis from coming into Government. About 100 years ago, everything was very much based on the aristocracy and money. You were born into government, you weren't elected. And even in the 30's when Hitler came to power things were so bad they couldn't see how manipulative he was. But he did bring Germany back economically and militarily. It was the French and British policies of appeasement that let him get too far. -
OOC: Is this okay, rokas? ----------------------------------------------------------------- "What was that?" MetalArmadillomon shuddered slightly underneath a cover of palm leaves. A muffled voice came from another heap of leaves. "Don't worry about it. It's probably just thunder." "It was very close," came another muffled voice. Rokas was playing his guitar quietly. It helped him relax. He'd heard it too, but when he looked outside all he'd seen was a weird-looking tree some metres away. "Do you think we should check anyway?" Gabumon asked, peering out through two leaves. Aidan sat up, his hair flopping all over his face. "Not a bad idea, that. I'll go." MetalArmadillomon rolled out of his makeshift bed and hit the wet floor. "Eurgh... Aidan, I'll come too. Aidan? What's up?" Aidan was standing perfectly still in the middle of the four beds. On the other side of them were two large blue feet. "Rokas!" he hissed. "Stay exactly where you are." Rokas jolted in shock. Very carefully, he manoeuvred himself so he could see outside. It was the Allomon. Its teeth glinted dangerously in the dim light. He looked to Gabumon, who looked fraught with worry. Allomon lowered it head down to below the treetops and looked directly at Aidan, who stepped back. MetalArmadillomon raised his spines, ready for battle. Suddenly, a blue ray shot out from the darkness and hit Allomon squarely in the eye. He roared in pain and stumbled back. Aidan and MetalArmadillomon ran in the direction of the shot and looked around. Where were they? Suddenly, he heard Allomon's gigantic footsteps pounding through the trees. He was chasing after Rokas and his digimon. "No!" Aidan yelled. He didn't want them to get hurt for his sake. "After them, MetalArmadillomon!" MetalArmadillomon curled into a ball and rolled after them, Aidan following behind. Rokas looked over his shoulder. "Gabumon! We're in trouble!" Suddenly, he hit something in front of him. Gabumon had stopped dead in his tracks. A huge cliff-face lay below them. Gabumon turned round and leapt at Allomon's throat, digging his claws into his thick, scaley neck. Allomon roared in frustration and tried to claw him off. Rokas swung wildly at the tyrranosaur's legs with a branch, but got kicked away. MetalArmadillomon appeared and jumped onto Allomon's back. Aidan tore past and helped up Rokas, who couldn't take his eyes off Gabumon. "Go, Gabumon! You can do it!" he yelled. MetalArmadillomon flew from his back and into a tree, which split in half. Something bleeped in Aidan's pocket. He pulled out a red, silver and blue watch-type device. Rokas felt one in his pocket too. they dived for cover as Gabumon flew over their heads and into the branches of a tree.
ALLOMON: Data Type Attacks: Dino Burst/Dynamite Head A carnivorous armour digimon who is prone to ferocious, unprovoked attacks.
"As if we didn't know!" Rokas grunted, trying to see Gabumon in the tree. Allomon found him first. He grabbed Gabumon with his claws and squeezed hard, starting to crush him. He couldn't breathe. Clawing in vain at Allomon's tough skin, everything started to go black. "NO!" Rokas screamed, as a high-pitched whirring noise pierced the air. A shaft of light shone from Rokas?s digivice as Gabumon began to grow in size. "Gabumon, digivolve to- Garurumon!"

I have a few, if no-one minds me asking them. 1.Which is the 123rd Pokemon listed in the Pokedex? 2. In the first movie, who sung the theme song? 3. How many legendary Pokemon have been featured in movies (including ones not yet released in the US)? There we are.
Originally posted by shadowdramon I hope to see Treasure Planet. The animation looks superb but from what I heard about Atlantis, this might not end up being so good. Also, why is it that everythin American is considered "anime-inspired" if it has complex background art and action for an older audience?
I don't think Spawn was anime-inspired. Nor Batman or Superman. But they aren't Disney. They're two different styles which bounce off each other- some anime is quite Wersternised and some American animations are quite similar to anime. I've not seen or heard anything about Treasure Planet. But usually when US things are inspired by anime, they're pretty bad. Totally Spies, anyone? I didn't like the animation in Hercules, Pocahontas, and Mulan to some extent. Mushu was really over the top in a bad way. If he'd been more like Donket in Shrek then it would've been okay. I love the song, though- "We are men..." Great stuff.

"We're not lost!" Aidan protested, climbing over a large trunk. Gabumon sniffed the air, trying to see if he could get a hint of something on the air. "I think I smell water." Rokas walked up next to him and sniffed. He couldn't smell anything. "You sure?" "My nose doesn't let me down very often. It's a nice, clean smell." He pointed through the trees. "This way." MetalArmadillomon looked to Aidan, who shrugged. "Should we go?" Aidan nodded. "Yeah. Water's a good thing. We could follow the river to a settlement, if there are any." They caught up to Rokas and Gabumon, who weren't saying very much to each other. Aidan scratched his chin. "You guys okay?" They nodded. "Just as long as I've got my guitar." Rokas said cheerfully. Gabumon pulled his fur coat further over his shoulders. "I'll be okay once I've had a drink. My mouth's so dry I could light fires in it." Aidan smiled at MetalArmadillomon, who looked slightly downcast. "What's up?" "Oh... nothing." he gave Aidan a weak smile. He wasn't impressed. "Is something wrong?" "Not really. I'm just tired, that's all." MetalArmadillomon said, crawling under a fallen tree. Through the trees ahead, Rokas and Gabumon saw the river. Laughing excitedly, Gabumon ran forwards, his mouth screaming for water. Rokas followed after him. "Slow down, Gabumon! There might be things there!" Aidan and MetalArmadillomon chased after them and stopped suddenly as soon as they emergerd through the trees. Rokas and Gabumon froze too. By the water's edge on the opposite bank, was a massive Allomon. They dived back into the trees and peered out at it fearfully. "It could be friendly..." Rokas thought out loud. Aidan nodded. "Yeah, but even if it is friendly it could still squash us." "We could go out and ask it..." MetalArmadillomon suggested. The Allomon cast a beady eye in their direction. They froze. As soon as it looked away again, they sighed with relief and stepped back a bit. Rokas watched the monstrous digimon carefully. "Maybe we could go further upstream?" Aidan pulled at his bandanna. "Good idea." Slowly and very quietly, they went downstream. The Allomon cast them a dangerous glare and stopped drinking. Licking its lips, it disappeared into the trees...

Which new film is that? Atlantis was supposed to be more like anime, but it didn't work very well. Lilo and Stitch was good. I liked it muchly. But I was with a friend who thinks the world of Disney, so I don't know how much of it I just liked on his behalf. I think he's one of the best-designed characters. And he looks vaguely like me. My friend and I always argue about which is better- The Lion King or Beauty and the Beast. I don't know- he says hands down it's the Lion King. I'm being as nice as I can do Disney. I can't say I like it that much. The Toy Story movies were absolutely amazing. TS2 was better, I think. I like Bullseye. I'm guessing those bad movies include Max Keeble's Big Move, which sounds absolutely dungheap, and Rookie of the Year.

Bruce Wayne! *dies* *comes back to life* That's amazing! I can't wait for the beginning of Season 2. It was just cruel leaving it on the cliffhanger. That's the only time I've truely screamed at the TV.

"What about the others? Don't you think we should find them first?" MetalArmadillomon asked, clicking his claws. Aidan leaned against a tree. Everything had happened so fast. It was like he'd just stepped into a computer game. "Do we even know they're here yet?" Rokas asked, looking at his jeans in disgust. Gabumon hid a smirk. "If we wait too long then the reason why we came here might not matter any more. The sooner we can get there, the less chance there is of anything happening to anyone." Rokas scraped more tar from his jeans. "We don't even know where or what 'crimson pyramid' is yet, apart from the fact that it's evil." Gabumon scratched his head thoughtfully. "I don't like it. I've heard terrible things about that place. It's not somewhere you can just barge into." Rokas inspected his guitar for tar. Seeing it clean, he sighed with relief. Aidan closed his eyes to try and make a decision. He couldn't think straight. Why did they seem to be waiting for him to make a decision? 'Well, if I'm going to lead them, he thought, 'I'd better do it well.' "Okay..." he began, swallowing hard. "If the pyramid is where we're meant to go, then we'll go there. But... if we need to find the others then it might be an idea to do that first. Teamwork's better than going it alone. Right, Rokas?"

OOC: Don't quite understand what you mean, Ginny. Do you want me to edit mine so's it doesn't say we're in the Digital World? ------------------------------------------------------------ Aidan jumped in shock. "Gah! The tree's moving!" MetalArmadillomon whirled round and growled. "That's a digimon- Woodmon! Get back!" Aidan backed away into another tree, trying to find something to hit it with. "What do they want?" "To kill us!" the digimon shouted, slashing the Woodmon's trunk. It collapsed backwards and disappeared. Suddenly, a vice-like grip tightened around Aidan's waist. An evil laugh boomed in his ears. Another Woodmon had appeared right behind him. He cried out in shock and tried to pull himself free. Just as MetalArmadillomon turned to save him, something large, blue and furry leapt out from the bushes, roaring furiosuly. Gabumon swiped an arm from the Woodmon, letting Aidan free. He stared in disbelief at the new digimon. From the bushes, Rokas appeared. "Come on, Gabumon. Let's give them a hand!" Mocking laughter echoed around the forest. More Woodmon sprang up, encircling them menacingly. Not waiting to find out what was going to happen, the two digimon leapt at their opposers and started attacking them furiously. "Blue Blaster!" Gabumon yelled, knocking out two Woodmon. "Blade Strike!" MetalArmadillomon shouted, hurtling into another. More began advancing on them. Rokas pointed to one to one lying dazed on the floor. "Grab his arm!" he shouted to Aidan. They took an arm each and threw the confused digimon straight into a group of advancing Woodmon, knocking them into a confused and disorientated heap of splitting wood. Gabumon, content with his destruction of three digimon, picked up an immobilised MetalArmadillomon, whose spines had stuck him into the ground. Before their attackers could recover, the four of them sprinted away into the trees. Behind them, the Chief Woodmon silenced the others. "Let them get away," he hissed. "They'll soon discover what else is hiding in this forest..."

Smallville's an amazing series. I love it. But Gah! I've got to wait until January for it to be broadcast again here. *whimpers* The actors are all really good and I love the way the characters are written. Each episode always gets me really excited, even though they're more or less isolated storylines each time. A story arc or two might have been nice. But I'll forgive them this time, coz it's so great.

Aidan landed in some bushes with a thud. Upside down, his legs were caught on thorny branches. The thing behind him had disappeared. "Hey!" he called, trying in vain to pull his legs free. Something grabbed his arm. He looked up, and was staring straight into the face of a large metal creature. He froze as it looked back at him. "You look funny upside down." it said, smiling gleefully. "Thanks. Erm... can you get me out of here, please?" "Sure thing, Aidan." he drew his sharp metal claws and hacked away at the branches clinging to Aidan's trousers. He fell to the ground and rolled over. "How do you know my name?" he said, sitting up. "I've been watching you for a while. I'm MetalArmadillomon." "Hi, MetalArmadillomon... Wait a second. Watching me? What for?" MetalArmadillomon sighed. "It's hard to explain. Basically, we need your help." Aidan adjusted his bandanna. "With what? No, wait. First things first." he looked around at his surroundings. Lush, gree trees were everywhere. He seemed to be in a forest. "Where am I?" "The Digital World, my home. I'm a Digimon. That means digital monster." "But... they aren't... you... I mean..." Aidan looked very confused. MetalArmadillomon smiled nervously. "Don't worry about that now. We need to find the others. Then we can explain everything." "Others?" Aidan asked, standing up quickly. "Other kids?" The steel digimon nodded, his spines rattling. "Now where did we say to meet...?" he thought out lout. Aidan glanced behind him. As he did so, from behind a tree, he saw something move...

Ah. Not the series I remember, then. I've never seen that one before ever. I was thinking of the 'Little Pet Shop of Horrors', I think. Very different.

OOC: I was planning to do that too, if that's okay. --------------------------------------- Aidan sighed as rain dripped unrelentlessly down his window. It was early evening, and usually he enjoyed looking at the sunset. Bored, he decided to switch on his TV. Climbing over the bits of junk scattered on the floor in his room, he jabbed the 'on' switch lazily. A blurred picture came up of a sombre-looking newsreader. "...causing widespread damage to communications systems over the entire continent of Europe..." He switched it off, grunting in annoyance. A mirror hung next to his bed and showed his tired reflection. A thin, quite tall seventeen year old boy stared blearily back at him, his long white hair drooping damply over his wet bandanna. "Pfft," he snorted indignantly. "I hate mirrors." He sat on the chair next to his computer desk and looked out of the window again, staring at the clouds. It was a depressing feeling, looking out over Bristol from behind a pane of glass. He wanted to be free. He wanted adventure. He wanted his parents to stop bothering him about his schoolwork. He hadn't told them he'd been bunking for two weeks, sneaking around the city for want of something more interesting to do. "I wonder what the news was all about." he thought out loud, jabbing the 'Power' button on his computer. Suddenly, a huge bright light exploded from the monitor, making him jump from his seat. Shielding his eyes, he tried to work out what had happened. From behind him, his glass window imploded. As he jumped round in fright, something crashed into his back, sending him flying into the strange white ring, which suddenly disappeared without a trace, the rain beating gently on the carpet... A strange tingling sensation ran through his body- he felt sick. All around him, twisting walls of colour swirled around him. Something behind him moved. Turning around to see what it was, he saw the whole world spinning away from him. "What's going on?" he shouted. His voice sounded strangely distorted. From behind him, another distorted voice greeted him. "Hold on! We're almost through!" it whirred. Up ahead, he could see strange trees. Accelerating towards them at break-neck speed, he closed his eyes and hoped for the best...

Pet Shop of Horrors? Was that anime? I remember something along the lines of that, but I was sure it was US animation... I always liked Visionaries. I know two great films that aren't really anime (two of my favourites for years), but could almost be classed as it- The Last Unicorn and The Flight of Dragons. Two great films done by Rankin/Bass (of animated LotR fame) with great music and Christopher Lee, Jeff Bridges, Mia Farrow (LU); and James Earl Jones (FOD). And I don't like Shinzo. Shame it's done by Toei. I don't like Shin Chan, either.
-
Um... you might want to submit a character first. Just an idea. Kairi, why not make the decision based on the character descriptions? Then you can see who, realistically in the RPG, would be able to do it. That way it might make a bit more sense. Either way, it's your decision. Hmm... there're a lot of quiet people, though. Could be interesting- no-one wanting to get involved. I don't mind being or not being the leader. I've never been in an RPG before, so it might be a bad idea.

Ha! Good point! :bluesweat: I guess I should be more specific. Um... I'm going to just wait and see then, methinks. I'm not actually looking for anyone, but it's that feeling of having someone you love loving you back that I want (what anyone wants really), not necessarily the someone that's absolutely drop-dead-gorgeous. Actually, I think being with someone more attractive than yourself could be frightening- always having to live in their prospective shadow and always worrying whether you're going to be good enough. Then that's when their perception of beauty kicks in. Self-perception is almost as important as the perception of other people, so if you're self confident, that isn't a problem, and you'll be able to love almost anyone.
