Like most people have been saying here, it depends how you choose to live your life. A very sefless person would percieve that a right way of living may be to help others while denying yourself, although others around you may say it's wrong because you don't leave enough for yourself- a selfless person doesn't perceive that to be wrong. Someone whose life revolves around them would see the right way of life as doing things to benefit themselves (hence the sniper killing people to gain millions of dollars). Thus, they see what they're doing as right, whereas most of the rest of the world see it as wrong. The social norms and morals today based on rules set out in Biblical times give us a sense of what we should and shouldn't do, hence the concept of right and wrong being generated in the first place. For example- by society's view, it's wrong to steal, so legally, you aren't allowed to do it. There are exceptions to this- cliche concept of stealing a loaf of bread to feed a starving family- you're doing it for a selfless cause. Does this make it wrong? You're stealing, but on the other hand, you're helping someone. Everything you do will have a good and bad consequence, and it's the one that has the most extreme effects that makes it right or wrong to do. Sorry if any of this doesn't make sense. I'm very very tired.

What OtakuBoards member are you? Take the test and find out!

I got Anna four times. I think it's trying to tell me something... But it's hard to choose one thing or the other. In a lot of the questions I found at least three things that I could agree with. Not that it's bad or anything, it might just need a bit more diversification to get better results. -
The original Transformers series did have dozens of bots. I'm not sure it's such a bad thing to have fewer, though. Otherwise things get too disjointed and every episode is just trying to create/introduce a new character. Still, it would have been nice to have seen Scavenger (even though the repaint was produced after the series). I haven't seen Armada, but I didn't like the look of the designs much. Starscream looked okay, but I don't like Optimus, Megatron or Laserbeak. I think the RID designs are better. Another thing that makes me laugh in RID is the guns- Omega Prime has this massive minigun/cannon shoulder set, and the lasers fly out with a little 'tweet'. That's bad FX dubbing, in my opinion. The're about 20 feet tall some of them! Big noises, please! And the Gennai sound-a-like train got annoying sometimes, too. But it's still fun to watch when you're waking up or going to bed. You need to have your brain switched off to enjoy it.

I liked the inclusion of the Predacons Dark Scream and Gas Skunk. But I don't like the storyline. Like Pokemon, you could almost watch them in any order and not get confused- Megatron sends bad guys out, they get blasted by either Optimus, the Autobot Brothers or some character introduced that episode and run away. Every episode. And the characters weren't written very well. I agree with shadow- it ain't a patch on BW, BM or the original, despite the fact that they're better designs of transformers than the 80's lot.

Bakura has the best hair in the world. Except maybe that black-haired girl from Outlaw Star... *fantasises about having anime hair* But anyway, it's all very strange and weird and I bet they just didn' want to think of many different hairstyles. I think Duke Devlin looks more like Mokuba's brother than Kaiba or Bakura. BTW, Alexander, what is that in your avatar?

The 'location' thing is in your user control panel- click on 'Profile' at the top, and then 'Edit Profile'. You can upload your own avatar or ask someone nicely to make one for you- not more than 80x80 somethings large, though. I agree with the Mai/Cecilia thing. Tristan's got exactly the same hair as Pegasus's bulky goon (can't remember the name. Not Croquet). You don't think they're related, do you?

Anime They dared to insult the good name of Yu-Gi-Oh!
Solo Tremaine replied to Bandit Joeykuba's topic in Otaku Central
That's all I have, more or less. ::takes cover as HyperShadow explodes:: I'd check out IGN regularly for game info. But all it said in the mag was: Entitled Yu-Gi-Oh: Falsebound Kingdom, this complex strategy RPG sees you battling for supremacy against your rival in a medieval world. And there was a bit more saying what they think it'll be like if it's any good as Lost Kingdoms- good. It'll be in a similar style to Pokemon TCG on GBA. -
I should draw more often... You could listen to music. Start writing something interesting, like a drama or fantasy series. Try perfecting imitations of people. Sing in Japanese. Or any other language. Act out a scene from one of your favourite movies. Play with toys (I do that!). There are loads of things to do if you really want to find something to do. It just takes a little kick-start in the right direction.

BTW, if anyone's still reading this and is interested, could you let me know? I want to continue but without any feedback it's hard. Any comments at all? I know it's a bit long, but if there's anything that strikes you... get a plaster! Seriously, though, any comments are greatly appreciated. Here's the first part of Chapter 2. ------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 2: A New Mission In a lush, green forest, a boy with thick white hair was taking a leisurely walk. A red bandanna hung loosely around his neck, blowing in the cool gentle breeze. Around his neck he was wearing a sword-shaped pendant, with wolves? heads decorating the hilt. Walking next to him was his digimon- Veedramon, a small blue and white dragon digimon. It was a stunning day. The light shone through the trees and danced on the path, making it look as if it were on fire. The boy smiled at Veedramon and Veedramon smiled back. They came into a clearing where they could see out into an enormous valley. It was stunning- huge fluffy cumulus clouds floated lazily by, and the snow-topped mountains enclosing the valley seemed to glow in the bright sunlight. Veedramon smiled at the boy. ?What do you think?? he asked cheerfully. ?It?s better than I could have ever imagined?? the boy replied, in awe. A wide grin spread over Veedramon?s face. ?I thought you?d like it.? They looked out over the valley again. Suddenly, the sky began turning a dark red. The clouds darkened and spread over the entire sky, giving everything a blood-red colour. The boy looked worriedly to Veedramon, who looked scared. Suddenly, he began pointing madly at something in the distance. ?What?s that? I don?t like this. I think we?d better leave.? The boy didn?t see what he was talking about. A flash of light blinded him. He couldn?t breathe. Something had hit his chest. The boy collapsed to his knees. He looked around for Veedramon, but couldn?t see him anywhere. ?Veedramon!? he called, gasping for breath. ?Where are you?? He felt a second thing slam into his chest. ?Don?t leave me!? he screamed, as everything turned black? Matt slammed his fists down hard on Aidan?s chest. It was like trying to resuscitate a pillow full of cement. But he had to keep trying. Gabumon watched anxiously as he desperately battled to save Aidan?s life. He threw his fists onto his chest again and again, each time feeling for a pulse. Gabumon stepped forwards to put a paw on Matt?s shoulder when Aidan lurched upwards, a horrible gurgling rasp screeching from his mouth. He rolled over onto his front and coughed water up onto the sand. He reared his head back, air wheezing back into his lungs. He threw up a second load of water, which splattered noisily onto the ground. They were on a rocky beach somewhere. Thin grey clouds shrouded the sky. Palm trees swayed in the breeze and the water lapped gently at the sandy beach. Above them was a fairly steep rock face. Gabumon rubbed Aidan?s back to help him. ?Welcome back, Aidan. We thought we?d lost you for a minute there.? He said softly as Aidan threw up a third time. Matt sat wearily down next to him. Aidan coughed and spluttered, painfully ejecting all of the water from his lungs. ?Where?s?Metal?Armadillomon?? he rasped inbetween fits of coughing. Matt pointed over to a group of trees a few metres away. Breathing heavily, Aidan looked over to where Matt pointed. MetalArmadillomon was sitting on his own, looking guilty and forlorn. Aidan tried to pull himself up, but collapsed from weakness. ?Don?t try and move.? Matt stopped him. ?Your wing?s in bad shape.? Aidan rested on his arms. ?What?happened to the?Haven?? he spluttered. Matt shook his head. ?Gone.? He punched the sand. ?I can?t believe they found us. Now we?re all scattered again and we?ve lost our base. It took us years to put Ken?s flying fortress back together?? Gabumon?s head drooped. ?Don?t worry, Matt. We found Sora before. I?m sure we can do it again?? Matt looked doubtful. His sunglasses were cracked and he had seaweed in his hair. He stood up and looked around. ?It looks like we may be here a while. I?ll go see if I can find some firewood.? He said flatly. Gabumon rose to help him, but he shook his head. ?You stay here, Gabumon. You need to protect Aidan.? A look of deep concern shadowed Gabumon?s face. ?Are you sure, matt?? Matt shoved his hand in his pocket and pulled out a revolver. ?I?ll be fine.? Shaking the water from it, he strode off down the beach. Hiroshi Danaki cracked his knuckles in frustration. He?d waited too long for news of the digimon?s capture. The commander had failed. Snorting in disgust, he stood up and walked over to one of the walls. A single blue button, unused in years, lay on the wall. He jabbed it hard. The wall opened up to reveal a huge window overlooking a brightly lit laboratory. Danaki squinted through the light- it was the first he?d seen in weeks. Down below was the creature. In a green cryogenics tube it lay dormant, small tubes pumping information to computers with huge monitor screens. It twitched slightly, prompting a computer to bleep loudly. The researchers jumped and gathered around the computer. Danaki reached for a radio receiver next to the window. ?I don?t want it waking up yet. Make sure it stays sedated. Its intelligent mind may be trying to find a way to free itself.? The scientists immediately ran around the lab, adjusting levers and buttons. Satisfied, Danaki closed the observation window. Darkness filled the room again, and he relaxed slightly. ?Soon? soon I will be able to take my revenge on those despicable digimon.? He hissed to himself. A shrill beep pierced his ears. He threw the receiver to his ear and barked down it. ?What is it?? ?Sir, we can confirm that the digidestined?s base has been destroyed. There is no sign of the escaped digimon.? Danaki smiled evilly. ?Are you sure there?s nothing left?? ?The base has sunk underwater. If there are any survivors, they won?t make it out.? ?Good? Thank you for your report.? He slammed the receiver down, grinning madly. Now the digimon had been destroyed, there was nothing left to stop him carrying out his master plan? Back on the beach, Aidan was sitting next to Gabumon. The wind had picked up slightly and kept catching his wings, pulling him off balance. He thrust his arms out behind him to keep himself upright. ?I don?t mind if you want to follow Matt, Gabumon.? Gabumon sighed. ?He should be okay. But? he?s not been the same since T.K went missing. He started isolating himself from me. I?d have lost him if Sora wasn?t there.? ?So what do you think you should do? Personally, I?d go after him. I think right now he needs to know he?s not on his own.? Gabumon looked deep in thought. ?It reminds me of when we were in that cave while having to defeat the Dark Masters.? ?And besides?? Aidan thought for a moment. Gabumon looked quizzically at him. ?His gun won?t work. It?s waterlogged.? Gabumon stood up and stared down the beach. ?I?m going after him. We?ll be back soon!? He ran off down the beach, his fur coat blowing in the breeze. Aidan looked over to MetalArmadillomon, who was covering his face with his claws. He looked like he needed cheering up. Slowly, he walked towards him and sat down next to him. MetalArmadillomon did nothing. Feeling awkward, Aidan coughed to try and get his attention. Still nothing. He sighed. ?Are you okay??, he asked quietly. MetalArmadillomon removed a claw from his face and scraped the sand with it. ?None of this would have happened if it wasn?t for me. Matt would still be with his friends and you wouldn?t have nearly died.? He spat, angry at himself. Aidan scratched the back of his head. ?Well, that?s true, but it couldn?t be helped. I didn?t want to leave you to die out in that desert. We?re all responsible for our actions, so you could just as easily say it?s my fault for rescuing you.?, he theorised, looking out to sea. MetalArmadillomon shrugged. ?Either way, we?re stuck on this island. Matt and Gabumon have gone off to find some firewood.? MetalArmadillomon didn?t look any happier. Aidan struggled to think of something reassuring. ?Look? once we?ve figured out where we are, we can get out of here. All we?ve seen so far is the beach.? ?I know where we are.? MetalArmadillomon said solemnly. ?And I wish we weren?t.? Aidan looked worried. ?Where are we?? he asked urgently. ?Midway Island. An artificial complex created by the humans for research purposes. I?ve been here before. If we?re seen, that?ll be the end.? Aidan swore under his breath. He hoped Matt and Gabumon were okay. ?Okay, MetalArmadillomon. We have to find the others. Now!? he said firmly. MetalArmadillomon jumped and looked up at Aidan, who was wiping salt scale from his sword. ?I know you?re upset at what happened. I am too. But right now we need to get out of here. Alright? We?ll have time for regrets later.? The black digimon stood up and raised his spines. ?Alright, Aidan.? He said, his confidence slowly ebbing back. ?Let?s go find them.?

Anime They dared to insult the good name of Yu-Gi-Oh!
Solo Tremaine replied to Bandit Joeykuba's topic in Otaku Central
One rumour that is true is that YuGiOh is coming out on GBA and GameCube. It'll be an RPG-style game. And if it isn't right, don't blame me. It was in a magazine I bought. With a pic of Yami Yugi in it. -
Thanks, TN. That's a great help. I know who the companies to look out for (or rather, not look out for) are now. Thanks! I don't want to discredit anime music any more. I have one Ever Anime one as well. Damn! Never mind. I do really like the music, if that's any consolation to the official record company. Actually, another thing to look out for is dodgy pictures- my Digimon 02 Version 2's 'mirrored' at two edges. And it's a dodgy case. But I only paid $11 for it, so I can't expect much for it really... Anyway, I've estimated that I must have over 46 and a half hours of music on all my CDs, Give or take a day.

Down here, two weeks ago, it was so very sunny. I was still wearing sunglasses. It wasn't particularly warm, but it sure was sunny. Now, we've just had two torrential downpours in as many days. The weather changes really quickly. Lets hope for no more floods this year.

On the right people, it can look good. I've always liked Patrick Stewart, but I've never liked Vin Diesel. I'd never want to be bald, particularly. And shadow- :therock:

I agree with people here, but one thing that I've seen is that closing a forum can hurt people's feelings- I felt really embarrassed that I double-posted on my first night here -and sometimes the way the closing posts are worded can be a little harsh. I don't want to draw on examples, but there have been some where they've been worded in a slightly nasty way. It isn't deliberate, and I'm really glad that the mods do all this work for everyone, but it can build up grudges, and just a subtle change of wording can completely change the hidden meaning of a post as interpreted by the reader. I know when one thread in the Digimon forum was closed, I felt really quite bitter about it because of the way the closing post was written. It's just things like that that I'd like to ask mods to be mindful of. I know your job must be difficult, and I know I probably don't know the half of it, but it could help you not get so much aggro from people. Just an idea.

I prefer winter to summer. Mind you, I live on the south coast of England, where we're lucky if we get snow once a year, let alone once a week. I think that cold winds are much nicer than hot humidness. At least with cold weather you can get warm again- if it's hot, it's hot and there's not much you can do about it. Trouble is, our winters aren't so much cold as wet. We had a good day of snow last year, and that was it. I'd love to see more. I know it can be a problem, but if it's at Christmas when no-one's going out then it's not too bad. So winter's a plus for me. I don't get colds, either. But I do get hayfever. Horrible...

I think I'd take it, because even I'd know it would end, it'd be nice to have it again, even if it's just for a little while. At least then you know to enjoy it while you can- before you may not have made full use of it. But, that said, it'd be a lot harder to part with it a second time because you've loved it so much again. Like reopening a scar, it takes longer to fade away. Once you've let go, taking it back again can make it seem a little empty, cause you've learned to live without it. It's like you've spent so much time building yourself up just to have everything you've worked for thrown back in your face- it's been a waste of time otherwise. I know that feeling. But... I'm not so sure any more. Thinking about it now, I actually think I'd leave it. (First time I've changed my opinion in one post. A record for me) In psychological terms, what Deus is explaining is called 'demand characteristics'- we answer how we think the person asking the question (or anyone else) wants to hear it. It's not a conscious thing (most of the time), it just sort of happens, if maybe you're afraid of reprival.

I've never downloaded music. Like James, I don't agree with piracy. I was furious when I found out my Digimon soundtracks were pirates by SonMay. I didn't want to listen to them after that. But there's not much I can do about it now, save posting them all back with an angry letter...bomb. I'm very careful now about where I get my stuff from. In terms of CDs, I have over 60, and that's rising steadily with the impending arrival of the second 2 Zoids ones, and some others I'm considering. But, I haven't included the ones I don't listen to any more or ones I've disassociated myself from (Chumbawumba? What was I thinking?) I don't want to think about what the running times of all that is, seeing as they're all over 45 mins long...
Originally posted by vegeta rocker Starfox, was that any good? I like the clips i heard. i might give it a shot.
It depends how much you like Starfox music. I loved it, personally, even though I was SO annoyed that they didn't include the closing credits on it. It's good music. 42 tracks (and about 11 of them are more or less the same one but edited down- the little bit of opening music to the levels). It's got all the planet themes, Starwolf's attack theme, Katt and Bill's (both less that 20 second long) themes, and the multiplayer music. Plus a bit more- The training and menu music. I got the German version- it's pretty hard to read the CD cover. Not that I expect the Japanese version to be any easier to work out... Spiderman, eh? I liked Chad Kruger's 'Hero', but most of the others I hadn't heard. And I didn't like the fact that there wasn't much Danny Elfman stuff. But is it good all the same?

I have one game soundtrack- Starfox 64. And I really want Super Smash Bros Melee on CD. Titan AE disappointed me, really. I thought it'd be better than it was. It's My Turn to Fly was the best song, though.
-
I hope the Die Another Day score's still done by David Arnold. I loved TWINE and TND. And I can't wait to hear the Chamber of Secrets score. The Two Towers should be good too (although to be honest, LOTR wasn't my favourite soundtrack).

Anime They dared to insult the good name of Yu-Gi-Oh!
Solo Tremaine replied to Bandit Joeykuba's topic in Otaku Central
I've never really had much interest in card games. I know they can be fun, and I understand you like 'em and all, but I personally don't, and never have, collected any card games. I could never really get into the mechanics of how the game worked and it shocked me how far people were prepared to go to get them- one kid here was stabbed last year because of Pokemon cards. I doubt YuGiOh's the same (a much more sophisticated taste), and that's partly due to changing society, but I never wanted to get into that. Having said that, it looks kinda fun. It'd be better if the monsters were real, though. KaibaCorp, please... -
I see what you mean. I didn't understand it... I think. Um... That's a very good point, CWB. It's logical. I doubt anyone can actually respect everyone. No matter how much someone might say they do, there will be a point where they start to not respect people for what they do. Not everyone in the world is respectable anyway. But even if they did, they wouldn't necessarily be respecting no-one. Because even though there are no parameters for respect as such, respect is a feeling which can sometimes be applied to everyone, such as hate. You can hate everyone- that doesn't need 'measuring', as is the same with respect. But you're right-
it shows no clear expectations and an apparent lack of the ability to judge
I'm still confused, though.
-
I'll say sorry fairly regularly simply because I'm paranoid that I may have offended anyone. It's not to cover my back, it's to geniunely apologise for things I think I may have done. Admittedly, I do it too often and I'm too conscious about things I say, but you can never know when something can offend someone. Some people can take jokes, some people can't, and some people can take offence at the smallest things. But I always mean it whenever I say it.

I have a theory about going back in time. If you went back in time and met yourself, anything you did to you wouldn't harm you, because what has happened to you has happened to you and you can't change it. So, if you try and stop yourself from, say breaking your leg, you would still have broken your leg because you really can't change your past. And nothing would change the fact that you went back in time to do it anyway. Essentially, what you're doing is stopping someone else from breaking their leg, despite the fact that they are actually you. And by changing the past, you wouldn't be able to go back to the future you came from because things would have changed. But that's all theory anyway. If I could go back in time I'd buy all the things I said I'd always wanted, like the Dinobots and Visionaries Dagger Assault. I love toys, and to try and get them now would cost hundreds, which I don't have.
