The perfect person for me...

would be intelligent, but still able to learn and discover things.
would have a relatively abstract way of thinking, but not be off the wall.
would be confident in herself and her looks, but not be infallible. Otherwise there's nothing for me too need to support ^_^;
would understand me.
would allow me to support her when she needs me to.
would embrace me for who I am, but still challenge me to move forwards.
would enjoy some of the same things that I do, but not all of them.
would be adventurous.
would be slightly shorter than me, or the same height.
That's about it, I think. I don't have a particular preference to physical features (within reason), so... yeah. But obviously when you fall in love with someone, any preconceived lists fly straight out the window :p You can't really choose who you fall in love with, heh.

What would you outlaw in your fascist dictatorship?
No rap music. No country music. No ghetto bulls-h-i-t. No stupidity. I would make a test that people have to complete at a certain age where if they do not pass, they die. It'd be a tough test too. No more fast food companies. Those guys are evil. Everybody will be forced to watch family guy. And everybody should be able to make sushi, chess pie, and muffins.
I like these points. Although 'Chess' pie sounds a little bizarre. I would run tests on every single person to assess their personality and suitability for having children, and if they were deemed unfit I would castrate them. Just like England about six hundred years ago. Yay for genetic cleansing >.>; I would demand that all wasps be exterminated, and to hell with the ecological consequences. It's not going to cause any earthquakes, and it's not as if many creatures eat wasps. And there'd be lots of tiny, petty things that I'd chase after, like an English-language release of Mysterious Cities of Gold on DVD and stuff like that. -
Well, I'm Solo Tremaine. My real name's Hugo, which I always rather apprehensive about giving out. Sometimes I feel it's embarrassing, although that's usually when I have to tell people it over the phone or in person and they don't hear it properly. "Hugart?" Guh... Anyway, I'm 20 (21 on July 23rd), male and from the United Kingdom. I live near a small city called Chichester and enjoy myself doing what I like doing. I'm currently living at home, and my best friend Dan and I have just finished making a feature-length romantic comedy which we're gearing up for a small-scale cinema release locally, and then we'll produce it on DVD in mid-August. Primarily, I'd like to be an actor/writer, although I haven't fully decided which I'd like to pursue as an overall career. I imagine I'll be writing my (potential) novels before doing anything else major, though, so maybe it'll be that first. I also do historical reenactment and stage combat choerography. I'm pretty fit as a result (and have an affinity for picking up injuries) , but I need to watch what I eat because the girth of my stomach fluctuates on a daily basis. I'm certainly not fat, though. Erm... I have two sisters- one older who lives in Bristol and one younger who's still at home. I get on with them really well ^_^ Currently single, and not enjoying it very much. Although I wouldn't say I need a relationship right now, I'm always hopeful that something will spring up just because I'm prone to feeling lonely and I tend to become rather unmotivated when nobody else is around. I always try to remain friendly and polite wherever I am, though; even if something annoys me I try to hide it. Except when I'm driving. I swear like a lunatic when I drive. And when I'm threatened or if people are being idiots. I'm a big anime/manga fan and I recently travelled to Anaheim, CA, to attend Anime Expo 2006. It was fantastic ^_^ I'm also a closet furry, sort of. I don't enjoy the majority of the things that a lot of the furry community's into (to be honest, I find most of it pretty disturbing), but I really like anthropomorphic characters. They're cool.

Yeah, it's better to have someone with a few personality flaws as opposed to being just downright despicable. If you don't make anyone even vaguely likeable, there's no-one worth reading it for. Perhaps make Maid Marion a little less 'fair madien' and more self-obsessed and vain. And you have to think, why, if Frair Tuck is so vile, is he the group's bard when a normal person with better appearance and voice would be more popular?Sure, Friar Tuc's a fairly big influence, but there are 140 or so other people there. Even if the other bard isn't spectacular- he'd have to be better to hear and look at than a rasping, diseased, morbidly obese fatbag.

I don't mind particularly... except it does seem weird in Samurai 7 when they're always referring to each other as So and So-dono. Sometimes it works, like referring to someone as Blahblah-sensei. But having it too often does annoy me. But Al's referring to Ed as 'Big Brother' I thought was quite cool. He could have called him 'Ed' pretty much any time, though, with his useful lack of lip-flap. I have noticed they've been include more and more now; from my point of view it seems almost like a pre-emptive move by the dub companies to quell elitist sub fans' arguments that it should be as faithful to the original language recording as possible. Or it could just be for authenticity's sake. Either way, if the dub script isn't written particularly well, they'll sound more out of place even if used correctly.

I'm not subtle enough to be a ninja. Even with training, I don't think I'd ever be particularly good at it. Pirates, on the other hand, don't require much training as such, but the more you have the better you are. I much prefer having swordfights in puffy shirts than knife fights in the dark. And although I don't love sailing, boats and galloens are immensely cool ^____^ So yeah, it's pirates for me.

Considering OB's heavily-enforced policy relating to hentai linking, imagery and discussion, there are far better places for people to go to talk about hentai if they enjoy watching it. -
Go from James Joyce to Groucho Marx[/b'].
Right, let's see... James Joyce > Jew > List of Jews > List of Jewish Actors and Actresses > Marx brothers > Groucho Marx It was a rather roundabout way of doing it, but it seems to work ^_^; EDIT: How is Vanilla connected to The ultimate fate of the Universe?
This was SO hard Trigun > Serial > Reel > Rope > Weaving > Knitting
Nice one ^_^ The original plan I laid out was Trigun > Steampunk > Prototype > Scaffolding > Bamboo > Knitting, but yours is a much more logical way of doing it, heh.

Mario > Computer and video games > calculators > addition > arithmetic > Fundemental theorem of Arithmetic Just, heh ^_^; Okay, here's an obscure one. Connect Trigun to Knitting. It's do-able in six (including those two). And note: one of the links isn't in the noun form of its definition.

Wow, everyone wants a piece of BJ ^_^; Amazing stuff, JJ. It was riveting, and really well-paced. But having come back to it now, you know I have to go back and read from the beginning again, damn you...

Hmm... do you reckon we could steal the feed and make an impromptu OtakuBoards AX video podcast or something?
I got a wild cosplay urge yesterday to start a new Bleach cosplay outfit for AX. Yeah, talk about last minute costuming. Speaking of which I really should get back to the sewing machine instead of just writing about working on the costume!!
Wow o_o; I don't have a costume as such, but I have been modifying a jacket I picked up to make it a little more exciting, hehe.
Anyways, BKStyle is right it is called an Enema. Used for medical purposes as a laxative and during surgical procedures, but to me I've known from it because some women use it as a diet procedure. They use it to lose pounds, kind of like a Calonic (or however it's spelt, I really can't remember the name right now) where they insert a tube into the anus and drain out the "stuff" so that you can lose some weight. Personally, I can never imagine doing either one. It sounds all the more to disturbing and painful to me.
Colonic Irrigation, it's called. There's normally no medical reason to have an enema unless you've got impacted fecal matter stuck to your intestinal wall. It loses you a lot of decent intestinal bacteria. Happens when you don't eat enough fibre and fresh fruit and veg and have too many transfats. Fact! But if you were to squirt whatever-it-is far enough into someone's body (i.e. into the stomach), they're in severe trouble- you've ruptured the intestines and destroyed the valves that stop everything going back where it came in. Chances are she'd be dead by that point, in reality. Enemas work under pressure from gravity (a packet of water is held up and flows down the tube into the intestines and is then massaged out afterwards)- not high-pressure hose. Apparently you feel really refreshed after an enema. I'm not speaking from personal experience, but my great aunt had various forms of intestinal problems way back when and had to have several as part of her treatment. But you don't actually lose 'weight' with an enema as such- only what's in your intestines to begin with. Personally, I think it's revolting. Now I'm going to eat some soup. -
Cool ^________^ There's a fair amount of stuff worth watching there. I've always wanted to catch bits of Planetes, Gun X Sword, X TV, Burst Angel... there's a fair amount of stuff I've already seen, though. If it's up, I challenge anyone to a freeplay match or two on Smash Bros: Melee.

I come to these boards to read and post about stuff I'm interested in, not to get a kick out of seeing my username everywhere. I enjoyed being a Moderator, but there were times when I knew I wasn't performing as well as I should have been for whatever reason. And with the Staff situation as it was when I left, it was really hard for me to just walk out when there would have been no-one dedicated solely to the Anime Forum. But I just didn't have time, and my connection was screwing me around for a good few weeks. By leaving I dumped a whole load more work on Dagger, who, as then-recently appointed Administrator, had far more important things to be getting on with. Personally, I haven't seen any significant change in post quality over recent months; even since the beginning of v7, to be honest. It's just as good as it ever was.

Make sure you take everything out of the pockets, too. I always find that if I don't take all the tissues out, I end up with a horrible crusty lump in my jeans pocket and annoying crumbly bits of (admittedly very clean) tissue paper stuck to every inch of all my clothes. I've been pretty good with washing my clothes so far. Since I'm still at home I don't get to do it very often, but when both my parents were away I was in charge of everything in the house, which was actually pretty cool ^_^ I don't have any advice for the lint, though. You can buy lint rollers which you basically just roll or brush over the clothing and it all comes off. We have one but I've never used it. They look like big cotton reels with a maraca handle stuck on one end.

Writing Comments and Critcism Needed for Opening Scene [PG]

That's cool; I'm happier now, hehe ^__^ It's very well-written, and put me in mind a lot of RPGs. Sounds like you've put a lot of work into developing the story elements, and it's showing pretty well. And I can understand the problems with euphamism. Even when not in fiction >.>; -
Writing Comments and Critcism Needed for Opening Scene [PG]
Solo Tremaine replied to kalon's topic in Creative Works
This isn't so much a story or grammatical criticism, but it'd be nice to have an introduction. I'm finding it hard to know what I'm supposed to be following, heh. A little briefing about what Descendants and Dreamers are would be cool to read, too. The first paragraph's nice. It sets the scene well, and I like the last line in there. A little confused about the line describing his eyes- are they coloured in rings, then, or is his skin/eyeline blue? Just a small technical point- it sounds odd to 'sheath' a sword in a belt, because it doesn't cover it. You just... slide it in, heh. There doesn't seem to be a better appropriate word, though. I would avoid the use of 'pinky nail'. It seems too colloquial for the setting. 'Fingernail' would do it- it wouldn't matter to me as a reader which fingernail it was.
He privately thought it was true but meant the words as a joke.
I think this should be re-ordered, or re-written. It's just not nearly as effective as some of the other sentences in the piece, and it needs to be if it's setting up an important character trait that's going to be developed later on. Take a few lines to describe it if you need to, if it's appropriate. The only other thing I was wondering about was Amaranth's second line of dialogue. It looks good on paper, but it doesn't sound like something you'd realistically say as dialogue in general conversation. Unless it's an idiosyncracy she holds to her character, it just seems a bit... complicated. But still, it's all very nice. Like I said, having an introduction would have made anaylsing it a little easier (I personally dislike having names, titles, races etc dropped in without a kind of explanation as to what they mean, but I know this is just a snippet so excuse my pedanticism ^_^; ) -
Well, I won't miss the Ice Climbers. I couldn't even stand beating them up, heh. I'm disappointed that young Link won't be there, though. At least it gives more scope for a more diverse character rota, though, bearing in mind they were almost indentical in looks. You almost couldn't tell that Ganondorf was a clone of Captain falcon because of the sheer difference in power, speed and overall design. I like the subtleties. Bowser Jr seems a bit of a cop-out, but Ridley can only be much-plus-good news ^_^ *eagerly awaits addition of extra Starfox characters... perhaps*
Let's not forget the sixth of every month in 1966, either. I checked wikipedia and absolutely nothing bad in history has happened on a 6-6-06 or x-6-66 day. Save for some activist getting shot...but that hardly counts as apocalyptic. Besides. It's not 6-6-6, it's 6-6-06. The extra digit negates all Satan crap!
Actually, to be fair, The great fire of London was in 1666. Not that it matters at all. Damn that baker. And those poor street planners and building... builders for making incredibly flammable cities back in the day. Hardly an act of divinity.
Well, thanks for doing my work for me! :D
Heh, sorry ^_^; I was itching to know what everyone else was up to and had nothing to do for five minutes.
I'll definitely be attending AX, most likely on the second and third days of the convention (Sunday and Monday, I believe). My brother and sister want to go on the day of the masquerade, so the second day of AX would be most convenient for me to meet up with everyone. As for the time, I'm open to whatever time people want to meet up - I'll be there bright and early to pick up my pass, and I'll be staying until around 7:00 or 8:00 PM. Sennen and I have met up at about 11:00 AM the last couple of years, so maybe that'll work for everybody?
Beans of coolness. I'll literally be anywhere at any time (and I've decided against trying out for AX Idol, as much as I'd like to), so... yeah. Wherever and whenever anyone wants to meet I'm up for it ^_^
I will definitely be there again this year! I am going to be there for all of Anime Expo. As far as I know the convention schedule has not been posted yet so my schedule is wide open. The only things I know for sure I will be attending are a few cosplay photoshoots. I should be around to meet up with everyone.
It keeps changing, but I think this is the schedule so far. They haven't stuck in Random Ninjas or anything like that, which seems bizarre as they're meant to be playing on at least one of the evenings. Whee ^_^

H'lo ^_^ Just wondering how many people here are due to be attending Anime Expo in July, and if anyone wanted to arrange a meet-up, of sorts. I'll be in Anaheim from the evening of the 29th June to July 5th, so I'll be attending all four days of the Expo (but am up for doing other stuff too). I'm also going to see Hyde in the House of Blues on Sunday evening *insert girlish scream* Anyone else?

Well, I picked up the first volume of Samurai 7 a while ago and it's piqued my interest enough for me to want to buy the second volume, hehe. It's a pity that it's UK distributor MVM doesn't include any booklets, though- I just think they give you better value for money than a disc in an empty case. But that's somewhat beside the point ^_^; I'm loving the widescreen format, for a start. Widescreen anime series = yum. The characters are really nicely designed, too, and from what I can remember of Kurosawa's film they're all pretty similar to their originals. And it was a very good film, but I imagine I may find myself liking this a little more. I just think it'll be nicer to digest the story in this way. not that Seven Samurai was ever about story as such anyway- it was the characters. I'm not sure that the Nobuseri are doing very much for me at the moment. You barely see them in any of the first four episodes and I felt there was a dramatic lack of urgency and pacing in regards to Kirara and Co.'s quest. I kept feeling that something should have already happened to establish the need for them to leave in the first place. Even though they explained it, they seemed to spend more time prologueing about the war (that hasn't had much relevance so far anyway) than actually showing the villager's peril. The English dub is alright, but there are times when it sounds a little bland. Although given the original Japanese dialogue, it seems quite hard to rectify. I'm in two minds as to whether I should continue in Japanese or English, heh ^_^; So yeah, good stuff. I'm sitting on a 7 out of 10 until I get to see more.
-
Personally I think the manga's much much better than the anime. the pacing's better, it's more dramatic, the story's explained in a more pleasing way... and it's generally nicer-looking too. I wish they'd hurry up and print that final eighth volume, though. The first six virtually stormed onto press >.>;

Ah, the trailer hasn't even finished and I've only been this excited by any game once- Smash Bros Melee. I was hoping for some news about this. Wii can't come soon enough. I wonder how many more new characters and areas there'll be. The stuff there looks astounding and the powerups will hopefully add a more interesting dymanic to an already very accomplished game, but I know there's stuff in there I'll be disappointed to not see.
I could have done without Wario, personally. And although Snake wasn't someone I was hoping for necessarily, it's really nice to see him as a guest. I hope we won't get too many more Pokemon thrown in the lineup.
Pit's redesign looks pretty sharp, too. Looking at his trophy in SSB:M really put me off seeing him in Brawl, heh, but I guess I should have had more faith in the developers. bad me. EDIT: And fully orchestrated music? Beautiful ^____^
