Anime Does more anime demand mean more hentai demand?
Solo Tremaine replied to SilentSecurity's topic in Otaku Central
The problem is, as long as the internet retains its freedom of speech and expression and the companies don't bother trying to enforce copyright infringement laws onto the artists who draw hentai doujin, it's always going to be there (along with all the hideous lemons that plague fanfiction sites). If it wasn't allowed on the internet at all there'd be little to no problem with it- the hentai would remain in its own little subsection of the anime/manga shelves where they needn't offend anyone unless they're actually bought by mistake. -
Err, I bought myself a diary some weeks ago. I haven't really used it, though. Most of the time I remember where I need to be (at the last minute), so nothing disaterous has happened yet. But I guess I'm tempting fate more than a little here. I don't really manage my time very well. I haven't had a regular eating or sleeping pattern in weeks and I'm constantly taking on new endeavours. It's not that i don't have time for them, but I haven't worked out a routine for myself to fit everything in smoothly. I guess it doesn't help that a lot of the time things go on for longer than I anticipate- it does make things a lot harder to get round. The best thing to do is make a record of what you're already doing and then just learn to say no to anything that's going to conflict with what you feel is most important. Someone asked me up to Birmingham for three days this weekend, and I said no because I know I have a lot of other stuff I need to be doing (and I don't like Rammstien). But if I had gone, there'd be a whole lot of stress and unfinished stuff waiting for me. *ends ramble* So yeah, prioritising is good.
go rei gooo! *roots*
Please don't post such short replies, Chaos. This really counts as spam, especially as it's not adding anything constructive to the topic at hand. Please also try to use proper spelling, grammar and punctuation wherever you're able. Anyway, my vote goes for Rei. I've not seen enough of Fullmetal to know what Winry is really like, but I still think Rei's character design is better. It's the hair, and eyes ^_^

I think any anime that's good enough will inspire you to do something, whether it's directly related to the anime or not. Most of the animes I see make me want to write, because the feeling I get from watching a really evocative show inspires creativity within me. Or design cosplay costumes o_o; I'd say that Rurouni Kenshin pushed me to increase the amount of practice I have swordfighting, and to a degree made me want to puch my body harder so that I could achieve more physically. Of course, trying to copy any of the moves or physical feats that Kenshin does would be ludicrously impossible- you don't see me running around shouting 'DO RYU SEN!!!' in my back garden, for instance. But it's something to work towards. And anything inspirational is good, as far as I'm concerned ^_^ By the way, please watch the number of abbreviations you use, Chaos Eidolon. Using them too much is against OB's rules, heh. And try whenever you can to add as much detail into your posts as possible- replies that are too short will be deleted as spam.
I Friggin Love Dat Show!!!
Welcome to OtakuBoards, Kyo's Babe. Please try and add more detail to your posts in future- on its own, this post was spam and I had to delete it as such. If you do like a show, it's always an idea to explain why you do, perhaps which bits you thought were particularly good or which characters you like. or even anything you think could be improved upon. Just anything to prevent it from falling below OB's standards.

Anime I have a question about animes in america.
Solo Tremaine replied to rascalkitten's topic in Otaku Central
another thing i noticed is that they changed sanji's cigerette to a lollipop...wth? i thought that was so stupid...kids see cigerettes in tv and movies and their parents probably smoke them...so wats wrong with sanji smoking one? its just stupid for it to be a lollipop...
That is something I can actually understand. Having characters smoking, good or bad, and regardless of whether the kids' parents actually smoke it's going to promote it in some way, and I completely abhor smoking. You're speaking as if everyone's going to start anyway, which isn't something I agree with. Having drink in animes aimed at kids is one thing, but cigarettes is another. I know this argument begs the question 'Well, how can you be for one evil and against another?', but I just disagree with smoking more than I do with drinking (so long as it's in moderation). -
Okay, I understand that searching a forum for a specific anime series becomes a little grey when there are older threads that haven't yet been closed, but the better Shaman King thread is here. Please use that one in future. Please also be careful of your post quality, Duo- specifically with regard to abbreviations. Thread closed.

If you're worried it'll happen again, it may be an idea to check the Who's Online page before posting- that way you're more likely to be able to tell if someone's already writing a reply, or may be reading the thread in preparation. But that's not always entirely accurate. Really, as Sage has already said it's a relatively tiny problem. So long as the two of you can compromise the posts between you there's no harm done ^_^

Anime Does more anime demand mean more hentai demand?
Solo Tremaine replied to SilentSecurity's topic in Otaku Central
I don't think demand for hentai ever actually increases, but the number of different characters to portray it does, so it probably expands at the same rate as the growth of anime itself. But at the same time you get a lot of hentai which isn't from any series in particular- it's just generic characters in hentai situations. So... yeah. -
ffgirl_Ashe, I've added spoiler tags to your post. Please be mindful of what you could be revealing to people who haven't yet seen the series. It's really important that everyone tries to get the hang of using these- repeatedly failing to do so will result in a ban from the site.

Welcome to OtakuBoards, LIL SLUGGER. Unfortunately, there are some things that I need to point out to you about your post. Forstly, typing completely in capital letters is not only rather difficult to read, but it's also considered spam, and would normally be deleted as such according to the site's Rules, which I would sugest you take a look at. Secondly, in the Anime Lounge we only allow one thread per specific anime. If you want to talk about a series, you need to either look through the Official Threads Directory or run a search of the forum- everything's explained here. Either way, there's a Paranoia Agent thread already open where you may discuss the series. Please make sure to check next time. Thread closed. If you've any further questions, feel free to send a PM.

In a darkened room in the centre of Clandestine's Operations complex a single chair sat, separated from all walls. In front of it stood a black desk that looked as if it had been relaxed into shape, rather than constructed. On the chair, sat a figure. The door slid quietly open and a shaft of light split the room in two, illuminating the figure's shoulder. "Sir?" the Agent Superior at the door stepped inside tentatively. "That's enough." A soft voice answered. "What is it?" "One of our Field Researchers was killed yesterday." There was a brief pause. "Who was it?" "Vivid- the chameleon. She had just finished investigating the new dig site at Xi'an when her helicopter developed a malfunction on the return journey. She and the bodies of the two Field Agents escorting her were found by the wreckage. Unfortunately, we haven't been granted passage to return the wreck and Vivid's report to our facility- the Chinese Government claim it was an American spy mission and have secured it in a military compound. We don't know where it is, though." The figure at the desk fell silent, his head resting on his hands. The Agent Superior caught a slight glimpse of the brilliant white of his hair in the light. " I'm sorry to have to tell you this, sir. I know it was a mission you were particularly interested in." There was another brief, gripping silence. It pressed against the Agent Superior, almost stifling him. "Form up some tactical teams. I want a covert team of Field Researchers posted into Xi'an to re-investigate the site, and they must be escorted by at least one Field Agent each. I want the Hackers to try and locate the position of the military compound and to take a Researcher inside to determine what happened and retrieve the initial report. This is not a situation that I will allow to be brushed off." Despite the urgency of the situation, the Agent Superior was surprised with how soft his voice remained. "As you wish, sir." * * * Trace stared at the body of the dragon with disdain. He hoped somebody would be facing a disciplinary meeting over this. He wandered over to his vehicle, wishing to some extent that he'd never volunteered for Heavy Loader training. many new operatives get told by other Agents what to and what to not sign up for but unfortunately that was a luxury that he'd missed out on. It was a massive bulk of a machine- a huge platform on two-metre wide wheels with a large mechanical tower on one side that slid up and down its length, huge claws poised for lifting, shifting and, without proper training, crushing. Hauling himself into the cabin he cranked the ignition, sending the machine roaring into life. It rolled out from its holding bay and into the main hangar area. "I'd better recieve a bonus for this," he muttered. ------------------------------------------------------- OOC: Each character wll receive a message through some form or another asking them to attend a special mission brief in Operations. I'll assign which characters are called to thich duty then, if nobody objects. Use the Underground thread if there are any questions.

I order my Black Mages CDs from Otaku.com, which is also pretty good for anime/game CDs in general. Otherwise, CDJapan.co.jp is your best bet for something originating from Japan. I own both Black Mages CDs, and I have to say that while I'm really impressed with how they sound (the real electric guiotar adds so much more depth to these orchestrations than having them replaced with violins or trumpets or something), a lot of the tracks they have appear rather... unmemorable to me. I love Clash on the Big Bridge, J.E.N.O.V.A and a ouple of others, but a lot I just tend to skip through. I've not had much of a chance to listen to much of the second CD, but the songs (Above the Skies and... another one) are quite nice, even though the vocals are a little dodgy in places. It's a fantastic idea. If only they did it with Smash Bros music...

GTK is right, there already is a Yami no Matsue thread open. Please be sure to check for existing threads before starting a new one, either by looking through the Official Threads Directory or by running a search of the forum. Please try and include more detail in your posts in future as well- posts that are too short or of too poor a quality will be deleted as spam. Thread closed.

I don't mind questions at all ^_^ It helps me get to thinking, too. Hackers do various things. Ones stationed within the base, when not on a break, carry out maintenance all over the complex or build and research technologies in the Research Complex. Some work on a rota system in Operations, but since it's generally a fairly boring task not many people volunteer for it. UPDATE: I'm not going to be able to post until Sunday evening, but I promise I'll initiate this chapter's main storyline when I can post. I'm sorry I've not had any time recently, but please keep posting as much as you like. Thanks for your patience, again >_>;

Okay, I think I need to direct people's attention to the Rules here. Please try to put as much thought and detail into your posts as you can, guys. This is all pretty terrible as far as OB's standards go. Thread closed.

Welcome to OtakuBoards, tomoko993. Please be aware that we only allow one thread per specific anime series in the Anime Lounge, and there's a Full metal Panic thread here where you can discuss the series as much as you like. You can look for existing threads either by looking through the Official Threads Directory or by running a search of the forum. Either way, duplicate threads are spam and will be closed or deleted as such. Please try to include more detail when starting a new thread, too. If you're talking about an anime, explain what it's about, who the characters are and what it is in particular that you like or don't like about it. It makes it much easier for everyone else to reply. Posts that are too short count as spam as well. Thread closed. If you've any questions, feel free to send a PM.

Please don't double-post, MS-001. It's against the Rules. If there's something you'd like to add to your original post, please use the 'Edit' button located underneath it. I don't think this is a question that can easily be answered- it's almost a rhetorical question, the way it's been phrased. Seeing as nothing's come of it so far I'm going to close the thread. Try and make sure that your intentions and aims for discussion are clear when you create a thread by adding more detail to your opening post- it's easier for people to reply, then. But remember to check for existing threads before starting a new one about a specific anime first. Thread closed.

Does anyone here study true alchemy?
Solo Tremaine replied to kenshi112's topic in General Discussion
As closely related to FullMetal Alchemist as this is, considering it's not about the series in particular I'm moving it to the Otaku Lounge. It'll probably gain a better variety of scientific discussion there, heh. -
The film is currently on hold- they haven't even found a director for it yet, so as far as something as simple as character names go everything's still up in the air. Most of the images there date back to sometime in 2004, and anything could have changed since then. Besides, it's an adaptation- you can hardly expect it to be completely faithful to the original show. Consider the fact that the characters will probably be played by actors whose first language is English- it's not realistic to have someone with the voice of Elijah Wood being called Shinji if his character base isn't even going to be from Japan. We don't know the details about how much of the plot and background has been changed, so at this point I don't think it makes a difference as to what the names are. Personally, I always thought it weird that Asuka, being Gernam, had the name Asuka Langley Soryu. But then, it's been a long time since I saw the series and there may have been an explanation within that I missed.

Anime Will Anime die with our generation?
Solo Tremaine replied to SilentSecurity's topic in Otaku Central
I don't think Anime will die as a genre...however as a fade that's been going on in American I can eventually see it dying off in such popularity. In terms of old school anime dying off and nobody remebering it. Well I think for the most part that's already happened. Not many people these days do you hear meantion old school animes like Macross, Gogaiger, Mosepeda, and various other titles of the early 80s/70s.
Certainly wth the greater amount of anime influences in Western animation, I doubt it's going to disappear without a fight. However, I think the wider recognition of anime towards mainstream audiences will falter (or certainly stall) when Miyazaki stops making movies. As far as I know those are the only ones which gain a significant commercial release, but if they're gone then there's little else to try and compete with Western animation markets in cinemas. That's going to be a huge blow. I can imagine it gaining some kind of Star Trek-esque fandom when most of us have grown to be in our forties and fifties. Of course, anime storylines are far more diverse than one specific series but even so it does seem to be rather more of a cult following than something more widespread. So I think there's a possibility that the main popularity of anime fandom will be carried with this generation only, unless a wider distribution of the medium comes to hand outside Japan.
