1. DragonCommando, I merged your thread with the original Comic Party one. Please be sure to check for existing threads by running a search or by looking through the Official Threads Directory Sticky at the top of the forum.
That poll sucks.
Bloodseeker, posts like this aren't helpful. They're spam, so please don't post them unless there's something else you can add to the discussion alongside it.
2. I very much agree with what Roxie says. Almost every anime I watch is in English, with a few rare exceptions. To be honest, even if the voices do annoy me to an extent, I still prefer hearing what it sounds like in English because even though I might not agree with how the actor is playing the part, I can dentify more readily with an English voice and I feel I can gain a better emotional interpretation of the series as a result. Even if it's the English dub with Japanese-language subtitles, I can still understand it and see the differences between the two. The only anime I've watched all the way through in Japanese was Final Fantasy: Unlimited, and that was only because I didn't like the children's dub voices and they were a major part. I'm guessing kids are hard to cast- invariably they'll almost always sound like girls (as women are better at achieving high, quiet voices at a natural level) or poorly-acted because a lot of children actors aren't able to provide the subtleties that many animes require. Momiji (from Fruits Basket)'s English voice annoys me occasionally, but most of the time I enjoy it because it's a decent show, not necessarily a word for word translation. So I vote dubs, generally.
3. Welcome to OtakuBoards, crazychibi. There's a thread where this subject is discussed in great detail here- please be aware of threads that already exist that your new topic might fit into. Repeated topics count as spam, and will be closed/deleted as such. Just be sure to check first, either by running a search or, if what you want to talk about is a specific anime, take a look at the Official Threads Directory at the top of the forum display. Thread closed. If you've any questions, feel free to send a PM ^_^
4. Bearing in mind I've only seen a single trailer for the film so far, it strikes me that Miyazaki has almost identical character designs for every male protagonist in each film of his I've seen so far. Ashitaka looks almost exactly like Haku and the boy from Castle in the Sky, and there's little to no visible difference between him and Howl, too. The stories could hardly be further from each other, but I find the similarity of their designs (and character, usually) a little grating after a while. At least a change in hair colour?
5.
I just watched the first DVD of Rah Xephon. Some notes (I seem to have made a habbit out of doing this): ... Not bad. It isn't like Elfen Lied, where I'm biting at the bit for the next episode and feel the need to go out and buy the DVD some time within the next week, but I've got a good feeling about it. It looks like its going revolve a lot around detailed character developement and the relationships between those characters, and those shows are usually the best. I've already added the next volume to my Netflix queue.
Those were almost exactly my thoughts when I watched the first DVD. The second gets better, as does the third. By the time you're at the fifth, it's possibly one of the most compelling animes I've ever watched. I'd advise you to keep with it, hehe.
6. The facility itself is massive- think in terms of a small city, and it's not all on one level. It's made up of several complexes: -Residential, which includes various trade outlets, recreation grounds and accomodation for most of the creatures living there. -Research, which is the largest standalone section. It has several hangars which stretch about a mile underneath the ground and leads to the surface. From here they dispatch transports and vehicles of many different kinds. This complex also includes the storage of most of the military equipment. The training grounds are also located here, and there's a small residential area, too. -Compound; a prison system used to hold violent creatures and keep artifacts in safe storage when not in use by the researchers. It has a small accommodation section where the prison guards live on rotation. -Operations; A comparatively small section compared to everything else, this is where the entire facility is run and monitored. There are subsections for each major complex. The Agent Superiors reside here. Everything is linked via a series of corridors/lifts/tunnels, and an incredibly long (and very fast) underground railway network links Clandestine to the major cities of Australia and to their Coastal Facility to the north, which is basically a plane/boat depot and transport station. Inside, the place is kept pretty clean. Most of it is built like Westminster Underground Station with various other influences, but the residential areas are much more homely, with carpets and plants dotted about the place. There's a large underground garden there as well, along with gyms, playing fields, cinemas, etc... Each corridor and room has its own serial number and everything excpet the houses are monitored by CCTV. It's set in the present day, but some liberties can be taken with technologies as more alien artifacts and things are found/developed.
7. I think discussions such as these are best left to blogs, rather than threads on OB. I don't want this to sound like I'm against people having entertaining discussion, but it's really not very constructive stuff, especially as it's taken from someone else's site in the first place (which, without credit it could be classed as plagarism, but I don't think there's any need to go that far). And, having them for one anime would mean we'd need to allow them for every other anime, so in that sense it's just not practical either. Sorry, heh. Thread closed.
8. A deathly silence shrouded the skies of the Australian Outback. The cloudless air exposed the barren earth to the stars above, flickering gently in the serenity of space. The unassailable deserts felt more foreboding than usual that night. The small creatures scuttling in and out of their burrows seemed ill at ease, their searches for food hurried and desperate. It was not a good sign. A lone human stood on a thin metal tower gazed dilligently at the land around him. He allowed himself a brief smile at the thought of any traveller walking past, and having absolutely no awareness of the huge secret the ground underneath them harboured... * * * I can't concentrate. A heavy fist smacked the desk in frustration, causing a brief lapse in the various conversations in the library. It was unusually noisy today, even to someone with a highly-trained sense of hearing. The man swiped his long fringe out of his eyes and stared blankly at the sheet of paper in front of him. A few sparse lines of handwriting lay before him, each one a failed start at a letter. Grunting in discontent, he screwed it up and hurled it in the direction of a nearby bin, which failed to catch it. Utterly fed up, the man pushed himself out of his chair and stormed out of the room, muttering something unsavoury under his breath. "So much for today's letter," he sighed, doing his best not to attract anyone's attention as he strode militantly down the steel corridors of the underground complex, wringing his leather gloves into a more comfortable position on his arm. He hadn't written to them in six weeks- surely they'd be worried. Things had just been so busy lately, he'd- Thump. "Oh, sorry!" Trace looked down at the researcher he'd knocked to the floor as he rounded the corner. She sheepishly picked up her books and straightened her glasses. "What are you apologising for?" Trace laughed. "I was the one who knocked you over." The researcher let out an embarrassed laugh. "Well, I never like to hedge my bets. People round here can get pretty aggressive sometimes." He shrugged. "Fair enough. Take care next time." She stumbled away, the sound of her high-heeled shoes slowly fading in the distance. Shaking his head, he continued down the corridor.
9. Cast: Ozymandius Jones: Indira Gavaskar Clone Trooper: Sir Landon Brightstar snarktastic: Saly Freeman Solo Tremaine: Trace Arc'hantael Sakura: Sakura Kelay'la Kamuro: Katz Takuya: Laquara Solero Fallen: Xander Jaxxon Mimminx: Adéle Palou Right, this thread and the RPG have been a long time coming, but unfortunately my participation in it will be very sparse until a much longer time coming still, as I've virtually no time online between now and the 10th of July. At least, as far as I can see. Anyway, this thread is for anything you'd like it to be for. If you want to post stories or information related to your characters in here without directly involving them in the RPG proper you can do so, and this will also be for talking over plot points and any problems/general questions that might arise. After opening the RPG I'll leave it a while before I start the main story element rolling, so's everyone has time to settle into their characters and functions. I just need to figure out the mechanics of things and it'll be off. Thanks for being patient with me. I'm sorry this has been so disorganised, heh.
10. You'll have to be a lot more specific about the purpose of this thread, else I'm going to close it- is it a quiz or a general question thread? There's already a Gundam SEED thread, but no specific Wing one as of yet. Please try and make sure your posts are coherent, especially when starting a new topic.
11. I fail to see why this couldn't have been asked in the Stand Alone Complex thread to begin with. If you have a question about any of the series individually, then the thing to to is ask the questions in those threads and not create a new one. gundampali, please do not create unnecessary topics.
12. There is a favourite character thread located here, where you can discuss which characters you like best. Please check for existing threads before starting a new one. It's in the Rules Thread closed.
13. Most of the subjects here can be covered in the already numerous favourites threads that are littering the Anime Lounge, and simply submitting them in a list without any kind of reasoning as to why counts as spam. Please be sure to put thought into creating new threads, especially favourites ones as they tend to lend themselves to short and spammy replies if not properly regulated. Also, try and make sure as best you can that anything new can't already be covered in existing threads. Thread closed.
14. I think everything in this topic can really be covered here with ample detail. Please be sure to check for existing threads before starting a new one. Thread closed.
15. Uh, this thread is from 2001. Not only is that rather excessive for it to have been brought back, but it's also not a good example of the kind of discussions we expect at OB, heh. Please don't bring back such old threads unless they're about a specific anime. Thread closed.
16. I actually think this one's been given a lot more thought than the previous one, so I'm willing to let it stay up and close the other. As long as it remains as detailed as it's begun, I've no complaints ^_^ Please don't play mod Otaku America- while I appreciate the help, it is against the rules.
17. It was the same with Zoids: Guardian Force. I think it's a case of the actors warming into their characters and getting used to how they react, and also finding new ideas to incorporate into their voice- it's a natural process of acting. They also probably find out more about the stories as they go- the more episodes they do, the more places (emotional states, perhaps) they find that their characters haven't been before, and hence more depth is added to them as they go. Although I'm reluctant to say Pokemon has any kind of depth, but that's debateable ^_^;
18. There is an FLCL thread here where you can discuss the series. Please be sure to check for existing threads before starting a new one. Thread closed.
19. There's a Witch Hunter Robin thread here where you can discuss the series. Please be sure to check for existing threads before starting a new one, either by looking through the Official Threads Directory Sticky at the top of the page or by running a search yourself. hi

Welcome to OtakuBoards, xteddybearx13. I seriously suggest you take a look at the Rules before posting again. At OB we have particular standards regarding post quality and what counts as spam, and unfortunately as this is, it's spam. Introductory threads aren't allowed at OB anyway, but if you do start a thread please be sure to include as much detail as you can to prevent it becoming spam. Also, it's always appreciated when you use full words, proper grammar, spelling and punctuation. Anything that's too spammy will be deleted. That said, I hope you enjoy yourself. If you've any problems, feel free to send a PM. Thread closed.
21. Gundampali, without meaning to sound rude, it's really not worth posting in a thread if you don't understand what the point of it is. Please don't spam. I think this thread has gone about as far as it can do. People can (and probably will) argue about their favourite anime until they're blue in the face but it won't change the fact that these are what people actually voted for, and hence this is why they came out as such. Perhaps in future we'll be able to hold a massive, more definitive anime poll whereby people will have more time to nominate/vote for animes they like. Considering how time-consuming these things are to put up, I think Eva Unit 100 has done a pretty good job. Thread closed.
22. Welcome to OtakuBoards, rainofblood91. Without trying to sound harsh, I'd like to direct you to our Rules page, which will help explain what I'm about to go into. Please try and add more detail ot your posts, especially when starting a thread. Posts that are too short/too lacking in detail/pointless will be deleted as spam, as with your 'hi' thread. Also, please be sure that you're using (as much as is possible) correct grammar, spelling and punctuation in your posts. The quality of your posts is incredibly important at OB- anything too spammy will be deleted. Also, as sakurasuka mentioned, there is already a thread like this in the Anime Lounge- please be sure to check for existing topics before starting a new one unless the topic you're looking for happens to be over a month old. If it's a specific anime thread, however, you can post in those no matter how old they are. Finally, with all that said, I hope you enjoy yourself here. if you've any questions, feel free to send a PM. Thread closed.
23. I owe everyone a huge apology for not being able to get the information to you when I said I would. Thanks for being so patient. Things have just been so busy here that I've barely had time to moderate, let alone look at the Adventure Inn. Anyway, the cast is as follows: Ozymandius Jones: Indira Gavaskar Clone Trooper: Sir Landon Brightstar snarktastic: Saly Freeman Solo Tremaine: Trace Arc'hantael Sakura: Sakura Kelay'la Kamuro: Katz Takuya: Laquara Solero Fallen: Xander Jaxxon Mimminx: Adéle Palou I'm sorry I wasn't able to accept everyone. If you want feedback in relation to anything I'll be glad to answer, and you're more then welcome to try for Parts II and III as well if you want to. I'll get the Underground and Arena threads up as soon as possible. Thank you ^_^
24. I'm incredibly annoyed that I happened to miss these posts when they came up, but if I see any more arguing such as this in threads again, you're both liable to be banned. Personal arguments/flaming is to be kept strictly off the boards and in your own time.
25. Surprisingly, there is no actual Gundam Wing thread in the Anime Lounge. There used to be a whole forum dedicated to the Gundam franchise, but since they've closed we've had threads about SEED, some other Gundam series and general, all-encompassing ones. If you do want to start a thread about a specific series and can't find one in the Official Threads Directory or by running a search of the forum then you may start your own. But if you do create one about a specific anime please be sure to include as much detail as you can about it- what the plot/characters are like and what you think of it. It gives a lot more discussion for people to bounce off. There you'd be able to ask all of the questions you like about the series, too. Thanks to r2vq for answering the question. Thread closed.
