1. Welcome to OtakuBoards, kingdomhrtslvr. Please be aware that there are certain Rules and a few guidelines regarding post quality on OB. When starting a thread, please be sure to check for existing topics either by searching the forum itself or by looking in the Official Threads Directory Sticky at the top of the forum display. Also, try and include as much detail as possible- for all posts in general and especially when starting a topic- what is the anime about, what you like about it, etc. This all makes posts far more interesting to read and reply to. Anything that's too short and/or spammy will be deleted. Thread closed. If you have any questions, feel free to send a PM.
 2. I'll presume this was meant to be an anime-related question? Please try and be more specific (and detailed) when starting a new thread, TwoMoons. I was close to closing this right off the bat, but I'll leave it open for a while so long as it stays on-topic and and spam-free.
 3. Welcome to OtakuBoards, sailorkagome2. Please be sure to check for existing topics about specific animes before starting a new one; there's a Fruits Basket discussion here where you can talk about potential relationships between characters. Although please use spoiler tags when discussing things that may spoil the series for people who haven't yet seen that far (like me). Finally, when starting a topic about anything, please try and include more detail. For something like this, perhaps explain why each character may be good for Tohru and give supporting arguments for each. It makes topics much more interesting to read and reply to. Thread closed.
 4. There is such a thing as overinterpretation, you know ^_~ Heh, I was typing out a response about superficialities of images and things like that, but I guess there is a fair amount you can draw from the way people choose to display them and what they splice them with. So I would have been disagreeing with what I was saying o_o; That said, a lot of the conclusions you can draw from aesthetics will only be superficial at best unless there's something you can read into (or you can guess incredibly well): with Gemini_Phoenix's, for example, most of it's Ghost in the Shell related, and since I know very little of the series I can only say that you like Ghost in the Shell, as has already been stated. If you're looking into minor details, you seem to like your humour; "Pandora's Box: Warranty Void If Opened" and "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" are quite nice witticisms. And "Catapulting Teacups" suggests a further liking for a slightly more random brand of humour, too. So we have aspects of our senses of humour that can identify. I don't know whether you came up with them or not, but if you did it's cool. But then, a lot of people have jokes and things in their signatures, many of which are quotes from somewhere else. So there's an alternative to every interpretation you read. Not that I think your Ghost in the Shell theme is done out of pure spite and irony or anything, but you never know. I think it'd be more obvious if it was, heh.
 5. I bought the first Chrono Crusade DVD a few weeks ago and I'm really enjoying it. But (and this ia a big niggle), this has been the first DVD I've bought where I've been less-than-averagely contented with the voices. While Hilary Haag plays Rosette very well, I'd have preferred to hear someone else in her place. It's not that she's not good, but I can almost predict the path and measure of the character by the way she plays it, as she's always given the same sorts of roles to play. I don't think Laura Chapman's particularly well-suited to the loud outbursts that Sister Kate frequently bashes Rosette's ears with and for some reason Remington's voice just didn't seem to be in the right body. It's just not sat right with me. But Greg Ayres is very good. I like him, heh. I think the storyline's really interesting so far- I've always been partial to Van Helsing-esque adventure romps. I'm eager to see where the series is going, and apart from the minor niggles I have with the voices, there's little I can complain about. My sister absolutely loves it too (probably moreso than I do, heh), which is always a good thing ^_^
 6.
outlaw star was a cool show
Please try and put more detail into your posts in future, aires- replies that are too short will be deleted as spam. It doesn't take much; just explain what you liked about the show and/or anything else you can think of. Extra effort's always appreciated, heh ^_~
 7.
For the english, I would prefer not to recognize someone. If not for the fact that I don't want to picture someone other than the character onscreen, then for the fact that one is much more objective to dubbing quality. I hate it when I recognize a voice and can attach a face to it. It helps to not keep up with the names of people and actors, haha.
Same here. As much as I like his voice, having someone like Ian McKellen playing Gendo Ikari (for example) would get far too distracting- you'd only listen to it because it was Ian McKellen and everything else that the anime has going for it would be overshadowed. It's mildly frustrating enough to have a voice actor who's been in every other anime you've seen acting as a major part. Hilay Haag's very good at what she does, but I've gotten so used to her voice now it almost becomes boring to listen to. And I like Chrono Crusade.
 8.
I think what Adahn was getting at is that breasts are distracting not because they're sexually attractive, but because they're distracting -- mostly due to our preconcieved notions that breasts are sexual things. I'm sure you'd be a little flustered if a woman just whipped out a breast in front of you to feed her child. It's just ... natural. It's engrained in us.
That's true actually, heh. I'm sure a lot of professional executive men probably aren't the sort who are used to seeing women breast-feed, either.
 9.
Let's analyze why people don't want to see breastfeeding taking place. People have developed a sexual perception of breasts, and exposing one's breast inappropriately is seen as wrong for this reason. However, when a woman is breast-feeding, I dare-say the exposition is not in the least bit sexual. It's time for you to drop your notions of sexuality just for a moment and realize that not only is breast-feeding in any place at any time appropriate, but you shouldn't consider them sex organs in any way, shape, or form (while breastfeeding).
Despite the involvement of breasts, there's nothing I find attractive about breastfeeding. You're making a rather sweeping generalisation here, although doubtless there'd be an element of it involved. I can understand where the guy in the office meeting was coming from, though- if you're trying to maintain a professional image of yourself you lose a certain amount of credability if you suddenly whip your breast out and attach a child to it. It's distracting enough to a meeting to have a child in there in the first place, let alone to start breastfeeding at a table during what could be an important discussion. I think that's more likely to be the basis of the guy's protest.
 10. The thing about breast milk is that it contains antibodies essential for developing the babies' immune system. The most important feeding you can give a baby is right after they're born, as that's when it contains the most good stuff. I don't think women should give up breast feeding by any means. Geez, what's wrong with being nautral? Of course, there is a time and a place to do it (and an executive meeting probably isn't either, really), but it has to be done and you can't exactly delegate times for the baby to be hungry. It doesn't work like that. EDIT: Obviously if there's a medical reason for someone not being able to breast-feed then there's no case, but generally I believe the natural stuff's far better. There's no way to completely duplicate something like that. But not only that, feeding a baby from a tube rather than yourself just seems to lose a deeper kind of connection between you and the child. Had I breasts (or kids, for that matter), I'd breast-feed.
 11. Hmm, I don't think the subject in this thread can't be covered in any other of the threads discussing favourite or seriously liked characters (or even the Fruits Basket thread itself). I hate to be rude, but I'm going to close the thread. Otherwise we'd have to have a favourites thread for every specific anime series around, and that just gets impractical. When you do post threads like these, though, be sure to include detail as exampled by JenniKate. 'Favourite...' threads have had a tendency in the past to generate spammy replies and inevitably get locked. Thread closed.
 12.
Anything made by CLAMP, they are all about the four letter word love. Their work is envolved around the way people fall for eachother and how friendships becomes something more. The one love story i have to say about CLAMP, would have to be Cardcaptor Sakura and Wish. Also Ranma 1/2 is great and its funny too. There's sailormoon and Ah My Goddess and Vandread and theres Read or Die the movie which talks about what would you choose between the love in a book or love in real life. I think those are romantic and Inuyasha is known to have alot of romane init too. :catgirl:
I wouldn't call X (a CLAMP production) a series about love. It's not based around romantic love anwyay, even if it is involved somewhere. And Read or Die barely touches on romance, really. One of the characters
has a relationship with the main villain
, but it's much more of an action-based flick. I really liked the aspects of love in RahXephon. I know it's more of a sci-fi suspense/mecha, but there are strong elements of love in the character developments throughout the series. And the ending is just... *fails to describe it properly* ...well, if you get to see it then you'll probably understand. It does take quite some watching to get to the more relationship-orientated bits but it's all well worth watching anyway. The movie's much more centered around Haruka and her love if that's what you're after. Full Metal Panic: Pandemonium (read: Fumoffu) could be good for a laugh, too.
 13. Whoo, I like this thread ^_^ *rifles through anime soundtrack collection* For me, the most relevant one that I like best is probably 'VIVID', the Final Fantasy: Unlimited end theme. The translation on the internet I found I don't really like, as the meanings of the words don't make a lot of sense. The subtitles on the DVDs, however, really make the message stand out a lot more. Basically it talks about being so in love with someone that you can't say anything, and you just want to spill your guts about it but don't know what to do. I'm not in that situation right now (nor have I been for a while), but it's one I can always identify with. I tend to find personal relevance in a lot of songs I listen to. I tend to enjoy anime ones more if there is something there I can latch onto emotionally (I'm sure I could find more if I could understand Japanese...) A lot of the ones from .hack//SIGNecifically 'The World' and 'In the land of twilight, under the moon' have some meaning to me. The Lost Universe opening theme is something I'd pretty much call my own opening theme, even though the lyrics are pretty corny when you look at them. It's still good, though.
 14. Bloodseeker, there is no need to 'bump' threads. Double-posting is spam and against the Rules so please don't do it. If yours is the last post in the thread and you want to announce the results separately, you can delete your first reply and add in another one after that.
 15. Bloodseeker, please don't double-post. If you're the only one who ends up actually posting in these threads then I'll close and delete them all, as it only ends up as spam. I would urge everyone who places a vote to give a viable reason why in post form. Thread closed.
 16. This thread was almost two years old when it was brought back- I don't think the original thread creator is even still around to bother counting the awards again. Besides, I'm already dubious as to whether these threads should be allowed or not. For the moment I'm letting them stay as they aren't doing any particular harm, but if they get out of hand they'll all go. Thread closed.
 17. There's a thread almost exactly like this situated here. Please check for existing threads before starting a new one. Please be careful to add as much detail as you can to your posts as well, especially when answering a question such as this- there's a tendency for replies to become short and spammy. Follow the examples set by the people posting in the linked topic, heh. Thread closed.
 18. Thanks for the info, Ban_Midou. On the other hand, the rest of you seriously need to work on your post quality. This is some of the worst I've seen in a long time. Please try to add as much detail to your posts as possible, use full words and sentences where you can and check your spelling. Posts that are too short or are of unacceptable quality will be deleted and persistantly poor quality will result in you being banned from the site. It's all explained nice and clearly in the Rules section of the site. Another thing: Please be sure to check for existing threads before starting a new one, either by running a search of the forum or by looking in the nifty Official Threads Directory at the top of the forum display. There's a Saiyuki thread here for your discursive needs. Thread closed.
 19. Murasame K, please try and include more detail in your posts, especially when starting a thread about a specific anime- what is the series about, for example? What are the characters/animation like? Posts that are too short will normally be deleted as spam, but seeing as this is the first thread about this anime I've seen I'll let it stay.
 20. You may need to be more specific about what it is about the series (and which series in particular) it is that you're having problems with, otherwise there's so much unnecessarry information that could be thrown at you. Is it the storylines you want to know about? New series/sequels/movies? 'Anything' means, well... anything, heh ^_^;
 21.
i havent seen gad but for a nebie ill pick gundam anyday thats what got me into anime. Sure sometimes the story plots are identical(war between colonies and earth, one boy who stumbles on a giant robot and fights guys with weird masks) If its so bad y do they keep making gundam. Get my point.
gundamimpali, please try and improve your post quality. Be sure to at least check through your spelling before submitting, anyway. I really don't wish to sound harsh, but I don't think this thread can be given much more discursive tact than what's already been given. Besides, having hundreds of comparison threads such as this just isn't practical in a single anime forum if there isn't a larger scope for drawing argument and reason from. Thread closed.
 22. Thanks for the information, Jung-Wo. Welcome to OtakuBoards, PikaSurf. Please be aware that OtakuBoards has certain rules regarding post quality, and they should be adhered to. Please be sure to use proper spelling and grammar where appropriate, and try to break the post into sensible segments- you don't need to press 'Enter' after every line, for instance. Also, please be sure that any threads you start have a definite topic that can be discussed. After all, that is what the forum's for ^_~ As this is, I don't think it will get any further. However, if you want information on the scheduling of anime on various cable channels, there's a Sticky thread about Cartoon Network etc's line-ups near the top of the main form display. Thread closed. If you have any further questions, feel free to send a PM.
 23.
ya but then we would have to go around are laws which is not easy to do and u know that i want new anime shows just as much as u do but the laws are killing us:animeangr
malganis, please try and work on your post quality- this is incredibly hard to understand and incoherent, especially without full stops as divisions. Please use proper spelling (including typing words out in full) and grammar wherever possible. Not only does it make things nicer and easier to read, anything of too poor a quality will be deleted as spam, as per the Rules.
 24.
No way!!!!!!!!! Anime will NEVER die!!!!!!!!!! As long as there are dedicated fans, Anime will never stop being made, so it will never die!
Unfortunately it's not so much the dedication of the fans but the number who are willing to actually pay for it, as opposed to downloading or buying DVDs from pirate companies. There was an interesting article in the UK's Daily Telegraph newspaper about how if Miyazaki retires, then there'd be no forerunner left in the anime industry. Here's the bones of the story:
Industry experts say that not only is there a dearth of talent on a par with Miyazaki, but the overall standard of animators has fallen over the past decade as low pay and poor working conditions force many to quit. For the animator, starting pay can be as low as £300 a month without benefits. Thy are often paid at a pound per page, a rate that has not risen in 20 years. Producing 15 pages a day is no easy feat for a beginner, meaning 12-hour days and six-day weeks are the norm... reality often bites as animators reach their thirties, by which time they typically earn around a third of the average pay for Japanese their age and at lower hourly rates then supermarket clerks. More and more animation work is now outsourced to cheaper countries such as South Korea, China and India. This has led to a hollowing out of talent in Japan and the end of the in-house production system, where people mastered each element of the process as they worked their way up from the bottom. - Colin Joyce, Daily Telegraph

Anime is, by definition, from Japan, but it's only a matter of time before the number of foreign contributors tips the balance, and what used to be anime becomes plain old cartoons. It may ultimately remove much of what makes anime appeal to its current foreign audience base: its exoticism. - Johnathan Clements, co-author of the Anime Encyclopedia
I thought the article was very interesting, heh. Although Ghibli is not by far the only animation studio in Japan, it does seem to be the major gateway for feature-length anime movies in the Western market. It's almost equivelent to Disney, in a way. Although the progression to fully computer-animated films hasn't been made there yet, thankfully.
 25. Guys, please be mindful of your post quality. Quite a few posts in here are spam or close to- if it continues in this way I'll have to close the thread.
:D i think inuyasha movie 2 is good but inuyasha movie 3 is much better :D
inuyashasluva91, this post is far too short. Please add more detail in future. Posts that are too short will be deleted as spam. Everyone, please use spoiler tags ([*spoiler][*/spoiler] without the *s) when explaining something about the film that might potentially ruin the viewing suspense for people that haven't yet seen it.
