1.
I was wondering everyone out there who watch anime. Do yo know what animes came on Toonami and Adult swim in the past. Also explain if you like or dislike the anime for some reason and why. Last also give a description of the anime too for people who forgot or never saw the anime before and tell if the anime came on Toonami or Adult Swim.
Kamui, I merged your thread with the one already existing about shows that used to be on TV, as they're so incredibly similar that only the technicality of the question's keeping them apart. And there are threads already available to talk about the animes specifically, heh.
 2. I'm not actually too enthralled by the prospect of an enhanced MapMaker- I never really used it in TS2 and when I did the game always decided to crash. There was a magazine that tried to re-create Goldeneye's Facility level in TS2 form but I could never get it to work properly. But if it's improved, then all the better ^_^ I guess I'm most excited about this simply because it's a TS game update- I loved the second one and still really enjoy the multiplayer- seeing better graphics, more weapons and characters can only be a good thing, heh. And the chance to ride in vehicles with other people seems really fun as well. I guess Halo has a lot to answer for in that respect.
 3.
i first started watching anime at the age of eleven. but stuff like gundam and fist of the north satar have only just arived in england, and things like evangelion have not arrived at all. major suckiness...
Unfortunately you've missed the boat somewhat- all of these series have been out in the UK for quite some time- the original Fist of the North Star movie has been out on video for at least ten years and the entire Evangelion series has been shown on the Sci-Fi channel, although they never show it any more. Gundam Wing and the Endless Waltz OVA were all aired on Toonami before, but that's about it. They even showed Cowboy Bebop. The chances of anything like that happening again are very slim, though. I first started (although I didn't know it) on the original dub of Castle in the Sky when I was incredibly young. I didn't understand it very well but I remember thinking it was quite scary. I pretty much forgot about anime as a style (well, unless you include US programmes animated by Japanese production teams and the French series Mysterious Cities of Gold) until Pokemon hit the UK like a slap in the face. From there I evolved to Digimon, Cardcaptors and managed to catch things like Nadesico, Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 and Evangelion when they were aired. That was about the time my anime collection started, too- I bought Princess Mononoke on DVD and was absolutely amazed, heh. And through joining OB I've found out about many other anime series that have been worth watching- Trigun, RahXephon, Last Exile... all good stuff.
 4.
Hello im new to the site :)
Welcome to OtakuBoards, misao. We're glad to have you, heh. but please avoid posts like that in future- just get straight into the topic and start discussing things. Introductory threads and posts have been avoided at OB for a long time, as they tended to generate a fair amount of spam. People will get to know you as you post. Be sure to read the Rules and FAQ pages, and if you have any further questions feel free to send a PM.
 5. Welcome to OtakuBoards, DragonMaster. Please note that threads created specifically for the purposes of advertising other sites without any discursive intent will be closed as spam. If there's a site in particular you wish to discuss, the best place for it would be the PC/Mac forum or the Web Site Workshop. Otherwise, sites that you want to advertise should stay in your signature only. The Rules should explain this- if you have any further questions, feel free to send a PM. Thread closed.
 6. I was going to close this thread until I saw Kaze's reply. If you are going to post in a thread such as this please make sure you have sufficient detail in your replies- everything else is as near to spam as it can get. Give reasons why you'd like to see these shows again. Any more replies which are poor in length or quality will lead to the thread being closed.
 7. Please try and include more detail when starting a thread next time, graysky07. You've not even mentioned which animes you'd like to see back, or any examples of animes which have been taken off the air that perhaps shouldn't have been. I'll leave this open so long as it's able to get some really detailed replies, but bear in mind that you'll only get out of a thread what you put into it yourself.
 8. The 'rarest' one in that list is probably Shinzo if only because it was shown at such a silly time (and with good reason, I think); but bearing in mind the programmes the UK channels get are basically controlled by whatever shows the US companies buy up, the chances are anything shown in the UK will already have been seen many times in the US and Japan. They used to show Cowboy bebop, now the most 'respectable' anime aired is Outlaw Star (i.e. has not been butchered by dub companies and/or isn't directly aimed at kids). The only exceptions would be the ones they used to show late at night on the Sci-Fi channel. I was really annoyed I missed Roujin Z, as I'd heard it was pretty good, and sounded interesting. I'm really not a fan of old, obscure animes. I watched Megazone 13 and The Winds of Amnesia and wasn't very impressed. Macross Plus was very very good, but that's not really unknown. Aside from that, the most enjoyable non-mainstream anime I've seen (and that isn't saying a great deal) has been Blue Gender, but even then that had a decent run in the US...
 9. This has already been addressed in this thread here, to which I respond with this quote:
It is that person's opinion. What articles/information do you have to site that Bush wants to ban anime besides hearing it on another website? Are there news articles? Newpaper articles? Where is the proof that Bush wants to ban anime in the United States? I think before we light our torches and storm the castle we need to know that he really does feel that way.
Please calm down; it's not going to happen. In any case, asking people to submit their real names on a public website is a breach of confidenitality, and creating threads for the purposes of advertisement or solicitation are against OtakuBoards' Rules anyway. If you want to include a link to a site with useful, constructive information about this subject then you're more than welcome to put it in your signature. Thread closed. If you have any further questions, feel free to send a PM.
 10. I'm willing to give this thread one more chance only. Please include reasons as to why you would choose these specific items to have and please try and present your posts as best you can. Some of them are getting a little sloppy. As for myself, I guess it would be nice to have Kenshin Himura's Reverse-Blade Sword and his fighting skills to go with it. I'm sure I'd still get arrested for carrying it around with me, but at least if I did have to defend myself then I could do it without necessarily killing anyone. As much as I like to fantastise about being in combat situations, I don't want to hurt anyone that badly. I just love the exercise. Along similar lines, I'd really like to be able to have Kenshin's physical abilities- the Hiten Mitsurugi relies on 'god-like speed', apparently, so it' be nice to be able to move and execute attacks as quickly as he does. The way he can jump so incredibly high in the air and land without so much as spraining an ankle would be really useful, too. The only other thing I really want is Seto Kaiba's big white sleeveless jacket (albeit slightly less stylised, perhaps). I've not seen any like that before, and I think I'd look pretty good in it, heh. I'd have to have some inside pockets in order for it to be practical enough for me to wear but hopefully that wouldn't be too much of a problem.
 11.
Well, the exact same topic came up in another forum I go(no, not the girls and the cookies part, the justice part) I'm not from U.S., so I'll just recite what one of the people said because it bothers me so A man put a fire insurance on his cigarettes, but within a few weeks, before the insurance company had finished all the paperwork and stuff like that, that man had already used up those cigarettes. He sued the insurance company...and won
I heard about that one; the insurance company then sued the man afterwards for the willful destruction of insured property or something like that to get their money back. Either way, it's a ridiculous waste of money to have to go through a fiasco like that just because someone wants to try and get filthy rich. As far as I'm concerned, I think if someone's willing to break the law then they should have no legal standpoint with which to sue their victims. Human rights I can understand, but they shouldn't then be able to use the legal system that they seemed so eager to break to their own advantage afterwards.
 12.
Hellsing : Darkness
Please try and add more detail to your posts in future, Parusa- as this stands, this was too short and had to be deleted as spam. I understand that you're new and may not be used to this, but if you could look over the Rules things should become clearer. If you have any questions, feel free to send a PM.
 13.
1) Alucards Hellsing ARM 454 Casull Auto "Joshua" (Hellsing) 2) The pendant of Boogiepop (Boogiepop Phantom) 3) The cape of Meijer (Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust)
Welcome to OtakuBoards, Parusa ^_^ While I appreciate you're trying to bring something new to the discussion, generally when a thread like this is created the least we ask people to do is provide a reason for your choices. That way the posts don't end up being boring or spammy, heh. Also, this is an incredibly old thread- unless it's about a specific anime, threads older than about a month or so have generally run their natural course (that is, until someone creates another one...). I'll keep it up for a while in case it generates any more interest, but if the replies aren't any good then I'll close it.
 14. Whatever it'd be, I doubt it'd be a Cowboy Bebop sequel. There's no need to really make another one. If anything was to be continued it'd be Big O, but I reckon they'll try and go for something new and original to try and catch people's attention. Hopefully, it'll also add to an increase of new animes being dubbed and broadcast (or at least brought to DVD) in the Western markets. The UK's still only getting the very bare bones of an anime collection- Cowboy Bebob Volume 1 just hit our shelves, and even then there's precious little else to be able to buy- even if a series is available you'll be bloody lucky to find a video store which has anything of worth. But I think this'll be an interesting venture- I've no idea whether it'll be good or bad but I don't think it's fair to suggest that just because America's involved it'll somehow 'taint' the project. After all, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away wouldn't have had the US releases they did without Miramax. Not all American companies or evil or crap...
 15. Well, here's some info on Itochu Corp:
ITOCHU Corporation, Ishimori Shotaro Pro Inc. (copyright holder of famous Manga author Shotaro Ishinomori's works), one of the major Manga productions in Japan, and Ishimori Pro Inc. have signed an agreement to establish Ishimori Entertainment Inc., a joint venture company that introduces the so-called "Ishimori World" to its fans. ITOCHU will hold 49% of its shares, Ishimori Pro and Ishimori Shotaro Pro will own 41% and 10%, respectively. The new company, Ishimori Entertainment Inc., is planning to produce movies, TV programming, publications, and to develop merchandising business based on the titles of Shotaro Ishinomori. Ishimori Entertainment aims to achieve a turnover of 1.5-2.0 billion Yen every year. Up until now, Ishinomori Manga has entertained many Manga fans for over 45 years. Shotaro Ishinomori's works consist of more than 300 titles, including his most important works such as"MASKED RIDER", "Cyborg009", "HOTEL", "KIKAIDER", and "GORENGER". In particular, MASKED RIDER is one of the most popular heroes among the children in Japan. At present, ITOCHU has developed and expanded its contents business through Sky PerfecTV!, Space Shower TV, and Excite. Also, ITOCHU has strengthened its focus on the field of consumer and retail related markets through Family Mart and brand business. ITOCHU regards this alliance as a big step to produce and distribute entertainment contents both in the Japanese and overseas markets. Investment amount of this project will be approximately 5 billion Yen over the next 5 years.
So that's what that means, pretty much. And Time Warner broadcasts (or have broadcasted) Pilot Candidate, Sailor Moon and Yu Yu Hakusho. Specific details about what kind of anime it would be haven't been released yet but judging by their histories, my guess would be some kind of sci-fi action thing.
 16.
I can't understand why.
Well, if you're looking at things in terms of cost, it'll probably cost more to try and design, produce and market a line of toys than finance the anime itself; considering the amount of projects one studio may be working on at one particular time it may just not be feasible. On the other hand, if they were going to risk creating a figure they'd have to make sure it was going to bring enough revenue to make the venture worthwhile. That is, is the anime series popular and wide-reaching enough to warant making the stuff in the first place? As good as a particular series may be, unless it's actually huge (either big enough to sustain itself and its own franchise in Japan or if it reaches Western markets) it's unlikely you'll get more than the odd singular figure or art statue. It's a shame, though- I'd love to have a set of Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040 Hardsuits, or a Generator Gawl action figure, heh.
 17. The only Tachikomas I could see as figures were part of a set of mini-statues, and that was on only one site out of... many. Most of them just had statues of the female lead (I can't remember her name, heh). It annoys me when figures aren't made of certain anime series, or specific things in certain anime series. Maybe it's just because I'm a toy fanatic but I think there are a lot of mechs, creatures and vehicles that would look fantastic as toys/kits/art statues, but alas, they never seem to appear. Mind you, a lot of the proportions on anime mech/creature designs would leave for incredbly weak limb joints...
 18.
He means it takes 99 years for them to become declassified. Other than that, I really don't have any rock-solid evidence.
Originally it was only fifty years, but in JFK's case it'll take until 2013 for all of the evidence to be fully available. At least, that's what I'd gathered. But I could be (and probably am) wrong. I find the idea that it's a hoax less believeable than the idea that it really happened. It just seems entirely impractical, and what would it have made subsequent space journeys if it wasn't real?
 19. Here you go, heh. It was in the Official Threads Directory- the first port of call for finding out if an anime series has a thread devoted to it -under 'S'. If you do want to start a thread about an anime in future, be sure to include more details on the series itself so people know for sure which it is you want to discuss, heh ^_~ Thread closed.
 20.
we need one more thing, unfortunately, which is a way for the Titan to be defeated. a classic anime catyclismic explosion with all the combined character abilities was a first idea. is that too original? Thank You! :)
Simply combining everyone's attacks seems far too easy an escape route to me- if he's this all-encompassing evil then I'm sure it'd take more than that to get rid of him. And it seems a bit of an anticimax too, to be honest. But then I haven't really got anything else to suggest. I'd try and think of a way of using the characters' abilities to exploit weaknesses in his defenses and try and get him that way, rather than having an incredibly generic 'huge explosion'. It's not as if he even has to be killed, you know. Think about what the point of your story is and what kind of values you want to put across- that'll determine how you should finish it, and also should be affecting how you write it in the first place.
 21. A good place to start may be to tell people what kind of manga you're hoping to create- genre, style, what kinds of characters will be involved, and also what sort of things you're having problems with. Then everyone will be better equipped to suggest things to you. In the mean time, I'd suggest taking a look at other threads here and see if they give you any ideas as to what you need to do. Try and put a little more substance into posts in future as well, please- posts that are too short or are of too low a quality (i.e. not using decent enough grammar, spelling and punctuation) will be deleted as spam.
 22. I think that's more than enough now. Considering there was no age warning on the site I presumed it was going to be pretty tame, but now I don't think it's at all appropriate for a general audience. Thread closed.
 23.
My feelings on this holiday change a lot, heh. I've never been in any sort of relationship around St. Valentine's Day, but I've never felt bitter or lonely about it, heh. It's never something I've been looking for. I'm okay with that.
Same here, x'ept I do tend to feel relatively bitter about it, heh. I suppose I dislike it in a similar way I do Christmas- it's just the huge amounts of merchandising that get shoved in your face by all the shops. I hate commercialisation, especially when it's so disgustingly saccharin. Roses are pretty, chocolate tastes alright in moderation but I'd rather not be coerced into buying something for someone if I don't have to, especially if they should know I appreciate and love them already. The best Valentine's Day memory I have is when a female friend of mine bought me a rose for being such a good friend to her. That's something I really appreciated, although it did draw a few eyes since she was someone else's girlfriend ^_^; I guess it's because I'm always showing my affection for people, helping them and trying to get noticed as a decent friend that I feel cheapened that Valentine's Day seems to have been delegated the single day to approach it all. Perhaps actually being in a relationship will change my mind, but I doubt it. I'm not saying that a celebration of love is a bad thing, but I hate the cutesy-poo that comes with it.
 24.
It's movement of the live-feed that gave it away: too "forced" to be a girl, and what's being forced is too girly to be a girl moving (I actually have a friend who moves like this, and he's a gay guy). Also, that room wasn't the girliest of places. A tech-head for a girl? Psh. *runs away*[/size']
Not only that, but the body suit 'she' is wearing covers her entire body- I'm sure if it was a girl she wouldn't bother wearing something over the top of it all (although there's a difference between wearing a costume for everyone to see and exhibitionism...). And 'her' shoulders look too masculine, in my opinion. But it seems the kind of thing a man would actually do, you know? If a woman were playng a female anime character she could just cosplay in front of a webcam- why bother putting on a huge plastic facemask to show your female character if you're female anyway?
 25.
I've heard, or said, that Love is caring about someone else more than yourself, but I think that definition needs a second part: and trusting the other person to feel the same way. (And, I think, they do need to feel the same way.) I think that's a valid way of putting it, whether you denote that by "true" love, agape[/i'] or some other term. I suppose the idea that the feeling is returned has more to do with relationship than individual love.
But you can still love something unequivocally even if it's not fully requited. I guess a love for something can't be properly expressed in its entirety unless there's something going to be given in return and you certainly need that in order for it to actualy succeed, but the feelings could still be there. Having said that, as I've been writing this post I've changed my mind ^_^; Although as I see it it's not so much trusting the other person to feel the same way, but more trying to evoke their feelings of appreciation for you- reassuring the requitement, as it were.
"Love" itself is very broad in English. I love ice cream, I love my family members, I love my friends. I don't feel the same way about all of them, heh. But Love, in the sense that people usually try to define, is unconditional. The idea that, despite anything (and possibly everything) your feelings for this person would remain unchanged.
The problem I've found with love is that it's not a static concept. It's a very dynamic feeling that encompasses many different aspects of humanity and personality. As a feeling, I'd say that when you don't have it, you don't notice it. But when you are in love it affects you deeply and completely.
Here's a simple way of putting it: [b']Anything you'd die for, you love.
I think that's too broad a statement, personally. People are willing to die to protect their country and suicide bombers have been brought up to kill themselves to get rid of their enemies, but it's a different kind of love to that you experience with another person. Anyone you'd die for, you love might be a better way of putting it. But even then I'd be willing to sacrifice myself for a number of my friends but I don't love them all in the same way.
