I don't understand what it is you're asking for. All I see here is a general witch-hunt, which frankly annoys me far more than any state of particular topics. You're talking about ChibiHorsewoman as if she isn't even a real person, and that I find to be more offensive. I know I would be if I were her. If you don't like a topic, there's no obligation for you to post in it or even read it. Nobody's forcing you to do anything like that. And there's nothing to stop people from starting their own topics if they think what's there is insufficient.

Welcome to OtakuBoards, CatGirl and Sankyuu. First things first- there is a Yu Yu Hakusho thread here for your delectation and discursive purposes. Please be sure to check for existing threads before starting a new one, either by checking the Official Threads Directory Sticky at the top of the forum display or by running a search of the forum itself. Either way, just because you can't see an anime discussion on the first page doesn't mean it's not there, heh. Secondly, please try and be more coherent with your posts, Sankyuu and CatGirl. Post quality is highly regarded at OB and a failure to comply with the guidelines set out in the Rules could result in a ban from the site. That said, if you have any further questions, feel free to send me or any other staff member a PM. Thread closed.

There's a thread about Read or Die here. It's not even very far away form the top of the forum display, heh. Please make sure to check for existing topics before starting a new one, either by checking the Official Threads Directory Sticky or by running a search of the forum itself. Repeated threads are spam, unfortunately. Also, if you're starting a thread about an anime, it's much appreciated to have the anime's name in the thread title so that everyone knows what it is you're talking about. Not a site rule as such, but it does make things easier for everyone who browses the forum. Thread closed.

Yes, due to the site's Rules nobody would be able to help you answer the question by posting here. If it's a technical issue with the program you're using to download things, as Dan Rugh said it's far better to take it up with them, as they'll know more what could be causing the problem and might be able to help you fix it. The Samurai X OVAs are widely available to buy on DVD. I'd suggest buying them rather than trying to download them, but I'm rather stalwart when it comes to things like that. In future, if you want to talk about a particular anime (although not about how to download it), please check the forum for existing threads first. Kenshin has a thread here, and Samurai X (i.e. the Kenshin OVAs) has one here. Thread closed- unfortunately it just can't be answered here.

Discuss OtakuBoards: Enter the Game [Could it work?]
Solo Tremaine replied to Jokopoko's topic in Theater
I've not actually finished Enter the Net yet (i've just been slacking off >.>), but I love the conceptualization of what the site actually looks like. That's something I'd not been able to put much thought into and this sounds absolutely great. Lovely lovely ideas ^___^ But (and this is what I said when someone else said they wanted to make an RPG out of Enter the Net)- I would suggest caution when you're essentially roleplaying as yourselves. You'd be surprised how many people have told/asked me to do RPGs based on it, actually. I've been cautious to thus far; they could probably work well but it'd need a fair amount of work to make sure everything fitted together all right. For one thing, the relations between people on the actual boards and the same represented characters in an RPG would be different, but trying to put them into a spontaneous fictional context might be difficult. I'd suggest taking a look at the Otaku Big Brother II thread in the Event Arena for an idea on how something like that might work. That's probably a better example to follow, heh. You're welcome to start an RPG on anything you want- I certainly won't stand in your way, as it seems you've put a great deal of thought into it. I'd just advise being careful when it's something that's so relevant and wide-reaching with regards to its audience and participants, heh. -
With Super Mario Bros 3 as part of Super Mario All-Stars on my SNES, I seem to remember this being one of the 2-Player modes of Multiplayer- you basically battled each other until you died as far as I remember, and there wasn't anything else to it than that. I actually didn't like it too much, heh ^_^;. I hardly ever played on it. Since I has Super Mario Kart at the time, that took over most of my multiplayer time.

Knuckles slid onto the ground from the back of Keita's bike. His lower back hurtui considerably, even though it was one of the nicest bikes he'd evereen in these parts. "I guess even Shadow T Hedgehog's personal assisstant can't get a bike with two seats when she needs it," he spat, carefully rubbing his sacroiliac. He wasn't entirely convinced that she was who put herself out to be. He was met with a disdainful snort. "You weren't who I was expecting to see." Upon setting eyes upon his house, she immediately wished she'd been more forceful about where they held their discussion. "This also wasn't what I was expecting to see." "What do you want, a fucking mansion?" he scowled, remembering that he didn't even have a front door any more. Ushering her in, he pulled the piece of rotten wood that used to be his only barrier from his front room to the pavement and propped it against the opening. He sat on his bed, clipping open a can of drink from the floor next to him. He produced another from underneath his bed and offered it to her. The blank expression on her face indicated a distinct 'No', so Knuckles returned it. "So, how long have you been Schafer's whore?" Keita twitched slightly, almost in disbelief at what she heard. "What?" she said eventually. Knuckles took a swig of his drinkand planted it firmly on the floor, scattering drops of the liquid over the mud-encrusted carpet. "That's what you're here for, right? To make sure I follow up with his end of the deal. There's no way anyone from HedgeTech would be interested in seeing me at the same moment he does- I don't buy it for a second!" he yelled. Keita said nothing, but simply stared at him with a look of unimpressed bewilderment. "You can tell that fat fuck that I'll follow his orders as he wants and then you can screw him for all I care. I'm not going to be fucking tricked again!" The red-skinned echidna stared at Keita, his eyes filled with contemptuous hate. After a tense silence broken only by his rasped breaths, he started at her tiny laugh. "And here I was thinking you actually had a brain," she scoffed. He made to move towards her, but her authoritative gaze stopped him in his tracks. "Sit down! I don't think you realise the position that you're in," she growled, idly flicking the check for ten thousand into his view. He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. "Fine!" he roared. "What do you want?" Keita sat down again, her outward composure eerily calm. Knuckles was almost snorting in disgust with each breath, barely able to contain his contempt for what she was out to say. "Ragerdss of what you may think, I do work for Shadow. And don't flatter yourself by thinking I was coming for you. You just happen to have landed yourself in something far bigger than you comprehend." "I landed myself in it? You-" "Hear me out!" she said, barely raising her voice but filling it with a malice dangerous enough to silence him. "I know what Schafer asked of you for tomorrow night, and I want to know the exact details he gave you." "The deatails he gave me were to rendez-vous with a HedgeTech truck tomorrow night- I don't know where or when or even where to take the fucking thing- he's calling the fight club tomorrow afternoon at two and if I'm not there he'll have my fucking ass! Got it? Is that fucking clear now?" Keita gave him a wry smile. "That's good. Now, I want to ask you something else." Knuckles was shaking with rage, his murderous gaze fixed to her. "How much has he offered you?" "My freedom." Knuckles hissed. A look of revulsion spread over Keita's face. "You really think he'll follow up on that?" Knuckles said nothing, but felt his insides constricting with apprehension. "I can offer you more than just your freedom. I'm sure we could find a posiiton for you somewhere in HedgeTech. With a big publicity event coming up soon, Shadow's sure to need a strong bodyguard. And it's a permanent opening..." She wandered over to the door, casting his cheque for ten thousand credits on the floor. "That was the advance." She scribbled out another and kept the chequebook in front of her, looking pointedly to him. "What was your name?" "Knuckles."

I've noticed it too, and it really annoys me. I've noticed that some MyOtaku sites that rise high up the rankings are those which just have hundreds of pictures and/or quizzes. I've been overtaken by someone who'd been registered and posted for one day, and even then there was nothing written anywhere on the site. It frustrates me- not that the rankings have much bearing on the sites that i visit anyway, but I think those who are most popular should get credit for actually being so. I looked at a site that enables you to send fake traffic to sites and they said that their software's designed to be almost identical to genuine electronic signatures, so it's incredibly hard to distinguish them from actual users, and hence to filter them. That said, those with a lot of fanart climb up high too, presumably because people who see their pictures go on to look at their profile. But I've found at times that my visit counter won't rise by anything even when I know I've had at least three people visit and comment on a post I wrote. I'd be interested to know how it works- not so I could abuse it, but just to understand why some hits don't register. It's pointlessly superficial to try and get yourself into high rankings for the sake of it. If nobody visits your site then all you're doing is lying to yourself by increasing your hit count artificially. I suppose people could use a percantage ranking thing in the same way that fanart has, but that seems to be abused by jealous people a lot >.>

I'm closing this thread. I'm shocked at how spammy these replies are getting. Welcome to OtakuBoards, Deneb ^_^ Please be aware that we only tend to have one thread per specific anime, as mentioned in the "How to Post in the Anime Lounge" Sticky at the top of the page. You can check for existing topics either by looking through the Official Threads Directory that Dagger so kindly spent so many hours working on, or by running a Search of the forum itself using the option at the top. Anyway, the existing Azumanga Daioh thread is here. Thread closed.

Welcome to OtakuBoards, rurouni2. Unfortunately (and it's nothing personal), but I'm going to close this thread because it's been done dozens of times before and each time it's led to the same conclusion: poor, undetailed posts and a lack of actual discussion. If nothing else, you should ask people to explain why you think they're the cutest, but even then it doesn't leave a huge scope for interesting debate. Thread closd. If you have any questions, feel free to send a PM to me or any member of Staff you like, heh.

It's great to see The Daily Otaku back again ^_^ I loved all of the articles in it- this latest one especially, heh. Ah, it's hard for me to describe what it is exactly I like about it when it all seems so perfect. You've really got the tabloid style down and it's incredibly funny to read. Great stuff!

Anime Anime/Manga pairings least likely to succeed
Solo Tremaine replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Otaku Central
The first is Matt and Sora[/b'] from Digimon. I don't know, I really think Sora should have been with Tai instead. They just seemed to go so well together :(
Now that was originally going to be my first choice, but after thinking about it for a few minutes (yes, that long >.>) I don't think Matt and Sora are to bad a couple. I'd prefer Tai and Sora to be together, because on the whole I prefer Tai and his interaction with Sora- I wondered if, like in one of the Christmas episodes that Sora was just infatuated with Matt because he's becoming a rock star. But that's all speculation, and really too far out of the series' parameters, heh ^_^; Speaking of Digimon, I dislike the inferred relationship that people connect between Renamon and Impmon and Veemon and Gatomon. I like Renamon too much and don't like Veemon's character enough for those to work, heh. Needless to say, I read very few fanfics as a result of my own specific views on the characters and what they should be like and do. I'd get too angry at the pairings, too >.> Clef and Umi in Magic Knight Rayearth annoys me, too. Clef is hundreds of years old and the size of a small boy- I'd have thought he'd be too intelligent to fall for Umi. I'm not saying that Umi isn't a good character, but putting the characters on their own just seems wrong. Ascott likes Umi far more anyway, and
Sierra fancies Clef
anyway. Since everyone else in the series was methodically paired off with their female equivalent (except Alcyone), I thought it would make more sense to just puch the other loose ends together. But meh, perhaps that's too formulaic. After all, it's not very original to have every character falling in love with another one, unless you're going for an anime Dawson's Creek. -
I think your best bet would be FanFiction.net- there are literally thousands of stories there. Granted not all of them are good and I can guarantee that there'll be a good proportion of Mary-Sues, but there'd have to be some decent ones there as well. It's filtering through them that gets laborious, heh ^_^; But they all have genres and ratings, so it's not too hard. Unfortunately I've not even seen Rouroni Kenshin, let alone read any fanfics to reccommend. I wish you good luck with your quest. Thread closed- FanFiction.net will give you more than enough to look at. If anyone knows of any specific good fanfics, I'm sure they'll PM you about them ^_^

Anime Question RE: Naruto / ninjas-in-general...
Solo Tremaine replied to tattoi nobori's topic in Otaku Central
I've seen samurai characters do it, too. I can think of a number of reasons: 1) Perspective. Drawing them in that way, certainly showing them from the front gives a greater sense of speed than running normally- the head is up close while the rest of the body is further away, which also gives scope for any dialogue that might be occurring- the facial features can be drawn in detail and the rest can be pretty much forgotten, heh. 2) Momentum. If you run like that, you're pretty much falling forwards at quite a high speed, which makes for a rather powerful, if reckless maneouvre. I don't think I've seen any anime characters who charge like that actually come off better. -
This gets a little graphic, so be warned. Redemption Crash. The trash cans rumbled into the street like grounded thunder, spreading their festering contents over the wet tarmac. Startled, a cat leapt underneath a car for safety, watching a bulky figure pick himself up from the ground and sprint clumsily down the deserted street, gasping heavily. The man's feet hit the ground hard- each running step pushed painfully into his knees, his overweight torso further increasing the impact he felt every time he moved. But he couldn't stop. He had to keep moving. Rounding a corner and almost falling into the road, he desperately scanned the area ahead for a place to hide. A tiny, almost invisible alleyway opened itself up to him as he ran past. Doubling back on himself so quickly he could feel his leg muscles stretch under the strain, he dived inside the narrow, pitch-black gap. Crawling forwards, he positioned himself behind a dustbin and waited. What did he want? How could one person kill all those people? Beads of sweat cascaded down his face, stinging his eyes and blurring his vision. He wiped his quivering form with his bloodied sleeve, trying to curb his movements and terrified breathing as much as possible. Each panicked breath he took felt like like a blade running across his throat. The taste of blood burned in his mouth. He felt as if he would throw up any second. Suddenly, his body constricted, terror flowing through every inch of his body. Footsteps. He grabbed his knees and pulled them tightly towards his body, forming the smallest possible shape he could. Could he have followed him this far? The footsteps grew louder. Oh god, was he in the alleyway? Just leave. Please, leave me alone. I don't want to die. He listened further- the footsteps had stopped. Had they gone? Where were they? After minutes of staying completely still, rooted to his hiding place like a statue, he tilted his head the tiniest fraction in the direction of the road. He could see steam rising from the manhole covers and felt the faint touch of rain in the air. The alleyway seemed safe. The still air carried no sounds from the distance. Slowly, he slumped forwards and started raising himself to his feet. If he could make it to a police station, he'd be safe. He had to be safe. Pausing for a moment, his mind raced through the safest route he should take. The image of the police station's lights fixed itself firmly in his mind- a haven where he could be protected from this silent killer. In an instant, he sprang forwards and careened into the street. A dull 'thud' hit his ears as he felt an object impact into his stomach, bringing his body to a complete stop and pushing it to the pavement. To his left stood a figure dressed in black, a long black trenchcoat swirling into the darkness. The man's eyes widened with fear at the visage that towered over him. "You..." he croaked. The tall figure said nothing, but leant down and clamped its hand around the man's throat, hauling him into the air. The other hand was wrapped confidently around the steely handle of a gun, glinting coldly in the dim light. The gun clicked as it was raised towards the man's forehead and pressed hard against his skull. It quaked, almost imperceptibly The figure's deep voice was filled with cold menace and painful emotion. "You killed her." "I-I don't know who you're talking about! Please, just let me go, I haven't done anything to you!" "LIAR!" the man screamed, pushing the gun even further into the horrified face of his captive. "You drove her to die, you deserve far worse than she ever did." "You... you mean..." The tall man growled with rage and flung the other man to the ground, pressing his arm against his throat. "Andrea! You killed Andrea, you bastard!" The man tried to look away, horrified fear completely engulfing his entire body. "I-" "She didn't deserve the hell you put her through. She was-" "Sh-she was a whore." the man whimpered. "She knew what she was getting herself into. It-it was her ch-choice!" Bang. The bullet ricocheted off the tarmac and into the darkness. "How dare you talk about her like that?! She had a life ahead of her- I could have given her what she wanted and you... you KILLED HER!" He grabbed the man's windpipe and wrenched him into the air again. The man's voice was a barely audible rasp. "I-I-I didn't know she was doing anything!" the man's voice with wraught with panic. "If I had, I'd have stopped her. Please, I tried to save her!" Without saying a word, the man in the trenchcoat rocked his body backwards and catapulted the man into the metal fence opposite him. The man hit it with a sickening crunch and slumped to the ground, blood pouring from his nose. The man struggled to raise his head- all he could see were the heavy boots of the coated man marching calculatedly towards him. Run! His mind screamed at him to move, but his limbs wouldn't respond. His breathing was slowly being engulfed by rivers of blood seeping down his throat. The darkness around him began to fall inwards... He heard the click of the gun inches from his face. "You never cared for her. If you had, you'd have let her leave with me. You deserve to die for the misery you put her through." The man tried to reply, but only spat mouthfuls of blood from his lips. "You drove us apart by fuelling her stupid obsessions. You took away her hope, her security- everything that made her beautiful you completely destroyed." The man vomited a mixture of blood, sweat and stomach acid onto his shirt, his hands quivering helplessly by his sides. "But I'm not going to take away your life." The man removed the clip from his gun and let it clatter to the pavement. "I'm going to give you a new one." The man dropped his gun on the floor and produced a small blue pill from his pocket. "Well, you won't think of it as a life. But I think it will be very fitting indeed." Wrenching the man's jaw open, he thrust the pill down his throat and punched his jaw shut. The man spluttered wildly for a few seconds then collapsed to the floor, unmoving. Sirens wailed in the distance. Rising to his feet, the coated man turned to the dark alleyway and disappeared.

It's not on a channel yet- it's released on DVD. But since it's ADV it'll probably appear on the Anime Network before too long, if you have cable you can hook yourself up to it. In future Kitaro, try and add more to your posts please. This is the second time I've seen you just ask what channel a show's on- if you read through the thread the answer's probably already there for you.

You two desperately need to read over our Rules before posting again. This thread is spam. For a start, you shouldn't be double-posting. If there's something you want to add to a previous post, you can use the 'edit' button underneath. If you want to start an RPG, take a look at the threads in the Adventure Arena that explain how you do so, but this forum is for discussing anime and not for RPing about it. Please put more effort into your posts in future. Even if you did want to RP, the posts here are far below the standard that we expect- you need detail- posts that are too short will be deleted as spam in the future, so please take care to make sure there's as much in there as you can manage. To argue the Who first (since it's nearest to the Quick Reply box): If you did wake up and claim to be George W. Bush then there would be nothing to dispute it, save for the fact that a George W. Bush already exists. The fact is that you are still two separate entities in existance, and from the moment you divide you begin leading different lives. For one thing, the first Dubya would have woken up in the White House, and you're in your bedroom, which immediately starts giving you different experiences even though you may shae exatcly the same ideas, tastes, personalities and habits. With Ares/Athena, since the mind controls the body, Athena would consider herself to be Athena, since it's only her body that has changed. The philosophical argument seems sound until you put it into a real context- the fact is that she would wake up first as Athena, see her body and then start to have serious problems. She's then free to make up her own mind as to who she wants to be- mn or woman. With regards to Where, the examples you have are to do with perception- the 'reality' of the prisoners is that they're looking at shadows, but they just don't know what creates them or where they go. It doesn't create a whole new world, because it's already part of a bigger one- they're just incredibly limited as to what they actually do know about everything. If a baby grew up in a house where everyone else was in animal suits and told her that they were really weird creatures and that the rest of the world doesn't exist, she would believe it, but in term of actual physicality it's just a big front. To her, the outside world doesn't exist. But it obviously does, because it's just there, along with everyone else that might be in exactly the same situation. I really don't think there's anything more complicated to it than that. The mind and body, while usually connected, as soon as they're physically separated, become two different things. Physically speaking, Hermes isn't in one place or the other- he's in both, just not entirely in either. To him, he would believe he's in Rome, plus brain. So as a person, he's in Rome. His brain can't sense that it's not in his body if it's still connected in the same way as it would be normally. But I guess that's just being picky, heh. I don't tend to look at things in this much detail- I just get confused.

People always regard medicines as good, but ones used for the treatments of major illnesses can have major side-effects too. Too much paracetamol will kill you, and a lot of MAOI drugs used to treat neurological illnesses can have exactly the same side-effects as the symptoms they're trying to calm. A lot of anti-depressents and painkillers can lead to people becoming dependent on them, and I doubt that would change with marijuana-derived treatments. Yeah, it's supposedly not physically addictive, but when you put just an element of it into a tablet with various other agents then it's changed, and could develop the same dependency risks. It's never black and white.
But again, there are more drunk driver related accidents than there are marijuana related ones.
Only because alcohol is legal and available on a widespread basis. All you'd be doing is replacing the drink with the smokes.
When you smoke you have the ability to actually think first, and hopefully you will think and decide not to drive. I got drunk one night and I don't remember going inside, going upstairs, how I got downstairs, and many other things. But in all the times I have smoked pot, I have not once had a huge swaths of my memory gone, and I have smoked more than I ever drank before.
But you said yourself that it affected your short-term memory:
Yes it causes short-term memory loss. But really, many people just smoke and watch movies, listen to music and chill with friends. They don't do anything that requires them to remember important facts. Hell, I had problems remembering things way before I tried pot. I couldn't remember what I did a week before. Only if you do something that actually requires your attention will the short-term memory loss have a huge impact.
Do you think people who drink and drive are going to be any less responsible than those who'd smoke weed and drive?
There have been no studies to say this is true. Sorry man, I just ain't buying that it was because of weed. He is probably like the only one to get paranoid schizophrenia because of just smoking.
Again, there has been research. It doesn't say that it always causes paranoid schizophrenia, but it certainly increases the chances of its development.
Use of street drugs (marijuana/hash - cannabis, etc.) have been linked with significantly increased probability of developing schizophrenia. Psychiatrists in inner-city areas speak of cannabis being a factor in up to 80 per cent of schizophrenia cases. Researchers in New Zealand found that those who used cannabis by the age of 15 were more than three times (300%) more likely to develop illnesses such as schizophrenia. Other research has backed this up, showing that cannabis use increases the likelihood of psychosis by up to 700 per cent, and that the risk increases in proportion to the amount of canabis used (smoked or consumed). Research also suggests that there is an increased risk of relapse (i.e. risk of significant worsening of the psychosis) associated with marijuana and other street drugs. The more relapses a person has, the worse the prognosis for people with schizophrenia.
I was going to find more research into the other detrimental side effects of marijuana but I really don't know if I can be bothered. Both sides can argue till they're blue in the face, but I don't think the speculations on either side have enough proof to say conclusively which is right or not. Either way, I hope that the medicinal qualities of the drug can be enhanced, but I don't personally want it to be legalised for general use.

Anime Anime/Manga pairings least likely to succeed

LeaderShugo, please try and add more detail to your posts in future- threads like this always tend to be on tenuous ground and having short, undetailed replies don't really help. Not to mention it makes things more interesting for everyone else to read. I personally think that Asuka and Shinji from Evangelion make a bad pairing, if only because Asuka's far too demanding/awkward and Shinji's just doesn't do anything about it. And even though they spend a lot of time together and fight their battles side-by-side I don't think he's actually attracted to in any deeper form other than she is female and he is male. Neither of them seem to want to open up to their deeper feelings- if Shinji confronted them he'd only want to run away, and if Aska did Shinji probably wouldn't know what to say anyway. It's a comedy of tragic chacters, I guess ^_^; Not that I didn't like Evangelion, but when you isolate the characters from the context it just seems... silly. And I'm ignoring the movies >.> In Digimon, I don't like the Davis and Kari pairing idea, primarily because I don't like Davis. It is mean that everyone else seems to enjoy taking advantage of his lack of brain cells, but it's his own fault really... somehow. I think TK knows and understands Kari far more than Davis ever would anyway, and that's a better basis for a relationship. -

Please be aware of the site Rules- although your post is an alright length, the coherency is pretty strained and is coming close to spam. Please try and make sure your replies remain on-topic and as detailed as you can manage in future, heh.
