SessSlave and DarkMark- please try and make sure your posts have as much detail as you can put into them- they're close to being spam at the moment. You might need to include more information as to which episode it was DarkMark (e.g. which it came after, what night it was), in order for people to help more. If people see the post tomorrow, you'll get the wrong episode summary.

Nice ^_^ I like woodwork, heh. Especially when it's used in interesting ways. last time I made a box, although it looked alright it was a very ordinary square affair, with leather bits. It'd be nice with some kind of finish- maybe a wood stain or french polish, something like that. I love the rich, dark browns of wood; not to mention it'll match the lid handle a bit better.

We already have a Rurouni Kenshin thread here. Be sure to check for existing anime threads before starting a new one. There's a big list in the Official Threads Directory Sticky at the top of the forum, or if you're in any doubt, run a search. Thread closed.

Seeing as there isn't much of a way to discuss the technicalities of hentai in this forum and any real hentai topics would be extremely restricted, I'd direct all sensible hentai discussion to this thread. I'll also remind members that any kind of inappropriate posts will result in an immediate ban. Thread closed.

For the record, Forgery in the context of the RPG is the art of making things out of metal, e.g. swords, armour, mechs. It's not illegal duplication of documents, which would be a rather odd thing to twin with metalwork o_o; -
The peak time seems to b around March each year, or certainly during the holidays. But due to the different time zones it's difficult to actually co-ordinate an event so huge. I'm going to close the thread now, as it's not really meant for much of a discussive purpose. And it'd be more suited to the Otaku Lounge anyway, heh.

Erm... living quarters is dependent entirely on the players- since not everyone's living in the same place it'd be hard for me to try and work that out. If you want to share with someone, PM and ask. Once you've made the arrangements, it'd be nice for everyone else to know so they can sort themselves out if needs be. The differnt years will be the biggest division, of sorts. Freshmen, Seniors etc would all be taught separately, so would have different times for the different levels of each class. But there are a few classes that are taught all together anyway- P.E, Use of Oversized Weapons and Monster Control. I'll issue a rudimentary timetable for each year. There are breaks and lunch hours, free periods and before/afterschool for characters to socialise, as well as between periods. Please bear with me on this though- this if the first time I've ever had to co-ordinate something so complicated, heh. And since it's RPG-time, not all of the lessons will feature in the game anyway. What would be useful would be a little time indicator at the top of each post so that everyone knows how long each one lasts, and if someone wants to jump to a certain period then they can and everyone else will know what their character's supposed to be doing. But a lot of this will be dependent on who gets in, and I can't decide that until I know how many more people might be signing up. I'll give the recruitment thread until this Saturday (31st July), then I'll start getting the final preparations organised. -
I'm afraid threads created solely for advertising/recruitment purposes are against the rules at OtakuBoards, but we appreciate the interest. But this is the Anime Forum anyway- the artists are in the Art one further down the main page, heh ^_~ Although any advertising threads there would be closed too, you're welcome to put a notice in your Signature about it. There are normal Physical Education lessons, but the extra sports are like... doing more of them, really. Like taking Double Science, in effect. And they include all sorts of things- hockey, baseball, football, 'real' football (i.e. soccer), badminton, tennis, monopoly, judo, karate and poker. They don't play a huge part in the RPG themselves, but they add depth to characters and provide people with backgrounds for scenes. I just have to work out a lesson timetable o_o; -
Name: Knuckles the Echidna Race: Echidna Age: 23 Description: Knuckles is a deep red-skinned echidna with large red dreadlocks. He has a white collar around his neck and wears black, metal-studded gloves. He wears a black sleeveless jacket and black jeans, torn pretty much everywhere. Around his head is a faded purple bandanna. On his feet are massive metal boots with small spikes on the soles, which he delights in using to put other people in their places. Biography: Knucles never really cared for anything much, and still doesn't. He quit high school after his second year because he found it too boring, and instead trained as a kick-boxer to try and earn him some tournament cash. The problem was, his manager was corrupt and took him on only to use as a scaegoat for various crimes he was comitting. While at a midnight training session, police broke into the gym and threw him to the floor, reading him his rights without even charging him. He'd been charged with murder. His lawyer, paid for using a loan from a friend in the state, managed to grant him an appeal and was then successful in getting his manager thrown into jail. But the loan cast him into huge debt, and even though the friend was a friend, the expenses were too high to ignore. Knuckles still pays it off day by day, through whatever means he can. Whether it's accepting a job as a bouncer/decoy/butler, he'll do it. But he'll never kill. Knuckles lives in a run down hut in the Station Square suburbs- something he built himself using utilities he scrounged from a skip. He met Sonic whilst taking a job protecting an 'ambassador' (read: drugs baron) in the downtown city. Sonic was in the room opposite the dealing's location, and when he came outside to see Knuckles standing vigilantly a few metres away, they struck up conversation. It wasn't friendly conversation at first, but after a short fight (and a few subsequent meetings), the two became... not friends, but associates. Personality: Knuckles is brash, argumentative, stubborn and brutal, but knows right and wrong in the context of morality. As far as he's concerned people can do what they like, so long as he gets paid. Special Ability: Knuckles is a great street-fighter and moves with agility and physical prowess, being able to knock seven bells out of several opponents in a fairly short space of time. He's also fairly strong for an Echidna, and enjoys showing off his capabilities. I hope that's alright ^_^

Gaming If any game was made into a movie, who would act as the characters?
Solo Tremaine replied to a topic in Noosphere
I'm not sure about Samus. I don't think Uma Therman looks quite right, to be honest. But I can't actually think of a better alternative. Obviously, looking at Samus' figure in the games you can tell she's not a wallflower-type, so someone stick-thin wouldn't be right. But some kind of female body builder would lose the sex appeal. Hmm... There was talk of a Half-Life movie a while ago. I don't know how great it would really be for storylines, but I think Eric Bana would make a good Gordon Freeman. He looks intelligent enough to be a scientist and he can do action well, as was seen from Troy. -
Well, in the Official Threads Directory at the top of the page, we have 56 series listed, and 14 movies, making 72 in total. I know there are more than that though, because very few hentai series are included in it, along with some really obscure ones (Hareluya BOY and Hareluya II BOY, The Wind of Amnesia, Landlock etc). Considering more are bing made all the time, and the amount of series that could almost be defined as anime, it's be incredibly hard to work out exactly how many there are. New ones seem to pop up all the time.

There's a Duel Masters thread here- be sure to search the forum for existing anime threads, or check the Official Threads Directory Sticky at the top of the page. Also, the post's still a little short/spammy- Proper punctuation is appreciated, and it could do with some more detail. What is it about Duel Masters that you like, for example? Favourite characters/cards/episodes/combos... anything you can to make it more interesting. Thread closed.

I want to be able to give evryone an equal chance of getting in, but there are a few things about some characters that don't quite seem right. If I say now, at least you'll have a chance to edit before I make a pick. By the way: Please don't take any comments I make personally. I'm just looking at it from a literary point of view. And if I do (or don't) point something out, it doesn't necessarily have any bearing on the final selection. Sign-ups aren't anywhere near complete yet. I'd like to have a decent balance of characters and players. So ideally, I'm looking for more female characters. There are 10 boys to 2 girls at the moment o_o; Which reminds me: PLEASE ADD 'Gender:' TO YOUR SIGN-UP INFO. I completely forgot to add it in, even though I managed to list 'Creative Writing' as a subject twice >.> [strike]hEvN: It could be an interesting story point, but I'm a little worried about the homophobia. Perhaps it's just the word itself, but it tends to have rather nasty connotations, if you get my drift. It's a light-hearted RPG, so although there can be serious moments, on the whole it's meant to be entertaining.[/strike] That's great- thanks for clearing that up ^_~ [strike]Ryoko T.D.C: That's rather a lot of abilities, heh ^_^;[/strike] [strike]Kane: Not a character thing, but try and make sure the sentences are broken up logically- they're a little hard to follow at times. Good stuff, though.[/strike] jacobian007: Mecha means 'mechanical', so if you were a mecha you'd have to actually be a robot. You can be a Mecha Pilot, though. [strike]Ryoko T.D.C, Jokopoko: Just tweak your Bios a bit- it's hard to discern, but some bits just need a little refinement to make them clearer.[/strike] Thanks guys. It's much appreciated, heh. I always feel guilty about asking for things like this, but I'd have felt worse if I said nothing and then had to make a painful choice about who not to take in. The sharper and unique you can make your characters, the better. Make them Yaoi/Yuri, young, old, mechanical (I'm a little surprised we've had no robots yet), small, gigantic, anything you like. They don't even need to be human. And don't forget to check your spelling, punctuation and grammar ^_~ Now the nagging's over and done with, here's my sign-up. Character Name: Sabre Arihyoshi Anime Stereotype: ?Evil? monster Age: 20 Gender: Male Year: Senior Appearance: Alignment: Neutral-ish Extra Subjects:

Use of Oversized Weapons
Villain Ethics
Hero Ethics
Metalwork and Forgery
Bishieology
Creative Writing
Accommodation: Sabre has his own flat on the top floor of one of the student apartment blocks, paid for by his parents. It?s not the best room in the school (since he was evicted from his first by some snotty rich prince)*, but he doesn?t mind. He wants a roommate, but people who apply usually just try to kill him (see Bio). Bio: Sabre, being a six-foot tall werewolf with bright yellow eyes and the oldest son of one of the most evil creatures in the world, bears the perfect mould for an evil being. Except he isn?t evil at all- he just gets irritated easily, mostly by people who say he?s evil. He disagrees with the lifestyle, complaining that it?s far easier to be nice to people in life because, among other things, it makes health insurance cheaper. His father disagrees however, and he has been banished to the school until he passes his Villain Ethics exams, a subject taught in person by the Principal. Because of his evil heritage, Sabre often finds himself being hunted by over-ambitious students who think he?s their sworn enemy. He?s managed to survive so far, but every fight he gets into earns him more and more of a reputation of being an evil bully beating up good-hearted students. What doesn?t help is that the device around his neck that enables him to speak in English/Japanese** often stops working whenever he becomes physically or emotionally agitated, reducing his eloquence to spits, whines and growls (he is a wolf, after all). In his flat, he devotes a lot of time to watching the infamously popular soap Love/Hate, now in it?s 12th consecutive season. He absolutely loves it, and flies into a blind rage if ever he misses an episode. Whenever he hears someone talking about it he gets very excited, which is often misinterpreted by others as a rabid attack upon their personages, which in turn leads to him getting beaten up by more students. He has a serious grudge against Master Ooguchi, who delights in putting him in detention whenever girls are nearby. Disliked by good people for being evil, and disliked by evil people for not being evil enough, Sabre finds it hard to fit in. He?s been in his Senior year at the Tokyo Academy for three years now- he keeps failing his exams and is always forced to retake, much to his disappointment. Special Powers/Abilities: Sabre?s alleged to be able to transform into a handsome, orange-haired boy, but there?s no proof of that. Otherwise, he?s just very strong. And hairy. Sworn Enemy: Heroes, Villains and Master Ooguchi *Lynx, have you been into my house and read my sign-up? Some of the similarities were uncanny, so I had to edit o_o; **In the context of the actual story it?d probably be Japanese, but we write in English ^_~ -

A tall, bulky man stepped up to the podium, staring through his tinted glasses a stare that would cause millions to cower in fear. But since nobody could actually see his eyes, the crowd in front of him remained unafraid, continuing to sit in anticipation of their address. Some were chatting amongst themselves, others were battling it out inside 600-feet tall robots. The man straightened his short black hair and pulled his black jacket further over his shoulders. He raised a gloved hand up to his mouth and coughed politely into the microphone- a mere six thousand decibels of noise swept over the gathering of students, sending many of the younger, lighter ones flying over the horizon. Satisfied that he had their attention (if not their hearing), the Principal of the Tokyo Academy for Unusual Students began his speech. ?Welcome all to the Tokyo Academy. Some of you have been here before, some of you haven?t. As always, I trust we shall make this year as? productive a year as we have always done. As you know, this is a very special school, where we can teach you without worrying too much about loss of life, and we may harvest your abilities?? He paused as the students raised suspicious eyebrows in unison. Straightening his hair, he cleared his throat again. ?Excuse me, nurture your abilities so that you may live normal, productive lives. For those of you that have just joined us this year, the senior students will show you around the site. Thank you.? With that, the principal disappeared, once again straightening his short black hair. * * * Deep within the outskirts of Tokyo?s suburbs lies a school. Here, hundreds of students study hard to gain enough knowledge and qualifications to gear them up for adult life. But this is not an ordinary school, by any means. In this school, many of the students have extraordinary powers and talents that they have discovered or had thrown upon them, and it is here that they must learn to control them. Or simply cause mayhem. This is the Tokyo Academy for Unusual Students. Prepare to be unprepared. Staff: Principal Gondo Okari. The Principal of the Tokyo Academy is an incredibly sinister man with an obsession about his hair. He stands about 7 feet tall in high-heeled boots and wears nothing but black, save for a bright orange shirt on Mondays. His small, round sunglasses are permanently stuck on his face- anyone who has ever seen his eyes has never been the same again. Before becoming the Principal, he was an ordinary teacher with a hair obsession. But when he got lost in downtown Tokyo some years ago, he stumbled into a restaurant where he accidentally ate a small but extremely powerful fairy. Since then, he has become even more sinister, and can increase the sound of his voice to phenomenal levels. When he coughs, he has a tendency to release clouds of toxic vapour. He stands as a brutal authority figure over the school, but actually does very little. Most of the time he sits in his darkened office, staring through the blinds at the sports arenas or the mecha park. He goes through secretaries at an alarming rate- often two a week ?and is sometimes heard muttering about ?evil plans?. Vice-Principal Jean Kanagi The Vice-Principal is incredibly different to her senior- she is bright, friendly and enjoys organising school events. The problem is, she?s been in a coma for three years and can only communicate with the students through the body of her husband, a scientist employed by Gando to help keep the school under control. Although she cannot do much, being a spirit, she sees almost everything that goes on around the school and has a sort of omnipresence about her. Students often come to her for advice. Her husband Souichi, having two minds in one body, is incredibly schizophrenic and often comes into school with three sets of clothes on and half his face covered in make-up. His science classes are often very destructive. Master Ooguchi Master Ooguchi is the Physical Education teacher. He prides himself at being the absolute best in everything he does (which includes ?piloting mechas?, ?swordfighting? and ?you-know-what?), and takes special care demonstrating it to any female members of staff and students of any race. A lecher and a pervert, he hates most boys except those who worship him as being the best in the world (and he still exploits everyone anyway), and insists that everyone address him as ?Master?. The girls, however, see him as kind, considerate and humorous, if a little chauvinistic. Janitor Takashi Takashi is the muscular, 30-something year-old janitor and caretaker of the school. The students love him, but he is quite a detestable grouch when he sees something that goes against school policy. He follows it to the very letter and mercy be to those who cross his path. He has an enchanted broom cupboard, in which he keeps his enchanted brooms, mops and buckets. Whenever a mess is created somewhere, they automatically zoom to the scene and clear it up. The problem is, there is little way of controlling them, and they frequently cause more mess than they clean up. Sign-Up The first thing to note about the RPG- it is a comedy, so the less serious, the better. Not to the point of absolute absurdity, but as close as you can get without being too over-the-top. Secondly, this is not for existing anime character- you have to create your own characters with their own quirks. If you can spoof an existing character (or several), that?s great. But they have to be original. Example Sign-Ups (These were taken from Shy?s original Anime Stereotype High School RPG- bear in mind I've added a few more details)
Character Names(s): Pixie Queens! Anime Stereotype: Magical Girl Bio: Chad, Kamui and Ken were three regular high school football players until they came across a magical talking goose named Fred. Fred revealed to them that they were really the reincarnation of the Royal Pixie family, a lost civilization of magical pixies who were destroyed after a bulldozer destroyed their mystic flowers, which gave them their powers. Fred gave the three boys a magical flower, which gives them the ability to transform into the Pixie Queens. Age: 16 Powers: The Pixie Queens can fly around and speak in very annoying, high-pitched voices. They fight evil with their magical wands, which have the power to destroy the enemy with ?Pixie Power?. Sworn Enemy: People who destroy flowers. >>>>> Character Name: Hitori Anime Stereotype: Beautiful Ronin Bio: Hitori was raised by her father until he was killed by a band of ruthless ninjas. She then moved into her senei?s house where he trained her into the martial arts. One day Histori went to the store, and when she returned she discovered that her sensei had also been killed by a band of ruthless ninjas. Hitori vowed revenge, and renews her vow every time someone close to her is killed by a band of ruthless ninjas (which seems to be every day). Age: 17 Powers: Years of training in the martial arts and a glowing blade of fire known as ?Ninja Cutter?. Sworn Enemy: Ninjas (obviously) >>>>> Character Name: Robobo! (Piloted by Shiro Hunter) Anime Stereotype: Mecha Bio: Funded by a secret Japanese government organization, Robobo was constructed in order to protect Japan from an upcoming alien invasion during the 1970?s. However, the aliens never invaded and the government was left with a giant robot with no purpose. They sold it at auction to Shiro Hunter, a spoiled rich child who has a dream of becoming a hero. Shiro beings his robot with him everywhere; it hides underground until Shiro says a secret command word to summon it Powers: Robobo has more weapons than all of Africa combined. Several thousand missiles are contained within it?s super-strong titanium armor, but it prefers to fight with an oversized energy sword. Robobo has the ability to fly using a jet pack, but the jet pack usually bursts into flames without warning. Sworn Enemy: Evil stuff
To sign up, you will need: Character Name(s): Anything you like here, so long as it?s not obscene. And yes, you can have more than one character, but no more than two, perhaps three on exception. Anime Stereotype: What stereotype your character?s based on. Age: Bearing in mind this is a high school so the ages should be appropriate to the context, but there may well be some mature students carrying out some courses too. Staff can be any age at all, from 1 to 6,000. Gender: Male, Female, N/A, Unknown, etc Year: Sophomore, Senior, Freshman etc Appearance: Pictures are alright, a description would be nice too. Alignment: Good, Evil or Neutral Extra Subjects: On top of the regulars (English, Japanese, Maths, Geography, P.E, etc), you can choose another few subjects to study as part of extra-curricular activities. These include: -Monster Control w/ Applied Spirit Taming -Use of Oversized Weapons -Creative Writing -Magic Casting -Mecha Combat with Quantum Mechanics (required for all mecha pilots) -Engineering -Bishieology -Hair and Beauty -Metalwork and Forgery -?Extra? Sports -Transformation -Counselling -Hero Ethics -Villain Ethics Preferably something relevant to your character- you can make up your own if you like, as these are pretty much just aesthetic things. Accommodation: Some students live in halls on the school site, others live in the town with their parents. Bio: Everything about your character?s personality and history goes in here, including any personal artefacts they might carry about their person. This should also include what your character?s ambitions are- if they?re evil, they should have an evil plan; if they?re good, they should know what kind of lifestyle they want to lead- either protecting the innocent or opening a fish farm; it?s entirely up to you. Special Powers/Abilities: Outrageously powerful powers are alright, but don?t godmod. This is a comedy RPG, so you could have a really daft ability if you wanted to, e.g. the ability to make paper stick to any surface, or the ability to make people?s hair turn green. You don't even have to have any abilities. Perfectly normal characters are fine, as are Yaoi and Yuri (but bear in mind this RPG should be no more than a PG-13) Sworn Enemy: ?Nuff said. In this RPG, I hope for there to be good guys and bad guys, all forming relationships, rivalries and anything else you like. You?re more than welcome to try and form an attachment to another character so long as the other person consents to it. And if two people are both after the same one and they?re after someone else entirely, play it out in the story- but please don?t get angry. I reserve the right to throw out any participant who won?t play nicely. Ultimately, it should be the decision of whoever?s being asked as to whether they want to start anything. And since this is a high school, if a character wants to hold and organise an event/party/evil plan which bears context in the actual RPG, you?re welcome to do so providing I?m PMmed first and it?s approved. So it?s kind of a communal storyline, in effect ^_^ I?ll only hold one event at a time, though. Examples:

A character wants to organise a field trip to a martial arts dojo.
A character wants to start a rebellion to take over the school.
A character wants to hold a party/sleepover/ritual sacrifice at their house.
The RPG should (assuming it goes far enough) be divided into four semesters: Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer, at the end of which is the End of Year prom and Finals. In each semester there?ll be one big event, and there?ll also be lessons, activities and parties (some of which you can contribute) all throughout the year. Holidays are involved in the semester chapters- I've not quite figured out yet how to divide them, but with any luck I should do by the time the RPG starts ^_^; You can sign up as a member of Staff- just say so in your reply and specify which subjects you teach or what role you have in the school. The staff listed above are useable by anyone in scenes if they want to, but I?ll take control of them at key points for various story events. Ideally I?m looking for good-quality sign-ups with lots of humour. I?d like people who are going to be committed to sticking with the RPG all the way through. I don?t know how long it?s going to last, but I?d like it to properly finish wherever we manage to get to. I?m going to be selective with the sign-ups, but if people drop out I will probably ask someone else to take their place, so if you miss out don?t give up- I might well call you back in. And if someone wants to join in a particular semester, they can do so. I?ll post my sign up soon, heh. Enjoy!

That was rather a long time ago. I don't think it makes him any less of a person (not that I know what he's personally like anyway), and I wouldn't think of him as being a worse actor as a result- it just means he had rather precocious teenage years. But a lot of people do. This kind of thing's happening a lot more now. Sexual experimentation in itself isn't so bad; it's when it comes before education on the subject, and if the person isn't ready for it. The thing is when boys start going through puberty, sexual urges start pumping through the body like nobody's business. I should know, I've been through that (not that it got me anywhere, though). Not to mention, as hEvN's already stated, the effects of media, social pressure and everything else can add an odd skew to thing. I think 13 is too early an age to have sex, but certainly not too early to be educated about sex. It's a relatively dangerous thing to do at the best of times, thinking of everything that can happen to you. But when you're that age, the promise of sexual experimentation is often more overpowering than common sense, because you've not yet learnt how to deal with it.
While it is true that most people who strike out in violence in one way or another have problems long before they listened to that band, played that game, or watched that show, those things due have an influence.
I didn't say they didn't have any influence at all, I said that anyone who'd think about practicing those behaviours would already have to have some kind of predisposition to act violently; either through early development or innate instinct. And when they do see something that affects them in that way, they're more likely to react than normal people. It isn't a case of anyone who watches it becomes more violent- it all depends on their upbringing. I'm not denying they don't affect you- the first time I saw Princess Mononoke I was pretty shocked, and I even felt a bit sick. There were times even in Digimon where I thought something was too violent for some kids to see. But now I watch it without a second thought. It doesn't mean I find it any more acceptable for it to happen in reality; it just doesn't shock me so much because I'm used to it. And that's all part of growing up, really. A lot of adults seem to forget that children have to grow into adults some day, which means that inevitably they have to find out what happens in the world- both good and bad. While animes may be violent, as Syk3 said they can also be educational. And above all they're meant for entertainment, to put across a story that evokes a certain kind of emotion, depending on the show. So they're meant to have some kind of effect anyway, although it's not necessarily meant to be permanent.
Does anyone remember when the psychologists were saying that "Violent video games desensitize nation's youth!" and so on? It's true... even the US government, as part of it's newer armed forces training, uses it's own very violent game to desensitize the soldiers. And during active battle, with their com. sets, the soldiers can listen to music, and guess what some of them listen to: the ultra violent music in question. I don't remember band names, but with songs like, "Let the bodies hit the floor" and "burn mother****** burn", which they say helps them get "in the mood"... you can't deny the effect.
Not everyone who goes into the army are bright, innocent and untainted people. They'd already have to have a lust and excitement to do that kind of thing, otherwise they wouldn't have signed up in the first place. Otherwise I'm sure a lot of intelligent people would leave in disgust. You don't join the army for the hell of it- you do it because it's what you want to do. Hence, only people of a certain nature get far enough to experience that level of mental affliction.
Does that mean they should ban said forms of media? No, but would I want my 5 year old to listen to that as they ride the bus? or a 14 year old playing that game at a friend's house? No way. Would I care if they were old enough, and mature enough so that it wouldn't stunt their personality? nope.
What you would want your children to listen to is entirely up to you. But they can't be protected forever. What people have to do is make sure that regardless of what they might see and do, parents talk to their children so that they understand right from wrong and don't do what they're shown on TV. That's where the problem lies.
-
It's a case of scapegoating- people try to find something to blame their problems on so they don't have to take responsibility for it. But if parents sat down with their children and took proper care of them like they're supposed to, children wouldn't be violent in the first place, regardless of the programmes they watch. The exact same thoughts were brought forward in the UK when Pokemon first arrived. They'll get used to it- I seriously doubt they'd put a bn on it, especially when other programmes are far more violent. In the UK, TV soaps are watched by thousands more kids than animes are, and the violence in those is far more realistic- I think they're more likely to cause violent behaviour than anything else. But then, there isn't a huge amount of evidence to show that TV programmes alone cause such behaviours anyway. You'd have to have a certain kind of violent predisposition to consider things like that in the first place.

There's only so far this kind of topic can go, so I think I'll stop it here before it has time to accumulate. Welcome to OtakuBoards, master_of_anime. Be sure to check the Rules- in general, posts such as the length of yours are considered spam, so please be careful to add as much additional stuff as you can, using proper punctuation as well. Thread closed. -
I've been watching this thread for a while and I've come to the conclusion that it's not really promoting decent discussion. Certain designers/creators/writers will want certain looks for their character- it's either deliberate or coincidental that they happen to look similar to another. natatron, please watch your punctuation. Considering I've seen you manage it in other posts, I'm a little disappointed it's not consistent. Anyway, thread closed.

You've probably got some kind of spyware bug on your system- I'd see if you can download something that scans and isolates/deletes unwanted intrusion files. I haven't any suggestions myself, but I'm sure someone else will know of a good free one.

What does religion have to do with where i work?
Solo Tremaine replied to Zudo's topic in General Discussion
Thanks, but i already took care of it -grins-. The 'friend' is having a little trouble walking now. It was stupid think i could trust someone, with such a...uh..secret? I mean, people think just because im wiccan, that im also satanic, its not the same
I've no idea whether this was serious or not, but giving your 'friend' 'walking difficulties' isn't going to help your case of religious prejudice much. If anything I'd have thought it'd worsen the situation- simple logic would dictate that if one Wiccan hurts you, others might too. Hence, you build up a stigma against yourself that denotes that Wiccans are vindictive. As much as I dislike the idea of compensation culture, this is one case where I'd be inclined to follow legal action. It would put you (and other Wiccans too, probably) in a much better light persuing things in a more mature way, and it would bring religious discrimination into the public eye. Fights don't solve anything, save to deepen the hatred between various factions. -
I merged your Vash thread with the existing Trigun one, Petie. Even it's about characters from a specific series, it's best to keep them in their specific threads, heh. But it's a decent topic- I was quite surprised ^_~ I don't think Vash is stupid at all- the reasonings and arguments he makes in the last few episodes is enough proof of that. There's far less comedy in those, even though from tie to time he still exhibits his weird nature. The thing is that he has an innocent soul. He believes that nobody should be killed, and as almost everyone around him says, it's a rather naive way of looking at things. In the last episode,
we see him following Knives around the planet until he shoots him in the leg and runs off
. This to me would suggest that he just hadn't had the chance to become his own person and was dependent on having company and intelligent people to make his decisions for him. It was only when
July was destryoed
that he really had to fend for himself. He wasn't even a great gunman at that point. I wonder if the muliple personalities-like syndrome might have erupted from that.

Anime why dont people put anime movies in theatre!!!
Solo Tremaine replied to mr dude guy's topic in Otaku Central
Anime is something you watch from the safety of your own home.
It depends entirely on the anime. Series that are obviously made for TV wouldn't suit the cinema, but I'd love to see more on the big screen. There's a certain impact that you get from being completely immersed in a cinema screen that you don't quite get at home. The End of Evangelion movie had its own screening at a UK Sci-fi Channel convention in London. That would have been nice to see on a big screen. The thing with anime films is that some are less than an hour long anyway- Sin, The Slayers movies, Voices of a Distant Star- none are long enough to warrant their own screening, and it's probably better value for you as a customer to buy the series on DVD and watch it whemever rather than pay 4-5 pounds every time you want to watch something that might not even be half an hour long. But a lot of the better standalone movies have been shown in cinemas. Even though Spirited Away was given a disappointingly restricted showing (I was lucky enough to catch it at the local arts cinema), it was still shown. I think people are becoming much more open to anime now. Honestly, if people don't like me simply because I watch anime then it's their problem. If they don't want to accept you for what you like then they probably aren't worth being friends with anyway. I really don't care.
