Erik, please try and add more detail to your posts- had that not been split up into three lines I'd be inclined to delete it as spam. Say why you like a particular anime series' music, if nothing else.

Strayed Soul, please put more effort into your posts. One line posts are spam, even if they might answer the thread. Not to mention it makes things easier to understand and more interesting for other people to read. You haven't even mentioned which anime Vash is from, heh. Although it might be obvious to you, others might not know. Anything you can to add more detail to your replies. And as for this thread... we've a lot of these kinds of topics floating about the place already, and more often than not they tend to lead to sub-par replies. I can't see a huge amount of point to it, to be honest- if you don't know why you want to know, that doesn't give the question a huge amount of purpose. Simply put, having a thread for every single character trait that a character could have isn't practical, so I'm going to close this one. It's nothing personal, but I doubt it would add much to the forum's fairly broad discussion rates anyway. Thread closed. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

As I've already said, this is not a thread for crossover pairings- this is for crossover animes. If there's any more confusion, I'll close the thread.
ah, tough choice. for me, it's a tie between Spirited Away and the 2nd CCS movie^^
Welcome to OtakuBoards, Hikaru no Yugi. I understand that you're new, but try and put some more detail into your posts if you can- one line posts are generally considered to be spam on OtakuBoards, so we try and encourage people to add as much as they can. Watch out for punctuation and grammar, too.

I'd read the thread and find out, heh. Or check the Threads Directory at the top of the page to see what might interest you. if I recommended one anime movie for people who liked Dragonball, I'd say either Akira or Princess Mononoke, but they're both very different. It depends what your tastes are. But this isn't a recommendations thread, really- it's for movie discussion. Browse around and see what takes your fancy. Try and make your posts a bit longer in future, please natetron46, and use capital letters wherever you can. The post is so short it's running the risk of being spam.

Anime Which language track on a anime DVD do you prefer?
Solo Tremaine replied to Sailor Ganymede's topic in Otaku Central
This is pretty much identical to a thread already open, found here. Not all valid threads in the Anime Lounge are on the first page (i.e. those younger than 30 days), so be sure to check that a similar thread doesn't already exist. Thread closed. -
That's a lot of people, Sailor Ganymede, but do you think you could say why you would or wouldn't like them as roommates? We try and encourage people to go into as much detail as possible at OtakuBoards; anything too short is considered spam. What we don't want in threads like this are long lists with no explanation or reasoning behind them. I'm not saying that your post is spam, but bear it in mind for the future. If nothing else, it makes things more interesting for everyone else to read.
there's a dot hack sign on 1:00 am in saturday morning
Welcome to OtakuBoards, FLCLdude50. I understand that you're new, but please take a moment to read through the Rules page- posts this short would generally be considered spam and would be deleted. In future, be sure to include as much detail as you can. It makes things much more interesting for everyone else to read, heh.
OK I'm PMing you~ I'd love to see you there!
Please keep replies to the topic at hand if you can- Piro should know you're PMming him by the simple fact that he'll have a PM in his Inbox before too long, so it kind of becomes redundant anyway ^_^;
Hey, got one question, i just join otaku board. wut is any advanced option's i can do
Same thing- please keep replies to the topic, and avoid using abbreviations if you can. In answer to your question, you'd have to be more specific about what 'Advanced Options' you mean. For the mean time, the best I can suggest would be to check out the FAQ and Rules pages. They give you most of the information you should need, but you can also PM a Moderator if there's anything you're still unsure of.

Fansub distribution is illegal, so it's not something we'd be allowed to have at OtakuBoards and not something we want to encourage anyway. It takes away money from the creators of the anime. In short, the more that's downloaded, the less money they get and the fewer animes are produced. If you have your own site, you can already advertise it in your signature, so long as there's no pornographic material on it. Having no jokes and forum games section pretty much stands to reason- the ones we have already verge on spam at times, and at OtakuBoards we try and encourage better post quality as much as possible. But there are threads like this already open for you to play in if you like. If you mean forum games as in Flash games... I'm not sure it'd be possible to incorporate it into the software yet, but that's something you'd have to as Justin about. And in the Art by Request sub-forum, you can request a banner and/or avatar of your choice if you like.

Anime Eastern vs Western- The ultimate animated war
Solo Tremaine replied to PWNED's topic in Otaku Central
There's also computer animation- that's almost entirely a Western medium for animation, but that's not to say films like Finding Nemo or Toy Story are any worse then something like Spirited Away or My Neighbour Totoro. They're just different. Generally, animations made in the West tend to be primarily aimed at children, or at least the younger generations. The only adult animation from the West I've seen is Spawn (I haven't seen much of South Park, and I don't like it anyway >.>), which is more like your typical anime only drawn in a Western style. The large proportion of animes aren't just for children (and some aren't at all), and have many deeper meanings, convoluted plotlines and three-dimensional characters whereas a lot of animations originating from somewhere like the US have stereotypical characters and episode storylines you can spot a mile away. But some animes are like that, too. Once you've seen several, you can often tell how things are going to end up by the type of story it is and what the characters are like. Until anime made it big outside Japan, Disney pretty much owned the animation market. Personally, I lost interest in Disney some time ago and started watching things like Beast Wars. And Beast Wars is another example of Western animation that has a really decent plot, good characters and nice animation. Beast Machines was even better and retained a darker edge that you'd be more likely to see in an anime. Reboot was much the same; although the two were primarily aimed at kids, they grew darker and contained more adult references as they went on. And things like The Simpsons and Futurama are fantastic to watch even though they aren't as graphically complex as some anime series. In this case, it's all in the writing. But that's not even to say that children's animations are no good- even things like Rugrats can be enjoyable and put across a really interesting/touching message. There is a definitive difference in style between Eastern and Western animation, but I don't think that makes one better than the other, per se. It all depends on who the story's for, who it's done by and what the studio's budget is. At least Western animations tend to be consistant in their character designs. As Dagger said, anime characters can differ from episode to episode depending on the animation team. Whether you prefer anime to Western animation or not, people's ideas on the standard of animation is changing. Cliches exist in both- I doubt either is necessarily more original than the other in terms of animation or plotlines, and both have their faults. Even though I prefer to watch anime I won't say that all Western productions are bad. They're just different. -
Anime Best and worst anime(s) and why
Solo Tremaine replied to Chibi Devil Me's topic in Otaku Central
The villains, especially Legolas and Knives are straight-up psychotic and the guns look awesome.
Heh, I think you mean Legato ^_~ Trigun became one of my favourite series very very quickly. As soon as I saw the first episode, I was hooked. Vash's character is amazing, and it's incredibly well-written in terms of dialogue and story. The direction's impressive, too, along with the music, the voice actors... I like it ^_^ It might have been nice to have learnt a little more about some of the characters and their origins/backgrounds, but there was certainly enough there to satisfy. The animation was good, too. I'd even go as far to say it's better than Outlaw Star's some of the time. Even the most poorly animated ones were really decent. I'd have to say, in terms of my worst anime Shin Chan takes the biscuit above all else. I don't know why on Earth anyone would want to watch something so vile. The animation, the dialogue... very nasty indeed. But a lot of my basis for liking and sticking with an anime is the animation, so something like that definately wouldn't appeal to me. -
Anime Ending that makes you want to strangle the director
Solo Tremaine replied to Okita's topic in Otaku Central
Oh, I just remember another good example, Nadesico the Movie: Prince of Darkness....a bunch of build up for a big conflict that ended to shortly with no resolution or hope for a follow up....
Mmm, I'm indifferent to the Prince of Darkness movie. I didn't think it was bad, I just didn't think it was as good as it could have been, as if it'd been cut off. What I was most disappointed about was the fact that
since Nadesico was such an upbeat series, the movie didn't follow suit. More than anything I'd like to see Akito (one of my favourite characters) back with Yurika again. It puts quite a downer on the series if you know how the movie turns out.
But I wouldn't rule out the possibility of another one with regards to the story (I seriously doubt they will make another one). It wasn't completely
depressing- Ruri gave it some hope by saying they'd just have to go after him, and I'm sure that's what they'd do.
I liked the ending to the Evangelion series, but I hated the movies. If anything, they confused me more than the series did. At least with the original episode 26 I could interpret
Shinji breaking free from his fears and paranoia and finally being happy. The End of Evangelion did nothing for me.
-
Welcome to OtakuBoards, hengbok. As nice as the figure is, I'm going to have to close the thread. It's not providing any kind of discussion, and the post itself is far too short to be considered viable- i.e. it's spam. Please put more thought and effort into future posts. A thread discussing what kind of anime merchandising or figures you like to buy would be acceptable, but this just isn't enough. This could easily be put into a MyOtaku or weblog, and would probably gain better results. If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ and Rules pages, available in the side bar to the left. Or, you're welcome to PM me or any other Moderator of your choice, heh. Thread closed.

Anime Hentai (discussion 18 & up plz)
Solo Tremaine replied to Sephiroth_unite's topic in Otaku Central
Before you start posting links, please don't. I'm not clued up on the legality of download sites (whether the anime's licensed or not, as far as I'm concerned it's still copyrighted by its owner), but links to hentai downloads aren't appropriate for OB in any way. So bear that in mind, please. Links to commercial sites are also against OB rules, so you know. I hate to be the voice of doom, but I have to make sure this is made clear before anything breaks out. -
S'Alright, I've moved the thread for you. Welcome to OtakuBoards, Twisted_Smiles_ ^_^ Be sure to check out the FAQ and Rules pages (available on the sidebar to the left) if you haven't already done so- they'll probably answer most of any other questions you might have in the future. But they won't make banners for you, heh.

An interesting question, but unfortunately not one we can generally allow to have its own thread in the Anime Lounge. I'm impressed by the reply that this one recieved, but generally they create spam replies, and since there are so many anime characters to pit against each other, having one for every single battle would get unbelieveably impractical. If you wanted to write out a scenario for it, there's the Literature forum, or if you found someone else you could fight against each other in the Battle Arena. But I'm going to have to close this thread. Welcome to OtakuBoards, hinaru. be sure to check out the Rules and FAQ if you've not already done so.

Welcome to OtakuBoards, Overlord_Ray. Not wanting to get off on the wrong foot here, but please try and put a little more effort into your posts. Punctuation, spelling and detail (especially) are very important at OtakuBoards. Anything that's too short or of poor quality would be considered spam. I'm not entirely sure which anime character I hate most. I dislike Legato because
he made Chapel the Evergreen kill Wolfwood
, but as a character I think he's very cool. Not only because of his special power, but also because of his loyalty to Knives. He's not your regular, one-dimensional evil villain by any means. Sometimes what characters do get me really frustrated. I have a penchant for choosing my favourite characters as being ones who die at some point in the series. I was really annoyed that in Outlaw Star,
Hilda came so close to being rescued so many times, but never actually made it. Damn that little Kei Pirate girl...
. I suppose Pikachu's high on the list of most hated anime characters. I find him so infuriating. The fact that he gets so much screen time compared to other (much more worthy Pokemon) is one factor; I think Ash should have gotten rid of him a long long time ago. I don't watch Pokemon anymore, but I can tell Pikachu's still there, with his annoying voice and poor plotines. As long as he takes pride of place, I find watching it rather frustrating. He's the only character I have a real problem with. I don't really like any DBZ characters... but then again I don't actually like the anime itself, so that's really a given.

There's a Shaman King discussion already open here, where you can discuss all the Shaman King you can shake a stick at. Be sure to check for existing anime threads before starting a new one. The Official Threads Directory Sticky at the top of the forum display should give you a good indication of what's already there- if a link doesn't work, run a search in the forum for it. Try and work on your post quality, please- abbreviated words are discouraged at OB, and posts should include as much detail as possible, along with as proper punctuation as you can manage. If anything's unclear, be sure to check out the Rules or F.A.Q pages on the sidebar to the left. Or, you can PM a Moderator of your choice, heh. Thread closed.
i think its the eyes sooo far i am facinated by the eyes i just started liking animae soo the best part of an animae drawing is the eyes ummmmm blood is not that nice actually :wigout:
Funky girl, please try and work on your post quality. I hate to say it, but this really needs some improvement. Spelling and punctuation are a must-have when you're communicating in writing. Long, detailed and coherent posts make what you write much more interesting for everyone else to read, too. If anything's unclear, take a look at the Rules and F.A.Q sections on the sidebar menu to the left or PM a member of Staff..

There's a list of anime movie threads in the Official Threads Directory Sticky at the top of the forum display (the movie section is near the bottom of the thread)- I'd suggest looking through those and seeing which takes your fancy. Recommendations threads are generally spam, as people could as easily send you ideas through PM. If we allowed one, we'd have to allow everyone to have one, and considering how many members there are, there would be far too many. Also, as a rule for the Anime Lounge, there should only be one thread about a particular anime to save on forum congestion. So, I'm going to close the thread. If you have any further questions, feel free to PM either me or any other member of Staff.

I enjoyed Full Metal Panic. Although it lacked some of the deeper storylines of series like RahXephon, it didn't pretend to be anything other than what it was, which was a light-hearted action show. Being GONZO studios, I liked the animation and character design- slightly more shoujo than RahXephon, but not over-exaggerated. It's not my favourite series, and I wouldn't buy it on DVD, but I'm glad that I watched it. A friend of mine was interested in the series after seeing it shown in a comic shop. I didn't really have many expectations of it, apart from one person who said it was 'not that bad'. I loved the chemistry between Sosuke and Koname in the first few volumes, but it seemed to lose something towards the end, when it started becoming more action-based. It might have gotten in the way of the storyline a bit, but somehow it never really felt concrete enough towards the end to have really resolved. I know the Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu (or whatever it is) mini-series looks more at their school life together, but it would have been nice to have seen more of that. I felt the LAMDA Driver and
Gauron's constant reappearing
were left too unexplained as well. But it was worth watching. As for the mechs... I think I prefer Zoids, but they were still pretty cool ^_^

So long as the discussion in this thread keeps to anime crossovers as opposed to anime crossover couples, I'm happy for this to stay open. If it's anime couples you want though, this is the thread for you.

Since the question's been answered (thank you, ReFlux), I'm going to close the thread. Welcome to OtakuBoards, Billy3384. Just so that you know, a post as short as yours would usually be deleted, or at least given a warniong message about its quality:- it's really too short. In future, be sure to add as much detail as you can to make it more interesting for everyone else to read. As a final note, be sure to take a look at the Rules and FAQ pages on the side menu at the left. They explain many things about OB *nods* Thread closed.
What is a body? A material shell? Organs, blood, stuff? What does it exist for? To prove for us that we are (existing)? To wield our mind? What does a mind consist of? Protons, neutrons? Is a mind matherial? In that case, can you learn to create a mind? An arificial mind? Huh-oh, nowadays it sounds too much of sci-fi. (BTW, my dad is working in a science university... A few month ago we had some smart chitchat, he mentioned that efforts are positive in creating neuronets - that's actually AI, only at the real point it's smartiness is not really much more than of a cell. And I'm too lazy to go on on that, but anyway.)
I tend to get depressed trying to answer these sorts of questions for too long at a time; I don't care what I'm made of- I make my own way of life without trying to question it. To think that I'm only a pile of organs cheapens what I believe really makes a person, which is the mind and soul. There are material parts of the mind (i.e. the brain), everything else is more of a metaphysical combination of all sorts of things. To try and question my own existance becomes futile after a while as well. On a purely physical point of view, the meaning of anyone's existance is purely to procreate and bring about the next generations so that part of you will continue to survive after you're gone. And from then on in the argument becomes cyclical. Reproducing is done for reproducing's sake, and even with intelligence and society glossing over it, it still serves exactly the same purpose and is still an integral part of everyone's life whether they like it or not. Surviving in general is still a big part of life. We survive to life, and live to survive in any way we can. The question I ask most is: Why do we need to know? I know I have goals I want to achieve, but I do it because I have a drive to. What motivates me in that way isn't clear- probably developmental influence combined with genetic tendencies and something deeper within my mind all acting on me at once. But when you look at it like that you forget that life and humanity aren't logical science. If anything, humans are one of the most irrational beings on earth. So trying to give a value or reason to everything about them seems fairly redundant to me, as most of it is driven by innate drives and instincts anyway. I think sometimes humans became too intelligent for their own good.
