1. Jered, as I said in reply to your first post, messages such as this belong in your signature. Anywhere else is pure spam. Please don't start threads like this. And please try and put more effort into your posts actual content in future: since spelling and grammar are so important where you're communicating in writing, you should try and use things like capital letters, full stops, paragraphs etc to make your writing more presentable. Also, your post is far too short. Introductory threads aren't allowed at OtakuBoards anymore anyway, but even if they were, they'd need to have far more detail in them. As should any other post you decide to write in future. I would advise a look at the Rules- essential reading for any new members.
 2.
hello every one will u please add me to your buddy list?
Welcome to OtakuBoards, jered. Before you go any further, I strongly suggest you take a look at the Rules page, because this post falls under spam category under OB 'law'. If you want people to add you to their Buddy List, put a message in your signature about it. Then, people can choose whether they want to or not. But please don't post this in unrelated topics. If you have any further questions, take a look at the FAQ or send a Private Message to a Moderator of your choice.
 3.
i think all anime is ok to tell the truth.i was woundering if you could help me get started on this site.if u will then will u reply to this message and if not will you still anwser?
Jered, I understand you're new to the site, but please take a look at the Rules. A post of this quality really isn't acceptable. Please try and put more effort into future posts- if you have any questions, check out the FAQ in the side menu, or PM a Moderator if your question isn't answered there.
 4. Welcome to OtakuBoards, Chibi Devil Me ^_^. Be sure to read the FAQ in the sidebar menu on the left, heh. Unfortunately I'm going to have to close the thread, not least because there is an InuYasha threda already open (check the Threads Directory), but also because this thread is from 2003. Threads (unless they're about a specific anime that isn't already in the Threads Directory) older than 30 days, i.e. past the default forum display shouldn't really be brought back- the discussions tend to die hundreds of deaths over and over again, the discussion gets repetitive and a lot of it becomes redundant after too long anyway. It's best to have one thread for each anime. Thread closed.
 5. There are already Samurai X and Rouroni Kenshin discussion threads open. if you want to discuss either, locate them in the list in the Official Threads Directory and discuss them there. Thread closed.
 6. I've merged these three Anime Relationship discussion threads together in order to keep the forum a little more organised, and because the subjects discussed in them are all pretty much the same anyway, except with different guises. Hence, this is now the thread where you can put forward any anime couple you can imagine (like Duo Maxwell and Gene Starwind, if you really thought it would work), so long as you explain exactly why you would put them together.
 7. I seriously doubt Pegasus is gay, for the simple reason that Ayokano stated. Since I also doubt any further discussion can come from the thread, as the question has been answered to what I believe is the best capacity, I'm going to close it, heh. Thread closed.
 8. I'd run a Google Search for '.hack//SIGN Episode Guide'. There'd have to be at least one decent one about. Anyway; welcome to OtakuBoards milleye ^_^ Just a few quick pointers: Before starting a thread about a specific series, be sure to check if there isn't one already existing, either by looking in the Threads Directory Sticky at the top of the Anime Lounge or by running a search of the forum itself. In this case, there's a .hack//SIGN thread http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?t=38233]here, so this one will subsequently be closed. Also, try not to use abbreviations- post quality is very important at OB, so things like a/b should really be typed out in longhand, with capital letters in the right places if possible. If you have any further questions, be sure to check out the Rules and FAQ on the side-menu to the left, or feel free to PM any Moderator of your choice if what you're looking for isn't explained there. Have fun!
 9. Inyuasha7271, breaking up posts into more than one sentence per paragraph would be nice. They're not too bad as they are, but linking different thought patterns together with 'and' does get confusing and tiring to read. Just a thought.
Legato Bluesummers, one of the evilest Trigun characters there is. One thing I can't find is his age. Does it even say how old he is in the manga/anime? I haven't seen any manga, but I've seen every episode of the anime and they didn't say it once. I've even spent about an hour searching Google and Ask Jeeves and I haven't seen it once. Does anybody know Legato's age? It would really help![/size']
I'd wait for the Trigun Maximum mangas to come out- they give loads of detail about other aspects of the series. I actually had a theory that
Legato was a Plant as well, just like Vash and Knives. He managed to attach Vash's hand to his left arm and in episode 24 he says "We shold have died a long time ago, as soon as we fell onto this planet", or something along those lines. If he is a Plant, the chances are he's about their age. So over 130 years.
But don't hold me to that- it's just a theory. I bought the Trigun series on a whim, and I was so glad that I did. It's quickly become one of my favourite series, and it's pretty much been the only thing in my DVD player for weeks. The story surrounding Vash is great to follow- I love the struggles of the two conflicting ideologies behind the series: whether it is possible to save everything as you continue going, or whether there you have to make a sacrifice. I was glad that
Vash won out in the end
, because it's what I'd have tried to do. I'd probably have
ended up like Wolfwood, though >.>

 10.
As for Emma Watson playing Asuka, I don't know why it's a problem that she's British. I think that Asuka's German background is flat-out irrelevant to NGE's storyline, and maintaining it is a luxury[/i'] and not by any means a necessity. Also I think the Harry Potter cast all do a rather respectable acting job. Everything they do seems quite natural, and they're getting better with each film. But enough about that.
Oh, I'm not saying they're bad actors- I just think they wouldn't be right for the roles on Evangelion. Besides, I shouldn't really talk- I'm an actor in-training myself and I've been nowhere near as successful as they have been. And there are some things I know they can do better than I can. I see your point about Asuka's background- her accent in the NGE series is far from German anyway, so it's kind of a moot point. It's the character that has the explanation and history in it anyway, not the actor. But Emma Watson... still no. Apart from the stigma the kids from the HP films would carry around with them (they'd always be known as Harry, Ron and Hermione), they don't quite look right for Eva. I'm interested in how the live-action Transformers is coming about; whether that's really live-action, or whether it's live-action with CG characters in it. That's what I anticipated NGE to be, either that or completely CGI. Actually, I think complete CGI might look better. At least that way you don't have to worry too much about the actor's faces fitting the characters.
Do you think the plot of the series would be brought to script, or would they scrap it for something new? Also, I wonder if any of the so called "important people in the industry" ever look at message boards such as these and get inspiration for them?
Heh, I really wouldn't bank on it. Most film adaptations come from someone reading somehting they actually know and like, rather than plucking random ideas from places they don't know. But anime's becoming more widespread, and Ghost in the Shell already inspired the creation of The Matrix, so you never know what could drop up next. As for OS... who knows? The series script condensed could fit quite nicely. To do something new but similar takes a lot more work, although it may end up with a better result in the end.
 11. I think you need to clarify exactly what this thread's about. I'm finding it hard to understand, and was close to closing it. You select a pairing of your choice and explain why... for what purpose? In what context is the selection?
 12. Unfortunately because of the illegal nature of the activity, giving links to anime download sites is against OtakuBoards rules. Hence, I'm going to have to close the thread. I'm sure there'll be the odd person or two who can help you out via PM, though.
 13.
General Rogers was standing behind his desk playing with a yo-yo. He had a yo-yo when he was a child, a glow-in-the-dark yo-yo as a matter of fact, and the love of playing with yo-yos and never left him. He liked yo-yos almost as much as he loved sending young men to their deaths, but there was a certain satisfaction in knowing that people were killing themselves for you that playing with yo-yos just couldn?t hope to replicate.
My favourite bit so far ^____^ Fantastic, heh. It's obvious that you enjoyed doing Chapter Nine- it shows in the writing. It just has that little bit more edge to it. It's still devilishly interesting to read, Shin, and the way the characters interact sustains your interest really well. I sometimes have a tendency to end up skim-reading through really long bits of story, but this kept my eyes glued firmly to the screen. There were still the odd one or two points about sentence structure that bothered me a little. You could probably afford to be a little less literal with the active description in places. If someone's doing a whole sequence of things, making each movement a little different from the other in the way they're put down tends to give it a greater effect. That's not to say you need to think of something original for each sentence; I'm sure you know what I mean. One last thing:
?Thanks,? Dr. Milo said, already lighting the cigar.
He could already have lit the cigar whilst asking the General ^_^ It's great stuff, Shin. I really want to know what happens next...
 14. Mmm, I've mixed feelings about live-action adaptations, but you never know. These things can surprise you sometimes. At least Shin Chan hasn't reared its head yet... I wouldn't like to see Emma Watson as Asuka in any way. I've nothing against her personally, I just don't think it would be right. When I first found out that Shinji was suppose to be fourteen I was really quite surprised. I was sure the kids all looked at least 17. I I were making a live-action version, I'd be tempted to change the ages a bit to make it slightly more realistic. In any case, I doubt there'd be many 14-year-olds with as much diverse acting talent as would be needed for a lot of the elements in Evangelion. As much as I enjoy the Harry Potter films, there are times when all of the main characters remain fairly wooden. With regards to other anime adaptations, I think Outlaw Star would work pretty well. Aside from the Anten Seven, there isn't a huge amount of story to get through, if you condense it. I'm sure it'd be enough to fit into a two-hour film. Hugh Jackman as Gene Starwind, anyone? ^_~
 15.
On, and can anyone tell me what episode it was that Vash was all like "Well, you wanted me to come after you? Well you got it. I'm gonna kick your ***... dammit it sounded so cool in my head, but I don't even know where to start looking..." or something like that. It was great. I remember it was towards the end, but I don't know what episode. Maybe 25.
That was episode 16: Fifth Moon. It's the same one where
he destroys the city of Augusta and blasts a hole in the planet's fifth moon.
I do like that line. The short, really odd man who talks to the chair opens the saloon door to be greeted by Vash's gun. Vash then says, in a zombie-like state: "Legato, I am the one who is hunting you this time. I will find you, whatever it takes... Yeah, right! It sounds real cool in my head, but in reality I haven't a clue as to how I'm going to find him..." And so on, heh.
 16. Trigun, Episode 26: Under The Sky So Blue Although the rest of the series is good, this is one episode I can never get tired of. And not just for the story- for the animation, too. The main thing that I like about the episode is the fact that
the entire series has been building up to it. The first half's just a summary of what's gone on beforehand, but it's all relevant, so not entirely boring to have to sit through. You finally get to see what makes Vash and Knives so different, and you see that humans, the very things Knives call parasites, are what made Vash strong. By experiencing pain, he was made so much stronger than Knives, who had pretty much been sheltered from it. It's a great philosophy. And the fact that Vash kept his dream at the end of it is fantastic. I'm a great one for happy endings, and that's one of the best I've ever seen.
Digimon Tamers, Episode 54: Such Sweet Sorrow Another last episode, this one. The writing in this series was so good it wasn't surprising that the end was also really decent. The
bitter-sweet end was really well-balanced; I loved the Digimon characters and to see them leave their partners really was heart-wrenching. But Takato's narration at the end was lovely, too.
Another episode of Tamers I like is Jeri's Quest, which I think is one of the funniest of the Digimon lot. The interaction between Takato, Jeri and Leomon in that episode is something I often think about, even when I'm not discussing anime.
"She's chasing him? Making eyes? Tamers don't do that..."
Great stuff. EDIT: Martian Successor Nadesico, Episode 18: Echoes of Self, Echoes of Water Ruri Hoshino is one of my favourite characters in Nadesico- an episode entirely devoted to her history's never a bad thing in my mind, heh. This is an episode I love watching repeatedly-
when she finds out what her 'parents' were, I always feel sorry for her.
It never brought me close to tears, but it's one that the pragmatics of always make me think.
 17. Well... yes. There's a Miguzi discussion open already in the Movies, Music and TV forum. You can find it here. Try and be a little more constructive when starting a thread, please. From what I've heard Miguzi does sound irritating, but outright flaming it isn't very productive. More detail, explanation of opinions and the subject itself and soforth all go towards making a thread readable. As it stands this isn't really sufficient, especially when there's another thread about it already up and running. Be sure to use correct grammar in your posts, too. Question marks and capital letters wouldn't go amiss here, heh. Thread closed.
 18. "Nngh..." Grit scraped against his teeth, tasted horrible. He tried spitting it out, but his facial muscles felt numb. He couldn't move. "What the hell did I do to myself?" he thought, willing himself to get up. He had to get to the Capital. His limbs ached and throbbed as if they'd been electrified. He could feel sticky, half-dried blood on his face. Slowly, as he started to regain feeling, he pulled himself to his knees. Next to him was his Flambard- he reached for it and desperately tried to wield it back onto his back. It was a struggle. He'd never felt so weak in his entire life. "Come on, you bastard!" he growled at himself. "I can't fail now." He dragged his right leg out from underneath him and rose to his feet. The caves around him seemed to swirl, move in and out of focus. He closed his eyes tight,ly trying to rid himself of the concussion. As quickly as he could manage, leaning against the wall of the cave, he started walking towards the Capital. As he passed a small opening, an ominous clicking sound echoed through the corridor. He stretched round. A lone, adolescent cave scorpion clashed its claws together. "Oh..."
 19. The young man blinked, smiled, then lifted a bag from a desk behind him and handed it to Fladramon, who felt a great sigh of relief flowing through him, but did his best to keep it hidden. Security blanket-esque things didn't make for hardcore warriors. Gatomon watched Fladramon take the bag- he noticed her and blushed ever-so-slightly. Clearing his throat, he looked back to the human. "What do you mean by 'unstable'?" The human took them over to a large computer screen, at which sat a Digmon tapping ferverently at a keyboard. She gave them a quick glance over her shoulder and continued typing. A large, three-dimensional map of the new world hummed on screen. Although the planet looked normal enough, several glowing red fault lines ripped across the surface of the planet. Light blue dots pulsated slowly at various places around the faultlines, and a few in other parts of the world. "What are those?" Gatomon asked cautiously. "They're energy phases. When the two worlds were fused, it trapped a huge amount of energy beneath the surfaces of the two planets. As the outer layers begin to disingegrate, this energy is released in the form of huge natural disasters and dimensional rifts." Fladramon gazed at the network of red lines screaming across the planet's surface. "But... there are so many." "Exactly. That is why we have to act quickly to save both planets, otherwise we'll lose everything." the human replied gravely. The creatures around him exchanged worried looks. "Act quickly? What are you trying to do?" "Located at the heart of the Digital World was a computer that regulated the balance and processes of the digital creation, and the planet itself. As far as we can tell, it was destroyed at the beginning of the cataclysm. We need to locate ENIAC's power source so that we can rebuild it and bring the world to a balance." Fladramon pointed at a section of the world map that, instead of green plant land, was completely black. "What's that?" The human swept some of his hair from his face. "That is the heart of the Digimon's realm. The land around it has been corrupted so badly; there must be something at the heart of it that's causing all that destruction." "What do you think it is?" A huge voice echoed throughout the cave- "A digimon." Maildramon's massive presence filled the room as he entered from a large side-tunnel. Fladramon and Gatomon didn't much like the contemptuous look they were getting from him. "One digimon?" gatomon hissed. "Surely there's nothing that power-" "Before the cataclysm," Maildramon interjected, his voice a low growl. "There was a digimon called Thanatomon, a corrupted, viral Mega Digimon. Somehow he'd managed to worm his way onto the Digimon Senate and persuaded them to let him take care of the invading human forces. He seemed to be doing the Digital World a great service, but I never trusted him. I was posted with him during the final battle, but in the final moments he disappeared. Before I had a chance to look for him, a massive explosion shook the world. When I awoke, the two planets had been fused together." "Our scouts have noticed Digimon travelling too and from the centre of that area, carrying things with odd power readings. We suspect it's ENIAC's armour." Digmon continued. The human commander leant agsinst the rocky wall. "But as soon as we track the armour to the source, the readings disappear. We have no way of knowing what happened to them or what the Digimon are planning. Either way, if Thanatomon's behind it, we have to act quickly. That's why we brought you here." "Us?" Gatomon and Fladramon chorused. "We were hoping there would be more of you with human partners... we're not sure how digivices work with only one half of an evolution chain." "Half of an evolution chain? You mean digimon can't digivolve without humans?" Fladramon spluttered. The human shook his head. "Only with digivices. If you can touch and read a piece of ENIAC's armour, you can digivolve, perhaps permanently. A digivice allows an intensely powerful digivolution for short spaces of time. But we never perfected them. They need a human vessel to transmit the energy. Together, human and digimon life-force create a huge power that we might be able to use to combat the evil that's stalking the planets. And, we might be able to prevent the world from falling apart." Fladramon scratched his chin. "It's an interesting idea... but-" Before he could finish, an explosion shook the caves. "What was that?" Maildramon roared. "Sir, there's been a cave-in in the lower tunnels. I'm detecting a strange energy source..."
 20. Eh, I don't even need to see this movie to be annoyed with it. The concept isn't too bad, but the international stereotypes of Emmerich's films really get up my nose. Japanese= panicked civilians in business suits, English= nice, but losers; Americans= heroes. It was the same in Independence Day, with the shots of the various other countries being told how to
get rid of the aliens by Goldblum.

My main problem with the movie was how damn predictable it was. Everything that happened was set up from a mile away.
The only reason I was going to see the film was because a friend wanted to, but since he went and saw it without me I doubt I'll bother. I've never been a huge fan of disaster movies anyway. All the ones I've seen tend to follow a very similar plotline- scientist/fireman/whatever either discredited, considered 'eccentric' or fired due to some personal family problem that'll crop up later on in the movie tries to tell someone of authority that something big and disasterous is going to happen, but no-one believes him until it's too late. Scientist/fireman/whatever then spends the rest of the film trying to survive and overcome said big disasterous event. Independence Day, Daylight, Dante's Peak,... even Evolution to some extent, but I liked that because it was more tongue-in-cheek. Twister was the same, save for the 'trying to tell someone about the event'- they were following it instead, but it still had a silly, two-dimensional family subplot. From what I saw in the trailers, the special effects did look fairly impressive. But I've no burning desire to go and see it.
 21. I appreciate the effort you've put into making this a worthwhile topic Blackrose_, but unfortunately I'm going to have to close this thread as well. Sorry- it's just not the sort of thread that we can have in a forum dedicated to all animes under the sun. Otherwise, we'd have to have threads like this about every fight couple from every anime series, and that would give thousands of topics about things that could easily be resolved in a fanfic. Even specifying why wouldn't be enough to save the thread. Don't take it personally, though. It's nothing against you. It's along the same sorts of lines as afavourites thread which, without careful supervision, would (and have in the past) degenerate into short, spammy, pointless replies. Try checking out the .hack//SIGN archive forum- you might find something of interest in there. If you have any further questions, feel free to send a Private Message.
 22. I'm sure this has been done somewhere before, heh. But anyway- since this is verging on being a 'favourites' thread, I'd like to ask those who reply to all explain exactly why it is that the characters would be your chosen anime boyfriend/girlfriend. Otherwise this'll turn into a spam thread very quickly, and it'll hence be closed even more quickly.
 23. Welcome to OtakuBoards, Blackrose_. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to close this thread. Not only is there a .hack//SIGN discussion thread already open, but this is the kind of question that leads to short, spammy replies in threads that we try to avoid. OtakuBoards is about quality of posts, which means the longer, more detailed and more interesting your reply, the better. Take a look at the Rules or FAQ if there's anything you're unsure of. And feel free to PM me or any other Moderator if there's anything else you feel needs explaining. Thread closed.
 24. I can't actually remember why I wanted to be a Moderator. I guess it was because when I first joined OB I thought it was the best thing in the world and wanted to be a real part of what went on behind the scenes, so to speak. As time went on, I started to get annoyed with the arguments and spam that sometimes broke into the forum and wanted to do something physical about it. Reporting posts to a Moderator is useful stuff, but it doesn't quite give you as much satisfaction. And I do get satisfaction from making sure people don't make mistakes. Admittedly over the last few months my messages have been getting more and more on the frustrated side simply because I've been so busy, and coming home to a forum full of spam posts isn't really what you want after a hard slog at college. But I still enjoy it, and it's not because of a power trip. It's nice to get 'Thank you's from people you've helped out, so you know that you'e done something to help them. Unfortunately, it's not always a positive message that you have to give out, which I still find can be a little disconcerting at times. But I always try and remain patient and non-confrontational about it where I can. I don't like bossing people around, no matter how much of a Grammar Nazi I am (and I really am, when it comes down to it). Of course, in a community such as OB the Staff do get a lot of respect. And it's a title to put to your name as well. I won't deny that that was part of it all. But it really doesn't make a huge amount of difference- I don't post a huge amount, and when I do what I say isn't replied to specifically more than anyone else's- I think the people who weild the greatest respect are those who are friendliest, most creative and those can put across their knowledge into a decent argument and still accept those of others. After all, this is a discussion forum. But when James did ask me if I wanted to be a Moderator I went weak at the knees. It was in the middle of an Evangelion episode on November 30th 2002, heh. I remember it that well ^_~ I'm really glad that I was chosen, and as long as I am still a Mod I'll continue to do my best for everyone. Were I taken off Staff I guess I'd feel a little lost at first, but I'm proud to have even been selected in the first place.
 25.
dude I LOVE digimon it rox and no im not a freak!
teinshu, this post is simply appalling. I suggest you take a look at the OtakuBoards Rules before you post any further. Not only is it far too short, the grammar and punctuation are pretty much non-existant. You needto add as much detail as you can to make the posts interesting to read for everyone else. Since it was spam, I have deleted it. Please put a lot more thought and effort into your future replies.
