This could easily have been put into a signature. In future, please don't start topics like this. The forum is for discussing the anime, and there's a thread already been started about .hack//SIGN. There's also an Anime Archive forum devoted to it if you want to read over past discussions. Please put more effort into your posts, rat224. Spelling, proper capitalisation and post length are all sub-par here. Put as much detail into a post as possible, and try and make it sound coherent. Since text is the only way to communicate here, if you can't present yourself well, the chances are people won't want to talk to you. Not to mention, poor posts are against OtakuBards rules (which I suggest you take a look at). Thread closed. If you have any further questions, feel free to PM me or any other Moderator of your choice.

Anime Where else besides Cartoon network
Solo Tremaine replied to Deathsite's topic in Otaku Central
Is there anywhere else besides cartoon network where i can watch really cool anime. Just a few years back i had no idea what anime was untill i fliped to cartoon networks toonami and started to watch Gundam Wing, i loved it i saw all 49 epidsodes and now gundam is my favorite show ever, and just recently i started wathcing Trigun i love that show almost as mutch as gundam, and cowboy bebop and all that and a little bit of inuyasha but i am sure there are lots of great animes out there, but when and where can i find them
I would check your TV listings and see if there's anything you recognise being shown on the channels you can receive. Most of it's all mainstream children's stuff though (i.e. Pokemon, Dragonball, etc), so I wouldn't hold your breath for anything really exciting. Whenever I watch an imported US anime DVD, it always tells me about something called the Anime Network available on cable. I think it's one you have to subscribe to, assuming it's actually been launched yet.And if it hasn't, then you could always find out about getting rigged up to it. Deathsite, try and refine your posts please. Spelling, punctuation and correct grammar go a long way at OtakuBoards, as does paragraphing and spacing. having everything in one long continuous sentance gets boring and straining to read after a while. Anyway, the Sticky Thread at the top of the page should be where scheduling discussion belongs. I hope this thread's been of help to you, but for now, I'm going to close it. The thread at the top of the page is updated regularly anyway, so you won't be that far from any new scheduling/programme news. -
Having looked at an anime lyrics site, I can see no less than seven Ending themes for Yu Yu Hakusho. Daydream Generation and Homework ga Owaranai seem to be the earliest two *shrugs* I also merged this thread with the original Yu Yu Hakusho discussion. Be sure to check for existing anime threads before starting another. It's neater, and you might even find the answer to the question already in there. If you don't, then it's a good place to ask, heh.

Writing OtakuBoards: Enter the Net [PG]
Solo Tremaine replied to Solo Tremaine's topic in Creative Works
By the way, when referring to a plushie, they are usually known as "Mini-SoandSo." Such as Mini-Ken, the most famous plushie of all. And let's not forget Mini-Shy who ranaway and eloped with Mini-Asuka, heh. Good times, good times. I can't wait for more chapters, whether the fate of version 7 or no. ^_^[/size']
*slaps self* I can't believe I forgot that! Goes to show how long it's been since I was last able to write anything, heh. By the way; I know I use the plushie terms and quite a few inside jokes a lot, but I'm not trying to take credit for any of them. The jokes are and will always remain ideas of those who created them. Just something that came into my mind yesterday. Thanks for the feedback, though. I'll get started on the next chapter as soon as I can ^_^ -
Writing OtakuBoards: Enter the Net [PG]
Solo Tremaine replied to Solo Tremaine's topic in Creative Works
In lieu of not having a real chapter to update with, I've started writing small sketches involving Enter the Net characters. These, since they're smaller versions of the chapters themselves, I've dubbed 'Plushies'. Here's the first ^_^ Enter the Net Plushie: G07 C0FF33? Plushie James was sat at his Plushie Admin Desk, thinking thoughts that only a Plushie James can think when sat at a Plushie Admin Desk, when in walked Plushie Solo, carrying a tray of coffee and coffee accessories. "Want some coffee?" Solo asked brightly. Plushie-James contemplated the possibility of having coffee for a few seconds, then nodded and smiled. Solo grinned approvingly and placed the tray onto his desk. "With milk?" James nodded. "How much?" "Oh? enough." Solo looked confused. "How much is enough?" James shrugged. "Enough is enough." "And rightly so." Solo said firmly. "Now, how much milk do you want?" A look of perplexity swarmed over James? plushie face. "Erm?" Solo sighed. "Look, I?ll start pouring and you just say ?When?, alright?" "When?" "I haven?t started yet." "No, I mean ?Why ?when???" "It?s just ?when?." "I know that, but why ?when??" "Why when what?" "One question at a time!" "You?re the one asking questions!" "Yes? no? I mean? wait." "Wait what? When?" "No!" "What do you mean ?no?? That?s how it?s been for years!" "You?re missing the point!" "And you?re missing your hot coffee! Now tell me how much bloody milk you want!" Solo held the milk jug threateningly over James? cup of coffee, which was getting colder by the minute. James sighed. "Alright, just start." "Say ?when?." Solo growled. "When?" "Whenever you need to." "Whenever I need to what?" "Say ?when?." "That makes no sense." "You make no sense, James! Just say it!" "Why?" "No, WHEN!" "Why say ?when??" "That makes no sense!" "Exactly!" James cried. Very very weak coffee was starting to run onto the desk. "What?" "See, even you think ?When? is a stupid thing to say!" "I never said that!" "You just did." "No, I was saying ?What?? to your ?Exactly!?. There was no ?When? about it." "And since when was ?When? anything to do with making coffee?" "Just then." "When?" "At last!" Solo pulled the milk jug away from the coffee and the two inspected the drink. Cold, incredibly milky coffee covered the desk and the floor, dripping milkily from James? mug. "You know what, James?" Plushie-Solo mused, watching the river of beige liquid creep slowly towards the door. "Next time, you can make your own coffee." -
Anime At what age did you start watching anime?
Solo Tremaine replied to Elk's topic in Otaku Central
Ahh, well, sorry, my bad. "I was 4 and it was Astro Boy and it was love at first sight." That's the truth. I got hooked very quickly on the aesthetics of the animation, since it was like nothing I had seen before, in both execution and design. I'm still horribly shallow in that respect; if the art and animation in an anime is no good, I can't watch it. No matter how good the story is. Also, I liked the stories, obviously. I've always been into SF, so that probably also explains the attraction. There were other animes and weird cartoons on when I was that age too. Stuff like the Lost Cities of Gold and Spartacus and the Sun Under the Sea (French production) but they just didn't have that same kick (yeah, I got addicted :) ) that Astro did. Now they're showing the new Astro Boy series on TV, I'm a very happy fangirl. So, um, is that enough?
That's great ^_^ Thanks. But you remember Mysterious Cities of Gold?! That's amazing. I thought I was the only one around who knew about it, heh. That was probably the very first non-US/UK animation I'd seen. I loved the storyline and the characters- everything about it just stood out that much more than the other TV programmes that were around. I liked He-Man and Thundercats, but MCOG actually had a real, long and diverse story to it. But as it was a Franco-Japanese animation, I'm not sure how strongly it counts as anime. But there is a sequel to it currently in production... But I know what you mean about aesthetics- I'm the same way inclined. As much as people tell me Akira's a 'classic masterpiece', I don't want to watch it because I don't really like the style it's drawn in. I was even a little cautious about Castle in the Sky, but I was glad I bought it again anyway. A lot of modern animes are going for the thinner, spikier, slightly more mature and elegant look than the older, rounded ones though, so I'm happy. The first pure Japanese anime I was really hooked on was Pokemon- I bought an N64 Magazine one day to look at Fox McCloud and I was indoctrinated through there. All the Nintendo coverage made it hard to ignore, heh. Thakfully, before too long I moved from that to Digimon (which I think is a far more superior series), Card Captors and so-on. I've not yet seen as many as some people *coughs*Dagger*coughs* (^_~), but I'm still eager to see more. -
id start with flcl then go to outlawstar ortrigun
Did you even read Dagger's message? This post is terrible spam. Bank Holidays really aren't that honourable ^_^; They're just times when banks are closed, and there are about... eight every year, I think. Two are in May, one's in August and the rest are in December/January and over Easter, I think. They're basically holidays that aren't religious in any way, but give people a chance to have a day off anyway. That's about as cultural as national British holidays get. But even, they apply more to England than Scotland and Ireland- they have their own Bank Holiday days, as well as Saint Whatever-their-patron-saints-are's day. We don't even get St George's day off >.> Bonfire Night is pretty cool, though, if you can find a decent fireworks display. Our house is in the middle of several small villages with a big city to the South-West- coming up to November there are fireworks displays wherever you look in the evening. At least, you'd be able to se them if there weren't so many bloody trees surrounding our house >.> And they get noisy, too.Thankfully we have triple-glazing, but you can still hear all the bangs. It's alright unless you're trying to get to sleep, really.

Chances are that you've just been unlucky with your choices, heh. Threads are always closed for a reason, and I know for a fact that there are more open ones than closed. Just keep looking. Generally, threads are closed because the posts inside are spam- either an argument's developed or perhaps the subject matter was pretty questionable in terms of discursive value anyway. If you're unsure as to what constitutes as spam to get a better idea of closed threads, take a look at the Rules. That outlines most, if not all cases of spam. In the cases of closed threads at the top of the forum display, they've probably been put there by the Moderators of those forum to explain rules that apply to a particular section, or just contain advice/information about the forum itself. Since Mods can't create announcements, the thread is Stickied and then closed.

I love this, Shin ^__^ I wish I'd started reading it sooner, heh. The premise is great. I love the descriptive style you have, they way everything's depicted is reflective of the story itself, and the new, creepy artificial world that seems to have been created. The dialogue's well-written too. I couldn't help reading the man in black's lines aloud to try and find a voice for him. One thing I noticed about the first chapter, and a few times later on, is the repetition of individual words or phrases in paragraphs. As I first started reading it, I kept coming across 'hospital'. It's kind of odd. But the whole thing's good, and it's kind of indicative of the new place that Jacob's found himself in anyway, so it's not really a biggie. I'd try not to repeat too much that often though- the more variety in your sentences you can get, the richer the overall picture. But yeah, really great stuff ^_^ I look forward to the next chapter.

If you need help, it's best to PM a Moderator rather than post in a thread. And certainly not a thread that's over two and a half years old and a poor example of post quality o_o; It's also an idea to be specific about what sort of help you want. This'll make it much easier for anyone to give you advice. If you're unsure as to how the site works, there's both a Rules page and an FAQ, which are both essential reading. If there's something you're still unsure of, feel free to PM me or any other Moderator you like. As another word of advice- please make full use of capitalisation and proper grammar as much as you can. It's all explained in the Rules. Have fun!
I've actually thought about cutting too but I'm afraid I might get hooked to it also.[/color']
Don't start doing it yourself- if anything that will reinforce her need to keep cutting: she might feel like it's her fault that you started doing it and so feel guilty about it, get more depressed and then cut herself more. Or, if nothing else, she won't feel that she has a need to stop, because you're doing it with her. I have a few friends who cut themselves, but they often don't realise the damage they cause to those around them. At least Ally knows she wants to stop- that's getting one step closer. It sounds like you're doing all you can at the moment. Just be there for her when she needs you, and try and keep her occupied with other things. Maybe you could try asking her to phone you whenever she feels like cutting herself and then talk about it instead. That might help take her mind off it at the time. Good luck.

Official Technical Problems Thread for OB7
Solo Tremaine replied to James's topic in Help & Feedback
Upon seeing James' latest announcement, I thought I'd try and add an event of my own to the nifty OB Calendar. But whenever I try to I'm sent to a page that tells me I'm not authorised to do so, or that my account lacks that certain privilege. Is my computer acting up, or is it something only an Admin can modify? -
Gaming .hack//INFECTION / MUTATION / OUTBREAK / QUARANTINE
Solo Tremaine replied to DotHacker32's topic in Noosphere
Gaming discussion should really go into the Play It! forum, which is where all console-related discussion belongs. So, I shall move this there and I hope you'll be more successful with your quest for knowledge. But in general, I would try and be more specific about what it is you want, and add more detail to your posts. Is it advice for as to how to complete the games you want, or recommendations of others you might enjoy? -
hi guys!!! i'm new here!!! just registered now!!1 i really LOVE Get Backers!!! it's my favorite anime of all time!!! i like the story and there are so many bishounens too!!! IT'S REALLY COOL!!!! and..... i hope we can be friends everyone!!! :babble:
I suggest you take a look at the Rules, umi amano. I understand that you're new, but there are a few problems with this post. Please add more detail to your posts in future- this really isn't enough, especially as some of it doesn't relate to the topic at hand. If you like a series, explain in as much detail as you can as to why you like it. I mean, really properly elaborate on it. Don't forget to use proper punctuation as well (and preferably not in excess, either). If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or any other Moderator of your choice.
I personally liked seasons 1,2, and 3 the best..
artmasta, please put more thought into your posts. This is not enough. One-sentence posts are against OtakuBoards rules, which is why I've deleted your post. It's all very well saying which series you like, but why do you like them? These messages are written to be read, so they might as well be made interesting for everyone else to read. For the record, you're not supposed to double-post either. I'm not saying you did: I am, because I need to moderate. I just don't want to set a bad example.

atmasta, I merged your thread with the original Digimon one, seeing as the dicsussion could be continued in here/there. With regards to Season 2... I liked it because it was a continuation of the first series, but I think it could have been much much better. In its dialogue, its story, its characters, almost everything. I never actually saw the last four episodes until a few weeks ago. Although they were sappy, clicheed and felt somewhat contrived, I have to admit that I did enjoy them. Although that might just have been because I hadn't seen them yet. I thought BlackWarGreymon was a great character but his potential was never really drawn out- in the end his bits always came off as irritating because the dialogue was so confusing. The Digimon 02 manga (although heavily abridged) takes his character really well, I think. It certainly cuts out a lot of the unnecessary stuff. I'd love Digimon to return more than any other series I've watched, but I don't think it'll happen anytime soon. There's nothing really new they can bring to the series: almost everything possible's already been done in terms of general situation and story, save for having Digimon travelling around on their own. But even then, the structure of the enemies would always be the same as those Seasons previous. We'll have to see, though.
I'm hoping that someone will release Tamers on DVD. ABC family/Disney own the rights, I believe. (I'm also still looking for the Beelzemon Digi-Warrior, if anyone knows where to find one. ^^; )
Tamers DVDs would be amazing. I was surprised they never released anything past the first 13 episodes of Season 1 on DVD. It would have made sense to bring the rest of it out... I have a Beelzemon Blast Mode figure, heh. And it's a Japanse one, too. No skimping on paint here. The US releases aren't nearly as detailed... but I don't know where to find another one. I found this one for £4 in a bargain toy shop in Portsmouth, UK. Whether they're still avaliable on the internet I've no idea. If I find anywhere I'll be sure to let you know.

Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
Solo Tremaine replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
Okay. I've been watching Adult Swim on Saturday nights. What is the basic plot of FLCL? I have watched a few episodes, but haven't gotten much out of it. I will admit it's left me quite puzzled. Sumimasen, y'all!
There's a very large FLCL thread here, where you can find out lots about said series. This isn't realy the right place to ask about a particular anime series- this is about scheduling, primarily. If you want to discuss an anime, run a search of the forum to see if there's a thread already started about it and continue discussion there. -
You mean I have to wait until November to get my Starfox fix? I blame you, Semjaza :p This game's the one I've been waiting for most since getting the GameCube. If it's being developed by a team with such a good reputation but still hopefully plays at least as well as the original then I should hardly think there'd be much to complain about. My only gripe with Lylat Wars (64) was the multiplayer. It really wasn't fun, and seemed added on anly as an after-thought. But this looks simply fabulous. I'm glad they stuck with the Rare SFA-style designs- I prefer them even to Nintendo's own Fox model in Smash Bros Melee. Judging by the snapshot of the Briefing there, I hope this'll have some kind of plot to it. Or at least a decent amount of character interaction in-game. I enjoyed listening to Falco and co arguing over their communicators. It's hardly a major gaming point, just something aesthetic I'd like to see again. It's going to be a long six months for me, I can tell.

The senior officer sat in the darkened room, his hands shaking. Next to him was a phone, covered in dusty fingerprints, a cracked reciever half-resting on its cradle. He knew he'd be going against the General's orders. He knew that the General would find out. But the General had been getting more and more extreme for months. The first few years were dedicated to establishing a firm military base for humans to protect themselves. Then, he wanted to start taking Digimon prisoner, to question them about their weaknesses. That's when the accident had happened. Thankfully, a team of advanced bioengineering mechanics had survived the initial cataclysm and managed to construst an artificial body for the General's damaged limbs. That was when he lost his humanity, his morality, the very things he accused of Digimon of lacking. The next few months were brutal. Any Digimon nearby was killed on the spot; those who survived the attack were taken in for brutal torture and questioning, facing a long and drawn-out execution. The General would watch every moment of their pain, a sick expression of pleasure on his face, as if he was doing them justice. Nothing deserved that. And the senior officer knew well that it wasn't just digimon who the General would kill. Human who refused to join the military colony were killed too- a hinderance to the divine plans. It had to stop. Slowly, the officer reached for the phone. "Commander Branit? This is Imahori. The assignment is to go ahead... but the brief has changed. The plan goes ahead as normal, but agents are to go without reinforcements and are warned not to engage until the situation is fully investigated and the intentions of the group are known. I understand it's little more than infiltration and reconnaissance, but it is vital that this is followed. Maintain radio silence until you return." He placed the phone back on the reciever without waiting for the reply. His hands still shaking, Imahori quietly made his way down to the armoury... * * * Fladramon swing himself round at the sound of his name being called. He saw Gatomon striding up towards him and he gave a smile. "Well, fancy seeing you here." he mused, stretching his back muscles. Opossummon shied away from Gatomon, hiding his face behind the bowl of digital medi-cream. "Can't get rid of me that easily." Gatomon smirked. "How are you holding up?" Fladramon gently prodded the slowly sealing wound in his side. "Better." As he spoke, he felt an empty feeling open inside his stomach and a low gurgle escape from his midriff. "Eheh, I'll recover more quickly if I can eat something, though." he added quickly, scratching his head. He went to stand up, then noticed that something was missing. Opossummon was walking away when Fladramon caught his eye. "Where's my bag?" he said urgently. "Oh, it's... oh." Opossummon mumbled anxiously, trying not to drop the bowl. "Oh, I know! Thay have it in the chamber. Follow me." Gatomon and Fladramon travelled down dark cavernous corridors lit solely by dim lightbulbs and the occasional torch chained to a wall. Cables ran along the ground, leading off from darker tunnels and converging in an area up ahead. The stone floors were lined with metal grates, noisy clanks echoing with every step. A bright white light lay ahead of them as they ascended a slope. The two traveling digimon exchanged apprehensive looks before following the nervous Opossummon into the huge cave. When they entered, the sight of the crystal computer dazzled their eyes. Digimon and humans ran about in different directions, carrying electrical equipment, other humans and digimon. "What is this?" Fladramon gaped in awe. Opossummon bounded over to a man with youthful looks and long black hair. He smiled. "Ah, you're awake. I hope we didn't surprise you." "Surprise?" Gatomon spat. "Please, it'll take more than that." The human tilted his head, shrugged and continued. "This is where we regulate the structure of the world. Since the cataclysm joined the two together, the land is very unstable. We work constantly to keep the balance and prevent the planet from falling apart." Fladramon listened, trying to convince himself he could take it all in. Digimon and humans were working together en mass. He never thought he'd see anything like this in hs lifetime. Questions began flooding into his mind. Was the world really in such a critical condition? What did they need to do? One question pushed itself out in front of all others. "Where's my stuff?"

Yeah, but unfortunately this thread doesn't. I suggest you take a good look at the Rules before posting again. To be brief: -Your post is too short for OtakuBoards standards and lacks decent discursive material. Threads started at OB have to be good enough to warrant being continued, so you'd need far more detail to even think about keeping this up. Please put more thought and effort into future posts. -There are threads about Trigun and Outlaw Star already- just look in the Official Thread Directory Sticky at the top of the Anime Lounge. Check existing threads carefully to see if one isn't already open. -There are too many smilies in your post- posts that constitute almost entirely of images that have no retalion to the topic at hand are considered spam, and are hence deleted. For those reasons, I'm closing this thread. I understand that you're new, but it would be an idea to look over a Forum's regulations before getting fully started. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or any other Moderator of your choice. Thread closed.

Mamoru, densuke- please don't start arguing. It's pointless. If you really want to nit-pick at each other's statements, do it via PM. Let's keep to the discussion at hand.
I prefer the OAV because it is less bogged down in RPG-style filler and the story of the friendship among the three girls works better. There are some awfully talky scenes but the basic plot is fairly straightforward and there is much less of the cruel betrayal of the characters and fans that the TV series is noted for.
Oh yeah- the filler in both seasons did get irritating, especially in the second. Like CardCaptor Sakura, it seemed to take forever to reveal a plot point that was really rather obvious from near the beginning.
A comparison would be actually 'finding out' that Nova was created by Hikaru and 'finding out' that Eli was Clow Reed/his messanger (I forget which- I stopped paying attention part-way through). CardCaptor Sakura was more frustrating though, because the dub was so bad.
But I still think the OAV was too condensed. I watched it again today and some of the more interesting things about it were never really explained.
What was the Divine Test that Clef was talking about? Why was Emeraude seemingly wishing for Earth to be destroyed when in a peaceful dream?
I could try and work out a theory for myself if I sat and thought about it for long enough, but it still would have been nicer to have had it explained, and also to find out more about Cephiro and the different characters as they were in that series as opposed to the originals. I still really enjoyed it, though. The mech designs were really cool, heh. Better than the Rune Gods in MKR.

The Dark Flare Sheild and Sword (along with Flare's armour) are magical weapons that together prevent Flare from coming to harm from any physical attacks. Special Ability/Abilities: The Dark Flare Knight is impervious to pain from physical attacks, but is still damaged when hit hard enough. Hence, he can keep fighting even when severely injured. He can still die History: Flare was brought up under the teachings of the Dark Magician ancestry (which he himself belongs to) in order to become a Spellcaster. However, when he was 10 (only an Apprentice Magician), he was involved in a battle near the outskirts of the Dark kingdom. A malfunctioning Jinzo had created an army of machines to try and overthrow the Dark Paladin, and had launched an all-out attack. Flare, in a rather badly-planned act of bravery, tried to take out Jinzo himself. He was hit by a blast from a Spell Canceler- a machine with the ability to remove all magical powers from a being, and was almost killed. After the battle, Flare was in severe pain and spent weeks recovering in healing springs. Members of the Dark Magician family, due to their heritage, are able to magically regenerate their health at an accelerated rate in the right conditions. Being hit by the Spall Canceler had, in effect, removed him from this heritage in all but his name. Although unable to continue with his Spellcasting and hence lose his right to a proper initiation into the Dark Magician Sect, Flare had a permanent procecting spell cast over him so that he would never be able to feel pain. From the Dark kingdom's weapon forges he was given his magical armour and weaponary, which help keep him safe. Soon after he had recovered, he left the kingdom to be trained as a fighter by a Sword Hunter, and came back to command a large section of the Dark armies. He knows that he will never be able to rise high into the Dark ranks, but is still loyal to his ruler and distant relative the Dark Paladin. Currently, Flare is on patrol on the outskirts of the Dark kingdom, trying to protect those living in the towns and villages from harm.
