Monsters: 23 Tribute & Ritual Monsters Performance of Sword Swordstalker Dark Magician Invitation to a Dark Sleep
I'd take out Performance of Sword. Even the best Ritual Monsters tend to be fairly awkward with all of the support you need for them, and there are better ones around, heh. You'd probably do better with a normal 5 or 6-Star Tribute monster with a much higher ATK. 1950 really isn't all that much. Archfiend Soldier's only 50 shy of that, and is a 4-Starer.
Non-Tribute Monsters Sonic Bird x2 Witch of the Black Forest Armed Ninja Old Vindictive Magician Pixie Knight Trap Master Hayabusa Knight Queen's Double Hane-Hane D. Fladramon didn't get far. He stumbled through the trees and collapsed at the root of a giant digital tree, gasping for breath. Okay, perhaps it was more than a graze. The blood coated his flank, trickled down his leg and disappeared into the water-soaked ground. Heaving himself into a sitting position, he fumbled around in his bag for something to stem the flow from the injury. Small utility items fell onto the ground with wet thuds as he desperately pulled out anything that could be of use. A compass, redundant now anyway because of the world's erratic magnetic pull, splashed into a puddle and began floating gently down a slope- Fladramon didn't notice. He grabbed an old and torn scrap of paper. It seemed to be all that was left, apart from his digivice. He grabbed the two top corners of the crumpled sheet and held it out in front of him, ready to tear it in two. Seconds passed. A minute passed. He couldn't do it. Every time he looked at the map, memories came flooding back. * * * "What are you doing?" "Ha, I'm drawing a map." "You don't have to laugh. I've never seen one of those before." "Well, humans use them so they can get their bearings and stop them from getting lost. Since the world's changed, we need new maps." "But... why bother? It's not like we have anywhere to go back to." "It's not for us." "Then..." "When it's finished, it'll show the entire world. Then it can be copied and we can start trying to rebuild the world that we lost." "You think you can do all that with a map?" "No, not just a map. But it's a start." * * * Fladramon carefully folded the map back up again and placed it into the bottom of the bag next to the Digivice. He looked around him and picked up the various objects that he'd thrown out in search of a bandage. "Damn sentiment... I must have-" He froze. A small white digimon with a purple striped tail and green clawed gloves stood twenty feet away. In her claw was his compass. She wore an expression of cold curiosity, examining the device carefully while still keeping an eye on Fladramon. "You collect these or what?" the Gatomon sneered. Fladramon stood upright, trying to hide his injury- he was at least three times her size anyway, regardless of his degree of incapacity. "That's none of your business. Give it back." Gatomon's eyes narrowed slightly and a sly grin crept onto her face. "Or what, pray tell? With a bullet wound that big you're not going anywhere soon... or perhaps you just won't be going anywhere at all." Fladramon tensed. "What do you want?" The Gatomon turned the compass over in her hand, snorted and threw it back to Fladramon. "Nothing." Fladramon watched her disappear into the undergrowth, feeling thankful that she'd left him alone without doing him any more harm, but also slightly disappointed that she didn't stay for longer. It wasn't often he had as neutral a conversation as that. Slowly and painfully, he began making his way back towards the city. If he'd actually been able to plan ahead he mght have thought about getting more medical supplies beforehand, but he'd only ever known one person smart enough to do that, and he was... The digimon let out a yelp of pain as his foot slipped over a wet stone, stretching the muscles in his injured side and opening the wound further. "Shut up, you idiot..." Fladramon gritted his teeth and spat out a mouthful of bloody rainwater as his claws touched the concrete surface.

Perhaps a card like Pyramid Energy mightn't go amiss here. Considering you play in a style without staples, there isn't a huge amount I can actually suggest. Play it and see how it fares. If it doesn't do so well, find out why and see what you can do to change it *shrugs* That'll probably get you better information about how good it actually is than anything said here.

You can discuss Cartoon Network's rescheduling habits and broadcasting times in the Sticky at the top of the page. As for this thread... I'm going to close it, because I don't think it'll bring much more scope for discussion. If you want to talk about Yu-Yu-Hakusho you can start another thread, so long as it's detailed and coherent enough. Try not to use too many abbreviations either. Full words are more interesting to read and it makes posts generally neater. Welcome to the Boards, mirokulover. Be sure to read the Rules. *collapses* For pete's sake! *strangles post* I apologise for the formatting in this message; it's been a disaster trying to put it up. OOC: Remember the state the world's in, guys. There are very few normal cities left; most have been forced to live underground in deserts, arctic regions, mountains etc. Most of the outposts of civilisation left are military ones, and as such are heavily guarded. Most combat vehicles won't stand up to much Digimon punishment though. Takuya, Blanko- don't go too crazy with posting. I did say when I started that there would be a limit of two posts per person per day. I want to make sure everyone's up to the same point in the RPG because soon I'll be advancing the plot and a fair amount has to be taken in. I know it's all mostly character development stuff and that's not a bad thing; I just don't want everyone else to get lost in posts. I will nag anyone by PM if I have to. * * * * * * * * * * * A group of military officers stood in a dark room, dimly lit by a single light bulb hanging limply from the ceiling. "So, how much longer should we wait?" one asked quietly. Everyone's attention turned to a huge bulk of a man standing at the end of the room. He could hear the quiet click of an ammunition pack being slid covertly into place. He had to make a break for it before he got too close. But his digivice was still lying on the floor somewhere. He didn't want to lose it. Suddenly, he heard a 'click' outside the door. The human leapt backwards at the same instant, desperately firing the assault rifle at the digimon. The volley of bullets shattered ceiling tiles but damaged little else as Fladramon sprinted towards the door. A second shower of bullets came from behind him, narrowly missing his neck and arms. One grazed his left flank, stunning him. He stumbled and fell sideways into a shelf, spilling its contents all over the floor. He hurriedly picked himself up, ignoring the blood that had splattered over him and ran for cover. More bullets zipped past as he dived behind a wall, taking a short moment to catch his breath. He couldn't use his attacks here- the building was so unstable it could collapse if the ceiling above gave way. "Great, trapped." How dare he touch that? The human quickly looked around, then made a bolt for the door. Fladramon roared, the rain pouring down his body. The man looked around desperately for a clue as to what he had taken. "I-I don't-" Flamedramon let out a furious yell and punched his claws into the fabric of the man's coat, singeing the fabric. "It's in your pocket, give it to me!" he yelled. Quaking in terror, the man removed the digivice form his pocket and handed it to Fladramon, who snatched it form him and shoved it into his bag. OOC: Here comes the plotline... Remember, not too many posts per person per day. Give other people a chance to post as well, heh. I am often busy with things, but where I can I'll try to keep up. Thanks, guys ^_^ ---------------------------- A cave shrouded in darkness deep in the Himalaya mountains brimmed with activity. Digimon and humans ran about in dim light carrying computer terminals, coils of wire and assorted pieces of metal. In a larger cavern, away from the large network of tunnels, stood a massive crystal pillar of light, from it stemming wires, cables, electrodes and several large computer systems. A large Maildramon paced around the room while a Digmon typed away at a modified keyboard. "Why can't we go and look for it ourselves?" Maildramon growled. "It's ridiculous sitting here doing nothing." "Because without our help this world would have disappeared long ago." The Digmon said, not taking her eyes from the screen. "You know as well as the rest of us that if we leave here then everything we've strived for will be destroyed. We have to let the world know about the-" "The world stopped listening years ago!" Maildramon roared. "Haven't you figured that out yet?" "Just because you might have given up on this planet doesn't mean I have to. There's still hope." "Hope? More like blind stupidity. Best to cut our losses and start again." "I won't forsake the human race! Now that our worlds have been bound together we need them more than ever. They aren't all evil." "I don't care. Look what they did to our planet! Your planet! They even desecrated their own world. They deserve everything they get." "THAT'S ENOUGH!" a booming voice yelled, its sound rumbing throughout every corner of the cave. For a human, he commanded great respect from the Digimon. "How many signals do we have?" the casually-dressed man strode over to the Digmon and watched the computer screen. On it was a map of the world covered in small green and red dots. "67 active, 538 in total." "Damn, it's not enough. I was hoping we'd be able to get more than that. Any idea who has them?" Digmon took her drill claws away from the keyboard momentarily to switch to another computer screen, then immediately continued typing. "There are several large stockpiles around the world; some are in the Digimon territory, most with the humans." The man ran his fingers through his hairand closed his eyes in deep thought. "Alright. We haven't much time left. Let's get in as many of those active signals as we can and hope that they aren't all being used by bandits." "Yes sir." * * * Flamedramon couldn't read. He didn't see the point of learning. After all, when were battles won by reading? Some of the human activities seemed so trivial in the grand scheme of things. No self-respecting Seadramon would let its prey get away if it could read it a bedtime story. He glanced over the multi-coloured packets lining the shelves and covering the floor, occasionally puncturing a more interesting one with his claw and sniffing the contents to check if it seemed edible. He picked up a tin labelled 'Bird's Best Anchovies' (he could only guess it was food) and sliced off the lid. The burning stench of salty rotten fish seered his nostrils. With a yell of disgust, he threw it across the store. He had tried learning to read once, but since he didn't have a human around to teach him anymore there was little point trying. He recognised words like 'DANGER', 'BRIDGE and 'FOOD', if only because he happened to come across them more than anything else. He grabbed a few tins of soup and shoved them into his bag. As he pulled his claw out, it caught on something which fell on the floor, its white screen glowing slightly. It rolled underneath a stack of shelves and disappeared from sight. "Crap, where is it?" he hissed, scrabbling around the floor and sending packets of food flying into the air. Suddenly, he froze. He could hear footsteps creaking on the old broken tiles. Slowly, he drew himself to his feet and crept towards a storeroom.

Hittokiri, Volshard, please don't start throwing personal comments about. This is the last thing we need.
The person who made this topic is directing Duel masters as an imitation of Yuugiou, when it is closely like MTG more than anything.
The thread was originally started to compare the two animes, rather than the CCGs. It just developed into that, seeing as the two are so heavily involved with one another. There's no doubt that Duel Masters is more or less a revision of Magic: The Gathering. Both these games and Yu-Gi-Oh have different styles of playing and different rules. Trying to compare them in terms of playability doesn't work because they just aren't the same, and as such attract different playing styles. I personally prefer Yu-Gi-Oh, but I never said that M:TG or Duel Masters were bad games just because I didn't play them. I'm just not interested in them.
Digimon. Digimon was a series I liked during Series 1, the original DigiDestined. That was original. That was fun. That was interesting. Series 2 seemed to try and milk off of Series 1. The third Series I found boring, lacking the same appeal as the first. The fourth, I couldn't bear to watch. I liked Digimon initially, but as Seasons went by, I drifted away. Just like... Pokémon. Fun Anime for kids at first. Great craze many people went wild for. Long quest with good friends. Very long quest. Lots of gyms. Lots and lots of gyms. Geez, does that guy's feet ever get tired?
I'd have to disagree with Digimon- the only Season I wouldn't be disappointed in seeing again would be Season 2- I thought Season Three was the best out of all of them. I'm interested to see Season 4 as well, but I won't be disappointed if I don't. Pokemon was really good for the five episodes where Ash was in the Indgo Plateau championship- the story was actually going somewhere wuickly and it was exciting to actually see what happened. I was so annoyed that it went back to its usual routine after that. I don't watch it anymore.
Metropolis. Intersting concept. Strange animation.. Confusing story... The movie just wasn't entertaining for me. It didn't really make me think either. I tried to visualize what the anime was about, but in the end I just gave up.
I didn't think that much of Metropolis either. Unfortunately it's the only actual anime that Sky will broadcast on their movie channels, so in terms of anime movie TV it's one of the few on. I mostly used it as voice-actor spotting, seeing as I'd heard most of them in other animes I'd already seen.
Blue Gender is one of the worst anime shows I ever saw, if not the worst. the characters were annoying and boarderline psychotic, and the show seemed to make up its own rules as it went along. The only reason I even watched it was because it aired between Furi Kuri and Inu-Yasha.
I didn't mind Blue Gender too much, although it just wasn't as good as some of the other serii I've watched. The slow dialogue did get a little frustrating at times, though, and it could have been more slick generally. A lot of the really old animes are ones I don't like- The Wind of Amnesia, MADOX-01, Takegami, etc. The storyline in all three (well, not MADOX) are confusing and underdeveloped, and the dialogue's not up to the standard of a lot of the more recent ones. I only watched Takegami because it was on, heh. I don't like any of the DragonBall series. The animation's not too bad, but I don't like the characters, their design or the plot. It's just not my style of action anyway. The voices on the Toonami-aired dub (I gather there are several versions) are teeth-clenchingly annoying to boot.
The point is, that theme is worn out. Do we know much about the plot? No, I'll give you that, but what more do we need to know? I'll keep an open mind and watch the movie, but I can not lie about what is truth. The American corporation changed an original and fun manga concept, a boy playing games with a dark spirit inside of him, to another stereotypical sell-out. Does money run the world? Maybe. That would mean that it's money that is destroying this work that so many have loved for years. That's enough to make a fuss about. -ArV
I've almost given up trying to deny that I'll like something when it comes to anime, because more often than not I'll end up liking it anyway. The Yu-Gi-Oh series is on the verge of boring me now, even in the midst of the Yugi vs Kaiba semi-finals. If this Yu-Gi-Oh alternate storyline/spin-off/animated generic fanfic made by 4Kids is going to be worse than that then I'd be tempted to give it a miss. But you never know. I'll watch it anyway, simply because it is Yu-Gi-Oh, but whether it's any good or not will depend on the writers, and no-one can actually say how good or bad it will be until they've seen it. Writers who are writing for money will probably do a fairly bad job and will do whatever they can to get it past the final draft, but more often than not people do their jobs because they like what they do and put care and attention into it, and the better shows display that in their quality and popularity. I think it's an unfair generalisation to say that everyone else is too mercenary to make anything else good. I'm not denying that it could be bad. I just don't know yet.

Flip up the 2 Maiden of the Aquas in defense position, and the other 3 in attack position. Activate Umi and Tornado Wall.
You'd be better off just activating 'A Legendary Ocean' in place of Umi straight off- it cuts out the need for those six turns worth of Tributes, which is a long time in competetive duelling. You'd be hard pressed to keep everything on the field for that long, including your Field Magic Card. Judgement of Anubis would be useful to keep that in play. So, with ALO, you can place The Legendary Fisherman and/or your Warriors right onto the field without needing a Tribute for them. You could even do it all in one turn if you had Ultimate Offering to hand.

Anime OPs and EDs Everything you wanted to know
Solo Tremaine replied to r2vq's topic in Otaku Central
I really didn't like the Cowboy Bebop opening all that much when I saw it some time ago. But that was some time ago. Usually I'll watch OPs and EDs if the song is one I really like, or if the picture adds something more to the actual episode. The Gundam Wing Endless Waltz OVA EDs actually continued the story in the episodes a little; I liked that. The Toonami version didn't have the credits rolling over them in theirs, though- they edited them out and put their own one at the end, which made it slightly easier to see everything. Some OPs give hints as to what's to come later on- if a character's been bumped off and you see them for a frame or two in the OP in a pose you've never seen before then there's a chance you might see them again, heh. I analyse them fairly carefully when it gets to part way through the series to see if I've seen everything they show. That is, unless the OP is just artistic presentation that doesn't show clips from the main body. I always watch the Outlaw Star opening- I love its style, pace and the song. There's also the introduction just before that too, so it's hard to ignore it when there's part of the episode already been shown, heh. The OS ED (too many abbreviations o_o; ) isn't one I often watch, though. I don't really like the illustration of the girl. She reminds me too much of the old science fiction art books my dad has. They're usually fairly pretentious stuff. Good-looking, but pretentious. RahXephon's another one I'll watch the opening to but not the end. Hemisphere's a great song. I listen to far more themes than I watch, though. I have a Starchild Theme Collection CD, heh ^_^ The main thing I like about the OP/EDs are the songs anyway; if they're ones I like I'll put them into my CD player rather than watch the series to it. If nothing else, I can imagine the images. -
I wasn't just referring to you, Argolis. Besides, if you feel you've had a personal attack made against you, the best thing to do is simply to tell a Moderator. Creating a personal attack back is as much against the rules as the first. I thought you'd know this by now. Getting back to the topic at hand: having seen some Duel Masters Starter Decks for sale, I must admit that the monster designs I saw on the packs are quite nice, and a fair amount better than some of the early Yu-Gi-Oh card designs. Some cards in Legend of Blue Eyes, Metal Raiders and Magic Ruler really weren't that impressive to look at. The latest sets are much better. Pictures aren't enough for me to go out and buy DM; After having sent so long playing Yu-Gi-Oh I don't think I really want to start collecting another CCG. I just can't be bothered.

Heh, I'm sorry, but I have to close your first ever topic. 'Favourites' threads generally aren't allowed on OB because in the past they've tended to lead to fairly short posts and poor discussions, which isn't what we try and encourage here. The ones that are allowed have decent reasons and explanations behind them to allow further development other than just agreeing that so-and-so is cool. Anyway, as this is an anime lounge for many/all animes, having one for every single series would get very crowded. If you want to discuss Vandread, there's a thread about it here. Thread closed.

If you can't discuss this issue sensibly I will close this thread. It's stupid to get so riled up about what is just a card game. The main object of Yu-Gi-Oh, Duel Masters, Magic: The Gathering or whatever is to have fun. Regardless of what anyone might think of either, there's no reason for anyone to be dishing out personal attacks. Don't push it.

Alaris hesitated as Ben moved to stop him. "Someone has to," the pangolin said with a slight smile. Ben didn't return the gesture. "Alaris, there's something dangerous in these caves. If my Senser abilities are completely blocked, there's no telling what it could do to something without any psychic protection." "You think it'll make a difference whether I go alone or not? If it kills me, it kills me, but at least I'll have tried." Alaris gripped his sword tightly. He knew very little about the Senser abilities themselves, but knew they were a force to be reckoned with. He felt uncomfortable whenever Ben sent him a telepathic message- the thought of someone with the ability to kill him without being anywhere in sight frightened him. But he would never admit that. "If we back out of this battle there'll be nothing left to return to. The humans won't stop their counter-advance until they reach the Capital, and by that time it'll be too late to warn the Elders." Alaris knew full well that if human reinforcements were arriving at their stronghold, it owuldn't take them long for that force to push back and almost certainly kill any clones left standing at the front line. Rayea... Ben closed his eyes. "Just wait a second..."

Anime AnimeNEXT NY/NJ/CT June 18-20 website updated
Solo Tremaine replied to echocharlie's topic in Otaku Central
Threads specifically created for advertising other websites aren't allowed on OtakuBoards. I know AnimeNEXT is an event, but there isn't even any discussion here. This could just as easily have gone into a signature. Please put more effort into your posts, echocharlie. -
Wizards of the Coast want to try and gain their popularity back, it's as simple as that. The fact that in Yu-Gi-Oh, the card game is called Duel Monsters could almost be enough for a lawsuit. The game is definately not something I want to get into; I doubt the anime will be much different. Yu-Gi-Oh is as good as it is because it's not trying to be anything else and the storyline is original. Duel Masters to me sounds like BeyBlade with cards. But, that is an incredibly uninformed decision as I've never seen DM or its characters, nor heard anything about its plot. dposse, try and work on your post quality. Capital letters, thoughtful comments and paragraphing never hurt anyone, you know. It would make things a bit easier and more interesting to read.

"No-one knows how many years it's been. Not many people care. All they want is an end." "There is no question of if an ending will come. The only question is when, and how will you bear up to it?" * * * Drip. That dream again. Why did he keep having it? Drip. Grey clouds covered the sky, the orange sunlight of the morning barely visible behind its thick barrier of water vapour. Droplets of heavy rain cascaded onto the digital tree leaves; their loud but soothing noise echoing throughout the entire city. Drip. The creature's eyes flickered open. The water trickled down the concrete slope and dripped onto his face. He swooped a lazy claw over his muzzle and flicked the water away, rolling onto his side. "Damn water," he growled, pulling his makeshift blanket of old human clothes over his face. Another drip of water fell onto his exposed flank. He twitched, groaned and sat upright, being careful not to scrape his head on the low ceiling. Perhaps it was time to wake up after all. It was best not to stay in one place for too long anyway- more often than not something would be along to try and eat, kill or kidnap you. Shoving his things into the small khaki bag beside him, he trudged out of the building and rubbed his eyes, trying to rid himself of the tiredness that had been plaguing his body for days. Probably lack of decent food. His blue-scaled tail flicked idly in the dull light as he surveyed the landscape. This was one of the larger cities he'd come across. Although most of the taller skyscrapers had crumbled to the ground and a lot of roads had digital rocks or trees breaking through, it remained one of the few signs that humans actually existed on this planet. They still lived in some of the buildings, but they were becoming less and less common. He hadn't seen one for days. Mind you, he was a digimon. Humans didn't seem to understand that he didn't want to hurt them, they just tended to run away regardless, or try and kill him. Fladramon let out a long, loud and satisfying yawn. He gave a quick look around and headed down a street to his left, his bag slung over his shoulder. "If there's nothing else left in this world, there'd better at least be some food." he sighed. ------------------------------------------- Alright, guys! Post as you like, but take care with other people's characters when you include them in your posts. I'll start getting the story moving soon, but for the moment just introduce your characters. Yes, if you're looking for pictures, the most obvious answer would be to take a look at Google before asking in a thread here. If it's an ongoing quest, you could put a note in your signature rather than start a thread about it. This is spam. And please, don't post one-word replies, especially if that one word is an abbreviation. Both are discouraged on OtakuBoards. I suggest you read the Rules again. Thread closed.

If you want a piece of artwork made for your avatar, you should start a detailed thread in the 'Art by Request' forum. I would move this one, but as it is I doubt this would fit the bill even in there. Take a look at the Rules and FAQ if you're unsure of how things work. Thread closed.

Sign Up Digimon- Way of the Worlds [PG-13 for violent content]
Solo Tremaine replied to Solo Tremaine's topic in Theater
Okay, here we go. Sorry it's been so long, guys. I've been really busy with college and things- I have been keeping an eye on the sign-ups, though. Okay, first things first. I realise I should have said I was going to be selective when people signed up, but I am. I like RPGs to flow well, and preferably to finish. So where I can I like to take high-quality sign-ups and people I know are going to be able to see it through to the end (but bearing in mind how little I've been online recently I'm being rather hypocritical about it). Anyway, the sign-ups are as follows: K.K.C Lady Katana Jokopoko DDG Circéus Domon Blanko Ohkami DuoMax Wondershot Ben StrikeGundam Please don't take it personally if you didn't get in. Ten is a fairly high number for an RPG as it is, and I really don't usually like going above that. It's taken me ages to sort this out and I feel bad enough about it as it is... If you have any questions, PM me and I'll do my best to answer them. Right, as to other details: A note about digivices: The digivices everyone has are prototype to first version, so they are not always reliable. As such, they may choose the wrong digivolution target, fizzle out, explode, crash or open up portals to other places. As such, there is a chance the digivolution line may jump to something other than the intended line, (which is why I didn't mind people not sticking to the regular digivolution lines). Bearing in mind the state of the world, there is little way to determine where these portals go to, and once the digivice has passed through, they close. As another note- no card slashing, please. I know Tamers was a great series, but there've been no Digimon cards made, so they wouldn't work. I don't suppose anyone signed up with cards in mind, but I thought I'd give a heads-up anyway. Timeline: 2006: Development into warp technology began 2008: Gate into Digital World opened by a scientist named Gendo. The huge breakthrough in scientific discovery causes huge amounts of controversy and celebration. 2009: The first exploratory missions come back from the Digital World with tales of fantastic intelligent creatures. 2009: A diplomatic mission is sent to the Digital World in order to secure peace. January 2010: The two worlds set up an alliance, known as The United Worlds Pact. At the same time, digivice research begins and Digimon begin setting up their own portals into the next world. August 2010: Hunters are discovered trading Digimon body parts for medicine in China. Fury breaks out. January 2011: On the anniversary of the Pact, a Digimon goes berzerk in Times Square, New York, killing 20. The ruling Digimon declare it an isolated incident. July 2011: The first digivices are completed, thorugh joint colaboration between human scientists and a group of digimon. They begin work on a second version. Late 2011: Unrest grows where portal borders have been set up. Small firefights result in a few deaths on both sides. Both accuse each other of inciting violence. Mid 2012: An Ultimate-Level Digimon destroys an office block in Canada. Human armies designate Digimon specific zones they are allowed to visit, and shoot any which break those boundaries. The Digimon accuse the humans of trying to control them and begin to fight back. 2014: After years of cumulative violence, a shooting of a party of Koromon causes the digimon to break free of the Digital World and start rioting against 'human oppression'. The humans fight back by sending strike forces into the Digital World and attacking Digimon settlements. 2015: A single soldier returns to Earth after a reconnaissance mission, near death. He tells of a powerful device in the mountains of the Digital World. 2016: A strange explosion is heard in the depths of both worlds. Within minutes, everything has changed. Unknown: Mysterious portals begin opening. No-one knows where they lead, or what causes them. Natural phenomena (e.g. hurricanes, earthquakes) become more frequent and violent. Many believe the world is coming to an end. IMPORTANT: Starting places. You can start wherever in the world you like, but it would be a very long and odd RPG if we never met, so after the first few posts portals will begin to appear. Don't have them appear until I give the cue, otherwise you won't know where you're going ^_~ I have a plan, see... See you on Saturday ^_^ -
Really My parents don't care really I got my dad and older brother watching it.They sometime find stuff out before I do but thats rare
ss3-brolly, please work on your post quality- length and punctuation particularly. This is the third time you've been asked now. Anyway, my parents don't mind so long as it's not really extreme. But then again they always tell me it's my choice. It's not as if I force them to sit and watch it or anything. My mum loved Spirited Away, so she's happy to watch something if I can recommend it to her. My dad doesn't tend to like animation, though. Or films in general, for that matter. Either way, my parents tend to be fairly liberal with what I watch. I'm old enough to know not to copy what I see on the animes, and even if I did get something like Urotsukidoji it's not something I'd show off to my parents. And since I'm not into extreme animes anyway, there's little chance of that happening.

Writing OtakuBoards: Enter the Net [PG]
Solo Tremaine replied to Solo Tremaine's topic in Creative Works
I was just about to post in here when I had to make a last-minute edit, so now I am just about to post in here again ^_^; This chapter is the longest yet- 11 pages of wholesome Enter the Net goodness. Well, I trust it's goodness. I won't know until I have some feedback, heh. It's taken me all day to write and I locked myself in here to do it, so it'd better be at least half-decent. there are a few things I think I want to go over before putting up the final version, but I wanted to get it up here more. Anyway, here is Chapter 6. Enjoy ^_^ *pastes* Hmm, I hope the formatting's alright here. It's a bit odd at this end... Still, I guess we'll find out. Flame Wars Episode II: Return of the Thing BOOM! Huge segments of the forum walls disappeared in the explosion, shattering into tiny bits of HTML code that flew into the air like shrapnel. The l33t artillery operator gave a wicked cackle and pointed the barrel at another part of the boards, ready to completely destroy anything in its path. From out of nowhere, a large white-gloved fist with a Charles attached to it slammed into the side of his head, knocking him clean out of the building. "u suk!" the l33t cried, soaring into the distance. "Damn, I had no idea." Charles retorted to himself, searching out the next wave of destruction from the l33t. They?d already reduced most of the anime forums to near-rubble (with the exception of the Yu-Yu-Hakusho forum, which disappointed Shy most greatly). It was impossible to post in them anymore. A few threads were salvaged and sent straight away into the OtakuBoards Moderators forum, the only place the l33t weren?t able to find. Many of the members had taken refuge inside the Nintendo Forum, protected by Semjaza Azazel and Desbreko. They huddled closely together, either playing on GameCubes to pass the time or trying to work out how best to strike back. Almost needless to say, the tense atmosphere led to some very frustrated gamers. Never before had losing on Kirby?s Air Ride created such violent outbursts. Elsewhere, Radaghast held a controller out to his companion, who was wearing the appearance of Vampire Hunter D. "CRH, would you-" "It?s CrH." He replied, taking the controller. Radaghast looked confused. "That?s? what I said." "No, you said CRH." CrH smiled. "It?s pronounced CrH. There?s a difference." "Does it matter?" Radaghast shrugged, pressing the ?Start? button. "Not really." CrH counter-shrugged. "But it is my name." Dagger IX1 had been listening in, surprised that someone could actually pronounce ?CrH? in the first place when PiroMunkie burst through the door, his long black coat pebble-dashed with HTML code and spam. He dropped himself in the nearest chair and signalled for another Moderator to take his shift outside the door. Arcadia and Break both leapt through the doorway- even before it had time to close they could hear the sound of insane cackling and loud explosions. "Made it," he sighed, looking exasperatedly at his smouldering ModRod. "We really need a better way of dealing with those l33t guys. This won?t be enough." James appeared next to him through a back door that opened in the wall behind him- a direct link from Nintendo to the Moderators? forum. As soon as he did, everyone in the room turned to face him, all with similar questions in mind. He raised a pre-emptive silencing hand to stop them and addressed the mods nearest him. "I?ve put up a firewall around this forum- it should be safe from this H4XX0r for at least a short while longer." He said gravely. "Who is H4XX0r?" Karma of Chaos asked, trying to note down some lines of poetry. "From what we can gather he?s a hacker bot programmed to infect and destroy random websites. He must have come in with all of the n00bs." Semjaza answered, sifting through the GameCube shelves for anything left worth playing that everyone else wasn?t already using. "He?s gathered an army called The l33t and seems to be tearing apart everything he can." "What are we going to do in the meantime?" Desbreko asked, prying a Zelda-fangirl from his Kokiri Tunic. James smiled wryly. "I?ve called the other Moderators back for a while once they?ve seen off the bulk of H4XX0r?s troops. I?d prepared myself for exactly this situation some time ago." Desbreko looked at him blankly. "You were prepared for us to be sucked into the Boards by a freak accident, start a virtual community and deal with an army of spam-throwing hackers?" "Yes." "Oh." Piro mused over the situation. "So what do we do until they come back? H4XX0r could knock at the door at any moment." Just then, there was a knock at the door. Despite the danger that the obvious cliché put him in, James went to open it. Much to his (and everyone else?s) relief, it was not H4XX0r but Lady Katana and Solo Tremaine, who piled in carrying a few members who were caught in the crossfire. Lady Asphyxia protectively clutched the lead pipe she?d been whirling over her head to try and scare off the spammers. It had worked to an extent, but they were more afraid of her superior post quality than anything else. OtakuBot removed a piece of debris from his cartridge slot and did his best to ignore Shy, who had rescued him from certain deletion by a large SuperSayain trying to insert him into a Nintendo 64. One by one the remaining Moderators entered the forum and gathered anxiously around James. It wasn?t a pretty sight. The scars of battle were plentiful, and a lot looked expensive. Asuka?s Ruffly Dress was torn, covered in dirt and partially singed; Charles? Viewtiful Joe helmet had been dented in various places and Ken?s hair had been altered beyond recognition. "So," Arcadia hummed. "What?s the plan?" * * * Deep in the dark, dank depths of the Yu-Yu Hakusho forum several figures stood around a badly-constructed table which wobbled whenever someone lent on it. At the head of the wooden oblong stood a figure with sunglasses- an Agent Smith, his mechanical appearance less-than-hiding a mechanical interior- H4XX0r. He gave a wry smile as his subordinates ran around in disorganised circles attempting to work out a battle plan. "mods iz 2 stricts. They?re modrods r stopin us from getting in." H4XX0r?s wry smile changed to a look of mild confusion as he tried to rearrange the syntax of the previous sentence into some kind of working order. He?d been hoping for some slightly more intelligent followers. "wh3r3 4r3 th3 m0d5?" he asked, clicking a mouse button repeatedly and cycling through windows showing all of the forums and corridors. "Dyu fink theyve? gon into hiding?" "th3y 4r3n?7 5tup1d. th3y sh0uld b3 0rg4n1s1ng 4 c0un73r-str1k3." "I OWNZZ @ COUNTER-STIKE!" a l33t trooper yelled, waving his arms around like a windmill on caffeine. H4XX0r grimaced. "3n0ugh! g3t 1n70 ur 4nt1-m0d 500tz." He yelled, his booming voice shaking the forum so violently that the icons fell out of place. "1t?5 t1m3 4 th3 n00 0rd3r 2 b3 4ppl13d?" * * * "So, how do you prepare for this kind of situation, James?" everyone asked at almost exactly the same time in various different ways. Adam and jblessing conveniently appeared next to James from out of nowhere, both of them grinning widely and covered in what looked like engine grease. "Follow me." Adam said coyly, beckoning to the Moderators. He led them over to a strategically-placed poster of Mr Game and Watch, although they didn?t realise it was strategically-placed until the secret door behind it opened up and they walked through. The corridor was incredibly dark- it was near impossible for anyone to see anything ahead, save for the vague shadow of whoever it was in front of them they were trying not to step on or bump into. "Sorry about the darkness." Adam sighed. "I had to cover this place in spoiler tags so no-one would be able to see it. Now if I remember correctly, there should be a set of stairs somewhere ar-" His sentence was cut short by a startled scream and series of loud bumps. "Adam, you alright?" James called. "Yes, everything?s fine." A voice called back from down below. "I found the stairs." Very slowly, the rest of them began to feel their way down, grasping for walls/banisters/people to steady their descent. Suddenly, a huge explosion rocked the building. The Moderators went crashing down to the floor in a tumult of yelling, screaming and words that were thankfully caught by the censor system. "Break, get your foot out of my ear!" Rico groaned. "That?s not my foot." Break muttered. "It?s Shinmaru?s." "My foot is in my own ear." "Which part of who is this?" Terra mumbled, a mouthful of fur. "That?s my tail," Solo said protectively, trying to grab it back. Justin shuffled uncomfortably "Des, I hope that?s your finger?" "Somebody open the door!" Swish. The door slid open and everyone spilled into the next room. As they righted themselves and checked their various body parts, an awesome sight greeted them. Adam and jblessing stood proudly in front of their new inventions. Gigantic, customisable mech suits lined the walls, their metal armour gleaming brilliantly in the fluorescent light. Adam spread his arms wide triumphantly. "I give you? the ModZords!" "Do they work?" Sara asked innocently. Adam stage-collapsed in true anime style. "Yes, they do. And I?m sure they?ll be enough to stop H4XX0r." Desbreko ran his hand over the shiny leg of one of the machines. "So, how do they work?" Adam rubbed his hands together. "First, you have to get into the specially-designed Moderator Suits so that your impulses are amplified enough to make the ModZords work. Then you sit inside and slot your ModRod into the control panel. Customise it to however you want and you?re away." Ken raised an eyebrow. "Moderator Suits?" jblessing opened a wardrobe to one side of the room. Inside were hundreds of different-coloured lycra suits with matching gloves and helmets, all adorned with Power Ranger-esque go-faster stripes. Chaos shook his head. "No. Way." Another huge explosion rocked the building. "We haven?t got time to argue!" James shouted. "We need to get into the suits and get rod of the l33t as quickly as possible." Adam grimaced. "The ModZords need at least half an hour to fully upload their data. The Moderator Suits should amplify your abilities enough to take them on in hand-to-hand combat." * * * A line of l33t gunners stood in front of the reception, aiming massively disproportionate cannons at the PM boxes. Behind them stood a l33t officer, which a badge that labelled him "3xtr3m3 l33t" on his shoulder. "CTRL?" The gunners raised their cannons onto their shoulders. "ALT?" The gunners took aim. "DELETE!" The barrage of projectiles completely obliterated the reception desk- HTML flew high into the air and the resulting shockwave shattered the stained-glass window above them, showering them in glass. The only thing left of the reception was a picture of a Super Famicom labelled ?Mom?, one of OtakuBot?s photographs. "RIGHT MEN! WE SHALL PROCEED TO THE OTAKU LOUNGE NEXT WHOS WITH ME?" the officer yelled at the top of his voice, which wasn?t much higher than the rest of him. The l33t soldiers replied in triplicate spam and turned to face their next destination. A pink lycra-clad Moderator stood in their way, holding a Plushie Wand. "You?re going to pay for what you did to my Ruffly Dress." Queen Asuka growled, moving into an aggressive stance. "SOLDIERS- MANAGE HER ACCOUNT!" The officer roared. Immediately the soldiers threw their guns to the floor and produced short knives from their belts, which they brandished with great relish towards Asuka. She leapt into the air, whirled over their heads and landed behind them, spinning instantly and kicking three of them over. The others advanced cautiously as she whirled the PlushieWand in her hands, awaiting their next strike. Behind her, the officer began to advance, holding a massive broadsword. Two more moderators appeared from round the corner ahead- one teal and one black and crimson. They started running towards her. "Asuka, behind you!" Syk3 yelled, his teal lycra suit generating huge amounts of static electricity with each movement. Asuka dived forwards between two of the l33t troopers and rolled away, just in time to miss being cloven in two by the sword?s blade. "Let?s take these guys down!" Ken roared. His head bobbed madly up and down whenever he spoke. He found it incredibly frustrating. Elsewhere, the new Moderator Suits were proving their worth very well. Sara was thrashing l33t armies by bombarding them with punctuation. She used a strikethrough tag whip to disable l33t soldiers and with the added abilities of her suit she became even more proficient in using it. Desbreko?s nad-kicking abilities had escalated to devastatingly dangerous levels. Seeing the hugely destructive after-effects it had on l33t soldiers, it even scared those on his side. Solo hoped they weren?t planning on having any children. Arcadia brought with her an accomplice- Mimmi dressed in stealth gear. While the Adventure mod distracted them, Mimmi pilfered their pants and ran off, leaving them highly exposed. With Desbreko running around, it wouldn?t take long for them to be in serious trouble. They retreated almost instantly, trying not to trip over their boxers. Shinmaru, donning a red and black suit (not at all similar to DeathKnight?s suit of black and crimson), noticed with a very large amount of satisfaction that the troops all seemed to be retreating. * * * "wh@? h0w d1d th15 h4pp3n?" H4XX0r slammed his fist down on the table, infuriated at the miserable sight of his l33t army cowering in the Yu-Yu-Hakusho forum. "ITS NOT OUR FAULT SIR THEY HAVE NEW MODSUITS THAT-" The officer didn?t get to finish his sentence. "1d10t!" H4XX0r screamed. "n3v3r 53nd 4 hum4n t0 d0 4 m4ch1n3'5 j0b" With a deft plunging of his hand into the officer?s chest, H4XX0r absorbed his account and merged it with his. He became slightly taller- his post count had increased. Suddenly, he knew what he had to do. "my l0y4l 50ld13r5, g4th3r r0und..." * * * "Do you think they?ve gone?" Lady Katana asked, trying to stop her head from moving about as much as possible while she spoke. James shrugged melodramatically. "I don?t know. I think we should check out the Yu-Yu-Hakusho forum and see." "Right!" everyone chorused. Before they even had a chance to sprint over to the forum, a low rumbling noise reverberated throughout the building. The glass windows shattered, and the concrete struts overhead began to break. * * * The members in the Nintendo forum escaped through the main door as quickly as possible, not wanting to still be inside when (as it looked it might) the whole site came crashing down. Lady Asphyxia, Red and Dagger IX1, on the other hand, noticed a door behind the Mr Game and Watch poster had been left slightly ajar? * * * The leviathan Agent Smith towered over the Boards like a very smart Godzilla, his evil smirk and soulless sunglasses looming over the members who had scattered onto the beach. Even the 300 Foot Potato was dwarfed in comparison. "His post count is phenomenal!" Terra shrieked. "He?s completely obliterated the special titles!" "We need those ModZords, Adam!" James clenched his fists anxiously. He seriously doubted the lycra would be 600-foot-tall-Agent-Smith proof. Adam jabbed a few buttons on his pop-up computer screen and a hole opened up in the ground outside- twenty-four ModZords obediently flew into the air and landed gingerly on the beach. H4XX0r smiled wryly as he watched the Mods climb into their mechanical suits and customise their appearance. Adam adjusted some of his display settings before opening a Chat window. "Be careful guys- if your ModZord gets hit while you?re inside, you could lose all of your Moderator abilities." "Oh, great." The Harlequin muttered. The battalion of mechas took to the sky and began swarming around H4XX0r, pounding at him with deletion lasers, ban missiles- nothing seemed to be hurting him at all. "f00l5!" H4XX0r roared, swatting Jinzouningen17 and Digital Monster out of the sky. Their ModZords slammed into the ground below and disappeared, leaving them lying on the ground devoid of Mod power. "1?m m4d3 0f th0u54nds 0f 4cc0un75! y0u c4nn0t h4rm m3!" DeathKnight swooped his mech up H4XX0r?s stomach, firing bullets through the shirt material. One of his shots severed the cord holding a shirt button, sending the colossal piece of ivory hurtling towards the ground. He looped in the air and tried to get out of the way, but was too slow. The button sliced through one of his ModZord?s engines- he went spiralling out of control and collided with Mitch. The two of them thundered into the sea. Mitch rubbed the salt water out of his eyes and pulled himself onto the beach. "Banal piss," he scowled. James watched everything from the cockpit of his ModZord, flying over hXX0r?s colossal head while trying to dislodge his sunglasses. "We have to combine the ModZords into a bigger machine- we're too small like this." James urged anxiously, seeing Ricotranzrig's ModZord smack into the OtakuBoards building. Transtic, Chaos and Break's simultaneously encountered a serious internal error and plummeted to the ground, abandoning their occupants. The remaining Zords hovered around James, watching H4XX0r squish the boards like Mario to a Goomba. "We?re down to sixteen Moderators. Will it be enough?" Solo asked. Adam looked doubtful. "I don?t know. We?ll have to-" Three more ModZords appeared next to them. Lady Asphyxia, Red and Dagger IX1 entered the Chat window, beaming happily. "We?re ready to help." They chorused. H4XX0r punched down the mountain landscape behind the Boards and began ripping down the background imaging. The sky turned black, HTML code streaming from tears in the screen above them. "We don?t have any time to waste. Either it works or it doesn?t, but this is our last chance." Syk3 fired a volley of lasers into H4XX0r?s back in frustration, but the colossal suit-clad machine took ho notice of him. "Alright," Adam took a deep breath. "This is how it works." he explained, hurriedly typing HTML code into his computer. "We all have to type the password in at exactly the same time for us to turn into MegaOtakuBoardZord. I?m sending it to you now." H4XX0r brought his fist crashing down onto the Zelda forum, completely annihilating it. "Everyone ready?" "It?s personal now!" Desbreko roared. "Let?s do it!" "OtakuBoards Anti-Spam Moderator Force!" The ModZords began to glow. With James, Charles and Adam?s Zords in the centre, the others all began swirling around it, creating the form of a gigantic Evangelion-like robot. On its head was a large red Mario cap. Its eyes flashed open- sitting inside at a very long control panel were the reformed team of Moderators. They grabbed a joystick each and the robot began advancing on H4XX0r. Down below, the members cheered with excitement. H4XX0r turned his head. Behind him, he saw the MegaOtakuBoardZord. "v3ry 1nt3r35t1ng, Mr Adm1n15tr4t0r. Bu7 5t1ll n0t 3n0ugh" He drew back his gigantic fist and hurled it forwards against the MegaOtakuBoardZord?s chest. Everyone inside the Zord reeled back with the shock at exactly the same time. The robot stumbled back, re-righted its footing and took hold of H4XX0r?s arm. "We?re going to kick the C++ out of you, H4XX0r!" Charles shouted, raising his gloved fist into the air. With a gigantic swing, the MegaOtakuBoardZord hurled H4XX0r over its head and slammed him into the ground. Several accounts separated from the virus? body, dissolving into the atmosphere. Drops of HTML began to fall from the sky like glowing rain. H4XX0r picked himself up and wiped his mouth, from which HTML code was dribbling. He flattened his hand and, fingers first, drove it straight into the OtakuZord?s shoulder. Data spurted from the opening. Bits of H4XX0r?s body started transforming itself into metal. His twisted grin widened. "4ll j00r p0w3r5 r 83l0ng t0 m3!" The Moderators inside could feel themselves being drained away, and began lolling about melodramatically. James looked over to Adam, who had fallen out of his chair and was trying in vain to pull himself out of a very awkward position underneath the control panel. "Hey!" Came a voice through the Instant Message service. Shy looked at the window. It was OtakuBot. "Adam, do you want me to press this button you gave me in case of an emergency?" the mascot asked, pointing at a button attached to his side. "Yes!" "Okey-dokey!" He leapt into the air. As he flew up towards the MegaOtakuBoardZord, he jabbed the button and began to change shape. From his usual small Famicom disk shape, his body began to lengthen and his arms joined together in the shape of a trigger. His legs grew and melted together to form a gigantic rifle butt- the rest of him formed a gleaming white gun barrel which placed itself in the Zord?s free hand. Without any more hesitation than it took to pull Adam out from underneath the desk, they pointed the Otaku Blaster at H4XX0r?s chest. "Account Terminated." The Moderators yelled in synchrony. A huge golden blast of energy exploded from the barrel, obliterating everything in its path. H4XX0r?s body disintegrated with a final, twisted scream. The robot would have stood triumphantly over the battle ground, had the battleground not been the site that it had worked so hard to protect. There was almost nothing left now, save for the Yu-Yu-Hakusho forum, and Shy took control of the robot for a brief moment to stomp it firmly into the ground. "Well?" James sighed. "I guess it was about time I got round to working on v7 anyway?" * * * "Ew, It?s wet." "It?s a splash page. Of course it?s wet." "Is it opening today?" "I hope so." The members all gathered closely around the large white box that had covered the OtakuBoards island since its near total destruction by the battle. It had been almost a week since the Boards went down, and the members who were left were tearing their hair out trying to think of things to do. After all, there are only so many times you can play I-Spy in a completely white world with a few hundred sleeping bags strewn around the landscape. Suddenly, the box moved. A door appeared in its surface and James, jblessing and Adam stepped through, looking more tired and worn-out than ever. Immediately, a barrage of questions almost forced them back inside. They raised their hands and gradually brought silence to the excitable mob in front of them. "It?s been a long while coming, but OtakuBoards v7 is finally. Come inside." Yells of enthusiasm, screeches of joy and murmured sighs of "Oh, thank God" echoed throughout the site. The white walls surrounding the boards disappeared, the beach, sea and sky returned, bluer and more stunning than it was before. The members began filing into the main doors to resume their posting, barely able to contain their excitement. Rather than following the main crowd of members, James gave a tired smile, walked straight to his bedroom and went to sleep. -
ss3-brolly, your post quality needs serious improvement. I can hardly see any punctuation in that. Just some full stops and capital letters would make it so much easier to read. I advise you take a look at the Rules before poting too much more. It seems to me that you must have never watched Yu-Gi-Oh in great detail if you think the only choices they have to make are about cards. There's far more depth to it than that. Sure, they duel in almost every episode and it does get very repetitive, but there's the ongoing plot points such as Yugi's mysterious past and the small matter of the fate of the world. The drama behind these is somewhat lost in the dub, as a heck of a lot is edited out to make it more suitable for children. If it were completely unedited and the dialogue was made less sanitary/boring it would be more exciting. Anyway, I think I'll close this thread. I honestly can't see it adding to much intelligent discussion in the forum. There's a whole forum devoted to Yu-Gi-Oh in the Anime Archives. If you want to start a specific Yu-Gi-Oh thread in here then please do so, but please put more effort into it.
