Ooh, it's this thread again. There are at least three topics with the same subject in the AL archives, and I didn't even run a very comprehensive search. I must say, though- you do need to work on your post quality, NeoNabishen. It's not... horribly bad in and of itself, it's just not very good. Try and flesh things out- add more detail and take greater care with your spelling. It makes things easier and more interesting to read. Anyway- I usually prefer to listen to the English voices- I'll do that at least once, even if the voices are rather bad. Thankfully most of the ones I watch are rather good, at least bearable. All of the ADV series I've seen so far have been satisfactory; it's mostly the older ones which are less easy to listen to in English. MADOX-01 and Winds of Amnesia are two which I wasn't very impressed with. As much as I like Cardcaptors, the more I hear about the dub the more I want to see the Japanese version because so much of it is cut out. I don't mind having the audio in Japanese if it means I get a better plot and/or nicer sounding voices, but it's up to the dubbing company as to how much they edit and change as to whether the translation's good enough. So it entirely depends on the company and the programme itself, as far as I'm concerned.

Welcome to the Boards, Cloud Strife. There is actually an animated Final Fantasy series, called Final Fantasy Unlimited. As I gather there's not a huge amount of relevance to the games, but if it interests you then I'd recommend checking it out. I've not seen it, so I've no idea whether it stands up to the reputation of the games or not. EDIT: Well, Semjaza got there first ^_^; Listen to him, he's smart. Anyway, you can discuss it here. Remember- if you want to start a thread about an anime, run a search of the forum first to check if there's one already been made. Try to keep your posts longer and more coherent in future as well, please. Be sure to read the Rules, and if you have any questions read the FAQ or ask a Moderator of your choice. Inuyasha7271, please break up your paragraphs into a more structured order. Full stops and commas are a very essential part of text, and without them it's incredibly difficult to follow what you're saying. Please put more effort into your posts in future. But anyway- with regards to Skull Archfiend of Lightning it depends on whether you want the effect or just want to keep Summoned Skull for a more direct Beatdown approach. Dark Sage isn't out in the English CCG yet, but even if it was I would only recommend having him in a solely Dark Magician Deck, without anything like Summoned Skull to get in the way- Dark Sage is a risk to try and get out. Dark Magician Girl is in Magician's Force, as is Apprentice Magician. Dark Magician of Chaos is in Invasion of Chaos. Deck ratings should be left to the Rate My Deck thread. If it needs rating, it'll be rated in there- requests asking people to look at it should go in your signature.

No, you would have to attack Injection-Fairy Lily because her effect resolves during the Damage Step. Drillago's effect would come into play when you declare the actual attack, before IFL's ATK change takes place. Hence, her ATK would be less than 1600 when you attack and Drillago would not be able to attack your opponent's LP directly.

Sign Up Digimon- Way of the Worlds [PG-13 for violent content]
Solo Tremaine posted a topic in Theater
The desolate cityscape spanned for miles, buildings crumbling, vehicles deserted, vines reaching their way up to the top floors of the skyscrapers. To think this was once the height of technology in this place. I stepped over a slab of concrete debris, the bones of a few unfortunate enough to have fallen underneath it poking through cracks, green with decay. A low humming noise distracted me- I turned my head to see a small, pathetic-looking creature dressed in rags staggering towards me. Judging by his meagre size, he didn't look like he'd eaten for days. I threw him a piece of bread from my small satchel- he leapt upon it with hungry cries, tearing into it with teeth and claws. "Humans..." I spat pitifully, before continuing on my way... * * * Long ago there existed two worlds- Earth, where billions of humans lived and thrived; and the Digital World, home of the Digimon- a race of thousands of fantastical creatures with special powers. For a time the two worlds remained separate, both growing and evolving in their own way. That was, until one day, when the human technological advances were so great that they created a device that ripped a hole in the fabric of time, allowing them to enter the Digital World. The Digimon, at the same time, discovered an ancient and powerful relic that enabled them to evolve into more powerful beings. For a while the humans and Digimon seemed to work well together in an effort to understand more about the Universe and solve each other's problems. When the Digimon and humans first met, they created devices that helped the digimon to force a more powerful evolution to the next level for a short period of time to- these were known as Digivices, but the factory that created them was destroyed and they were scattered about the land. Neither race can use them on their own- only with a human and a Digimon are they able to work. Unfortunately, the friendship didn't last. Some humans were terrified of the fact that another world actually existed, and saw the Digimon as being creatures from Hell, shunning, insulting and attacking any that happened to come by. The more powerful Digimon saw the humans merely as parasites overcorwding worlds until they had to move to the next one- theirs. A war of paranoia begun between the two worlds, and each used their most devaststing weaponary to try and eliminate the other... The year is unknown. The borders between the two worlds have disappeared. The world is becoming more unstable with each day. In a desperate attempt to stop the planet from falling apart, a group of heroes is trying to find the artifacts that caused the cataclysmic merging of the two worlds in the hope that they can reverse its effects before either one of the races decide to use them and destroy everything... * * * You can sign up as a Digimon, human or one of each if you want to. No Hybrids. At all. This is what I need from you: Human Sign-Up Name: Age: Gender: Equipment: You wouldn't survive in this world without them, so you'll need at least something to protect yourself with. Weapons, vehicles, anything you want. Digimon Partner: Digivice: Colour, appearance, type etc. The Digivices are quite a lot bigger than those on the show. Appearance: (picture or accurate, detailed description will do) Biography: What your character's like, what happened to him/her etc Additional Info: Anything else you can think of, really. Humans can be military, civilian, feral, partnered- pretty much anything you want. Bearing in mind the state of the world, I don't mind there being some weapon-proficient people. So long as there's no godmodding. Digimon Sign-Up Name: Species: Level: (No higher than Ultimate) Attacks: (Up to three) Digivolutions: Don't feel you have to stick to standard digivolution lines, but make them sensible- Gabumon wouldn't digivolve to WarGreymon. The only way of getting a Digimon without a partner or digivice to digivolve is through destroying and absorbing the data from a digimon whose power level is higher than itself, or through finding cave runes related to the Relic. Appearance: Bio: The Digimon sign-up's pretty self-explanatory. Fic Digimon are allowed, providing you can describe them well ehough, heh. Only one type of Digimon per sign up- i.e. only one Renamon, one Flamedramon etc. That includes those with partners. My Sign-Up:- Name: Fladramon Species: Flamedramon Level: Champion/Armour Attacks: Fire Rocket, Flame Shield, Burning Spear Digivolutions: Baby: Chibomon In-Training: DemiVeemon Rookie: Veemon Champion: Flamedramon Ultimate: WingFlamedramon Mega: Razemon Appearance: Flamedramon Bio: Flamedramon was born just before the two worlds collided with each other. He has a vivid memory of seeing the two worlds join together- he lost most of his friends in the resulting explosions and reformatting. He carries around with him a small human ricksack which he is incredibly protective over- inside he carries food and various items that his friend gave to him. His friend was a human- Tristan Lance. He and Fladramon were partners. Their friendship was strong until the two came across a human town virtually untouched by the wave of Digimon destruction. Tristan demanded that the two stayed there and help protect it, but Fladramon refused, insistant that it would be destroyed before too long anyway- the people should escape while they had the chance. After a fierce argument, Tristan got his way and the two stayed. It didn't take long for violence to erupt, though- Fladramon was constantly abused by the people in the town and one day, when approached by a young boy who started kicking him, he lashed out with his fist. Tristan stood in the way, and Fladramon's claws punctured his chest. Tristan fell to the ground gasping for life, and the rest of the townspeople chased Fladramon away. A few days later he heard that the people moved into the cave and too Tristan with them. The only thing he has left of his partner is the bag in which he carried an Atlas, a digivice, a compass and a long piece of rope. He never lets anyone else touch it. He is generally antisocial to anyone new he meets, but may warm to them given time. Although he is not quick to make friends he knows good from evil, which is why when he heard the Relic was still active, he set out to find it... If you have any questions, PM me. Enjoy! -
This to me seems more of a gaming question than an anime question, so I moved the thread to the Play It! Forum. Mind you, the question itself is quite vague, so without further clarification it could go in either. I hope nobody minds.

Welcome to OtakuBoards, Miyu ^_^ Unfortunately, introductory threads aren't allowed on OB- they tend to lead to spam and suchforth. If you're having problems with anything, there's an FAQ on the side menu, along with the Rules, which everyone must read and abide by or else, heh. For posting in the Anime Lounge, read the Sticky Thread at the top for James' explanation. That's about it, I think. If you have any problems, feel free to PM me or any other OB Moderator. Have fun!
Ya,I only have one VHS and one DVD. I wish I had more. :(
That's as well as may be, but please put more detail into your posts. Which bits do you want to see, for example? How much have you seen already. Please try and work on your spelling and grammar as well. Your post previous to this one was quite hard to make out, despite having more substance than the rest.
-
got_Goku15, please put more effort into your posts- the grammar and spelling needs work, it lacks substance and there are too many smilies relative to the amount of text you have there. I suggest you check the Rules section. As for the comedy moments being few and far between- it generally has more subtle humour in it than that of Evangelion, which needed some quite blatant humour to help balance the really heavy psychological traumas that were going on throughout the series. BGC:T2040 I thought was a generally very light-hearted series, although the humour tended to disappear after the later set of episodes it was still there. But I was too wrapped up in the action to really worry about the quips being made, heh.
Just to make this clear, I've seen other topics concerning plagiarism on here. So, when I saw someone on this board copy some work of someone on my board, I naturally got pissed off. The person on my board who's work was copied off of tried to PM the guy who copied him on here, *cough* Domon *cough*, only to find his account to be deleted. He tried to PM James, guess what happens? Account deletion. His previous user names were: Archmage, AG's Rebirth, and Sanosuke somtin...but anyway, Domon copied card names and effects for his fanfic: http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?t=37464 Somebody better address this problem, instead of sweeping this topic under the rug like when my friend brought this to Domon's topic himself, only to have his post deleted by a staff member, possibly Solo. BTW, if I see this deleted instead of at least closed, I'll know something is corrupt with yo staff. --;
Before you start accusing me of being corrupt, I can't delete posts in the Adventure Arena. I'm an Anime Lounge Mod. Sanosuke (then known as Altron Gundam) had agreed to let Domon use the Fantasy Duelling League cards in a previous RPG of the same name which failed to finish peoperly- see here for details. I can vouch for that because I helped Domon create the RPG. Domon was resurrecting the same adventure thread with the assumption that he was still able to use the cards that Altron had described to him. As Altron was no longer here to ask because of his ban, there was no way to confirm that this was true. That is my interpretation of the story. They weren't copied from the yugiohdungeon site as Altron gave full permission to have them used.
Query:[/b'] What if Dark Cat with White Tail is the only Monster on your side of the Field and it is attacked? Do you have to have another monster in order for the effect to work, or would it work just as well in the situation I just described?
If that's the only card you have on the field, my guess would be that it's returned to your hand. It's the same as Man-Eater Bug's ruling- if there's no other monster on the field, it destroys itself. I could be wrong, of course.
Card(s): The Wicked Worm Beast & Spirits Query: Does the returning to hand effect work even though the card is in the Graveyard? Or does the monster's destruction render it null and void?
If they're destroyed, they're destroyed and don't go back to your hand.
Card(s): Malevolent Nuzzler/Horn of Light Query: Can the cost effect of these cards be activated at any time while they exist in the Graveyard, or only in the instant that they are sent from the field to the Graveyard?
This has happened to me a few times when I've dueled someone- they announced they wanted to put Malevolent Nuzzler back on the top of their Deck when it was destryed pretty much at the beginning of the Duel. It just doesn't seem fair to be able to do it whenever you want to. You have to announce and pay the Life Point cost when the card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard.
Card(s):Ritual Monsters Query: If you are getting the required Tribute Stars for the summon from your hand, does it count as discarding, Tributing, or both?
Tributing, because both the Ritual Spell and Monster cards say 'offer as a Tribute', rather than 'discard'. Even if they're from your hand, they're still a Tribute because it is a monster being sacrificed to summon a more powerful one. Discard applies to any type card unless the effect states- it's not usually specific. After all, you can't Tribute Spells :p.

If you want to add a poll to the thread, you need to do so when you create it. But this doesn't merit decent enough discussion to bother having up anyway, so it matters not. I understand that you're new, but I urge you to take a look at the Rules before posting again to get an idea of what's required. Posts this short, incoherent and gramattically unstable are considered spam on OtakuBoards. Please put more effort into future posts. Thread closed.
:flaming: Sailor is pure beauty
King Vicious 2, please put more efforts into your posts. You haven't even specified which Sailor is 'pure beauty', and that isn't the point of the thread in the first place- it's for discussing Sailor Moon as a whole rather than a favourite character alone. Your post was deleted because it was so short and there was no decent discussion in it. The Rules are waiting for you. I never thought I'd be posting in a Sailor Moon thread...

Anime Old threads that shouldn't have been revived.
melfina and gene off outlaw star :wigout: :wigout:
Alex, I understand that you're new but please put more effort into your posts. This standard is nowhere near acceptable at OtakuBoards. Read the Rules before you post again. I don't want to have to warn you a third time. -
Both of you need to work on your post quality. alex, posts like that are definately not acceptable at OtakuBoards- they should be longer, more detailed and more to the point interesting to read. The same goes for you, HeadShotOmega. I suggest you both take a good look at the Rules before you start serious posting. Anyway, if you want to post about a series in the Anime Lounge, run a search for threads already existing about that series. If one comes up, post in that; if not, start a new one. If you're unsure of how this works, the Sticky Thread at the top of the page should explain everything to you fully. Thread closed.

I'm going to close this thread for various reasons; fool Cool This, your post quality needs work. Fewer abbreviations and more detail, please. Try and put more effort into future attempts. Most of the more interesting/popular/complicated series are the ones which have the most discussion about them in the Anime Lounge already- you only need to look around for the long debate-filled threads to find out which spark off the most controversy (of which Evangelion surely takes the biscuit anyway) and needs the most explanation and interpretation to fully understand it (probably Evangelion again). But in your post you haven't even asked people to say why they were confusing. If someone were to make this thread again and give a decent and worthwhile first post, I'd leave it open. Unfortunately, this doesn't give me any perogative to keep.

Things you don't want will probably go the way of all things that aren't wanted- to other places. If you wanted to make money, sell them. If not, just put them in jumble sales. It's really as simple as that. As such, I doubt there's much discussion that can come from this. A thread asking about how much anime merchandise you buy and own and why you like it would have been fine, but as this isn't one of those I'm going to close it. Think carefully before starting threads.

Wow, I didn't mean to cause that much trouble ^_^; But if it's intelligent discussion there's no problem I guess. Anyway, I saw the second half of my first Big O episode today- the first half was over-run by Smallville >.> My first thought when I switched over was 'Outlaw Star', not in its plot so much (although there is an android girl in it; I'm not going to make any assumptions about it yet) but the look, voices and music. They're all done by the same people though, so it's hardly surprising. Unfortunately because I tuned in late I wasn't able to understand much of what was going on, but I was impressed nonetheless. It's unusual to see anime eyes without any colour, it threw me for a while. It's much more stylised than any other anime I've seen thus far, with the exeption of The Animatrix. Good stuff, though. I'll be able to discuss more once I've actually seen a bit more. I love the ending theme, though ^_^
Some history on the word Irregardless: It's an American word, go figure. Used in casual writing and non-standard speech, meaning it's not a "formal" word. It IS a word, just it's more of a slang word. Technically it is a blend of the words irrespective and regardless.
Like 'thunk', as in "I thunk as much." I groan whenever I hear it on programmes I watch- I'm a bit of a grammar freak like that. "Thought" is the 'proper' term, by my standards. When it comes to overused words, 'procrastination' is one I've heard a heck of a lot recently. It's not got to the point that it annoys me; a lot of people dither about doing things (myself included), so I guess it's more a word that's come to light as everyone realises the name for what they're doing. It's not a bad thing as such, just something that caught my eye. Maybe there's a procrastination wave washing over everyone. Someone I know uses 'literally' in almost every other sentance. I never say anything about it, but it's getting more tempting to make a joke every time I hear it. I just can't understand why it's there. It's probably a verbal nervous twitch or something *shrugs* Like when people say 'like', like, every other, like, word? I have the urge to shoot people who do that too much.
-
Wow, I was just going to talk about this in MyOtaku. How convenient ^_^ I know what you mean- I tend to notice these effects quite strongly when with other people. Usually I get a better judge of what people are like when they're on their own- having groups of around usually makes them either act up or play down to a greater extreme than they would normally. It frustrates me that I see myself doing it too, because I know I'm not really like how I stupidly act around large groups of people. Mind you, depending on my mood I can just become completely silent, so it works both ways. Either way it frustrates me. There's not much I can do about it- most people aren't consciously aware of the changes that happen so complaining about it wouldn't get me anywhere. My sister becomes really silly when her friends come round, and I tend to get along more easily with her when she's being sensible, but I wouldn't say anything because it's not her fault and she's probably not aware of it anyway. As for me- online I always strive to be as much myself as I am offline, although I feel more confident about things online than off what with various psychological barriers not getting in the way. I'm more inclined to make jokes online because there are fewer social inhibitions and I can often have more personal chats with people I don't know so well for the same reason.

No, it would just come back with its original 1700 ATK (Double of which is actually 3400). Limiter Removal's destroyed after that turn and its effect only lasts as long as it's on the field. If it were equipped with Megamorph then it'd come back with 3400 ATK because the card's still active.
-
There isn't a huge amount of need to use his effect more than once anyway- if you destroy all of you or your opponent's monsters on the field as an affect of the roll, then there's nothing left to destroy anyway. And if you destroy one, the chances are it'll be one with a higher ATK or DEF than Zorc's ATK Points anyway, so you can go ahead and attack as you would normally.

RPG Yu-Gi-Oh! Battle Island [PG 13+ mild cursing, violence, and dark persona]
Solo Tremaine replied to Domon's topic in Theater
"Smells like duelling." Aidian mused, slotting his newly-refined Deck into his Duel Disk system. The beach was buzzing with activity. Holographic monsters appeared everywhere, all facing hordes of other monsters with menacing looks, behind them were anxious-looking duelists keeping close eyes on their Life Points as if they were about to jump into the sea at any minute. And with Duel Monsters, you never knew what kind of virtual reality graphics Kaiba had installed. Maybe there'd be something new, inventive and incredibly pointless that had been added on, like a drinks holder. Aidian shook his head. Whether he wanted to admit it or not, he was nervous. He only thought that stupidly when he was filled with adrenaline, and dueling gave him one of the biggest highs he could think of. He leapt down the stairs to the sandy beach and ran towards where the bulk of the duelists were standing. -
Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
Solo Tremaine replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
For UK anime fans- Big O will be airing on Toonami (Sky channel 621) from 7:00 and 9:50pm GMT as of Monday. I've never seen Big O or heard much about it apart from the fact it's anime and rather similar to Bubblegum Crisis. It's billed in the listings as a 'children's animation', but I hope they're just judging that on the fact that it's animation rather than how heavily it's edited. Either way it's anime, so I'll be watching it. If nothing else it'll partly fill the gap that Tenchi and Gundam Wing left behind. With any luck they'll buy the rights to a few other series as well... -
I just finished watching episode 20 ("One of These Nights"), and I have a couple of questions. First of all, I don't really understand what motivates
Galatea. She's clearly a special kind of robot, but the show also emphasizes her inhumanity--if only to remind us that the Knight Sabers are definitely on the side of good.[/spoiler'] I could be making some unfair assumptions here, seeing how as I still have six episodes to go, but I'm getting rather muddled.
These things often confuse me in animes, too. BlackWarGreymon was the worst to try and figure out, but at least the dialogue's better in BGC. Anyway, my guess would be (I've not watched the series for some time)
that she is just a rogue boomer with incredible power and the ability to seek reason for actions and beliefs. Rogue boomers spread destruction about the city in the earlier episodes- since all Boomer technology was based on her she should also contain the same fundamental programming that makes her go rogue. Hence, although she can theorise about living beings and life, she can't go against what is essentially mechanical instinct.

Does
Galatea[/spoiler'] have feelings? Is she capable of love?

That would be telling...
