Sorry guys, these threads aren't allowed on OB any more, whether for recruitment or not. We try and promote decent discussion on the boards, and really I can't see much coming from this. If you have a clan that you want to advertise, keep it in your signature. It depends- a lot of the monsters with high attack power often have a drawback- with Level 4 monsters, for example, Goblin Attack Force has 2300, much more than any other Level four monster, but it has a DEF of 0, and is placed into Defence mode for two turns after it attacks. On the other end of the scale, you have Blue Eyes with 3000 ATK, which takes two Tributes to summon to the field. I think that's the strongest Normal Summon monster without any annoying drawbacks that there is. Cards like The Masked Beast are powerful, but you need all the rigmorale of the ritual cards and things like that to back it up, which can be a pain if all you need is one card. That's the same with Fusion monsters. It also depends on your brothers' tastes. Once he knows what sort of Deck he wants it's easier to give better advice over which cards are the best. And to be honest, I'm still somewhat of a novice myself.

OOC: Whoo, we actually have a second page now ^_^; And I've changed the number of crystals that we need to find, because I doubt we'll get far enough to actually do them all. There are now five instead of seven. -------------------------------------------------------------- Zuquiaomon looked at Bhaumon with a look of enigmatic indignance. "Thou hast taken the responsibility, by entering the castle of The Apex, to accept the mission given unto you." He gave a boomin whistle, which reverberated around the gargantuan room. Five Angemon flew gracefully towards the central pillar and each pulled something from its base. Turning to face the five rookie Digimon on the floor, they swooped down, holding out the objects they'd removed. The digimon stepped forwards. In the Angemons' hands were small metal objects- much like a wrist-watch, although larger and with three large buttons underneath a square screen in its centre. They were all different colours, and seemed to correspond to the colour of the diigimon they were in front of. Strabimon peered warily over the Angemon's large fingers aand gazed at the device. It was silvery-blue, with purple streaks running along its casing. Just as he reached for it, Zuquiaomon's thunderous voice made him jump back. "These divine creations are the Digivices through which thou shalt communicate with The Apex." he commanded. "But-" Salamon started. "Thou shalt travel to the world parallel to ours, known as Earth. Once there, you are to seek out the five mystic crystals of Millenniummon that were banished to that realm so long ago." The digimon fell silent. Strabimon was half-expecting Zuquiaomon to say it, but it still came as a shock. They were going to bring back Millenniummon to the Digital World. "Why bring him back?" Renamon shouted up scronfully. "He's the reason why the Digital World's in such a mess already." "We are bringing it back to rid the Universe of him entirely, impudent Renamon!" The phoenix roared. The digimon all shied back, wishing they'd drawn a more friendly and charismatic Guardian to direct them though their mission. "Thou wilst arrive on Earth at the Digimon watch factory in Tokyo, Japan. From there, the digivices will guide you on your way to the crystals." He spread his wings wide, and a spiralling slope emerged from the walls around them, leading to where the two points of the pillars touched, high above them. A bright green light exploded from the space inbetween the two points. The Gate had opened.

Questions about the cards themselves should go in the Yu-Gi-Oh CARD Advice Thread, at the top of the page. As for which is the toughest... that depends on what you mean by that. If you ask the question again in the right topic I could answer with more detail. I wouldn't want to point the thread in the wrong direction. Going along similar lines- in parallel with Simochi you could use Rain of Mercy, which would allow you to gain 1000LP and lose your opponent 1000. And with Simochi's 'mirror' card from PGD (I don't know it's name- I think it changes decreases in your Life Points to decreases in your opponent's) you can use Tremendous Fire to do 1500 in one swoop, which isn't too bad. Or Ring of Destruction, which is even better. I was thinking of making a Deck along that kind of Life Point devastation line, but I've not looked into the cards that could back it up.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel Everyone at high school used to mix mayonaise with ketchup and put it all over their fries. It was admittedly very good.
That's what Thousand Island dressing is, hehe. I eat peas with cheese. But they have to be the right sort of peas. Not the huge, pale green ones that look like BB pellets, but the smaller, sweeter, green ones. Grating Red Leicester all over it makes them taste very nice, heh. My mum made me try apple with cheese today, but I wasn't particularly impressed with it. Ketchup goes well with almost anything. I love tomato things, but not tomatoes themselves- I'll have sauce, soup (Heinz Tomato Soup is the bes in the world), stuff in things (like pizza, curry), but not on their own. Unless they're in a Bacon, Mozarella and Tomato Panini from Costa. Uhm... I used to put sugar in my milk, but I've not done that for years now. And I'd have butter with roast beef, heh. That's about it.

I would suggest taking out Black Skull Dragon too. Leave in Summoned Skull, though, but with a Deck that big getting the fusion together's going to be a pain and'll only slow you down, generally. Red Eyes isn't that great a monster for it's requirements, anyway. Jinzo'd do you better in that respect. Although if you need that many traps you might want to go for a different one, like Beast of Talwar. I'm not sure 3 Shallow Graves are that good an idea, either, bearing in mind you and your opponent both summon a monster to the field. It's good for Flip-Effect ones, but you could use Spear Cretin for that just as easily, and that'll protect your Life Points from an attack, too. I'd suggest Call of the Haunted/Premature Burial but I don't know if you have The Shallow Graves in there for any purpose I'm not seeing, heh.

Time in Dimensional Terms (Theories Inside)
Solo Tremaine replied to Corey's topic in General Discussion
I had always thought of time as being a fairly linear thing, except the problem with that is the creation of the Universe- something can't logically suddenly exist from nothing- there would have to be something before that in order for there to be something spring from it. I've often wondered what caused the Big Bang, and I kind of theorised that maybe a new one was created with each Black Hole, when the material inside becomes so densely packed that it explodes outwards cataclysmically and restarts the Universe. But, that said, Black Holes do actually release matter- thin particle streams do escape from it, and are visible using X-Rays, I think. I've never done any Physics past an AS-Level, so I'm probably wrong In space, time slows down anyway- it's been seen with astronauts, so it's possible you could use a Black Hole as a time-slowing device, if not an actual time-travel device. That is, assuming time was linear. If it were a bowl, you'd need to find a way to jump back to the other side, and you could probably use a Black Hole to do that. As far as time travel itself goes, I don't think it's possible to travel into the future simply because it hasn't happened yet. So, if you went back in time you wouldn't be able to go forward again back to where you were, because as son as you travel back you've changed history and a new one has to be re-written. In which case you'd have to go all the way back past the beginning of this Universe to get to the very very far future in this Universe in order to get back to where you were to start with. Or something like that. -
how many here do some kind of archery?
Solo Tremaine replied to moon-scar demon's topic in General Discussion
I used to do modern archery at a local club about five years ago, and bought a fair bit of equipment for it as well, but the club I went to wasn't very friendly and we got fed up with it after a while. I'd not taken it up since until starting at the local reenactment group. There's a big difference between modern and medieval archery (as you'd perhaps expect)- the bows are different, the draw weights are too. It's still good fun, though. I now have a nice authentic 14th/15th Century longbow and I shoot whenever I can. Unfortunately the arrows I have are rather bad, and half of them broke on the first day I was shooting >_< Still, even though I'm not that great at using a historical bow, I love the sport. It's good exercise for your upper body and there's something very satisfying about hitting the target, heh. -
It was a long time since Alaris was last in the Capital. He remembered it being a very busy place when he was younger, full of life and activity. Now, it seemed dead, save for the clones wandering around and going about their business. Perhaps it was just him becoming used to it all, but a gut instinct told him it was something deeper than that. After all, Ben must have his reasons to worry. A high-ceilinged, well-lit corridor led them to the Chamber. Rows of dog-clone guards flanked the walls, standing firmly to attention as if on constant display. Ahead of them were two stone doors with intricate carvings of clones embedded in them. They told the story of the creation of the clones, the first war with the humans and the building of the Capital. The clones were not particularly proud of their origins, but thrived on stories of success and of usurping the humans' rule. The group stood by the door and waited. Several of the dog-clones eyed them suspiciously, watching their every move. "I get the feeling we're not welcome here." Rena hissed, feeling her hackles rising. Alaris felt less than comfortable as well. He turned back to the Chamber doors and gave them a hefty knock with his claw.

If you have Fiber Jar somewhere then it shouldn't be too much of a problem. At least then you have a chance to recycle everything if it's getting too tight in a Duel.

A Deck Garage sub-forum would give hundreds of two or three post threads (depending how arguementative things get), most of which would only be posted in for a day or so until the Deck's been thoroughly analysed. I think this thread does well as it is, personally, and it prevents spammy, cluttered forums. If people showed a little more common courtesy when posting, i.e. commenting on someone else's Deck before posting their own, there wouldn't be any trouble. That's all it takes. But if your Deck doesn't get rated or criticised or whatever, try and look at it yourself as best you can and try and figure out its weaknesses, or read over what other people's Decks had been lacking and see if that applies to your own as well.

I really liked the endings. Surprisingly, I found them to be very enjoyable, heh. It's very rare that we'll get to go so deep into another character's mind, and I often enjoy sinking into the depeness of some of the questions raised and relating them to myself, expecially those of Shinji.
I'm a sucker for a happy ending, too. Or at least, what I interpret as a happy ending. To me, it seemed that Shinji was finally free of all of the constraints he'd set down on himself- he'd finally realised that people needed and loved him, and that really appealed to me.
From the sounds of what happens in the movies, I don't think I'll like them as much.
Originally posted by vegeta rocker If you want a terrible song, how about the one Prissi is singing in like episode 2? Or 3? It's the one when Rina finds her. It goes something like we look to the west and stuff like that. Japanese should have been used for that song. It just burns your ears in english.
Were they in Japanese I probably wouldn't mind them, but the subtitles of the main themes and the translations of the songs aren't particularly great, heh, and has kind of stuck me in the frame of mind of them not being very good. The electric guitar orchestration's good, mind. I still prefer the Evangelion songs. One thing, though- am I right in thinking Spike Spencer plays Maki? He's not cast in the end credits at all (Maki's name appears nowhere), but I'm sure it's him. He sounds almost exactly like Shinji, perhaps it's just me...

Anime A Yu-Gi-Oh Live Action Movie...
Solo Tremaine replied to Aya_Fujimiya_42's topic in Otaku Central
It's not the monsters I'm bothered about- with CGI effects capable of the things in the Final Fantasy movie I'm sure they'd be really fantastic -it's the human characters that would worry me. I wouldn't mind so much if it were to be computer animated, but even then the style'd be considerably different and would need getting used to. -
Originally posted by Heaven's Cloud I think that the music from Bubblegum Crisis is hysterical because the lyrics are so bad...it just goes to show that language does not transcend all barriers.
Yeah, definately ^_^; The ending theme's not so bad as the opening one, but they're still pretty bad. One of the few programmes I try and avoid the opening and closing credits to, heh.
It is a pretty funny series and has some near laugh out loud scenes. It also has quite a bit of action. The only thing that I think the story is lacking is charecterization...I never felt familiar with any charecters despite the excellent job they do on giving the girls such flamboyant personalities...
Yeah, the characters are quite hard to identify with, and very much playing on stereotypes, but I like them anyway. They all seem to help the storyline flow as it should. I hope the series doesn't drag on too much, though. It seems like we should be getting to the climax in a few episodes' time, but we've still got another twelve left o_o;

The four digimon stood in the castle's huge hallways, the entire surrounding structure glimmering in the light. Strabimon looked around nervously. "Um..." Zuquiaomon turned his massive head to face him. "What?" The blue-furred digimon shied back slightly. "I was just wondering... what do you want us to do?" Zuquiaomon ruffled his feather irritatedly. He'd hoped for so much more... "I am getting to that, impudent one. Thou followst me or be thrown from the castle." They carried on walking, Flamon walking alongside them, until they reached another set of massive doors towards the centre of the castle. The guardian phoenix laid his front two wings on the doors and they swung open. A blinding light shone through the opening crack in the doors. When their eyes had adjusted to the light, the sight that stood before them made their jaws drop. Strabimon had never seen anything like it before. A huge jagged pillar rose from the floor, to be met half-way up the immense cone-shaped chamber by a plinth hanging from the ceiling. Inbetween the two points was an intense white light. A warm, electrical feeling spread around the room, ridding the digimon of the thoughts of the cold outside. Groups of angel digimon flew around, tending to dials on the walls. "Oh... my..." was all Strabimon could muster.
Originally posted by Outcast Beast Wars was my least favourite of the Transformers series, I think that it just didn't have the same impact on me as the other series like Generation One and Robots in Disguise
I can understand that. Having never been able to see much (or any, actually) of the original series I never really grew to like it when I was younger, and so didn't develop an attachment to it- it was only after seeing Beast Wars that I watched any of the original ones. I still like G1, but it's not my favourite series.
The Minicons would be cool if they hadn't made the show childish, i.e Sparkplug would kick Billy's *** any day of the year.
Heh, Billy and Fred annoy me. I'd find it more interesting if the Transformers themselves had a bigger part to play than the kids myself. As it is they seem like accessories to the humans, which doesn't seem right as they're the ones who actually do everything.

Lookie meh sig! I loved Beast Machines, almost needless to say. That and Beast Wars were my favourites, and that's primarily because of the 'dumb animals' that replaced the vehicles. I've always preferred them. The first season, though, was admittedly rather poor, but during the second and third seasons things really started to pull together. You can't watch Beast Machines without having first seen Beast Wars either, really, as the two are more or less consecutive series. Armada's pretty good so far, although Rad, Carlos and Alexis annoy me frequently. We've not seen past the episode where
Jetfire and Optimus combine
, and we probably won't annoyingly. Looking at episode guides for after that, I know it gets a lot better. I find it better than Robots in Disguise, at any rate. The far-too-formulaic plot in that really got up my nose. My general idea that I get from TF fans is that people who disliked Beast Wars were being overly nostalgic about the old Transformers series. Nobody I know here likes Beast Wars- they instantly say it's crap without having actually seen it (if you have seen it then it's alright, you're justified in saying it's bad), just because the older one they preferred was so much 'cooler', regardless of its datedness. I know I've not seen much outside of the Movie, but from what I have seen I still prefer Beast Wars.

Dang, I'm stuck between two... can I give these half a vote each? I would choose James because he's always nice and friendly to talk to, very welcoming and has lots of interesting things to say. They're good qualities to find in someone fun to hang around with. I have quite a bit in common with Shy, in terms of tastes and outlooks, and that's also an important factor in finding people to hang out with- someone you can have a decent debate with. Not that I've had the chance to much with anyone, but I'm sure I could. Um... I'm choosing Shy, because he had an avatar of Kaworu a few months ago. He is more attractive than Mario, after all ^_~

Anime A Yu-Gi-Oh Live Action Movie...
Solo Tremaine replied to Aya_Fujimiya_42's topic in Otaku Central
Oh, I see... Duh, I didn't realise this was entirely rumour-driven/inspired, heh. Either way, with rumours flying around everywhere, I hope it's not something that the studios decide to make. The casting would need a lot of work and thought put into it- I think a lot of those 'cast' by Anime Insider are based too much on superficiality. I still don't think it'll work, personally. I'm not sure any live-action anime can work, unless of course the characters are different. With something as stylised as Yu-Gi-Oh finding a face to fit the face could be difficult. -
Originally posted by James And there's another one...gah, I always ALWAYS forget the name of it. If you have ever seen Evangelion: Death & Rebirth...and you see the end credits, they play the piece. It is often played at funerals. And every time I hear it...it never fails to make me want to cry. lol It's the only music piece capable of doing that. It almost reaches inside my head and touches my nerves directly. I can't explain it...it's like nothing I've ever heard. I wish I could remember the name.
One like that I know is Barber's Adagio. That's not the full name, but it's very well-known and often played in moments of extreme sadness, usually chorally or with strings. There's a lot of anime classical music I like (Evangelion for one is great, and performed by the London Philharmonic Ochestra, no less ^_^), and there's a lot of traditional classical music that's used in them, like Beethoven's Ode to Joy played when
Kaworu descends into the NERV base to find Lillith
. It's also on the trailer. That bit's one of my all-time favourites, although it annoys me that they play it as part of the UEFA Cup Football league theme >_

This series has recently been airing on the Sci-Fi channel in the UK, and personally I think it's great. It's almost up to the same standards as Evangelion in terms of the action, drama, suspense, but is a lot more light-hearted, which makes it somewhat easier to get through. I really like the way the characters are written (particularly Maki, Nene, Lina and Priss). In my opinion, the music's not too great (along with the song lyrics: "Your DNA is the best" o_O; ), but it's not too obvious, hehe. We're not all the way through the series yet (we're over half-way through, with 13 episodes left). There still seems to be a lot left in it, though. I hope it'll continue to be as good as it has been. I was wondering if anyone else had seen it, and what they thought of it.

Anime A Yu-Gi-Oh Live Action Movie...

*merges threads* I still don't like the idea. I really don't. -
Smoke and dust filled the corridors, concealing the battered bodies of cave scorpions and bat-clones caught in the blasts. Even Rena's highly tuned vision was having problems seeing through the waves of dirty mist. It clogged her nostrils, too, which made trying to smell their way out even more difficult. "How far out are we?" Alaris called, clambering over a scorpion's tail while careful not to sting himself on it. "I can't tell. Some of the passageways ahead may have caved in- I'm not sensing any breeze from there," she called back, trying to clear the air immediately in front of her with a wave of her hand. Above, they could just make out the paths of the light crystal veins, although most were obscured by soot or shattered by the explosions. "There's no point following those now," Alaris noted as he slid from a rock slab next to Rena. "Perhaps-" "Alaris, can you hear me?" The pangolin shuddered and felt a cold wave travelling down his spine. He scanned the area around him, trying to find the source of the voice. "Ben? Where are you?" "I'm on the other side of the cave-in." "Bu-" "And before you ask, I'm telepathic." "Oh." "We took care of the Queen," Rena spoke directly to Alaris, although he could tell she was addressing Ben. "They shouldn't cause any more trouble for a long time." "That's good to hear." Ben's voice was beginning to sound a little weak. Alaris guessed it was the effort of keeping a psychic link open on top of fatigue from the battle. "Xythe's taking us towards the Capital. I want to know what's happened. See if you two can get round." His voice disappeared, and Alaris felt normal again. It was a relieving feeling. Rena stared at the cave walls blankly. "You first." Alaris wrenched his massive sword from the scabbard on his back and plunged it into the wall of the cave. A fissure tore from the blade to the floor and ceiling of the tunnel. He ripped the blade out and hurled it into the side again, while Rena dismembered a cave scorpion and began hacking at the stone with its armoured pincer.
