1.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel People honestly think Tremors is trying to be piss-your-pants scary? There are different levels and grades of the genre. Tremors is one of those comedic-monster movies, in my opinion. It shouldn't even be compared to Aliens.
That's exactly what I thought. It's meant to be tongue-in-cheek. I personally thought the first one was the best. It had the best humour, the better characters and the novelty was there too. The second was alright, sequel-worthy at least, but it was still a little tired. There was something lost in it that didn't make it as good as the first, perhaps the writing *shrugs* The third was watchable, but as close to unwatchable as it can get without me switching over. I foud it rather bland, the characters were worn out and the humour wasn't as good. Plus
they killed Miguel. Dammit.
I had no idea there was a TV series, though.
2. Mako kept running up and down the room, relentlessly thinking about seeing Impmon again. "Do you think he still remembers us?" he asked. Ai looked up at him, half-shocked. "Of course he will!" She held up the purple-rimmed digivice and held it out to him pointedly. Mako smiled. "Yeah. But... do you think he's okay? I mean, the D-Reaper's gone, hasn't it?" Ai shook her head. "I don't know. It was very big. Maybe they didn't get all of it." The two of them looked worriedly out of the window, anxiously awaiting any news of Impmon's situation...
3. Mario, Grand Theft Auto and... damn >_< if it's a sub-forum, then Trigun. If that suffices: Name all members who have been Admins at some point.
4. OOC: Hehe, thank you Raiha ^_^ I'm going to be away this weekend, so I won't be able to post >_< Feel free to take Alaris along wherever, and I'll pick him up when I get back. -------------------------------------- Alaris surveyed his kill. It was quick and efficient, just as it should be. Partly driven by Tarrik's death, partly freeing himself form the nerves of a first operation. Whatever happened now, he had to keep cool and stay strong. If the inhabitants of the Capital had fled, they could all be in danger. The Capital was their safe haven- if they're not underground, they could well be at the mercy of the human armies. A series of loud booms and rumbles reverberated around the chamber. Rena and Alaris looked at each other urgently before heading back towards the others.
5. OOC: I'm going to be away Saturday and Sunday, so I won't be able to see what's going on at all. Please don't go too far yet- ideally, I'd prefer for everyone not to go to Earth yet unless you're doing something not plot-related, like introducing your character further. If you're Neutral or Guardian-alligned, you'd be going through with Strabimon anyway, heh. ------------------------------------------------------ "Gifts beyond measure, eh?" Strabimon mumbled to himself. That could be very interesting. Maybe he'd be able to convince everyone that he was actually a good person. He stepped forwards, looking pointedly at Zuquiaomon. The leviathan phoenix looked down at him approvingly, and then scanned the rest of the group. Not many others seemed brave enough to step forwards. He gave a disapproving look. "Have none of you the courage to smite thine enemy?" Strabimon looked behind him. many of the Digimon were unsure of what was being asked. For many years they'd been peace-loving creatures afraid of any confrontation. Without Millenniummon, there was little need to fight. Few were willing to sacrifice their precious, cosy lives to travel to fight an enemy who only vaguely existed in their memories. He sighed. At least he wouldn't be entirely alone. he looked down at the Salamon which had knocked into his leg and half-smiled. "Hey!" a strong voice called from the back of the group. Strabimon looked round to see a Renamon pushing her way through the group to get to the front. "I'm in. I've a score to settle with Millennimmon." she said boldly. Strabimon scratched his ear. This would definately be interesting. The group of digimon began to pull away. They'd seen enough. Only one remained, studying the castle with a look of mild disbelief on his face. "Art thou entering?" Zuquiaomon boomed in irritation. The digimon stood up straight, alerted, and gave the phoenix a curious stare. Shrugging, he sidled up to the other three. "Enter." The four digimon apprehensively followed Zuqiaomon inside, as the gigantic crystal doors swung shut behind them. ---------------------- OOC: If there's anyone else who's not arrived at the Apex yet and needs to (*hint hint*- Leh, JJ and §corpio), the castle won't be taking off in a while, so you can still get in, or you could be in there already if needs be. Neutral digimon can get to Earth via anomalies in the time-space continuum if needs be, heh. Anyways, have fun while I'm gone. Don't post too much or go too quickly, please ^_^
6. Uh... I'll be attending college next year, but it's not as a residential thing. It's an intensive acting course and I'll be living at home. I'm confused about the difference between college and university, where I would be going had I wanted to. There I'd definately be moving into a student flat and paying fees. As it is, I won't be this year. Although in that respect I don't think I'm missing much :p I've no idea what it's going to be like. For the last two years I've been in a Sixth Form, which you can attend after doing your GCSEs at 16. But you can also go to college then, too, if you want to, although not to do a degree course o_O; But anyway, I expect that this will be more interesting and fun, if a little harder to get to grips with. I only know two other people who are going, and I'm nervous about becoming an outcast, heh. I can't think of any real reason why I would, but I'm not into a lot of the things you'd normally do in college/university (i.e. drinking, sleeping around and partying). But this isn't an academic course... I'll be able to say more once I've started, heh. I still have holidays until September 8th, haha.
7.
Originally posted by Chichiri's Girl When you decide you want to become a star you should know whats comming. I mean if your a star you're gonna be everywhere. The pics the paparazzi take will make you famous more or less. i mean you wanted to have a face eveyone knew, right? So if you wanna be a star thenI think you're welcoming the paparazii to follow you where ever you go. it's part of the terrtiory. if you don't like it tuff. You're the one who wanted to be famous.
That comes with it, but believe it or not, not everyone who wants to be famous is doing it simply to be famous, apart from maybe the people you see on Fame Academy. I know a lot of actors are full of themselves, but the better ones are those who do it because *shock horror* they actually enjoy acting and couldn't care less what anyone else thinks of them. The point about celebrities is that they are just normal people who we happen to be in a job in which we see them every day on the television, and happen to have a lot of money to swing around as a cause. They are and do exactly the same things as everyone else. I know there are a fair few TV and film stars who shop at my local superstore. Even film stars need groceries. I'm not saying that they don't expect exposure and invasion per se, but not all of them want it. I'd half-expect bus drivers or post office workers to be famous with the amount of people who see them every day. The fact that they could be as boring as hell is besides the point. We don't pry into their private lives because their job is in a different context to an entertainment one. We become interested in the characters we see on TV and hence become interested in the person who plays them because we either like or don't like what we see. But not all famous people are actors- think about all the politicians there are around who get tabloid exposure, not to mention the royal family (at least in the UK, anyway). I think it's better for people to know what politicians get up to because they are representatives of the country as a whole, and people have the right to know if their country's being governed by a drug-snorting, child-beating maniac. But there is a limit. I do get fed up with seething how Chris Evans has a beer-belly. You could just as easily find some random person on the street and take a picture of their gut and criticise that, too. After all, the paparrazzi wouldn't want people looking into their houses every day and night, would they? I don't think anyone wants that, unless they happen to be hugely narcissistic.
8. Holding your nose isn't all that safe- the pressure can give you nosebleeds, and sneezes are meant to eject the goobies *giggles insanely* as they're what trap incoming dust particles and airbourne bacteria. They stop things form getting into your lungs, so it's a good idea to get rid of it every once in a while.
9. I don't think you have to worry about them dying that soon. I think it'll be popular for a good while yet, providing of course that 4Kids continues to dub the anime episodes in a relatively pure (i.e. unedited) format, and that the cards coming up have more interesting designs. The most popular and sought-after cards still haven't been translated into English yet: Dark Magician Girl, Magician of Black Chaos, Black Luster Soldier, BEUD. I'm sure there most people are waiting on baited breath for any news on their English releases. Only after that will there be any risk of the CCG dying out, I should imagine.
10. There's already a thread based on Yugi and Kaiba's Decks on the show, so you're free to discuss any improvements that could be made to them there: Anime Irony
11. Alaris felt sick. The poison must still be having a slight afetr-effect. Not to mention the wildcat savaging the scorpions made his stomach turn. He stood up groggily, giving Ben a look of thanks and apology. he wished he hadn't been so reckless, but... he'd lost Tarrik. It was a careless mistake, and the Youngers back at his home would surely derogate him for it. SLAM! Another cave scorpion emerged from the tunnel, to be met by a head-on collision with the black cat's foot. It staggered backwards and collapsed, hissing as it tried to right itself. Alaris reached for his sword. There would be time for self-pity later. Holding it in his good hand, he swung it through the air and brought it down hard on the scorpion's back. The serrated edge sent a crack across it's hard exo-skeleton and knocked it into an awkward position, but it was only a superficial wound, and a minor delay for the monster. Watching the panther with caution and a slight look of repulsion, he addressed Ben, the only one out of those nearby he was sure to be able to trust. "We can't stay here any more." he hissed, grimacing slightly as a twinge of pain shot through his shoulder. "The humans won't have survived past those cave scorpions- the Capital's a lost cause unless we can get rid of them, and that won't happen now."
12. Aidian watched as the last few mechanics pulled away from his Zoid, leaving the gleaming new upgrade sitting proudly upon it. Alaris would definately be pleased. He flicked some hair out of his eyes and walked up to the large white wolf-Zoid, running his fingers along its metal paw. This was his dream... and now he was finally able to take part in what he saw as the most important part of life on Zi- gaining freedom. The lift shuddered to a halt next to him and he stepped on board, ready to get into the cockpit. The other pilots were getting into theirs, ready to start the mission. As he settled into the plush leather seating and strapped his harness on, his thoughts wandered to what his uncle's first combat mission under Kreuger would have been like. To serve under such a Colonel as him would have been the greates honour imaginable. He jabbed a few buttons and the cockpit hissed shut. Not that working under Kreuger's son was any less admirable, though. He was to be the long-rage reconaissance and cover for this mission. The optimised sniper scope of the Konig Wolf gave a great eye for detecting traps. It wasn't particularly good at close combat, but he could still rip a decent amount of armour out of a Saber Tiger without any hassle. Suddenly, he heard an angry tap on his canopy. He opened it up, and a very indignant-looking Raptor organoid stared back at him. He laughed. "Aha, there you are, Alaris. I was wondering where you'd gotten to." Alaris clicked his claws on the Konig Wolf's roof, as if testing it for safety. "Don't worry about that. I've had a few extra modifications fitted to aid us in combat. The Wolf's a bit heavier than normal, but I can assure you it's safe." The organoid gave a quiet groan and leapt onto the ground below, hungrily eyeing a box of tools which a passing mechanic was carrying. Rolling his eyes, Aidian closed the canopy again.
13. OOC: Whee, here we go ^_^ Just one starting point- Humans start on Earth, Digimon are gathering at the Apex or should be somewhere nearby, and Millenniummon's allies start in the Dark Ocean. If your two characters have partners, you may need to do two separate introductions in the same post and have them converge when your digimon character goes to earth (which will be as soon as possible.) Many thanks for signing up, everyone ^_^ ----------------------------------------------- Long ago, in the Digital World, an ancient force of evil roamed the planet- Millenniummon. A hugely powerful dark dragon, he would not stop until the entire world was covered by the ashes of his devastation. The four Guardians of the Digital World, awoken by the cries for help by the inhabitants of the Digital World, trapped Millenniummon inside a crystal with a powerful seal. They knew this would not be enough to stop it, however, and then broke the crystal into nine parts- eight of which were banished to another dimension. These eight contained the immense powers concealed within the evil. The ninth, harbouring the monster's soul, was kept in The Apex, the four guardians' floating temple. Now, centuries later, the world which the crystals had been banished to has awoken- its inhabitants are starting to dig up the ground, and one by one the crystals are emerging. The monster's soul can sense it, and wants to break free. He still controls his minions through the Dark Ocean, the only place where his power can manifest itself. he has begun sending them to this other world to retrieve his power so he can be freed from his prison. If they succeed, not even the Guardian's power may be able to stop them. The Digimon must act fast. The Guardians are sending everyone they can trust into the other world to recover the crystals so they can be destroyed once and for all. A winter sunset in the Digital World's continent of Server. The deep red sun was sinking slowly behind the mountains on the horizon, casting colossal shadows across the land. White clouds floated calmly thorugh the sky above, painted a rosy pink by the glowing sunlight. The otherwise idyllic sunset was given a wintery feel by the icy wind which ripped across the land, cutting through any who were exposed to its bitter cold. It was a harsh wind, colder than many had ever experienced before. It was not a good sign. A large group of huddled digimon stood at the forests' edge, all anxiously awaiting something. They stood vigilantly by the trees, watching the horizon. One of the digimon was standing apart from the others, shivering slightly. Even his coat of blue fur wasn't enough to shield him from the dry cold. He gave a longing look at the ones hugging each other for warmth, and turned his gaze to the skies. He'd never done anything like this before. If he managed to survive the wait in the freezing wind, he'd be sure to carry the quest to completion, whatever the Guardians wanted him to do. They had called to him, after all. As another shiver cascaded down his back, he held his arms tightly to himself in an effort to keep warm. "Damn cold..." he hissed, grabbing his furred scarf-like fronds coming from his neck and pulling them to his chest. Suddenly, a collctive gasp rose from the crowd. Some of the digimon started pointing up at an object in the sky. The Apex had arrived. A gigantic crystal castle built by the guardians of the Digital World- A shining beacon of hope to enyone who saw it. Its tall spires sparkled magnificently in the light, casting huge rainbows all about it which reached down to the darkening ground below. It floated effortlessly over the land, and silently began its descent. Slowly, it came to a gentle stop, hardly even scattering the dust on the ground as it landed. Two huge doors stood in front of them. They looked nervously at one another to gain an idea as to what to do, when they suddenly opened. From behind them emerged one of the four guardians- Zuquiaomon, the phoenix.
14.
Originally posted by James Sure, you get your goobies all over them, but they're your goobies.
That made me laugh so much. Goobies... Anyway, I don't think either is more unhygenic than the other, really. Bogies will out, in this situation. Although with tissues you run the risk of getting them all over your trousers, seeing as the... soaks through and all. One thing about tissues- if you forget to take them out of your trousers before you wash them, you have a big mess waiting for you when you open the washing machine. So hankies definately have their advantages.
15.
Originally posted by James Regarding fan fiction...this is a site that we are working on. It will be going up soon. And it'll be just like Fan Art. It'll also connect to myOtaku.
Oh, fantastic ^_^ I was hoping there'd be a fanfiction addition soon. And with linkage to myOtaku, that's even better *grins widely*
16. Okay, guys ^_^ Sorry I've started this late. I don't really have much of an excuse- I've been wanting to get it done but I've not been able to make time enough for it. Thank you everyone for signing up. You can still join if you want to for a few days after the RPG's started, but please still observe the guidelines set in the first post (even though they are mighty confusing in places). Just before we get going, I have one or two requests: -No more than three posts per person per day, please. It can get very confusing otherwise. -Take care when using other people's characters in a scene. Just common courtesy, really ^_^ I'll explain everything else as I go, and if I think of anything I'll let you know in the RPG thread as an OOC. Heh, and *takes page out of Ben's book* if you feel you can't take part any more, let me know. I'll send a few gentle reminders anyway if things are going slowly (and I'll notify everyone by PM that this is starting), but if you're not posting full stop I'd prefer to know. That way I won't flood your inboxes, hehe. See you on the flip side ^_^
17. I don't tend to do things like that... but my mum started hitting me with a huge piece of foam in Toys 'R Us once. She had all the store detectives following her. She must have gotten bored waiting for us to stop wowing at everything on the shelves, heh. And this was about six months ago.
18. o_O;; Um... I'd have to say I use tissues- They seem to hold it all better, and you get much more for your money than with a hankie, which you have to keep washing. My dad has hundreds of them, and I can't really see much point to them save for looking a bit nicer. Although, why bother having something nice-looking if all you're going to do is eject phlegm onto it?
19. If you continue to pointlessly shoot your mouths off at each other I will close this thread without hesitation. This is about organising and signing up for the tournament, not flaming your opponent.
20. I downloaded a PHG set for it only two days ago. It works fine, heh. But anyway, it's up to polyfuse to decide.
21. That's... fantastic, Mina. The imagery and description's really amazing. Heh, for being only 25% awake, that's very good stuff. The last stanza has a great rhythm to it, as well. I don't think there's much left to say. I really like it.
22. Alaris ran over to the fallen soldier and knelt down beside him. He felt the warm blood trickling over his claws as he held the armadillo-clone's hread up slightly. "Tarrik, where ae the others?" he whispered. "I... I'm sorry, Ax... the-" he writhed upwards in a horrific arc and vomited a fountain of blood onto the floor. A few seconds later, after three tired and ragged breaths, he slumped over, his eyes staring soullessly into his commander's. They had to leave. An ominous clicking echoed through the dimly-lit tunnels, above the distant sounds of gunfire, screams and the wind whistling down the rocky passageways. The cave scorpions were getting nearer. He edgeded back towards the others, trying to tear his gaze away from the now lifeless eyes of his former friend, the blood on his claws glistening sickeningly in the light of the crystals. "I think..." but he couldn't think straight any more. Tarrik's body lay motionless at the other side of the room, and he couldn't do anything to save him. "Where can we run?"

OOC: Whoa, Tical. Don't go too fast- you could run the risk of taking the RPG in the wrong direction. It's good to keep it moving, but if you do too much too quickly you can run away with it, leaving people like me wondering what the hell's going on. Not to mention, you took all of our characters with you >_
24. As has been already stated in this thread, please include the reasons why the said card is your favourite, swordhunter. But welcome to the boards, by the way. Be sure to read the Rules (when they're back up again) and have fun.
25. *thinks back to physics AS level* To answer the stars question- they wouldn't have been seen because the photographic cells used by the TV camera wouldn't have been strong enough to pick up their light. The light-detecting cells can either be big to get more light or small to get more detail. Bearing in mind, reception on the moon isn't going to be great, and 1969 isn't the era of fantastic picture quality, they'd be more likely to want more detail to actually see the astronauts and what they're doing, so the stars' light wouldn't necessarily have been picked up by the photoreceptive cells. Anyway, I think it happened. As has been said, it would seem pointless to mount a hoax that large when it would be just as easy to actually send those people to the moon in the first place. And besides, how would they have been able to simulate the low gravity on the moon, aside from wires and things (which were not attached to the astronauts)? I guess it could have been underwater, but even then you'd be able to tell if it was, and it's doubtful that the equipment would be waterproof enough.
