Writing To all my Digimon-loving buddies, I bring you "Digimon Avatars"!
Solo Tremaine replied to Sandy's topic in Creative Works
Whoa. That's a lot of episodes ^_^; At least they aren't epically long, though. Eee! Ari's a really great character. I like the idea of the Nothingness, too. Something akin to the Nothing in The Neverending Story, I imagine? -
Name: Aidian (heh, not feeling very original at the moment) Appearance: Long-ish black hair, spiked up. His eyes are a deep dark blue and he has a tattoo on his right cheek- basically a tapered black line running below his eye and then down his face in a spike. His clothes are mostly black apart from the white belt he wears around his waist and the silver star pendant he wears around his neck. He wears a short black denim jacket and black jeans, along with a black shirt. Bio: 17 years old. He found out that he was part digimon when he inadvertantly turned into his Human Hybrid form six years ago and destroyed his home. His family subsequently abandoned him and he was put into a care home. When he was let out, he decided to try and become a superhero-like character and use his powers to stop crimes. It didn't work, however, and he ended up being seriously injured while trying to break up a fight. He often wonders how he got to be part digimon and wondered whether his real parents were actually from the Digital World. Hybrid: Lupaemon Attacks: Wolf Blade, Howling Claw Slash (no sword. Blue sparks fly from his claws and electrify the opponent) Sirimon: Thunder Blade, Metal Storm Fenrismon: Aurora Blade, Solaris Burst

But... Sinister Serpent's effect allows you to Special Summon another Sinister Serpent, doesn't it? Only one per deck would render that effect useless. Maybe two, but not one I wouldn't think. -
According to national statistics, only 1% of Japan's population is Christian. Mind you, that is two million or so people. The major religions are Buddhism and Shinto. But, as Digital_Monster pointed out, this isn't a debate about religion. It just happens that it's mainly the religious groups who get het up about things like this. It was the same with Harry Potter. The idea seems to be that if it's popular, knock it. And get more publicity while doing so. But some people do have very outspoken views about what's right and wrong, and this is what they believe. In Japan the anime can be very immoral and disturbing, but I'm guessing this is because it's considered a form of art as well as entertainment. It's the same with a lot of the old statues and paintings- in a highly repressed society it seems strange that the statues seem to depict mostly naked people. But it was art, so people didn't object to it. They didn't strut around starkers themselves. It's possible their culture has this frame of mind. In Japan, as far as I know (or at least this is the impression that I get), it isn't considered right to display emotion in public. But in animes, the characters are emotional all the time. So it shows a detachment from reality, and even if it is allegorical to something religious it probably isn't a heavy basing on it- much less in a children's anime. But cultures will always clash. The thing about the Western societies is that their children's programmes are very protective about what they show- most can't or don't even say 'death' or 'dead'. Suddenly, these programmes come from Japan in which things are torn in half, burnt to a crisp or eliminated in various other gory ways and it's probably just still a bit of a culture shock. Pokemon caused a huge stir when it arrived because of it's display of violence. It'll probably still be a while before people become accustomed to the things represented in anime.

Valkyrion looked around the magma chamber. It was too well-formed to be a natural cave. The tiki torches lining the walls were a sure sign of inhabitants. But whether they were friendly or not was another matter. Carefully, he stepped inside the cmaber. At the opposite end was a large throne-like structure, presumably where the Guardian sat. There was no sign of the Exodia slab anywhere. He guessed the Dark forces would be here to take it soon, so they had to convince the Fire Guardian to let them take it with them. Neo eyed the walls carefully. Looking down, far below them he could see the massive pool of lava. Strange red mists danced over the surface like pond skaters on the water- Darkfire Dragons. They didn't seem to have noticed them yet, so the quicker they got onto the main platform the better. The way to the platform was to jump from stone pillar to stone pillar- the stone platforms were unstable and dangerous. Neo didn;t like this idea, and the Exodia slab may not make it across if carried by the Kuriboh. Blue Eyes grabbed the slab and flew onto the platform, creating a large vibration when he landed heavily on it. Neo, Feyd, Nico, Chaos and Valkyrion jumped onto it as the three pillars fell down into the pool below. Suddenly, a huge roar shook tha cave walls. "Who goes there?" a reptilian voice roared. The cave shook more violently as a huge red dragon erupted from the lava below. The Tyrant Dragon sat upon his throne and eyed them hungrily. Valkyrion stepped forwards. "We are warriors travelling across your domain. Are you the Guardian of Exodia?" "I am." The Dragon growled. "What do you want?" "Your realm is in great danger. The Dark forces-" "I know what they plan to do..." The dragon caught sight of the Exodia slab being held by Blue Eyes and reeled back in his stone throne. "WHY HAVE YOU BROUGHT THAT HERE? YOU HAVE ENDANGERED MY REALM!" he shrieked furiously, causing large chunks of rock to fall from the ceiling. "Your realm has been in danger even before we entered it!" Blue Eyes roared. "The Dark forces will not stop until they have all five Exodia pieces." Valkyrion stepped forwards. "If you want your realm to be spared give us your slab so that we may summon him to protect the world again. We haven't much time." A Darkfire Soldier appeared in a flash of flames next to the Tyrant Dragon. Whispering something hurriedly in his ear, he disappeared. "You're already too late..."

There isn't an English Dark Magician Girl out yet, and if you have one then it's more than likely fake. The same with BLS and MOBC. They'll probably come out when the Japanese booster sets they're in gets translated, which shouldn't be too long. September, at a wild guess?

Many people interpret it to be evil, but it really isn't, not least because that isn't what the show's trying to convey. It does not mean to provoke religious antagonism by having 'demon' spirits, and Beelzemon brought up a good point about Christianity- it isn't Japan's major religion, so any references to demons don't mean anything much to them. I think it's all a case of being read into too much. If you look at it this way, every struggle between good and evil could be interpreted as the fight between heaven and hell, which it isn't necessarily meant to be. There is no plot in anything without a struggle between good and evil. If you want to start calling every vague reference to religion 'evil', then there would be no television at all. If people find it offensive then just don't watch it. It's obviously not made for you. The American market is just too sanitized for a lot of the Japanese references, which is why some things can be lost in the translation which makes it less enjoyable than in its original form. I've never been particularly religious, but I think it's wrong to damn something that doesn't mean to have possibly offensive references in it. After all, I doubt many people who criticize it has ever watched it- there is always a decent moral behind the story, whether it's not to judge people on their appearance, not to lie, or to always be there for your friends. It's a children's anime. Not evil, is my verdict.

Nexii is a different character to Nico. Nico is Darncoolguy's character, a Battle Steer; and Nexii is a Black Paladin, Nexus' character. Sorry I've not been able to post for a bit- I've been very busy. Back very soon!

I didn't think the GF ending was pathetic as such- it was just a little unoriginal compared to the first in my view. It was annoying that the ending was almost exactly the same as the CC one, albeit via a slightly different method. They could have had something much more impressive. But that's the way it goes, I guess.

OOC: That sounds okay, I think... I'm not sure I quite understood. But never mind ^_^; I'm not too sure where we're going at the moment, Mina. Someone here'll point us in the right direction, I should hope. ---------------------------------------- Valkyrion and the others had managed to drag Blue-Eyes over to the top of a rocky mound, where below them in a valley they could see a small settlement made of stone buildings. They must have something capable of healing. They had to. Looking back at the trail of silver oozing slowly from Blue-Eyes' side, Valkyrion could tell they wouldn't be able to last much longer if they were constantly being followed. The dragon held tightly onto the Exodia piece as 200-odd Kuribohs shuffled him closer to the town. Valkyrion watched the others for a while. That large battle had left everyone feeling exhausted, and they all looked like they needed replenishment of energy. Neo twirled his sword through the air impressively. Valkyrion had no idea where he was from, but he'd obviously had a good deal of training. He was glad to see Chaos again, too. An old friend from the wars before, the two warriors had fought alongside each other and had sworn to be sealed away along with Exodia to guard it in the Shadow Realm. As it turned out, the Shadow Realm was merely a myth dreamed up by the druids of the time- Valkyrion experienced no mystic dimension while he was asleep. But you could never refute anything told by the prophets. It could cost dearly. As they neared the village, Nico spied something hiding in the window of one of the buildings. A green creature, clothed in purple rags. A Goblin. Suddenly, the drifter lunger in through the window, much to the surprise of those around him. After a huge racket, he stumbled out, holding the struggling creature by the collar of his clothes. "You have a healing potion, don't you?" he said firmly. The Goblin smiled nervously and wriggled to try and get the warrior to loosen his grip. "Oi Don' know what you be talking abou'!" he sneered, showing off his yellow teeth. "Don't play dumb with me." Neo continued. Valkyrion watched on with great interest. Neo knew his stuff. "I know you have a Remedy. One of our number is injured and we need to heal him. You have such a Remedy." "Issa secret!" the goblin yelled. "Then get your Secret Remedy from your house and bring it outside. Else these fine warriors-" he said, indicating Nico, Valkyrion and Chaos. Feyd gave the green thing the hardest-looking stare it could manage. "-will gladly search your house for you." The creature scurried inside and shot out almost immediately, carrying a jar of small blue squashy beads of potion. He dumped a few onto Blue-Eyes' wounds and rubbed it in slightly, before backing back to the house. "Make sure he drinks!" he squeaked, before slamming the door and bolting it shut. Valkyrion smirked. All they needed to do now was get some provisions and head to the nearest Guardian Temple, whichever way that was. And they needed to find Faith and Melody. He was sure they were safe, but he couldn't help worrying about what could have happened to them.

OOC: Whee! ^___^ Thanks again for signing up, guys. This is going really nicely :) Imaku, that line was really cool ^_^ ----------------------------------------- Valkyrion's sword sliced through the Relinquished with sickening ease and it fell to the ground, spluttering and quivering helplessly. A painful moan emenated from below him. He gasped at the sight of the stricken Blue-Eyes. Summoned Skulls, although their numbers were diminishing, were still flying around in the sky and attacking the inhabitants. "Chaos!" he roared. "Bring the Exodia piece over here and hurry. We need to get it and Blue-Eyes away from the battle!" Chaos nodded to Nico, who halped haul the crystal slab over to where Blue Eyes was lying. Valkyrion covered them by slicing through any Summoned Skulls which tried to attack them. Almost stepping on a blue Kuriboh, Valkyrion landed next to the dragon. "I..." was all Blue-Eyes managed to say before passing out. Chaos threw his sword into a Skull Knight before turning back to the Magnet Warrior. "How are we going to get out of here?" he yelled, ducking underneath a volley of lightning strikes. "Where are Faith and Melody?" Nico asked, looking around frantically. Valkyrion shook his head. "I prey they're somewhere safe." he said gravely. Suddenly, a shrill cackle made them freeze. The Summoned SKulls all landed behind a sinister figure. The Masked Beast stepped forwards and a twisted grin spread across his face. "None of you will be safe!" She hissed. "The Exodia slab, please." The Summoned Skulls stepped forwards ominously, raising their arms ready for an attack. Valkyrion looked to Nico. "Your Mystical Space Typhoon... can it transport us to somewhere else?" "I don't know. I've never jumped through it before." He whispered back. "We'll have to risk it. At least if we go through, they won't be able to summon Exodia." he whispered back. "Okay... here goes." Suddenly, several things happened at once. From behind the crowd of Summoned Skulls, BSkull threw his claws into the ground, ripping open a chasm and making several Skulls fall through into the oblivion below. Valkyrion threw himself into the air and began to glow. Hundreds of shining swords fell from the sky and slammed into the ground in front of The Masked Beast. Just before they hit the ground, Neo jumped nimbly between them and dived into the enclosed area, brushing his hair aside. Loading the Exodia piece onto Blue-Eyes, Chaos nodded to Nico. A black hole appeared, and Valkyrion, Neo, Nico and Chaos took Blue-Eyes and the Exodia piece through into the void beyond, not knowing where they were going to be taken. The Masked Beast screamed in frustration as the warriors disappeared without a trace... ---------------------------------------- OOC: For the purposes of this post, the Mystical Space Typhoon will be more like Dimension Hole, and transport them somewhere else ^_~. I wasn't sure whether BSkull or Millenniuth would be able to get through, so they can follow another way. If needs be, this post can be edited.

OOC: That's fine ^_^ I wasn't really too sure what I wanted done with him, but I guess he'll prove a nice expositionary character if I get stuck on how to explain the plot. --------------------------------------------------- Valkyrion froze for a few seconds as a Summoned Skull dissolved on the end of his sword. Looking down, he saw the heroic-stanced Black Luster Soldier and his optic sensors widened in surprise. Chaos... He didn't have time for a reunion now, however. Blue-Eyes' 'White Lightning' attack thundered past his left shoulder and eliminated a Whiptail Crow coming in for an attack from behind. He gave a quick thumbs-up to the dragon and slashed through another monster, splitting it in two. Below, he saw Nico defending the Exodia piece, and becoming slowly more and more overwhelmed. "We have to save Exodia!" he shouted.

That is 40 cards, actually. I would suggest putting better magic and trap cards in. A Pot of Greed/Jar of Greed/Graceful Charity will help you get the Exodia pieces out much quicker, without the risk of having to play them on the field and be destroyed. Monster Recovery and Shift would be helpful in this case as well, in case Morphing Jar #2 and/or Cyber Jar forces them out. Backup Soldier would be useful, too, as this returns three destroyed monsters from your Graveyard to your hand. Also, if you wanted a better trap/magic for discarding would be Robbin' Goblin or Type Zero Magic Crusher. For protection, Kuriboh and Waboku are musts, as these allow you to take no damage while searching for cards. Also, Raigeki and Mirror Force would be handy in case your opponent attacks you directly. Just a suggestion.

Heaven's Cloud's is amazing, hee ^_^ After managing to successfully travel through a Black Hole, Einstein suddenly realised that he'd forgotten his pen.

OOC: Sorry if this is too sudden. I can change any of it if it's not right. --------------------------------------- Valkyrion considered starting after Faith and Melody, but he had to deal with Exodia and the Council first. "Can you be sure of their plans?" Onyx sighed. "We have seen through the Ancient Telescope many times to try and uncloud the future. We know they plan to come for Exodia. To what end, we are not sure." "So it's possible they want to reawaken the Gods?" Trik spoke up. Onyx nodded. "Assuming they did, they would gain ultimate power and this world would be lost to them forever." "Do you suggest we awaken Exodia first to prevent them from doing so?" Valkyrion suggested, gazing up at the slab on the wall. The Ancient One of the Deep Forest shook its head. "We don't know what demon magic they control. If we did reawaken him we could fall into their trap." Valkyrion straightened himself and gave a stern look back to the Council members. "Do you have any better ideas?" They were right- it was dangerous. But the only way to stop them once and for all would be to completely eradicate them. Onyx was just about to answer when a noise in the distance alerted them. A long and deep warning cry of the Horn of Heaven- the siren of war. Something hit the side of the Temple. Bits of the wall started caving inwards. Onyx ripped the Exodia slab from the wall and they hurried outside. Summoned Skulls filled the sky, hurling their electric attacks at the Temple to draw the Council out into the open. From the darkness of the Forest, The Masked Beast launched his attack. His Yami spell cast a pitch darkness over the entire realm, and the fiends began to draw power from their surroundings. A burst of red flame shot from the darkness towards the group and they lunged out of the way just in time. The Exodia slab crashed to the ground, Onyx following behind it. The Giant Soldier of Stone's arm shattered as he hit the ground, but valiantly he began to hold off the invading armies from the slab. Valkyrion and Blue-Eyes headed for the sky and began battling the Summoned Skulls, while Trik hacked his way through the Skull Servants all clambering up towards the Temple. The Masked Beast signalled to the Relinquished behind him to advance into the fray...

I didn't know it but he was...
I can't say much more than what I have already, but even if he was 'just a hamster', he still meant an awful lot to you, and it's always hard to have to deal with the loss of something you love so much, not matter how big or small. It takes time to move on, to let go, but mourning a loss is never a bad thing. We shouldn't forget those we love, but try to remember more that he lived, and keep those memories in your mind rather than focussing on how he's no longer here. One of the worst things about losing someone or something close to you is the regret- whether we could have said or done something more for them to make their life better. And the truth is that they would not have loved you any less for not doing it, and they have lived the best life that they could have done. *hugs*

Kyriss slid his jacket from his shoulders and examined his face in the mirror. That kid must have had some kind of Amazonian roots to use a blopipe that well. Ah, it didn't matter now. Sitting calmly in his bed, he examined his deck. Maybe he should narrow it down to one theme instead of two. His SwordHunter would be a good card if he could get it into use, and it would fit in with his theme. And, that gave him the bonus of being able to have cards that purely worked up one set of monsters than another. He set his Deck on the bedside table. It could wait until after the tournament. This was his deck at the moment, and that was how he was going to use it. Lying back in bed, he felt his eyes growing heavy. The finals would be soon. Sooner than he'd have liked, really. But it couldn't be helped. Putting his hands behind his head, he fell asleep...

The Eye of Truth glowed on the wall of the huge stone chamber, the creature in front of it bowing his head in concentration. He could see them all at the Earth Guardian Temple. All in the same realm... The vision in his mind faded away as her thoughts returned to the dark underground chamber he was standing in. Giving himself a twisted grin, he turned into the darkness. A rasping voice stopped him. "What did you see?" He froze and turned to the source of the voice. "They are all in the Earth realm. Near the Guardian Temple." A harsh sigh ripped through the room. "This is playing out well. I will send out our forces..." The Masked Beast nodded to his master as he crawled back into the darkness... --------------------------------------------- Valkyrion looked at the two Spellcasters with curiosity. Shrugging his shoulders, he turned to the Celtic Guardian, who proceeded to lead them inside. Blue-Eyes ducked carefully underneath the door- it was too low for him to get all of the way inside, but he shoved his head into the corridor as far as he could, and an Axe Raider relayed the conversation held in the Great Chamber to him. "The legendary warrior..." an Ancient One of the Deep Forest crooned. "It is good to see you again. Although I wish we were in more felicitous circumstances." "We all do." Valkyrion hummed. "What is the situation? Have you heard any more?" A Giant Soldier of Stone, Onyx, cleared his throat. "It started several months ago when creatures were being killed in strange conditions. They would disappear for several days, and then reappear. Their bodies were merely hollow shells, looking as if nothing had ever lived in them at all. Exodia himself isn't capable of such a feat." Faith shuddered slightly. An ill wind blew through the chamber. Melody gripped her staff tightly. She'd come across a warrior Kagemusha, devoid of any signs of life on her travels some weeks ago, and the memory of it still burned into her mind. "What of Exodia?" Valkyrion continued, as a muscular Sword Hunter emerged briskly from a corridor at the side of the room. Onyx indicated at the back wall. The crystal Exodia slab stood embedded in the wall. It was the Right Leg. "He is still safe, for the moment." * * * On the borders of the mountains to the Earth realm, as night drew nearer, The Masked Beast stood. Behind him were hordes of Summoned Skulls and Swordstalkers. To his right stood three tall Relinquished, all swaying eerily from side to side in the increasing darkness. The holes in their stomach twicthed in anticipation of absorbing unwitting monsters. He surveyed the small settlement of the Earth realm with disgust and looked into the distance. The Guardian Temple stood tall from the forest around it. A perfect target. "Advance!" * * * * * As Valkyrion considered their options, Faith sensed something close by. A Dark force. She turned back to the door, and the visage of The Angle of Silence lunged at her form the darkness. She screamed and fell to the floor, Melody grabbing her shoulder in concern. They were coming.

Root Water/High Tide Gyojin, Dark Grey/Ancient One of the Deep Forest... Sorry I've not posted in a while, guys. I've drawn a blank as to what to write for Valky -__- ------------------------------------- Valkyrion landed at the Temple ahead of the Blue Eyes. It certainly didn't look like it was invading, although it was drawing a lot of attention to itself from the inhabitants of the forest below. These were immensely powerful creatures, and should not be ignored. As he set his metal feet upon the stone, a Celtic Guardian ran outside to greet him and bowed at his feet. "Please..." Valkyrion sighed. "get up. We don't have time for pleasantries. The Earth Council is inside?" The Celtic Guardian stood up and straightened himself curtly. "When we heard of your reawakening... Please forgive me. I've heard legend of your great battles. I had always dreamed of meeting you." he said, hinting a slight sign of embarrassment. Elves were not nown for their emotional display. Valkyrion would have smiled, were his metal face capable of such an action. "Thank you." he said. "As soon as I have dealt with this Blue-Eyes I will need to see the Council." The Celtic Guardian saluted and waited patiently by Valkyrion's side as the huge dragon landed on the stone temple.

I'd agree with that too, but we should really discuss it in the thread rather than just nominate it, else this'll be closed. I like sage's story because it puts a slightly different stance on the Frontier storyline (and not least because I can actually see this and not Frontier -__-), and the characters are interesting and believeable, not to mention more realistic than a lot of the stereotyopes in the series (i.e. the sporty one, the quiet one etc). My favourite character's Ari, and I can't wait to see more of it.
-
I'm not sure you'd be able to have another monster's effect, as that's specific to another monster. We have 16 people now ^_^; I think that'll be enough.
-
Prestongraff's right, not least because it would be silly to play another 'I' because otherwise you would only be able to write FIINA at the most, and that wouldn't win you the game.

Most of the most useful effect monsters (i.e. Magician of Faith, Man-Eater Bug, Mask of Darkness) are all under 1500 ATK. As well as Retrained Elven Swordsman (in the Yugi Structure Deck), and he can't be destroyed by monsters over an ATK of 1900. So power him up enough and you can't get rid of him. Nasty.
