1. I loved Macross Plus. The first two episodes were slow, in my opinion, but I stuck with it and was pleasantly surprised. ^_^ I really liked both the series and the film. I don't think you can watch one or the other- they both show different bits of the story, all of which are important. I think the plot was really well-developed. I had no idea where it was going at first, but it all came together in the end... although I prefer bits of the movie version to the series ending. The very very last bit in particular. I've never seen any other Macross episodes or serii (pl. series), but I still enjoyed it. Anything with romance and transforming planes is good ^_^
2. Mewtwo Returns was drawn by the US branch as opposed to the Japanese. You can tell because of the slightly different styling and the fact that there was no animation during the credits. There was no original music, either. I think it ws made to bridge the gap between the releases of Spell of the Unown and Pokemon 4ever. I have Mewtwo Rteurns... I bought it. Yes, I did. It's not too bad. Although rather cliche and kind of... saccharin. And it kind of drags the concept from the first movie over clones and Pokemon and which had the true right to be alive... which was fairly boring. I enjoyed it, though.
3. It's determined by the number of cards in your opponent's hand- 1000ATK/DEF for each card. I think... If that is right, here's another question: What does the Sword of Dark Destruction do?
4. 1.Who do you think had the best character design? Um... I really liked Ashitaka's design, as a human character. He looked great, everything your above-average hero should look like. Good hair, sword :p, and a good steed, too. His clothes were a little plain, though, but I don't think that matters at all. *Dreams of Roy's gear...* 2. What do you think was so good about the plot? I thought the demon's curse put a great twist on things. Ashitaka's race against time, Sawn getting infected near the end, and of course
the Nightwalker losing his head having a devastating effect on the Earth around it.
Okay, maybe it's not the same thing, but it made the ending very exciting. 3. What was unique about the weapons? o_O I liked Ashitaka's sword. It didn't have a hilt, but it was so elegant.
5. $20 is a lot for one card, if you think about how much it cost UD to make them and everything. Hyper said it was a rare promo, so that (the promotional aspect) may be what you're paying for rather than it's rareity value. I wouldn't spend that much on one card. That's the same amount you have to pay for a US SORL, Thousand Dragon or Monster Reborn. It just kind of defeats the object of it being a collectable card game to me. Although I have been tempted, buying cards is useful. But $20? And it's Japanese. I wouldn't personally buy anything that I wouldn't be able to use. But what you do is up to you.
6. What I would reccommend doing would be to wait at least a few weeks and then see how you feel about Cal. Going out with someone you hardly know is almost always a bad idea. But why the rush? Is it just to stop you from having the problem? This isn't something you should rush (although I'd say I have to agree with Asuka, love isn't a term to be used lightly). A year is a long time to wait, and I wouldn't say to drop everyone else just to wait for Matt- for all you know he could be seeing someone over there. Either way, these relationships are probably going to be temporary, especially if he's coming back. Then, assuming you still like him as much as you do, ask him out. Leave Cal for the moment until you get the true measure of him. But then again, I'm 17 and have never had a relationship before in my life. Go nuts.
7. I've made the decision to close this thread. What valuable and relevant discussion that could be made has been made, and I don't think that much more will be able to come from slagging off people who didn't know what they were talking about in the first place. There will always be culture clashes with your parents, people who don't like anime and even some who do but don't like card games. The best thing to do is ognore them and continue doing what you like to do. If they rip up or steal your cards at school, report them. Even though you shouldn't have them there in the first place (and it's safer, really. As has been said before you're not going to get any flak from your friends if you're on your own) they're still your property, and should be dealt with for destroying them. As for parents, again, let them think what they want to think and leave them too it. As long as they don't actually infringe on your privacy or overstepping any 'personal boundries' (e.g. going into your room to bin them) then that's okay. I don't think it's wise to get angry over a silly mispronunciation. It seems pointless, actually. Seeing as this thread seems to be promoting negative feelings and has more or less run its course, I'm closing it now. If anyone has any complaints, feel free to contact me about it. I know this was quite a popular thread, but I really doubt much more can be said without it being a repeat of stuff already in here. Not everyone likes anime. That's the way it goes. *shrugs and wanders off*
8. Aidian gave him an exasperated look. He wasn't going to give up his first food in weeks just because this creature was being a snob. "Would you rather we ate the dirt?" he replied under his breath. Jedah gave the rabbit another look of revulsion before trying to return to his meditation. "At least it wouldn't smell as much." "I'm sorry it's not to your taste, but we need to eat." Ambika said sternly, trying to wash over what could emenate into a confrontation they didn't need. Aidian raised his hand and a swift wind blew past Jedah, removing the flesh-tainted air away from his face. "Better?" "Much."
9. Heh :bluesweat no, I'm in the UK too- they're showing the Battle City arc now. It won't take too long for the weekday episodes to get round to that, though. They're on the Yugi vs Panik episodes at the moment. With any luck, they'll be repeated in about three weeks. I meant Nickelodeon. Sorry ^_^;
10.
Originally posted by Kinetic Thus you have never played with that deck.
Let's not get too scathing, guys. It depends what rules you play by. Going by Duellist Kingdom rules, you don't need to tribute, and there are a lot of powerful cards there that could be played easily for a heavy assault. Although it would still be fairly risky having such a large deck, as you've a much smaller chance of drawing a magic card that could get you out of tricky situations (like trying to counteract SORL or something), or one that you might need (such as Monster Reborn or Trap Hole), in case your defences are shot. Anyway, let's leave it at that.
11. Whoa, Seph. We're up to Joey vs Espa part 1 here. The Battle City arc's on Sky One every weekend. So the US is only one episode ahead, by my counting. Cartoon Network UK hasn't shown anything past Dungeon Dice Monsters Pt 3 yet.
12. EDIT: I made this more original- I realised that I was just doing exactly the same as Defcon, and that was rude of me. Sorry ^_^; BTW, Fox et al are incidental characters and can be used by anyone as you like. -------------------------- In the Great Fox, a veteran pilot watched the Type III Arwing coming into the docking bay. Smiling at the thought at seeing his old friend again, the fox ran down to meet him. The new Arwing stood elegantly in the docking bay. Just like Falco, Fox thought. Waiting patiently, he watched the Aerian jump out of his new spaceship. * * * * * "Damn instument panel! What's wrong with you?" Sabre punched the keys on the instrument panel, irritated that it had been playing up. The traitors must have altered its coordinates to get him to fly into it. He could feel the heat against his fur and the screen began to fog with condensation. As the tips of his wings began to turn black, he managed to wrestle control of the flight levers and pull away from the mini-sun. Swearing to himself about faulty equipment, he noticed a metal object flying away across Solar's surface. It looked familiar. Adjusting the scope on his eyepatch, he zoomed in. The Great Fox... Not wanting to get caught up in a fight against the entire team, he silently sped off towards Cornaria.
13. Smiling, Aidian agreed. The two of them trudged out into the long wet grass to find their quarry. Staffs poised like spears, they searched for food. It was a hard search- most animals were staying inside their burrows, sheltering from the rain. Suddenly, a rabbit shot out from the grass behind Aidian's foot. Quick as a flash, he caught its neck with the blade of his staff. It collapsed to the ground, struggling to breathe. memories of the man's dead body flashed through his mind. In the eyes of the helpless rodent he could see the fear of death. It was too late to reconsider now. The most humane thing to do would be to kill it. Closing his eyes, he struck it, killing it with one swift blow. Nepenthe watched him from a short distance away. "Why did you hesitate?" she asked softly. Aidian clutched at his wet hair. "I..." Should he really tell this stranger why he'd been running away for so long?
14. The toxic material's the rocket fuel. It's highly poisonous. I heard about it while getting my lunch. It's terrible. It must be awful to be trapped inside and knowing you're not going to survive (assuming they were conscious for that long after the initial problem). It's possible it was the heat shield failing. Tiles are notorious for coming off during re-entry. Maybe one too many came off that time... I don't think we'll know for sure for a few days yet. It is very shocking, though. My heart goes out to all the families they left behind.
15. ^_^ I've liked swords ever since I started fencing seven years ago. Most of the ones I have are for actual use, and don't look so good. I have a few (exceedingly wimpy-looking) fencing foils- about the flimsiest you can get, which I use to do the actual sport. I also do stage fight choriography with my best friend, and we both have these fantasy RPG onse which are designed to look good but be safe enough for anyone to use. They're made out of latex :bluesweat But they look very good, and they're easy to use to choriograph moves. The real meaty stuff are those you can get for historical re-enactment (I don't have one of them, but I use them), which are made of tempered steel and are incredibly heavy. Unfortunately, they don't look very nice, because they have to be accurate. (I have three lightsabers, too. Darth Maul's is my favourite :p) Heh, anyways, I love swords. Although I enjoy using them far too much to get an ornamental one, despite the fact thet they're very nice to look at. When I do get them I want to be able to use them.
16. Digimon: BladeGabumon Level: Rookie Tamer: Rae Pheonix (yes, it's a girl) Evolutions: Lupedramon (Champion), Razemon (Ultimate), MagnaGarurumon (Mega) Description: BladeGabumon is, as the name suggests, a different species of Gabumon. Instead of a horn on his head, it is a longer blade of metal. His fur coat is a royal blue and white, and the scales on his stomach are light blue. Attcks- Blade Strike, Light Beam Lupedramonmon looks like this, and he has a large sword. Attacks: Light Spear, Wolf Blade Razemon, a Deva-like digimon, is like Lupedramon but his fur is a slightly darker blue and he wears armour in the same style as the Devas did (light blue with dark blue edging). He wears leg armour, gauntlets, chest armour and a helmet. His sword is larger, and he has a steel bow, too. Attacks: Aurora Blade, Light Jevelin MagnaGarurumon is the same as in Frontier, although his smaller gun has been replaced with a large blade. Attacks: Magna Blade (see a theme here?), Solaris Burst Background: Having lived in the mountains for a very long time, BladeGabumon has problems fitting in and interacting with others.
17. Movie 4 (Pokemon 4ever) is out in US cinemas now, and the DVD will be out in March (I think). I've no idea when/if the UK will get to see them, and the fifth movie's only just started airing in Japan, I believe. So that'll probably be around sometime next year, I'm guessing. Mind you, it took a year and a half to get from movies three to four, that may have been due to the hand-over to Miramax. So it could be later.
18. I think Pokemon 4ever looks to be the best movie so far. The movies have been taken over by Miramax (of Mononoke fame), so the original music's still in there. They were only given $1m to market it this time, which is very little when you're talking about films, which is why hardly anyone's heard about it. The DVD comes out in March, according to Amazon.
19. Aidian, leaning against the wall, listened to their conversation and ignored his own need for hunger. He could catch somehting himself, if he wanted to. He didn't want anyone else doing it for him. Taking his sword from his scabbard, he turned to Nepenthe. "I'll go," he said simply. If nothing else, he wanted to pay her back for the compassion she'd shown him at the inn. Jedah looked very underwhelmed by his gesture. Ignoring him, Aidian turned to leave.
20. Okay, I understand you're new here, but I can't let this alone just because you don't know the rules yet (which are here, by the way. be sure to read them). Firstly, this post has no point to it- we can't see your cards. Secondly, any posts (specifically questions) about cards should be in this thread (The Yu-Gi-Oh CARD Advice Thread). Having said that, welcome to OtakuBoards, ACW. I hope you enjoy your stay :)
21. OOC: Whoa! Sorry for not posting in a while. I got very lost. It's very confusing -__- --------------------------------- RazeGallantmon helped Apsaramon to her feet. "Are you alright?" MetalArmadillomon's voice asked, full of concern. Apsaramon nodded, clutching her leg. "I'll be fine. It's just a little numb. I hit a rock on the way down." Rakshemonlooked around the hole, straining her eyes to see through the darkness. "I can't see any signs of a crystal..." she said thoughtfully. Razegallantmon held his staff up to the walls of the cave to try and illuminate it more. Through the shadows, they could just make out the shape of a tunnel. "Do you think it's through there?" Aidan asked. "Could be." Apsaramon said, looking at the walls. "This looks to be the same architecture as when we faced Nefertimon. that could be a clue. to where a crystal could be." Razegallantmon looked wary. "Or to where another enemy is. I hope Labramon's doing okay back there." Slowly and carefully, they walked into the tunnel.
22. OOC: Sorry, my bad. Although, up until now your character's been pretty separate, so ours wouldn't know that much about what Bazlik's been up to. Um... I did pay atention to it, but just didn't reply. I can't think of that much right now, but here's a little bit. --------------------------------------- A massive slam interrupted Aidian's thoughts. From downstairs, he heard a sinisterly manic voice. Kicking open the door to his room, he pelted down the corridor, narrowly missing running into Jedah. He'd felt his presence. Michael was running close behind. They landed at the bottom of the stairs to be greeted by a white-skinned male wearing a black trenchcoat which trailed behind him sinisterly. Jedah looked unimpressed at the stranger. Seeing Ambika and Nepenthe drawing their weapons, the three of them did the same, ready to fend off the dangerous-looking traveller.
23. It was dark. Smoke swirled around him, clouding his vision. The room smelled of blood. Disorientated, he struggled to stay upright, the smell burning his nostrils. As he righted himself, he heard a click of metal from behind him. His staff in his hand, he whirled round and slammed it into the shadows. It hit something with a sickening thud, and a ghastly wheeze emenated from the darkness. Pulling the blade free from the obstruction, he saw something fall to the floor. It was a human. Slowly, the smoke began to clear and the room came into view. Moonlight seeped in through the window, illuminating the object of his attack. It was an old man. Not just any man, but him. His cold, lifeless eyes gazed up at him, and slowly the black blood swept over the floor, engulfing him... Aidian woke with a jolt. Breathing heavily and in a cold sweat, he rubbed his face. He hated this place. He hated all of the darkness. But yet it existed everywhere. Maybe he would be better of embracing it and doing away with his life. He looked at his fist, enclosed in a gauntlet. No. That wasn't the way to go. Why was he getting so upset about Nepenthe? Was it the fact that he'd been alone for so long, or was it the fact that she showed compassion to him. It was unlike anything he'd felt before. Deep in thought, he climbed onto his bed and lay back, hoping for a less troubled rest.
24. Labyrinth of Nightmare It's quite an old thread (last posted in at December), but there's quite a bit of info here. Hope it helps.
25. All you need to do is start a thread in the Otaku Lounge. I don't think they're popular enough to warrant their own sub-forum, though. The only major ones outside Yu-Gi-Oh (which is well catered for) are Magic: The Gathering and Pokemon (which also has its own forum). The Digimon TCG can be discussed in Digimon, and the minor ones like Star Wars could go in Movies, Music and TV, possibly. It is a hard thing to place, though. We don't have a gaming lounge as such, I guess because there are really only three formats of games besides Dreamcast, which no longer exists, so they can all have their own. The thing about the card games is that they're popular to a minority, so we've not got anywhere it can truely be placed. OL should do, though.
