Being in the UK, Pokemon fizzled out about the same time the third movie did. I've hardly seen or heard anything about it since, aside from the Master Quest (4th) series being shown on SkyOne. I still quite like it, although I went through a brief period of intense dislike with it. I think it could carry on for a long time, if the franchise can be renewed a little. There are only so many Pokemon you can add to the PokeDex without it becoming like a game about stamp collecting. I think it's strategy element is good, but I'd like to see a game where you actually are the Pokemon and do the moves like a beat 'em up. The problem is, there are so many that you'd have a maximum of about two moves per Pokemon without having serious problems. And selecting which ones to include would be hard. There's always a way to renew a franchise if you look hard enough. I'm quite glad the Pokemon series has started to move away from the more formulaic structure of the first series in Master Quest, and they brought [strike]Ritchie[/strike] [strike]Richie[/strike] [strike]Richy[/strike] the green-dressed boy who looks like Ash with brown hair back (I prefer him to Ash, personally). Maybe they could start a Team Rocket series or something about a Gym Leader. Or have something more along the lines of the movies where they actually have a real, definite goal to accomplish. The card game's dead over here. Very dead, as far as I can see.

Scientifically, there might be a reason for the negative feelings. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) affects lots of people around the world with symptoms similar to constant jetlag. Okay, it might not be what's causing ameotional problems, but the cold (in some countries, I know it's summer in others) does affect your mood. It makes you want to go out less if it's wet and windy, and it's a lot harder to get up in the mornings when it's still dark, so you start off feeling tired and a little lethargic. All of this puts a bad start to the day, which will affect your viewpoint and outlook on things from the off. Not to mention that other people are feeling the same way, and when negative feelings collide, things happen which cause regrets. Also, the over-commercialisation of Christmas by a lot of stores puts pressure (as Ginny said) on people to buy cards and presents, almost to the point of giving up, which I almost have. I buy presents for my sisters and three closets friends, and I don't send cards very much. This can cause negative feelings. But, when Christmas comes, things all seem worthwhile... most of the time. The 'spirit' of Christmas is still there occasionally, but only to the extent of buying everyone else presents. I hardly see any more examples of 'good cheer' any more. I think that people who refuse this do themselves an injustice, as it does give a nice boost knowing you've made someone's life just that little bit happier.

"Teth!" Aidan shouted as a massive digimon stood before them. "What are you doing?" The digimon snarled at them viciously. "Out of the way, Aidan! I'm not going to let Daleth's followers survive to ruin the Digital World!" David looked to Guilmon, who was growling fiercely at the bio-merged digimon in front of him. "Teth! Don't kill him. What good do you think it'll do?" MetalArmadillomon shouted. "You won't stop Daleth by killing him or Guilmon!" The digimon glared at him. "I can free them from his dark influence. At least then he'll have less people to execute his power. Unless you get out of the way, you'll end up like that too." Aidan drew his sword. "Look, Teth, we're all trying to fight for the sake of the Digital World. We want to save it. Can't you see that?" The massive digimon cast a stern eye over Aidan. "Has he influenced you too? I should have known. MetalArmadillomon is a black Virus type, after all." "That has nothing to do with it. Just leave David alone," he shouted back. "Aidan, find Menaka. If you stay here, Teth will kill you. he's evil." "I'm not sure what to think any more." Aidan murmured. Kamimon pulled at Aidan's jacket. "Let's go. Menaka could be in danger too. I have to protect her." Guilmon stood next to David and growled at the large biomerged digimon. "We'll be fine. I'm ready to fight," he said bravely. From on top of a mountainside above them, they were being watched...

I hated Road Runner and Asterix for the SNES. I got them both second-hand at the same time and I didn't like them at all. Why oh why didn't I get Starwing? :bash: :bawl: The gameplay was terrible. On Road Runner there wasn't even a level select screen. And more or less all you had to do was run fast enough to leap over a gap and you were at the end. I never bothered trying to complete the last level. Asterix was way too easy. And it scared me with the level and character designs. Walk, punch, walk, punch, jump, punch, smack head in with contoller, walk, die. Not a very great game.

"But... how an you be sure which one of them's good? As far as I can see they're both as bad as each other. Daleth's obsessed with strengthening the Digital World and Teth wants to kill him. I'm not going to take sides until I know for sure who's good and who's bad." Aidan said, fiddling with the handle of his sword. David shrugged. "Fair enough." He looked at Kamimon, who was looking upset and worried. "Hey, what happened to Menaka?" Kamimon sighed sadly. "She ran away. She..." "We're trying to find her." MetalArmadillomon said quietly, wanting Kamimon to stop being upset. He'd always cared for other creatures and disliked any sort of distress. He didn't like having to fight, but the arrival of the dark power brought change. He knew he had to fight now. "I'm sorry to hear that." David looked back to Guilmon, who was paddling around in the water. "Found a way across yet?" he asked. "No." Guilmon said happily. "But the water's fun!" Aidan tried to hide a smile as David sighed in exasperation. "We're trying to get across to warn Daleth. Any ideas?" "Um... why not cut down a tree and walk across that?" Aidan offered, gesturing to MetalArmadillomon's spikes. "We don't want to attract too much attention. We've been in one battle already today, and who know's what's watching us."
-
"Do you know where she might have gone, Kamimon?" Aidan asked, resting himself on a ledge hinger up the cliff, trying to see over the trees. He'd brought a pair of binoculars with him and was busy scanning the landscape. "No... She could be anywhere, I guess. Try and look for a waterfall." "A waterfall?" MetalArmadillomon threw her a confused look. "Just a hunch... I know I'd try and find a waterfall if I was despresed. Running water's relaxing." Aidan cursed his grandfather's ancient binoculars. They were so dirty it was hard to see anything at all. Through a small gap in the trees, he saw a river. "If we follow that river upstream we might find one." he called to them, sliding down the edge of the cliff. "We have to be careful, though. All sorts of digimon come to the water to drink. You never know what could try and attack us." "Well, that's why you're here, isn't it?" Aidan smiled confidently at the steel digimon, who looked slightly surprised. Kamimon looked worried. "You don't have any dark symbols on you, do you?" she asked MetalArmadillomon. He shook his head. "No. I'm not evil. Aidan isn't either." "There are too many bad people around." Aidan muttered, remembering his cut head and bruised stomach. Cutting through the thick undergrowth with his sword, the three of them moved towards the river.

Rhike glared at Raze nervously and backed away slightly. Tyrius turned to Azrael with a stern expression. "Azrael, if your dragon so much as touches Rhike, I'll kill it. Understood?" he growled. Azrael gave him a dismissive look and nudged Raze, who snorted in frustration. "Fine. But it won't be my fault." he said, a slight laugh in his voice. "I have problems controlling him sometimes. He's not the most faithful of beasts." Tyrius looked to Artemis, who seemed keen to leave, as they were attracting a lot of attention from the citizens. "We need to find that crystal as soon as possible. Znid must have had back up forces around somewhere and it's only a matter of time before they find us here." he explained gravely, moving his sword to an easily accessible place. The rest of them agreed and started to leave, much to the interest of a black-hooded member of the crowd...

This sounds like good fun. :D Just one thing, though: Do we have more than one Pokemon each? Name: Tristan McCloud Age: 17 Height: 5'9" Weight: 125 Description/Personality: Tall, fairly slim, but muscular. Had long black spiky hair, some of which is tied into a pony tail at the back. Wears a red bandanna, black jacket and black jeans with a red T-Shirt. Bio: Despises his father, who willingly agreed to let humanity and Pokemon fall under Mewthre's power, he moved his gym away from from his home in Kanto to try and train Pokemon to stand up against Mewthre where he woulnd't be found. Generally happy and positive, but constantly living under Mewthre gets him down. First Pokemon: Stryke (Scyther)- Also has Sandslash, Jolteon, Dragonite and Charmeleon. Obsidian Lake Gym Leader *Looks down* Whoa! Lots of Gym Leaders. Methinks we need more trainers.

I disagree, if only because I haven't read or seen anything to do with the Expanded Universe. But mind you, all of the books and whatever of everything set before, after or during the original trilogy will have some errors and contradictions to the films and each other. George Lucas is really the only person who can say what goes, so technically we have to go by what the films say, as he is the creator and all. And I like Ewan McGregor. But like I've said, I've not seen anything to do with the EU, so if I'm wrong about anything don't rub it in. I'm ineducated.

The others looked at each other with concern and started off after Mena, Teth pushing David out of the way. Guilmon helped him up and watched the others leave. "What was that for?" Aidan asked, not sure whether Teth was really as good as he'd made out to be. "They were on Daleth's side. Didn't you see those tattoos?" "But... how do you know they're evil? They might just have been trick-" Teth grabbed his shoulder roughly. "I know evil. Those tattoos burn into and corrupt anything they touch. Don't tell me they were tricked." MetalArmadillomon pulled Teth from Aidan and gave him a fierce glare. "Evil or not, we have to work together. Let's find Menaka." After a few minutes of walking down the corridor, they saw a shape in the dim torchlight. Kamimon was sitting in the middle of the corridor, looking forlornly at the arm band. "Kamimon?" MetalArmadillomon asked. "Where's Menaka?" "Leave me alone. Please. It doesn't matter now." she said quietly. Aidan and Teth exchanged looks of concern. "What do you mean? What happened?" Aidan knelt down beside her and looked at the arm band. "It was Karasumon's... Menaka's arm band. It has the symbol of darkness on it." she croaked. Teth growled and flicked out his knife. Gesturing to Kotemon, he ran on ahead. "Come on, Aidan. We need to find Daleth and get rid of him. No-one else is going to help us." Aidan shook his head. "No. We can't leave Kamimon here." "What?" Teth whirled round in alarm. "Why?" "Even if, as you say, those with tattoos are evil, I don't believe it was out of choice that the others wear them. We can find them and get rid of their dark influences." He stood defiantly next to Kamimon, waiting for Teth to say something. Teth turned away into the darkness. "You're free to do what you like, Aidan. But don't expect me to help you free them. My only goal is to eliminate Daleth." With that, he disappeared. MetalArmadillomon helped Kamimon to her feet and the three of them followed Teth outside.

Anime Two pieces of exodia WARNING, MAY INCLUDE SPOILERS
Solo Tremaine replied to Tigervx's topic in Otaku Central
I can't remember anything happening to them again in the Duellist Kindom saga. We certainly haven't seen Exodia again as of Dungeon Dice Monsters Part IV. -
OOC: That'll teach me not to read posts properly. I thought it was a temple :bluesweat: --------------------------- By the time Aidan and MetalArmadillomon had arrived at the cliff, Teth and Kotemon had disappeared. A massive opening in the rock face stood before them. Deep inside, they heard sounds of battle. "Ready, MetalArmadillomon?" Aidan asked. "Do you think it's wise to get involved? They could be evil." "Evil people have to be fighting someone. And it's more than likely they'll be good." MetalArmadillomon looked thoughtful. "Okay, but let's go carefully. We don't want to get drawn into any unnecessary battles." Aidan agreed, and they both walked into the dark cave.

The Yugi and Kaiba decks are widely available more or less anywhere in the US. I can't see much point to this thread, so I'm going to close it. If you feel this is really important, it could be put into an existing thread about decks. -Solo

"You brought a sword?" MetalArmadillomon sounded offended. "Well... yeah. It made sense at the time. If I'm going off into a world of monsters, some of which only have the intent ot eating me alive I'll need something to protect myself with." Aidan replied, shoving it into his belt. "But... you knew I'd be here..." the digimon said, a hint of disappointment in his voice. "I didn't mean... Well..." "Don't you trust me?" Teth gave a glance to Kotemon and the two of them left for a cliff barely visible over the tree-tops. Aidan looked slightly hurt. "I do trust you. But what would happen if we were separated? I'd be left on my own and there'd be no-one here to protect me." "That's not the point." the digimon snapped. "I'd be there for you..." Aidan noticed Teth and Kotemon running over to the cliff. "Can we talk about this later? Teth's gone." They ran off after him.

You have to make sure you're talking to her from an 'I care about you' point of view, rather than a 'I think you should do this' point of view. It's a subtle difference, but it otherwise it can seem that you're trying to ored her into doing something that she doesn't seem to understand fully. If needs be, don't be afraid to tell her the full situation, even if she may know already. Other than that. there isn't much you can do. I know someone who had prostate cancer for ages, and knew about it, but never saw the doctor about it. It was only when he collapsed in the street and was taken to A+E (ER) that he decided to have something done. It's silly, as he could have spent that much more time healing, but it's almost a denial of wanting to accept there's a problem. I know it's what you have been doing, but keep trying to convince her to keep eating iron. I hope things work out soon for you.

I managed to do it correctly this time. I actually read Flash's instructions. I know who I want to win.

Does anyone know anything about the potential releases for these two films in the West? I know the fourth movie, Celebi: A Timeless Encounter has long been released in Japan, and there was something said about it being released in the US sometime in July, but nothing came of it. I have the soundtrack and for a brief period managed to see the japanese trailer, but then it all but disappeared. I think it looks really good, from what I've seen. Especially as Syther's more than just in the background in this one :p. Any news on DVD releases or anything? Also, I was wondering if anyone had any information on the fifth movie. I know it stars about 100-odd new Pokemon, including three special birdy-type things (I think). News on plot/new monsters?

MetalArmadillomon's spines sliced through low branches as he and Aidan wandered through a mass of undergrowth. "Are you sure this is the right way?" Aidan asked. "I'm sure of it. I think..." MetalArmadillomon looked into the distance. Aidan sat down on a tree trunk and began to think. Who was that man they met earlier? Did he really want to help the Digital World? He didn't think so, but there was something about him... It didn't matter. But why did he say that MetalArmadillomon should know better than anyone what darkness does to people? He was just about to open his mouth to say something when he heard the bushes rustle from behind him. He pulled a long straight package from the side of his backpack and opened it. It was a short sword that his father had given to him to keep on the wall. He'd always wanted to use it, and thought it might come in handy. MetalArmadillomon's spines rose threateningly. "Who's there?" Aidan said loudly, more bravely than he felt. A boy stepped out from the bushes holding a knife. "Do you know of Daleth Danaku?" he said. Aidan snarled. "Yeah, we met him. Who wants to know?" "My name's Teth. I've been trying to stop him." Aidan lowered the sword. "From what?" "He's trying to take over the Digital World." Teth said. A small digimon, Kotemon, emerged from behind MetalArmadillomon. MetalArmadillomon waved to him happily. "Then we're on your side." Aidan said, holding out his hand for Teth to shake. "It's nice to finally find someone here. Where are the others?"

OOC: That makes it just me and Kairi, then, doesn't it? Methinks this may have to be on hold for a little.

Anime Yugioh Card Question ??Confused??
Solo Tremaine replied to Blue Heaven's topic in Otaku Central
No, that means it's a fake. All official cards should have a little holographic logo in the bottom corner. If it doesn't then it's a fake. www.yugiohkingofgames.com has a guide of what to look for. In future, any card questions should go in the Yu-Gi-Oh CARD Advice Thread, which people seem to have forgotten about. -Solo -
Well, just because Yugi (not Yami himself by choice- he just happens to be in the puzzle that Yugi has) hangs out with Tea, doesn't mean he has any intention to marry her, or that he even loves her. So I don't think so. It's possible, if anything, that he had friends who looked like Joey, Tea and Tristan and had an enemy in someone who looked like Kaiba, but I don't think they'd be married.

Aidan helped MetalArmadillomon clamber over a large rock and surveryed the immediate area. They were surrounded by large slate-coloured boulders. "So this is the Digital World... I didn't realise it'd be so real." "It's always been real to us." MetalArmadillomon jumped onto another rock next to them. "Yeah, but I've not been here before. I've only heard about it. It's difficult to imagine somewhere as being real if you've never been there." Aidan explained, pulling a drink of water from his bag and taking a swig. Wiping his mouth, he gave a questioning look to the digimon. "Where are we going to meet the others?" "Wherever we find them," the steel digimon replied. "Which could be anywhere."

I think whether something's classed as anime will depend on the studio, the writers and directors. If the studio can make it look like anime, if it follows/looks/sounds like an anime then there's no reason why it shouldn't be called one, regardless of who it's made by. I didn't mean to say that I think Japanese influences in Western animation is wrong, but often it just looks like a rip-off (to me), so I don't tend to like it. It's just my personal opinion, but I don't like the Powerpuff Girls or Totally Spies because the anime-stylisation of it doesn't look very good, and I just prefer the more detailed stuff. Shin Chan isn't one of my favourites. In fact, I think anime influences in Western animation could be very good, but sometimes it's hard to tell which has influenced the other. The Lupin III anime films look a lot like Inspector Gadget, for example, although which was made first I'm not sure. Anime has already begun to creep into Disney films (Mulan, Atlantis, Treasure Planet). If it's done well, then I like it.
