Ok... lol... this is weird because of my various "hiatuses*... lol. But I've been here 7 years this July. That kind of surprised me to be completely honest. I hadn't realized that it was that long ago since I joined. I was never really one of the "big names" here, and only a few people really talked to me regularly and participated with me in threads (namely in the Art Studio). Then, the untimely death of Mr. Computer # 1 disrupted my activity here (and everywhere else) for a few months. Since then I never really got back into the groove of returning here regularly. I mean, I'd visit once or twice a week, then it'd be like a couple/few weeks before I'd be back. The longest between visits was a couple months there. This last time.. I don't remember how long it's been. lol
Nomad - Can you say world's largest banner thread? And a lot of late nights playing RuneScape /slit wrist.
Some reason this post greatly surprised me lmao. Those were some very fun times on Runescape, I even get on occasionally to just mess around, then I realize that I have better games to play and more eventful things to do and log out after like 10 minutes, lol. I know I remember Stuart and Boo. And of course all the mods and the like around the time I adventured through these boards. The thing I remember being really "neat-o" when I was still around was the introduction of myOtaku. Don't know why that one really sticks out in my memory, but it does. lol. Oh, and of course the introduction of the Avatar/ Avatar & Banner "donation" threads in the Art Studio. And I also remember the board hijacking. That was a crazy thing to experience. Just really confusing to one day sign in and have everything been weird and off kilter. Hopefully I can find a groove I can fall into now and visit somewhat regularly again. The only thing is that I really haven't been into Anime and the like really hardcore like I used to be. Just so much to do and so little time to do it. But, here's wishful thinking! Needless to say, I've missed you, OB.

Currently I'm switching back and forth between Guitar Hero: Metallica, Final Fantasy XI and World of Warcraft. Both Metallica and FFXI are on the 360. I've always been a Guitar Hero/Rock Band nut and a lover of music so the new release was a must have for me. I love the game but there really isn't much to do after you beat all of the careers and whatnot. FFXI is fun, but I don't have anyone to play it with so I'm rather bored with it sometimes. Then again, there are times when I feel courageous enough to go out adventuring alone, just to get owned by something far more powerful than myself lol. And WoW. Wow, lol. I play free servers a while back (something like 8 months ago) and I loved it. I just recently decided to join back into it and have begun new characters throughout the world of "actual" WoW. :D
Anyone who doesn't wear a seatbelt is a dumbass.
Thanks for the insult anyway, kid. I didn't have my belt on because I was in a hurry to get to class and we had just jumped on the highway. No excuse other than being absent minded.
Only 50 cents for speeding? That's whacked, if you ask me. A girl I know was speeding and she practically had her license taken from her (I forget what happened. They kept postponing the court date until before she left for college in Washington so that it wouldn't matter she couldn't drive...) I always wear my seatbelt - it's like an automatic thing for me. And anyone who's not 18 in my car... I make sure they wear it, too (or I'm responsible for the ticket). Love the peeps, btw.
It was only 50 cents because the officer let him off somewhat because he knew we were heading to class and we were trying not to be late. Oh and the fact that he had a couple of outstanding speeding tickets as well as another seat belt ticket from before. Had the officer not let him off easy, he would have taken him to jail and had the car towed, but he didn't. So I guess the 50 cents + $250 for outstanding tickets wasn't so bad. lol. I usually always wear my belt. Whether I'm with my parents or any of my friends. 98% of the time I'm one of the first ones to put it on whenever we enter the car. Rare occasions, however, have risen where I didn't put it on anywhere from 10-15 minutes, but eventually I do put it on. An yes, peeps are awesome. :D There's never a time when they aren't in season. lol.

Hmm, actually, in about 5 or 6 hours or so I'm going to be heading downtown to pay off a ticket that I had gotten. It's due by Saturday, so I have to do it today (procrastination...) My friend and I were driving to school (I was the passenger) and we got pulled over on the highway for speeding. We were doing about 70 or so. He has a few unpaid tickets... *cough* a few... yeah. Anyway, neither of us were wearing seat belts (always wear your safety belts kids ;)) so we both got tickets. He got 50 cents for speeding, $25 for no seat belt and $250 for unpaid tickets. I got $25 for a seat belt. Cell phone doesn't seem too bad to me. I'd tell my mom if I were you, but that's just my opinion. She shouldn't be too freaked, really. Not too sure about the insurance company though (no car = no insurance.) But tickets do suck...

:animesmil I decided to through this together quickly for you. The font isn't really "creepy", with the exception of the word "alive" in the foreground and background. I can change anything if you'd like.

GHII was awesome. A new type of game (at least for me on the 360 because I never had the chance to play GH on the PS) that actually included music that I found amusing. It was fun all the way through. GHIII was all right, I guess. Somewhat the same as the last, but with different music, which I thoroughly enjoyed. A few changes and added bonuses made this game more fun. It was great until the POS controller that came with it had to break; rather malfunction. RB is the best. I love playing the drums. I love singing. As always, I love playing the guitar/bass. What's even better is that I get to do one of those things with three of my other friends, so there's not really a chance for many people to be left out of the fun. I know I'm not learning real instrument playing, but I don't care, I like it because it is fun. I find that having an entire "band" together and actually playing songs you grew up with (we're all around the 20/21 age range) is a lot more fun than only have two guitars and sitting idle while you await your turn to play the same songs over and over again. The DLC makes it even more diverse. There's something for everyone, just about. Heh, my 2 cents. :)

Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory REVILE/The Barfight (a local band) - (various demos) Crossfade - Crossfade Rammstein - Herzeleid, Sehnsucht, Mutter, Reise, Reise, Rosenrot, Live Aus Berlin By far the most album that has been the most listened to would have to by Hybrid Theory. I can listen to that CD from start to finish without skipping through the CD. It's the best album they've made, everything just got slightly worse with each of their releases after that. Sad really. The Rammstein albums have all been thoroughly listened through countless times. There's never an occasion which doesn't fit a Rammstein song. :animesmil
Soooo.. it's like, you hear people complaining, but just aren't listening to them? Just wanted to touch upon another quirk I had with the game.. is the aim speed sensitivity.. even on high, it's still too slow. This is just a minor irritation, rather then a real problem. It just needed to have a 'even higher' setting or something.. on a scale of 1-10, 'High' seemed about a 7, and I play games on a 9 or 10 level... Hope that made sense... lol.
Made perfect sense, at least to me, being the avid Halo player I am. It seemed too slow, as you've said, but I quickly got over it because it's not like you really need to be doing 360s while running past enemies in this game, that'll just get you killed ;) . On Halo I play from 8-10, depending on how long it's been since I've played. That's relatively fast for those who don't play Halo.
Anyway, i got a question for the atheist in here. i know some of you really dont care about "In God We Trust" and "Under God" but what about living in cities with references from christianity. Like say Los Angeles which means the the Angels. Do you care about that you would live in a city thats against your beliefs (cause if there is no God then there shouldnt be a devil or angels or other jibber jabber like that.)[/SIZE']
I doesn't really bother me about the cities names either, then again, I live in Indiana, if you don't get the reference to myself then just think about it. Anyways, I wouldn't care if I lived in a city called Squigglyspooge, because it is just a city, I didn't invent the name, and just because I live in a city named something related to religion, doesn't necessarily mean they're enforcing a law saying that you must abide by that religion or whatever. Hell, the American Indians believe in deities, rather strongly, but even being of that heritage, I still denounce a deity. Just because a city is named after angels, doesn't mean that it's saying, "Boo! God's real, you're damned and you should believe in god, because if you don't, you're an idiot." It just shows where the minds of the founders were at whenever they created the names.

I'm Atheist. Just to start this post off with telling you that. I haven't said the Pledge of Allegiance in over 7 years because of the phrase "One Nation Under god". And I highly dislike the phrase "In god We Trust" on our money. I would like to see it removed, but if it doesn't, I'm not too worried about it, because I know where I stand, religiously. But what if it said, "In Alla We Trust" or "In Buddha We Trust"? Then what would be the Christian's point of view? They'd want that gone too. No matter what deity you label this phrase as, it will have someone disliking it and wanting it removed. That's just how it is. I'm not saying that everyone should go with this and remove it from our lives, if it never gets removed, I'm fine with that. If it does, then I'm even happier. I'm not basing months of my life after it. I do, however, wholly support the separation of church and state, but the government hasn't done everything it can to separate it. As a prime example, "One Nation Under god" and "In god We Trust". What I'm saying is, as atheists, we aren't trying to be so just to be different (however there are those kids who think it's "cool" to be "different"), we are doing so because we genuinely believe in something, as do the Christians, Muslims, etc, etc. Most of us, I said most of us are civilized people and are doing what any other "religion" would do, remove a sign of the others' beliefs. We don't need those phrases to be rid of, but it'd help to recognize us as an equal to the religious group of people in the country. That's what America is about. Treating people equally and fairly. To truly understand why an Atheist does something about a religious matter, take a look from our side. Seriously. Doubt your faith for even 2 minutes, and look at a situation in which we're fighting against. If you flip the roles around, and tweak the circumstances, you too would be fighting or trying to change something that goes against your beliefs. I'm done with that. Sorry for the long post. I don't think this guy will get anything done the way he's going about it. Then again, I don't think anyone will get anything done about those phrases because, unfortunately, they are a part of America's history, and therefore is preserved as they should be. "In god We Trust" will never be removed is what I believe. Oh and one more thing.
Although yes this country was founded by Christians who ran away from Europe. They still welcomed anyone of any religion in their country.[/SIZE']
Does "welcomed anyone of any religion in their country" refer to after they slaughtered countless American Indians? Sorry, my father is American Indian, as is his entire side of the family, and I haven't seen one historical record of the European Christians coming here and welcoming the America Indians with open arms, so to speak. Sorry.
I still love Mad World by Gary Jules from the Donnie Darko soundtrack. It's been my favorite song for a while...i don't know how much longer it'll last. It's a great song. [/FONT']
That's exactly the song I'm addicted to at the moment. I heard it first on the Donnie Darko soundtrack, but it made a comeback to me when I heard it on the Gears of War trailer. It's an awesome song and always will be. I'm not to into the original song, however, too upbeat for me. :D

Lol. The GoW AI characters do have a bit of glitching in the campaign/co-op. I have the problem of running ahead whilst Cole stays behind still behind cover at some door or something, which makes me have to go back and shoot at him in order to have him move with me. Well, where to start? I guess I'll start with the graphics. This has some of the most amazing graphics I've seen in a while from a console game. Everything from the textures on the walls, ceilings, floors and other various surfaces as well as the characters themselves look absolutely wonderful. Then there's the blood. Oh the glorious blood splatting onto the camera as you chainsaw some unknowing player in a multiplayer match. The campaign is designed for single player action, as per the norm, but it was also designed with the distinct intention of the integration of the co-op system. It's designed so you will be able to play the campaign single player and then have someone come in during any time and play co-op (as Marcus [1st player] and Dom [2nd player]), and vice-versa. There are moments in the campaign where having another player controlled character flank an enemy turret is extremely useful as you draw its attention. The multiplayer is where it is at however, in my view. It's only 4 versus 4 action on small maps, but that's more than enough to be a hell of a time. Two alternating spawn points and basically just massacre about the level until there is no one left. Good stuff. This is where a lot of the fun is at. It's hard to explain the MP so the advice I have for you is to just buy/rent the game and experience it for yourself. The campaign lacks extremely in the story development. The basic story that is to prelude the game (in order for you to have any knowledge of what's happening and why such characters are in such situations) is the the Locust horde had invaded Sera. Marcus Fenix is a soldier in a group called The Coalition of Governments (COG).
The COG has taken it upon themselves to rid the earth of the Locust and therefore enforce martial law and try to escape all survivors to Jacinto Plateau, their last safe area (because of an extra thick ground, the Locust can't break through it yet), and they proceed to laser target the rest of Sera with satellite lasers to rid themselves of the infestation. The Locusts still survived, however, underground. Marcus Fenix is in jail because he disobeyed orders by the COG and instead went to aid his father who had put out a distress call and upon failing to save him is charged with dereliction of order and imprisoned for some number of years. The Locust proved to be too much for the COG and they pardoned all prisoners in the jails at Jacinto Plateau to use their prisoners as extra soldiers to combat the Locust.
This is where the campaign kicks in. The above IS NOT explained in the campaign, and nothing else is really explained about what you are really doing or why you are doing it. One way I've seen it put that I totally agree with is "You experience the feeling of doing something really cool... but you don't know why you did it." Besides lacking the underlying story, the campaign is relatively fun to play, especially co-op. Me and my friend especially had fun during the first encounter with the Kryll (if you've played the game, you know what I mean). Just do a bit of research on the net (*cough*wikipedia*cough*) to get the jist of the story and the like. Overall this game is well worth purchasing and well worth the time and effort to convert from Halo, Halo 2 or any other FPS. The controls are rather easy to transfer to, especially once you're in the heat of a battle between four of your men and about 20 Locust. :D Awesome game. I added spoiler tags just to be safe. What you've typed sounds more like an introduction to me, but seeing as you said that none of it is mentioned in the game, I'm taking the approach that it's for the player to figure out someway or somehow. -- Bombu -Thanks, didn't know if I should have added them myself or not.
I was a fanatical follower of TMNT back in the 90s. However I, like many others, have grown up quite a bit, and that zealous fanbase is no more. TMNT's fanbase has degraded to apathetic children who casually watch it on Saturday mornings, and change channels halfway through to catch the rest of the 9th version of Pokemon. I think it'll have alot of people going to see it out of nostalgia (myself included), which is where I expect to see most of the films money being made.
I think what you'll see at the theaters is this; Those people who are around 18+ age range who will be seeing it as they have grown up with the turtles (the good ones) and those very few who are younger than that who had access to the older TMNT before they saw the newer ones. Then you'll have those kids who will be expecting to see dinosaurs and all this stuff, and when they hear talk about Bebop and Rocksteady, in any way shape or form, they'll not have the slightest idea what is being talked about (or anything from the older TMNT, I just used them because I found them wacky, lol). However, this is just a broad generalization to it all, there will be some who bypass these ideas all together and who will be seeing the Turtles for the first time. We'll just have to wait and see how things will turn out, yeah?
-
What's this? A new TMNT movie? My first thought is "All right, I love the Turtles, I can't wait for the new movie".... I don't mind the CG, I mean, in some cases, the CG people have failed horribly in doing their job, and it looks a bit too unrealistic, even for a movie (i.e; the Final Fantasy movie). But this looks great. I loved the live-action turtles, but this gives you a feel of the older cartoon mixed with newer technology. I'm a product of the old Turtles. The good show. Not this dinosaur crap, and this female turtle stuff they had a while back. I mean it's all good and well to try and revive a classic, and might I say, one of the best, old cartoons, but to make foolish moves like space travel with dinosaurs and the like is rediculous (although, the original cartoon did have multidemensional devices and whatnot, but that was ok, lmao). I was hoping to see maybe Shredder with his two henchmen Bebop and Rocksteady (not that snapping turtle and wolf), and to have April and all the gang back, but seeing the possible plot outlines given above, I'm sad and happy about the plot. They're brining in a new plot which may be able to fill a movie, and a couple possible sequeals and maybe even a series about it, but I have my doubts about the makers doing it correctly (with the Turtles' history and the like). I'm excited to see Casey Jones brought into the story line too, that's a big plus because I've always loved that character, especially in the live-action movies. But well have to wait and see how well they do next year, and you bet I'll be in line to see that on the date of it's release. ...my final thoughts on it are "All right, I love the Turtles, I can't wait for the new movie".... :animesmil

The banners are so-so, as in, simple, yet colourful and a bit eye catching. I'm drawn more to your work on DeviantART. It's beautiful! I especially love the .lotus piece. I don't know anything I could contribute concerning C&C with those pieces, but with the banners, try to find a more focal point, meaning, although there are renders and stock included in the images, there's nothing that makes them really stand out like you'd want them to. Am I making sense? Probably not, but oh well. All I have to say is good work. :animeswea
-
I don't know if you've decided on a banner or not yet, but I've made a few (well, many) banners. Some have slight adjustments (like colour changes) just to show variety in the type of style I used. I used the same writing stock in every one of these, but I have more, this one is just the one that seemed to work the best with the filters and colours. Let me know what you think, and if you'd like me to work on making them different in any way (colour, placement, text, etc.).

How did you come up with your internet/screen name ?
Nomad replied to corpseman's topic in General Discussion
Wow, I leave for about a year (or rather it feels like), then come back; then I disappear for another 3 months and I come back and things hardly ever change here. There is always a new name thread. :p Not saying anything bad about it. Just stating what I've seen. Anyways, I've done this every thread I saw, and I'll do it now. Nomad: When I first came to OB, I wondered what I should make my account name as, and I had been listening to Metallica a moment before and decided on Nomad, but I didn't want just that, so I wondered some more... then I came up with NomadWondering, lol, but some took it as NomadWandering and assumed it was a spelling mistake, although it wasn't, :p . Then eventually, James and the others opened up name changing and I changed it to simply Nomad, and I've had it ever since. After I left OB for an extended hiatus, I became infatuated with Halo and Halo 2. Me and my friends began to give each other names of characters from Halo: CE, and we used them while playing 16-person LANs of Halo 1. Some of the names were Mendoza, Yayap, and my name, Jenkins. It stuck. So I continued to go under that name, until Halo 2 came out. Then I continued on with that. lol. So I've created account with suggestions to Halo and Jenkins. I've been Jenkins for a while now, and it's stuck. Previously, while still visiting OB, I continued to use Nomad, or slight variations of it, constantly on different forums I tended to visit occasionally. So yea, that's my story. lmao. -
Wikipedia is an awesome site. But, as mention previously, the accuracy and chances that something on there is right, can come and go. There are times when it's dead on and tells you things you'd never know on the subject of something; then there are the times when it says the earth is rectangle. lol. Just an example. I've used Wikipedia to look up things that I didn't know what they were, like in the movie A Clockwork Orange, the characters use a type of made up language, and I found some "loose translations" on Wikipedia that I am pleased with. That's just one example. I love it. Lol.
-
Very good. I could maybe see this happening later on down the road as some plot takes a different turn or whatever, but doesn't look that way at the moment, yea? It is very well done. I like just about everything. It'd love to see this in colour, and I think done correctly, the coloured one would make an excellent piece. As Retri said, the hair does look a bit overshaded, but that's all I can see that I dislike in this picture. Very well done once again. :animesmil
If I were to say another it would be Tears of the Tiger[/B'] This is kind of an interesting tale, that is best understood when read. I'd really rather not say to much about it here.
This is an excellent book. I've forgotten about it up until you mentioned it. I love this book. I read it in school my 7th grade year. I really enjoyed it. Another book to add to reading this one (after you've read this one) is Forged by Fire, which intwines Gerald from Tears and other characters. Both excellent books that aren't hard to read at all, if you've got the time, check them both out.
-
Heh we're all just kind of taking blind stabs at this because, well, as Retri stated, we don't know your reading level, so and he did, I'll go ahead and assume that your reading range is somewhere within mine. A really great book I really enjoyed, and have read multiple times already, is called Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers, who is no stranger to writing good books, and I'm sure you've probably seen this book before. It's especially good if you're into that whole, war-time story genre. It's about this kid Perry who gets put into Vietnam and then everything continues to add up and...yea, great book. I also recommend and of the books in the Hitchhiker's Guide series as an entertaining read, if you like the way Adams writes. He's got humour and science fiction and all the good things a book needs. More humourous than not though. One more book then I'll go. Truth by Simon Blackburn. It is a much higher level book on philosophy and whatnot. To put it the easiest way possible, very big words, and a lot of them. lol. If your interested in that though, check it out. I am currently reading it and am enjoying it thoroughly. :animesmil

Well, now that I think about it, the only songs I can think of are the ones about love and whatnot. :animeswea Call me a sap or whatever, but there are many other songs out there that relate to me, but we'll get to those later. At the moment, these are the two that come to mind; Stevie Ray Vaughan, Texas Flood - Love Struck Baby [lyrics] [download] Stevie Ray Vaguahn, Texas Flood - Pride and Joy [lyrics] [download] They both relate to how I feel about my girlfriend. I know I know, there old songs, and they are blues songs, and they do deal with love and your woman, but so what? This is a song that I relate to whenever I remember back before I was with my girlfriend, before we were together. Back when we were just friends and everything. James Blunt, Back to Bedlam - You're Beautiful [lyrics] [download] This is when I thought I could never have her and all that other stuff. I'll edit later with different songs, that probably won't relate to what relates to these right here.
