The only reason I am quoting Golgo 13 as superior, is because it has a great storyline, it's not too farfetch'd, yet not too realistic. I really enjoyed every single moment of Golgo 13, especially the "one day only" shot between two buildings, heheh, those goons would have never expected it...... The part where the whole story takes a big twist at the end develops a sense of a more confusing attitude, ie- the part where you find out why Robert was shot down by Golgo 13, it is all part of a scheme to get the viewer more into the story. Golgo 13 (aka Duke) receives a mission briefing in person while "making love" to a woman, I guess that this helps viewers notice what kind of man he is at the beginning. Semjaza....what was the game like? I never got the chance to play it, maybe because i wasn't so much of an anime fan back then. Was it as good as the movie? I'm intrigued, please tell me! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ By the way, I've noticed some spoilers in this thread, so I'm going to mark the thread's title with a Spoilers tag. :)

I'm with um....everyone on ths one....that is definately way too small to be the Buster sword. Sure it's a great replica, but I only accept the real deal, take my dad's sarison for example, it's blunt, but the blade isn't the swords only weapon.

When Capcom decided that Nintendo would be the exclusive new home for the Resident Evil series, the company also revealed that the series prequels are coming along nicely. This comes as great news to Nintendo, seeing as how Capcom's first survival horror is relatively that successful. Resident Evil 0 shares the same good looks and visual flair as its previous successor. Asides from similar graphics, this RE adventure boasts crucial differences over its gory cousin, most notably, the option that allows you to swap between two characters during play. With the first available character being S.T.A.R.S Bravo team member Rebeca Chambers, and the second being a brand new asset to the series, Billy Cohen. The ability to swap between heroes will open up new ways to play, as each character has strengths and weaknesses which players must exploit to progress further on the game. One new feature to the Resident Evil series, which is introduced in Resident Evil 0, is the ability to drop your weapons and items. Most surprisingly, you are able to re-trace your steps and pick up your dropped equipment at the same place. It will be great to see just how successful Resident Evil 0 will be without the famous "treasure" chests. My final point, are Capcom overdoing it? and are they losing their sense of originality? planning to release many survival horrors of the kind. It is all just a question of what the future will hold for Capcom and Nintendo.

I just recently purchased a copy of Golgo 13 on DVD, and I was very impressed. The character animation is amazing, it's exposed in a very trendy manner, where it represents both style and action. The amount of detail is by far the most impressing thing about this movie, the way every single weapon has its indents and safety triggers. It was not only the characters, the fact that the vehicle models were taken from existing companies increased the very positive attitude of Golgo 13's nature. There are many occasions where the "morale" dies down to a certain extent, from a high kicking battle scene to one slow business meeting. None the less, it can be very effective if used appropriately. Sadly, Golgo 13 does suffer a predictable fate, if you know what I mean. There are certain scenes which have no feeling of suspense at all, where you can tell what is going to happen. I rate this anime mainly for its exceptional acting, it is by far superior to any other anime movie. There are very uncalled for situations in Golgo 13, for example, getting a mission briefing whilst making out with a woman. Anyway, what did you think of this movie, good or bad? and what exactly did you like/dislike about it?

My favourite animes always turn out to be the least popular ones, oh well.... here's a taste for ya. My Neighborough Totoro Princess Monoke Dominion Tank Police Venus Wars Yes siree, those are the best animes known to me, I recommend "My Neighborough Totoro", it's really cute and funny.

This blood sucking movie is in a genre of its own, the atmosphere and style that is created from Hellsing seems rather original and plotted in a good direction. Anime such as Trigun and Vampire Hunter D can be used to best describe the overall feel of the series. Though it is rather difficult to compare such a movie to others, it would be in its own league. Hellsing is a gruesome and bloody tale that contains scenes of horror and thrills. At the same instance, Hellsing offers action and adventure. However, this anime produces something relatively different, and is certainly not the same as, or based on, Vampire Hunter D. My favourite character would have to be Alucard, the main character. Did anyone notice that Alucard is actually "Dracula" spelt backwards? He is introduced in a more dominating way than any other character, which gives viewers the impression of a strong and fierce character. It leaves us in shrouded in mystery of who exactly Alucard is? why he is a member of the Hellsing as a vampire himself? It seems to me as a very effective scam. His gun is really cool, I thought it displayed his character a lot, and with the capabilities of it. He is pretty much alike Devil May Cry's hero Dante, the weapons and attire.

It is quite unfair to judge something negatively just because its previous derivatives weren't that successful. It may turn out to be good or bad, it is really a question of facilities. Many anime movies which have been interpreted into live action movies have been poor, but seeing as how most of them were made in Japan, who do have rather poor facilities and equipment. If you compare any top Hollywood movie to the likes of these Japanese movies, you'll see a big difference in quality. It's not only in animes where you see attempted live action movie interpretations, many games companies have tried to produce something successful and brilliant, for example, look at the street fighter movie (the live action one, not the anime one :) ), it was very poor, there were cheap effects and bad acting, even for a Hollywood movie. There was also an attempt to make a Parasite Eve movie, it was low-budget, but was definately one of Japan's higher rated movies. The Akira live action movie seems to be old news now, but surprises could be lurking just around the corner. ;)

You're asking me a lot there man, lol. My list of games which will be mine in the future...*takes a deep breathe*....ahem..... I have been most eagerly awaiting the release of Super Mario Sunshine, although Luigi's Mansion didn't impress me too much, I still have faith in the Mario brothers. Next up is the usual, Super Metroid Prime, Star Fox, both Legend of Zelda titles, etc. :toothy: Seeing as how Perfect Dark 2 is going to be making its way to the Gamecube, I see this as an opportunity to relive my FPS experience with smoother graphics and sharper sound. I must get Resident Evil, probably the only reason that I have a Gamecube is for that game. Unlucky for me, it's not out in the UK yet. Resident Evil 0 should be a huge asset to my collection of survival horros. :) Lastly, Soul Calibur 2, although this will be getting a PS2 release, I may need to skip it when it comes down to Nintendo. I just can't figure out how a first class beat 'em up will work on that pad..... The future is looking bright for Nintendo, maybe new releases will be announced, who knows.

Anime What are some of your favorite anime songs?
Sensei-San replied to Utena_Tenjou's topic in Otaku Central
Yeah, I'm pretty much like Mist, unless it strikes me real hard, I will go for it. :) My top songs/themes would have to be Cruel Angel Thesis from Evangelion, it suits the intro sequence really well. The words have a great correlation with the series too, they match Shinji's personality in my opinion. Second is Zanarkand Ruins from Final Fantasy X, it is a very calm piece of music, one of the best I have seen from any of the FF series. Thirdly, the Zanarkand theme. It is one of the best piano pieces I have heard up to this day, it's a very simple part, and has a nice, catchy tune. I'm hoping to one day learn it for myself. -
Gaming A game you've never been able to beat.....
Sensei-San replied to Krillen's topic in Noosphere
Man, it's kind of hard to think in a situation like this....after all, I've played so many games in my life. But....if it must to be something, it would be Bubbleman from "Megaman: Doctor Wily's Revenge". The worst part was the fact that you had to beat four others just like him in order to access Dr. Wily himself. -
Originally posted by Def_Kun It's not really as philosophical as Evangelion but it is kinda mature compared to the series (less humor more action).
That's true Def_Kun. Evangelion had a humorous side as well as "all politics and paperworks", teke Misoto for example, her upbeat attitude always cheered me up in dramatic scenes. There was also Todah and Suzehara (Sp?), their whole "Misoto is a total babe" gag really left me in tears of joy. It was wrong to compare Nadesico to Evangelion, I guess it's more on the Patlabor side, where it's all talk, talk, talk, lol.

I've only seen and own a few Dragonball/ Z movies, so I can only be that helpful. Here are the running times for them. Some of my movies are dodgy, so I don't know the exact names, I'll just state them as the number. Sleeping Princess: 42 mins Movie 1: 45 mins Movie 3: 43 mins Movie 4: 1:17 Cooler's Revenge: 1:30 PiroMunkie got the rest of them, so I won't retrack it, lol. Please note that these movie trackings don't include the credits and opening themes.

Sephiroth is right. You will only see Mr.Satan in the uncut episodes of DBZ. Which is why you will see him addressed as Mr.Satan in various websites and so.

Queen Asuka has made a valid point, some Dragonball nuts think anime is all about it. Then again, Otaku means "Hardcore Fan", and in a sense, you can be a fan of virtually anything, whether it is a fan of a pop star, or a fan of a sports. It's ok to be a DB Otaku, but turning anime into something that it partially is, is incorrect. I like the Dragonball series, it is truly original, and has a great plot, counting that it was made a very long time ago. The DBZ "craze" is just something that will come and go. The main reason that it is so popular here is because it has just been introduced here. Lastly, one thing which must be made clear, Dragonball Z is not a cartoon, it is an anime series! This adds to the factors of its success, many children take it as a cartoon series, making it that much more successful since children tend to like animations much more.

I was extremely impressed by Nadesico: The Prince of Darkness. i found it a lot more convincing than the episodes. It's true that if you haven't seen any of the episodes, you will be left in the dark, totally clueless of what's going on. It could be compared to the Evangelion series, the two are very alike. I'd say that this series counts on the more mature side of anime. In my opinion, the animation was very intriguing, it came obvious to me that the "low ratings" for animation came from the character designs, they were very typical. Another very dissapointing thing about the animation is the fact that all character faces look the same, although it isn't fair to judge the animation in this manner, it is just my opinion.

Anime blood reign curse of the undead yoma

Yeah, I have to say, this is one of the coolest and most funniest anime shows I have ever seen, lol. I remember the preview for "Fake", it was quite hilarious, It caught my attention by having a strange story line that seemed pretty childish to me, which is probably what lured me into seeing this movie. The animation is sharp and the character designs are great. Those that have seen the trailer may not realize that this is a comedy, but I can tell you that the cool characters and funny situations are damn hilarious Fake is the first Gay Anime show, so don't let that put you off, it's more of a comedy than sexual film in my opinion, definately one to watch. :)

Anime blood reign curse of the undead yoma
Sensei-San replied to vegeta rocker's topic in Otaku Central
The mutations of living beings seem rather far fetche'd to me, especially if one of them is a tree, wondering around the land searching for human flesh and blood to fill their fiendish appetites. Obviously the filmmakers could've been more creative than that, it has become too common to notice anything like that in any horror flick. This is truly a movie which requires thought and consideration to understand. I liked it to its own certain extent. -
What does your sig/avator/user name mean?
Sensei-San replied to Utena_Tenjou's topic in General Discussion
Hehe, my name is Sensei-San. I got from school, everyone used to call me Sensei because I had an infinite knowledge about gaming. The San is just what people address eachother by out of respect....so um...yeah....Sensei-San! Well, my banner is a "Mario" one obviously. He is my favourite character of all time in any game (except SSMBM, I rule with Kirby! :D). Oh, and by the way....JAMES NEVER MADE IT!!! Those quotes are just from The Simpsons, it's only the greatest show on Earth. Avatar is soon to come folks......:D -
GhostofSalvtore, it is against the rules to double post. If you need to add something to your current post, just edit it, and state that you have, there is no need to make another. In regard to the question, it was Super Bomberman that got me hooked for life. I don't know whether it was the game or the music, lol. Hey Spyder, Capcom vs SNK is already out on the PS2, though I'm not too sure about the Gamecube version.
Originally posted by genkai_yyh er.....i just read a review of it in "Animerica"(yeah, so what if i read animerica?:P), and the reviewers weren't very positive, but it seemed like the art was great, though the general jist was that the animation was jerky, and that the plot was week...i read the storyline, i think it sounds great! who cares what they think?:)
The plot is very well thought out actually, it is not totally original, but the amount of detail and accuracy put into it conserve its positive properties. The animation seems perfectly fine. Detail is a very important factor though, as it can ruin the environment of the scene, which is why it is very crucial to get every single movement correct, to get the wind to blow in certain directions which correspond to the characters's positions, it all needs to be considered. The detail does sustain an incredible level, but it still could be better, maybe this could be improved further in future releases of Scryed. And your right.....who does care what they think? :)

Gaming Best Game Moments (Spoilers involved)
Sensei-San replied to GhostofSalvtore's topic in Noosphere
Let's see.....*cracks knuckles* Final Fantasy VII, the part after Aeris dies, where Cloud sets her to fade in to that lake. Seeing Cloud let the woman who could've possibily been the love of his life go like that really got me in an emotional vulnerable state. The end part of FFVII, the Final Battle between Cloud and Sephiroth, the snap shots of the close-ups of Cloud and Sephiroth readying for battle really impressed me. The atmosphere was awesome too, the music, the background, etc. The end sequence of Super Mario World, I could just sit down for days trying to memorise all the names of the baddies, lol. Finally......the debut of Yoshi. Seeing that cute lizard crack out of his egg to make a swift appearence almost made me burst into tears of joy. :) -
I found the series to have great depth in its storytelling. Though the themes themselves aren't unique, overall the package it was put together extremely well. The dramatic moments, mixed in with the fighting, blended in flawlessly to create a very polished product. I haven't been too impressed with the storywriting and implementation of it in other series, but scryed defanetly is bucking that trend. Scryed's animation is defanetly top notch, it is very clean, and the movement is smooth throughout. The characters are all drawn with exacting detail, as are the backgrounds and effects. The music is also very well done, the beginning theme is catchy with great music being used throughout the series for ambiance. Sound effects would be marked as very high and well thought out. Overall, Scyred may not be your favorite anime of all time, but it should be one of the better ones.

Personally, my favourite character is Lina, she reminds me of Vegita from DBZ/GT, since she is so arrogant, well that is in my opinion. Lina Inverse has two primary motivations in her young life. The first is getting enough to eat (she never does), lol. The second is getting rich, preferably by robbing bandits, evil sorcerers, and other villains. There is of course no question of giving any of this rotten loot to "the poor". If there's anything Lina isn't, it's Robin Hood. Slayers is by far a great show, it has a mixed genre of comic relief and action. It is not like the common anime of today.

The series is on the episodic side, with several two-parters and a couple minor characters that stay on for a few episodes. The tightly sequenced stories, time-wise, give Trigun a strong sense of continuity that other shows of this format tend to lack. Despite his reputation for the contrary, Vash always winds up helping out some person in distress, and sometimes involutarily Another strong point of Trigun would be its animation and art. The character designs are crisp, consistent, and interesting. The first few episodes look excellent, the colors and cel painting being particularly outstanding. Of course, with Madhouse at the helm one would not expect anything less. The animation quality has dropped a little recently, but it is still good enough that when scenes are incorporated into the opening for that episode, it works. There is a very positive correlation to Cowboy Bebop, they are similar in many ways, from comic relief to serious life and death battles. Trigun has style and attitude, from the heavy metal BGM used in the opening right down to the grunge-style ending theme song done to clips of Vash sleeping, or doing laundry. It is not an intellectual trip, but it is fun and cool, and highly recommended.
