I haven't enjoyed fireworks for year, but the excuse for a massive cookout is enough for me not to be a massive grump about the 4th like I apparently am with every other holiday.
What kind did you buy?
The absolute cheapest one I could find. A Gibson. I think it might be a beginner's guitar for kids? I know absolutely nothing about guitars (or music for that matter), so my basic goal was to just get whatever I could now and get a neat one if and when I can actually play. This is my training wheel. Note: tuning is really hard when you're basically tone deaf.
You though Gladiator was a good story about Ancient Rome?
Can't say as I did, no. So I watched the House Bunny yesterday, mainly because I discovered that Kat Dennings and Emma Stone were in it, and my huge crushes on the both of them compelled me too. It was funny, which is much more than I was expecting. As a side note, this was the latest in a line of "girls getting makeover" movies where I found the girls infinitely more attractive before the makeover.
So two more celebrity deaths are going to occur?:animedepr
I imagine more than two. Unless the flash of a paparazzo's lens has some sort of immortality bestowing qualities I'm not aware of, celebrities are going to just keep dying. More than those four celebrities have died in this past week, actually. The others just haven't had the same amount of media coverage. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deaths_in_2009
Remember the old wivestale: Death happens in threes... And old wivestales like that don't get to be old because they're not often right.
Well, we're up to four in less than a week. This is, of course, only counting celebrities.

It's a bad year for spokesmen in general, what with the shamwow guy beating up a hooker a couple months ago. If I were [strike]The Riddler[/strike] Matthew Lesko, I would be very nervous right now.

FFVII is still a wonderful game. If you can get past the outdated graphics, the at times awkward dialogue, somewhat archaic battle system, and the few confusing and under-explained plot points, you'll find a game with a superb story and top-notch presentation. All these problems (except for perhaps the last one) can basically be summed up by saying "it's old" though.
-
Also, FFVI's General Leo, anyone? :animecry:
I have a hard time even considering him a villain. : P
5this is the first GAME you have a bad guy you really feel for, sephiroth was a good guy, but he went nuts thank to a psychological trigger that occured before the game began.
I can think of half a dozen villains from Chrono Trigger alone I could really feel for.

"Hey, around what time are we doing that thing?" "Sometime later." "How much later?" "Sometime today." I have this conversation at least once a day. Ballparking is not hard!
I didn't know there was a choice... I had to watch it in 3D... Do you know how lame I feel when I have to put on those stupid 3D glasses over my regular ones?!
I'm not really familiar with current 3D effects because I've always hated 3D movies, but is something wrong with the picture when you don't wear them?

I loved this movie. My favorite part was when
the perfectly likable villain feel to his gruesome death. Brutal.
Aside from that, the most striking thing to me was
when [strike]Cosgrove[/strike] Fredricksen struck that man, cracking his head open. There was actual blood; I can't recall the last time I saw that in any animated film (outside of anime, of course). It really stuck out.

John is right about Trauma Center. The dialogue is atrocious. However, this is easily fixable because most of the dialogue is skippable. Well, it's more like you can fast forward through it. After that, it's a wonderful game. I would also recommend Disgaea, because I am a total tactics RPG fanboy. The dialogue isn't great, but it's not trying to be great for the most part; it's just trying to be silly and campy. Again, most of the dialogue is skippable if you end up hating the story. Mario Kart is Mario Kart. I'm a little hesitant about suggesting Phoenix Wright games to anybody, simply because everyone I've recommended it to has not enjoyed it. It's really a niche game. Elite Beat Agents is roughly three monkey barrels worth of fun, but some of those covers are terrible. Finally, get Professor Layton. Naow.
The difference between people who call themselves gamers and people who play games is that gamers face all the challenges. They go through the hardest, most frustrating levels in the games themselves and, yes, oftentimes fight the urge to throw something across the room. But it makes the experience of reaching the end of the game that much more rewarding.
This is incredibly snobby. I'll provide a couple counter example: Gabrial of Penny Arcade. It would take an enormous stretch of the imagination for someone to say that he isn't a gamer, right? Well, he hates games that beat him over the head with their difficulty. http://www.penny-arcade.com/2007/12/03/ Another counter example: Metroid Prime 2. I loved Metroid Prime. I should have loved Metroid Prime 2, right? I didn't. I was massively dissapointed, mainly due to the fact that they severely nerfed the help system, which I found to be extremely handy. As a result, I spent a great deal of that game lost, blindly wandering from room to room without the slightest idea where I should be going. This, more than anything, is what cheapened that experience for me. When I finally beat the game, I didn't feel any great sense of reward for succesfully navigating that labyrinth; all I felt was relief for not having to do it anymore. It just wasn't enjoyable. I've got plenty of examples were ridiculous difficulty ruined a game for me.
How? The only one who can possibly cheapen it is the person who uses it and even then, not everyone is going to agree.
Ehh. Develepers could very easily cheapen a game by putting in sub-par features. Of course, I'm not arguing subjectivity of it, but players should not be held solely responsible for such a thing.
With that logic you must be saying that ALL cars are subpar since nobody is buying much of anything due to the downed economy.
It's a relative model. How it is doing when compared to the rest of the industry is what would make it sub-par, as par is pretty much defined by the industry.
Chrysler folded faster then they did, so you can't base that on the quality of a GM vehicle.
Um... what do you mean by "that?" GM folding? If so, I don't see what Chrystler folding has to do with the relationship between GM folding and the quality of a GM vehicle.
