I never agree with these stuffs-THEY KILL (except those used as medications).God gave us brain so use it wisely.
Two things: Pot won't kill you. I don't believe psylocybin mushrooms or peyote will either, at least from what I can find. Second, a lot of medications can kill. Whether this be by interacting with other medicines or just unfortunate side effects.
They really need to call the show "Hiro's not in every scene and we're sorry."
Heroes is great. I'm a huge superhero-phile, though, so I'm obligated to like it. That being said, a lot of the characters really need better development. At the moment, I really only like Hiro, Nathan, Sylar, and Claude. Everyone else I tolerate at best.
I don't like people that see every girl between the age of thirteen and forty as a potential person to have sex with and actually say so to me. Especially if they're social retards themselves, would never be able to get the girl and use all kinds of different/made-up words while trying to say "I want to have sex with that girl". [/list']
Yeah, I also hate when people discriminate against the elderly.
There is a difference between introducing someone to a religion and converting[/i'] someone to that religion. what I mean by converting is people who don't seem to take no for a answer and leave you alone.
That's not really converting, though, that's badgering. Sure, they're trying to convert you, but they're failing. You seem to be giving the word "convert" a negative aspect which it doesn't have. I recognise that this is just semantics, though, and I know you mean "forceful conversion."
Christians who believe that every other religion other than their own is wrong
Honestly, who doesn't believe that? Most religions are contradictory, and if people thought their religion was wrong they'd change it. There are those who believe that all religions are true, but by believing this they are saying that there are parts that are fault. For example, the Christian God being the one true God?
Also, on the stereotype note, I wasn't talking about religion, I was talking about "Goths" and the negative stereotype we seem to receive wherever we go.
Are you saying it's okay to negatively stereotype Christians and not goths? Because that's what White was getting at: you were complaining about being stereotyped when, in the very same sentence, you stereotyped those who try to convert others.
also, This is something that most christians assume (at least from my own experience), yet is not true: just becuase we say we are not Christian, doesn't mean we don't believe in God, in fact we believe in a God and Goddess.
Just because you believe in a god, does not mean you believe in the god. I'm not saying that your way is wrong here, mind you, merely that what they're assuming is actually true. I don't know much about your religion, so I'm kind of taking a leap here, but I have my doubts that you believe in the same God as Christians do since you also believe in a Goddess. To illustrate my point a little better, two people can each say "I know Larry," and both be right, even though they are talking about two different people.

Otakupedia Entries/Suggestions/Discussion thread
Nerdsy replied to Charles's topic in General Discussion
I'm not happy at how little attention this is getting. : ( Maybe this will kick-start things. First, a correction: Dead's was not the first and only online courtship in OB history, although I don't believe any of the others ever got as far as engagement. Also, I suppose it depends on what is meant by "courtship," which I'm pretty much taking as meaning "dating." Second, an addition. Ginnylyn was well known for her love of CCEBs (Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans) and SH (SledgeHammers). That should probably be worked into her article somehow. Third, a proposed new entry! Angel_Satun_Healer. Joining in early v1, Angel_Saturn_Healer quickly became an established member. She posted main in the Digimon forum and Games and Stories, and was a driving force behind turning Digimon into the tight-knit forum it came to be. Her contribution to the Digimon forum was recognised when she was offered the position of Digimod, whch she held for most of the rest of v1. Angel_Saturn_Healer participated in many popular RPGs, including "Hunt for the Dragonballs" and the lauded "Digistory," which also included most of the Digimon forum regulars. After the switch to VB, Angel_Satrun_Healer reregistered as Saturn_Healer. However, her posts became more and more sporadic, and she ultimately disappeared from the boards entirely a few months later. -

You know what I can't stand? Foriegn English. It's so pretentious. "Oh, look at me, I have an extra "u" after most of my "o"s, despite it not making the word sound like words already spelled that way, like gourd, ground, or sour. I'm so cultured." Also, try pronouncing your "h"s once in while. And a lot of accepted foriegn slang is just silly. "Telly?" Try television, loser. "Buiscuit?" C is for cookie, damn it. "Crinkle-cut crisp?" Are you trying to look ridiculous? "Dingo?" Why even give a name to an animal? As far as Americans are concerned, all non-domesticated animals are called "Kill it and eat it." "Loo?" I don't know how to spell this, so I just Americanised it. Although I'm willing to bet its spelled "louou" or something silly like that. ; )
I was chatting about this with friends the other day. We were saying how much fun it would be to have an entire band. You got Karaoke Revolution for the singers. DDR for the dancers. Guitar Hero for the guitarists. And only Donkey Konga for drummers. If there was a way to make drumsticks in a Wii controller sort of way that you can "air drum" the parts that would be fun. It wouldn't require lots of parts, just sticks that somehow could tell what level/direction you are drumming and maybe a bass drum pedal. In KR there is a mode that you can sing and use a DDR pad to dance at the same time. Why not make an entire band!
You'll be interested in this, then. I'm not too happy about the singing (can't sing worth a damn), but this sounds totally awesome.
Oh and speaking of politics...there's one thing that does annoy me in terms of political catch-phrases: the "gate" suffix. That they are already saying "Thorpe-gate" with this drug testing thing related to Ian Thorpe is annoying. Where's the originality? >_>
Ah, forgot about that one. Yeah... the gate suffix is stupid beyond reason. It's not clever. It doesn't even make any sense! I imagine if teapot dome happened tomorrow, they'd call it domegate or something stupid like that. Although I'm a little surprised that Australians are naming their scandals after American ones. We must be the world leaders in scandels or something. :whoops:
People who say they love something they know almost nothing about. Just because it happens to be cool at the time. Example: "MAN! OMG i love the silent hill movie it is the most awesomeness thing since chicken!" This person has probably never played the game, read the comics or heard the beautiful music. GAH.
If they actually watched the movie and payed attention, then they'd know plenty about it. The movie is self-contained enough that there's really nothing to be added from playing the games or reading the comics, aside from recognizing the characters and complaining about the plot differences. And they're talking specifically about enjoying the movie, theyr'e not saying something like "Silent Hill is an awesome franchise." Seeing the movie is enough to decide whether or not it's a good movie. Besides, when was the Silent Hill movie ever "cool?" It got a pretty lukewarm reception from most people. Here's my irriations. SPECIAL POLITCAL EDITION! - Political catchphrases. "Treehugger," "support our troops," "post 9-11," and what have you. I can't think of any more at the moment. Especially those that rhyme. The lamer the rhyme, the more I hate it. The governor of my state's first name is Mitch. He is a republican, so naturally the democrats despise him. Thus, they came up with the absolute stupidest slogan I've ever heard: "Ditch Mitch." It's nothing but turning complex political issues into a dumbed down string of meaningless words! Speaking of which... - Degrading political nicknames. A bunch of grown men and women acting like two-year olds. "Dingy" Harry Reed, Coultergeist, and whatever else is floating around there now. - People who only vote straight ticket. I have a friend who will tear into anyone who even suggests breaking rank and voting for a republican. She believes that you should stick with the democrats no matter what. Gah.
I didn't think there was a soul alive that actually thought MGS had bad voice overs, but to each their own. I respect your opinion, and I'm not going to question it (sorta), but I am a bit curious as to why you think MGS has bad voicework?
He/she doesn't think that. Those last 4 were described as the best voicework ever. Megaman Legends and Megaman 8 had terrible voice-acting. My God, I wanted to stab my ears with red hot pokers. I also felt Yuna's voicework took a dive in X-2.
. I'm just putting ideas out there for a new revolution in gaming. I would gladly spend money on a game like Drummer Hero.
It's hardly a revolution. They already have drum simulation games. There's one at the local arcade, and it's a hell of a lot of fun. Well, at least it was until one of the pads broke off. EDIT: Link to what I'm talking about.
To further add to what I said earlier, I really hate the way that Americans butcher our words. Aluminium. Say it with me now people: Al-u-min-i-um! Aluminium! Gah! It makes my blood run cold when I hear an American say it. *Shivers at the thought*
You guys came up with both terms, not us, and they're both a horrible mutation of the original word, alumium. So there.
One of my biggest pet peeves are those hella annoying shoes, heelies. Y'know, the ones with the wheels built in? I swear, everywhere I go almost every young child I see is wearing those damn shoes. When they run, skate, and jump to a stop, all I want to do is run over to them and trip them. I have no idea why it bothers me so badly, but I pretty much hate heelies with a passion.
I can't help but laugh whenever I see some kid rolling around with those. They'll never be as cool as light-up sneakers.
On other hand, Serge was sort of...lacking a personality and such a plot twist would have only worked if we could see how badly it affected him.
Perhaps it's just me, but I really felt that, despite being mostly mute, Serge's character really spoke volumes. It was mainly how the other characters responded to him, and it's the absolute best indirect character development I've ever seen in a game. Certainly better than with Crono.
I must be one of the only people that really liked the good ending gained with the Chrono Cross, then? I thought it was sad that
everyone forgot each other and their adventures
but overall, I thought it gave hope and I was interested with how it left off with Kid.
It always pisses me off
when characters forget at the end like that. I always feel cheated - all the characterization I just witnessed was for nothing!
That being said, it's actually one of my favorite endings. From any game. It's just beautiful.
Eh, no. Unless he would've ellaborate on his post with information about what kind of a situation he's in which would affect whether he'd feel guilty or not, I stand by "don't be silly". If he'd feel guilty afterwards, that'd mean he had done something he shouldn't have. It's like stealing fossiles from national parks, while knowing you shouldn't. You're silly then. Or when you turn a word from someone's post from "you" - in the context of "you as a person" - to "someone". You're silly then too.
I was pointing out that there could have been various non "silly" reasons, and that calling his decision silly without knowing his reasoning is jumping to an unfounded conclusion. And I never changed the context of your word. I merely used a word with a broader scope.
How can you possibly feel guilty about having had sex with someone - unless you're already in a relation with someone else? Don't be silly.
Religious stigma. Cultural taboos. That someone was a psycho hose-beast. Clearly a variety of reasons how someone could feel guilty.
However, when it comes to overall plot, I actually prefer Chrono Cross. The stuff between Serge and Lynx is so interesting to me, though it's a bit anticlimactic how the loose ends are wrapped up. I mean, I know it's strongly hinted at throughout the game that Lynx is
Wazuki, Serge's father
, and I suppose it is essentially all but confirmed if you connect the dots with
Miguel guarding the Dead Sea for FATE and Lynx's status as FATE's human incarnation
, but I think it would've been stronger to have Lynx himself confirm rather than have
Chrono's ghost (or whatever the hell it is)
throw it out there at the end like, "Oh, by the way,
Lynx is your dad, Wazuki, BETCHA DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING LOL[/spoiler']"
Say what? I've played through the game at least a dozen times, and I somehow missed that every time.

When I said "nature," I was referring to what the tattoo was of. A Christian school is likely to have qualms with a gangster-rap poster boy. Like has been said, there are various students who have been allowed to have tattoos, and the article says nothing about whether those are religious or cultural. I didn't transition well in my last post. The first paragraph was mostly concerned with the actual rule, where the second one was concerned with the application of it.
The problem with citing Leviticus as grounds for "God supporting it" is that there's so much other stuff in the book that is currently disregarded. To single out a passage like that and hold it up to condemn tattoos while saying "That other stuff is antiquated" seems like a double standard. Not to mention Christianity kind of tosses out Leviticus as a moral standard, cuz Jesus said "An eye for an eye is the old way, I am the new way".
I don't think the school is citing Leviticus. I mean, the school does allow tattoos for religious, cultural, and health reasons (although for the life of me I can't imagine what tattoos have to do with health), so I really doubt they're using 19:28 as a basis. This feels more like a school-specific value, and it likely has consdierably more to do with the nature of the tatoo than tattoos themselves.
I'm pretty sure it stems from the whole idea of your body being your temple.
Slavery, ironically has been a very hot topic among certain members of my family on my fathers side of the family. Because unfortunately, I have ancestors that did own slaves in the south and current relatives who are just as racist and prejudice as they were back then. Most of them I pretty much avoid since I can't stand how they will bash black people given a chance. It's just sickening, to the point that I haven't spoken to some of them in years and years. I can even trace some of them back as belonging to the KKK, something else that disgusts me as well. >_<
I live with family members like that. Perhaps not racist to the point of advocating slavery, but... Well, my uncle, who lives right next door and mooches off of us so much he might as well live here, he refers to Martin Luther King Jr. Days as "James Earl Ray" day.

I understand your point, Retribution, but that analagy is a little off. It doesn't really apply to this situation. I mean, it's not some new CEO apologizing for a corrupt CEO that he or she just replaced. It's more like a CEO apologizing for a corrupt CEO from a hundred and fifty years ago. I don't think that the government is obligated to apologize for the actions of people who aren't alive anymore against people who are also not alive anymore. That being said, I think they should. It's a good will gesture.
