Yeah, I know about all the manga in Japan...of course my idea to have it here originated from they way Japan has it. It'd be cool to have a weekly manga, but I like the idea of a monthly one better, so you can take it a little slower. It'd be cool if they had it avilable here, I agree, but I think only a company like Viz would do something like that! t.t

I've had a subscription to the well-known "Shonen Jump" manga-clearly, the title points out that it is targeted towards boys. I still read it because it has some good manga titles in it, but I got to thinking: Why can't there be a montly manga like this one for girls? 1: Not enough demand. It's not fun to admit, but most girls wouldn't read this in the US, probably because they thought it was uncool or something. Girls in Japan read this stuff on a daily basis-maybe there will be enough demand someday. 2: What company would publish it? Who knows if Viz would bother with something like this. Tokyo Pop and Viz do publish single shojo manga graphic novels, but don't you think it's a lot eaiser and cheaper to get a huge magazine full of different manga? t.t There probably is an 'unknown' manga thing like this for girls, but I don't know about it...it's probably one of those magazines for girls filled with odd advertisements and strange manga my parents probably wouldn't let me read. x.x Although it may happed sometime, I'd just like to see another montly manga like Shonen Jump that is for the Shojo crowd out there. ^^ Maybe if enough of us gripe at the right people, something could be done. ^^ Share your thoughts!

^^ Yeah, it's been a while since I've posted here. It's looking good though, I must say, for not being here for a few months. I've gotten myself caught up in other things, including a mass LOTR/POTC/Orlando Bloom obsession. o.o Anyway, I went to this http://www.playmash.com that a friend had linked me to. I got the oddest results. ^^ Of course you know I selected the best things, like my fav guys or the best cars. We all know remember those fun-filled days on the school bus home when we'd spend the ride playing MASH on paper with our friends (or at least that's how it was for me). And I've been convinced that's it real...except for my results...something about marrying Orlando and being a candy eater. o.o

^____^ You got that right. That's an awesome album. And recording studio...I was reading one of my dad's Pink Floyd albums and it said that it was recorded at Abbey Road.

XD ((I am so late to this thread...)) I absloutely ADORE the Beatles. They are my favorite musical group of all time. I think I got it from my mom. It's odd though, I've always liked them, but not until 2 months ago when my dad and I were cleaning up the house, he put on a Beatles record and I just got automatically hooked. ((my parents both have at least 50 Beatles albums...x.x not counting the CD's we already own!)) I have a lot of songs memorized...the easy ones, like "Eleanor Rigby" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand." ((my fav's!)) When I was little, my mom always listened to the Beatles in her car and stuff, but I never cared. Now I'm the one that makes her listen to them in her car! ((She keeps on putting "I'll Be Back" on repeat...*sigh*)) I don't think it was until recently ((6th grade when I took up the flute)) that I actually started to appretiate music. And for every Beatle fan, there comes the question, "Who is your favorite Beatle?" Mine is Paul McCartney....*sniffle* Why did he re-marry after Linda died? My friend hates Paul because she thinks he's racist because he hates Yoko and that he helped break the band up x.x ((long story-her opinion, not mine...)). I love John too, I love all of them-I just wish they would've stayed together longer like the Rolling Stones or something. I could just go on and on. And because of them, I have a major "thing" for British guys now....^^;; ((I think Beatle Mania is still going on-at least in my head!)) Isn't is funny how you may not even be from the same generation as your parents, but you like some of the things they did? I don't know a person in the world that doesn't like the Beatles, unless they've never bothered to sit down and listen to their music. I went totally berserk the other day when I heard "Hey Jude" in the grocery store... ((I sware, I'm on the verge of starting a Beatles fanclub. Anyone care to join? ^.^ I seriousely need Bealtes friends...none of my friends like the Beatles because they're hooked on their Anime music and Japanese Rap...x.x)) ((see, told you I was obsessed!! *points to plain siggy*))

I'm really looking foward to see this. I've never really been a big fan of Tom Cruise, but he looks pretty good in this one. My dad and I have been obsessing over Japanese history since we watched the series, "Shogun" recently. x.x Nevertheless, it looks like a movie worth seeing. As well as the Cat in the Hat! ((XD))
Originally posted by wrist cutter Good luck with that... while I honestly think, with enough thought and effort, the club could actually be a worthwhile experience for people, I can't imagine you getting much of a response. Maybe it's just where I live, but by taking Japanese you are automatically a loser. I imagine that, if we had a club, by joining it you'd be worsening your social status even more. Few people are going to do that. So I'd say, if you really want this thing to take off, make sure you have the right motivation going around. I'm not sure what it should be yet, but don't just put up advertisements like "Wanna learn Japanese!? Join the Japanese Club!". Don't even say "Join the Japanese Club", it just screams "this club is for geeks". It's a very tender area that would be hard to gain a bunch of support for. But good luck nonetheless.
(and sorry for not replying sooner!!) Thanks for all of your ideas guys. But I understand what you are saying, people at my school are the same way. I'd never put up a poster saying, "Join Japanese club!" etc, etc, because all the people that would join would be the "yu-gi-oh" fans (no offense, but these are SENIORS with NO LIFE...) because I know it would sound totally redicilous. Anyway, I would totally embarass myself in front of the guy I like (who happens to be half-Japanese). Although the wording for joining the club may be hard, a lot of the "bratty cheerleaders" (as some people define them) and the "jocks" that I know all have to take a foreign language and I know the majority of them would like to take something interesting like Japanese. It's an awesome and beautiful language to learn, and I know all sorts of people would probably be willing to learn it. Hm. But that's just one step of the equation....

Eariler this summer, I tried to transfer to another school in my district before I started my Freshman year in high school so I could take a course that my current school does not offer me-Japanese. I went everywhere from the superintendent to the principals, but they all denied me because of where I lived. My parents even offered to drive me to the school with the Japanese course. Currently, I am taking Spanish as my language alternative, mainly becasue it's so easy and I really need it living in Texas! ^^;; (hey, but knowing another language is always a good thing!) So anyway, after being denied an opportunity to learn something really worthwhile, I have decided to form a Japanese club at my school. My parents tell me it will look good on my record and maybe if I get enough people to join and there is a lot of demand, I can get my school to teach Japanese here! I already have a lot of friends that think it's a good idea. I've talked to my counceler, but all she said was, "I don't know, talk to someone else..." She was a lot of help....but now I probably have to talk to my principal or something. My question to you is, dear reader, what should I DO in Japanese Club? Tell me if my ideas sound ok: -Make lesson plans since there are no teachers yet (meaning that I could take all my Japanese books and set up vocabulary for my club members to do, etc. We all will need to know a little something to begin with. Doing this can not only help me learn the language really well, but at the same time others are learning even without a teacher! Good...?) -Set up get-together dates -Have meetings at someone's house (maybe not good...) Etc, you understand where I'm coming from. If you were going to be in my club, I just want to know what you would like to do in it or what you would like to learn. Being how my life has been since the start of school, I have been in tennis tournments and band practices until 10 o'clock at night and I haven't had time for ANYTHING! Marching season is over in band and I'm in off-season tennis now so I finally have time to form this club. I just wish I had some idea what to do in it...and if all goes well, we should have either a teacher teaching Japanese by my Junior year if the demand is good, or I'll just have something else to go on my college application. My life goal at this point is to learn the languages of the world, and I want to be a linguist when I have to get a job. But anyway, to get back on topic, what do you think would look good in a Japanese club? Do you think I should include reading manga or watching anime or anything like that? Give me ideas!!! Oh yeah, and thanks. You must be really bored now after reading all this-or maybe you just skipped down to the bottom like I sometimes do...

Acutally, we did get first last year! Ever since our current band teachers started teaching this year (they were hired in the first place to build the band back again) we've been doing great. Umm...but yeah, we got a 1 at UIL last Tuesday. Only us and the Woodlands (which figures...) got a 1 in our school district.
-
Wow, our marching season ends at almost the same time! UIL marching contest is this Tuesday. We're all pretty nervous, but we're confident that we'll make a first division again this year. It's too bad that marching season is over though-now it's just inside playing and practicing for All-Region tryouts. Our homecoming is this week. Anyway, good luck everyone! ^.^

Being that I play the flute and I dislike most of the flute players (I happen to be friends with everyone else in the band except for the flutes-there are only 4 upperclassmen flutes and the rest of us are freshmen)-I totally regret picking the flute. I was so hectic about what instrument I'd pick three years ago when I was in sixth grade that I just chose the flute. I want to be in the Drumline SO bad now though! So what if they practice more or whatever-I just like it better. It's too late to change now, though. I should've realized that back in seventh grade or something. x.x

I wish I lived in Florida-I miss it there. (a little off topic, but nonetheless...) I remember watching that show almost every time it came on back when I was a little kid. I wanted to be on the show SO bad and be on the Purple Parrots team (bird obsessed). I try to watch it whenever it comes on Nickeloden GAS. It sure brings back some memories, although I don't ever recall seeing the same episode again. I wish they would still film it, I'm sure people would still watch it....I mean, I would when I have the time...^^;;
Originally posted by Queen Asuka Gah, your school is a little bit on the insane side. Our Cheerleaders and our Band got along fantastically, and even did joint routines at some points, especially our Dance Line and the Cheerleaders. The coaches are best friends and we all love one another. The cheerleaders even made us some wonderful banners. It was all very much appreciated. And band people are pretty much friends with everyone. Even football players. It just disturbs me that your school is so "stereotypical," like the crap you see in movies. Are you in middle school or high school?
We're sort of the same way at our school. There is no real internal conflict inside of the school, just between the districts and the school. Our cheerleaders make us banners also and our drill team goes along with us really well (although they don't dance very well sometimes...). My school may not be the best, but we get along.
Originally posted by stardust It all started with the football team,they started insulting us a week ago at our practice. They ran by and called us fags and shouted out obscene things. We wanted to hurt them so bad, lol. Needless to say,their coach was furious, their kicker was suspended from a game and they ahd to apologize to every band period, and they weren't sincere either, it sucked. Then of course the cheerleaders. They share our bus with us, well,one of our buses, and they were actually yelling at some of our band people to triple up in seats so they wouldn't have to share a seat with anyone,they said they might "break a nail",the sad thing is I ain't joking,kinda typical tho. And then what happned today REALLY made us mad. See, all around our cafeteria they hang signs supporting the various sports. Well,we wanted a sign for the band,so the cheerleaders made us this crappy little scribble of a sign and threw it at us. When we tried to hang it in the cafeteria, the PRINCIPAL came over and yelled at us! He said we couldn't hang it up because another sign was supposed to go there, but then we tried to hang it somewhere else and he said not to hang it at all.It's really unfair, considering the cheerleaders alone have 3 signs for themselves and they won't even let us have one.
O.O Goodness, we've never had (have) problems like that! The only problems we have are just putting up with the other schools that think they're better than us. Hah. We'll just see at UIL.....I may not be the best marcher, but hell, I try and I sure as hell don't have enough time for all the practices. NEVER, and I mean NEVER join up for Marching Band and have tennis or an after school sport at the same time. I'm about to have a nervous breakdown as it is... Good luck Stardust, and don't let them get you down. People really and truly don't know how tough band is. We're not 'band nerds' or 'losers.' I'm proud to say that we turn out better than some of the football players at our schools. *Go Band!* ^.^()

Wow...jobs. Just that word gives me goosebumps. I can't wait until the day I receive my first paycheck... I'm still 14 and too young to get a job, but me and a few friends will probably get our jobs this summer working at the YMCA camps or at Target...^^;; (hey, if it pays, take it!) I am hoping to save up my work money to buy myself a car (Beatle!) but as it is it's probably going to be spent on crap I don't need. I mean, c'mon, I'm a 14 year old teenage girl. Just think of how I can blow off my money. I got a group of friends and a mall ahead of me and a few hundred from my paycheck. Not good. But anyway, let's just hope I don't get fired...I'm not planning on it. I mean geez, I'm already worrying about having a job next summer when this summer just ended...*sweat*
