Shonen Jump rocks. My favorite manga are Shaman King, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Yu-Gi-Oh. Actually, I like all of them, even though Sandland doesn't seem quite up to par with the rest. As for the Shaman King dub, it's being done by Taj Studios Inc., the same people that did the Pokemon, Slayers and Utena dubs (the latter of which was good, IMO, especially the movie). Hopefully there will be an uncut Japanese version available. I wonder who's going to distribute it... probably FUNimation.

Answer: Wavemaster Question: What weapon does Elk start out with in .hack//INFECTION?

Yeah, the Spirit of Water and the Spirit of Wind allow you to change the mode of one of your opponenent's face-up monsters. Spirit of Rock and Spirit of Fire allow you to increase their attack power by 300 during your opponent's Battle Phase.

Anime My theory of every unanswered question on this show....
Makai Kite replied to OtakuSennen's topic in Otaku Central
Tsukasa says that his mother died alone in Episode 11 (Party). My theory is that his parents were divorced and after his mother died, he was sent to live with his father. From everything I've seen, I gather that Tsukasa's father is quite abusive. I believe that Tsukasa's mother was what held their family together. Also, the theory about Morgana (the voice): In my opinion, I think that it's Emma. She was good friends with the broken man
(he based The World, his creation, off of the Epitaph of the Twilight, her epic poem)
, so she may have played to see what it was like. Also, I'm pretty sure that the broken man isn't Tsukasa's father. I've compared the man mourning Emma's death in Liminality (I believe that's him) and the man in Tsukasa's flashbacks, and I don't think they look anything alike. -

"Yuriko!" Edia called. "Time to wake up! We're going to be late for school!" Yuriko woke up with a start. She had just had an odd dream. She had been turned into her character that she played as in the online game "The World". Little did she know that would soon be a reality... Then she remembered why she had woken up. "Oh... Coming, Edia-chan!" She left her room after getting dressed for the day. Her best friend's mom had already made breakfast. "Pancakes! My favorite!" Yuriko was finished in one minute flat. She was almost finished getting ready for school when it happened. She looked in the mirror and saw bat wings on her back and that she had aqua-colored hair. Her eyes were halfway through changing from blue to violet. "It wasn't just a dream..." She walked out of the bathroom. Edia looked at her. "It's not just you. I'm different, too. See?" It was true. Edia had changed into a female Heavy Blade holding a long, intricately carved sword. She was wearing a silver tube top and a matching silver skort with black combat boots and armor. She seemed to look right through Yuriko with her ice-blue eyes, and her golden hair glistened in the sunlight coming through the window. Yuriko was the first to speak up. "Well, this is just great. How are we going to be able to go out in public anymore like this?" Edia shook her head. "Everyone else is turning into their characters, too. So it won't be a problem." "But why is this happening?" Edia shrugged. "I don't know. Well, we better be going to school." Yuriko just rolled her eyes. They walked to school together, speculating on what they thought might have happened. When they walked into class, their eyes met with an entire room of friends from "The World"... But one face stood out in particular. She had short teal hair and hazel eyes. She had angel wings on her back and wore a turquoise tube top, skirt, and sleeves. Her boots were white and she carried an axe with her. She walked over to Air and said, "Hello. I'm Subaru. Today has certainly been odd so far, hasn't it?" Air blinked. This "Subaru" was like her exact opposite, but when you thought about it, everyone was actually the same. We're all human...
Originally posted by James So, I have a small fan in my room that I put on every single night. The fan's good because it's a constant hum and it's not too loud. So, that's usually how I fall asleep. ~_^
I have a fan in my room too. When my family and I are in the car, if I'm really sleepy and have nothing to do, my eyes are closed in an instant. Usually, though, I get woken up by a traffic jam or a speed bump or something. ^_^ So, uh... yeah. *wanders off*

.hack//SIGN has great music. In my opinion, there is a great variety of music on the soundtracks and all of it is done wonderfully. Another soundtrack that is, IMO, quite well-done is Yu Yu Hakusho. I've enjoyed every single song I've heard and all the seiyuu/singers have done a great job, IMO. One random song I like in particular is Aqua from Earth Girl Arjuna. It's comprised of beautiful chants and ethereal melodies that are really pleasant to listen to when you just want to sit back and relax.

I think the first anime I ever saw was Sailor Moon. I used to watch it before school every morning when I was younger and I still watch it sometimes, though now I watch the uncut version. After that I saw Pokemon, which got me hooked onto anime. It still makes for good entertainment when I don't feel like thinking too hard. ^_^

Anime (US/CAN) General thoughts and ratings for .hack//SIGN 15, "Evidence"
Makai Kite replied to Shy's topic in Otaku Central
Originally posted by AzureWolf And can someone check the episode that memory of Tsukasa's mother's funeral was in originally? I wanna see if I was just imagining things. I think it said "Emma" on the grave! Unfortunately, my double-take was too slow and the text was gone before I could check. :(
I checked the episode and it looks like it does say "Emma" in very stylized letters (which is why it was hard for me to read at first). So your eyes didn't deceive you! Before you mentioned it, I didn't even notice there was something written on the grave. -
Anime Worst anime vocal song you've heard?
Makai Kite replied to Utena_Tenjou's topic in Otaku Central
The worst anime song I've ever heard is Dark Side Stories from Yuu Yuu Hakusho (Hiei & Kurama duet). It's not that I'm against Hiei or anything, but the seiyuu's singing voice is *awful* (at least in this song)! Kurama's voice actress sounded wonderful, but Hiei's just ruined the whole thing for me. If you're looking for a good duet between the two, try Wild Wind. -
Sadly, we'll have to wait until next month to find out since that's where that chapter (for reference, it's Chapter 17) ended and I don't know of or have access to any other sources for it. Sorry about that.

Yeah, Shadi can "redecorate" a soul room so the person can be put under his control (this is called "Marionette Design").
In order to bring out Yami, Shadi put Yugi's friends in danger. He turned Anzu into a doll and managed to bring out Yami. Shadi then challenged him to a Shadow Game where the strength of one's mind is tested. There are four small ushebti (figures originally buried with pharaohs in their tombs) anchoring the bridge Anzu is standing on to the ground. If Yami's mental strength falters, one ushebti will break and bring Anzu closer to her death. To win, Yami must break Shadi's ushebti before all of his break.
They're talking about the second Liminality OAV that comes with .hack//MUTATION. Yuki Aihara is the heroine of that OAV. I haven't watched it yet, because I read it's a better idea to watch it after you're done with the game.

I like Coffee ice cream, Peanut Butter Passion (Reese's Cup ice cream), and Strawberry ice cream (our local grpcery store rocks!). I don't do anything special when it comes to syrup and stuff. I just eat it normally. The ice cream man... Whenever I hear that music, I have strange visions. Children being taken by the terror of death... the ice cream man. *Bum bum bum!* So, yeah... I don't like the ice cream man. Desbreko---> Let me in on that plan! Shy---> I'm interested in that quiz.

Um... *stares at thread for a moment* Wow... this has really heated up. Anyway, I don't think the mods are too strict. They're just doing their jobs and keeping the boards clean and free of jerks that ruin everyone else's enjoyment of the board (and people who make no effort to improve their posts so that people can understand them). From what I've seen on this forum, they've done a smashingly good job.

Evira stared at the black screen for a few minutes. She wondered what had happened to Kaya in The World. ?Is she okay?? she said aloud. With that, she decided to reset her computer and log back in? As Marika walked around Azure City, she heard a familiar voice. It was Kaya. ?Could you please look into the situation?? The Sys-Admin nodded. ?What was that about?? Marika asked. Kaya was silent for a second. She then said, ?I was just speaking with the Sys-Admin about the problem we had earlier. Apparently, strange things have been going on in other fields and servers, too.? ?Really?? Kaya nodded. ?They said they were investigating it and were thinking about forcing a system shutdown.? Marika looked concerned. ?Can you imagine what an uproar that would cause? Think of the massive fanbase The World has!? ?I know, but there?s really nothing we can do.? With that, the two thought about where they would go while they were waiting for answers. ?Let?s go back to that field,? Marika suggested. ?Maybe we can find some answers for ourselves.? Kaya looked worried. ?But what if we run into that monster again?? ?Hmm? well, we?ll worry about that when and if it happens.? Kaya smiled, not letting Marika know she was worried. And so with that, they were on their way. It was a fairly quiet evening in Azure City considering the circumstances. Many of the players were quietly whispering about the strange incidents that had been occurring that day. When they finally reached the Chaos Gate, they saw a strange character in front of them. She had pale white skin and silver hair. Her black eyes seemed to look right through them. She wore an exquisite pure white kimono and held a beautiful ivory staff. Her teardrop earrings glinted in the sunlight. She smiled gently at the two of them and floated above the city. Kaya and Marika stepped back and tried to run away. Kaya and Marika stared at the figure in awe. Just then, the girl began to sing a haunting melody. Tears filled her gray eyes and then everything froze for a moment. When everything went back to normal, she was gone, and her voice echoed through the city. Hushed whispers could be heard throughout the entire city. ?That was no ordinary player character? Come on. Let?s go.? With that, Kaya followed Marika back to the Chaos Gate and into the field. Marika stared at the field. ?Hold up! I don?t remember that being there!? Kaya looked at what Marika was pointing at and gasped. Right in the middle of the field was a statue of the girl they had seen before. ?Come on. We?re getting to the bottom of this.? They made it to the dungeon without any problems. When they tried to go in, the Sys-Admin stopped them. ?This area is off-limits. Gate Out now and return to Azure City.? Marika didn?t move an inch. ?We?re trying to figure out what happened a few hours ago. I won?t let anyone get in my way,? she said, and her eyes glinted dangerously. Kaya, who was standing from a distance and watching the scene, gasped as she saw the ivory staff Marika was holding in her hands. She began to float into the air as she held the staff in her hands. ?What does this staff do?? The maiden in white appeared before her. ?This is the Key of Isis. It holds her memories. Only one with a pure soul can unlock them.? Marika stared at the Key. ?I don?t understand. Are you telling me that this thing holds all of a player?s memories?? The maiden shook her head and disappeared. ?Wait! I need answers! What should I do?? The Sys-Admin thought for a second. ?On second thought? you seem to be a very special player. I shall grant you special permission to explore this dungeon. Be careful, though.? ?Thank you.? Marika and Kaya bowed and went on their way. The first monster they came across was an Ogre. Kaya looked at it. ?It doesn?t look too tough!? Marika shrieked as she got caught in a torrent of flames. ?Looks can be deceiving!? Kaya thought for a moment. ?Hmm? water-element spells would produce Elemental Hits? Rue Rom!? Her attack produced a huge amount of damage. Marika got up and watched Kaya battle, thinking to herself, She?s fighting for me? to protect? me. Nobody?s ever done that before. As she felt hot tears run down her cheeks, she realized that this was no time for tears. As Kaya defeated the monster, Marika struck a treasure box where the monster had been. ?Oh. Whoops.? ?Well, that was brilliant. Let?s go.? Marika looked at her staff. It?s beautiful , she thought, ?but what did she mean by ?her memories?? She stopped and looked up at the ceiling. Kaya shrieked from far away, ?Hey! Hurry up! Wavemasters aren?t that slow!? Marika snapped out of it and returned to reality. ?Oh! Sorry.? The two stopped in front of a huge monster. ?We?re in big trouble.? ?Why didn?t we level up before we came here?? ?It totally slipped my mind.? Just then, they heard the haunting melody of the maiden again. Everything froze for a moment and then they heard her speak for the first time. ?Please? My time?s running out? unlock her memories?? Marika stood silently for a moment. ?How do I unlock the memories?? ?Go to the Chamber of Death.? Kaya gasped and tripped over a rock. ?Chamber of Death?? she managed to yelp. ?The route there is very tough, so you should be careful. The keywords are on the BBS under the topic ?Hidden Item?!?. There you will find a door.? The maiden stopped and collapsed. ?I?m sorry? my time has run out? Goodbye.? Marika and Kaya stared in disbelief as a single tear flowed down the maiden?s face and she turned to dust. They stood and watched as the dust disappeared. Marika was the first to speak. ?Who did this?? In a hospital, a young girl is in a coma. Her foster father looks at the doctor, as if pleading with him to bring her back to consciousness. ?How is she, doctor?? ?No heartbeat?? ?No?? A single tear fell and landed on the father?s hand. Elsewhere, Melissa got another E-mail from someone named Reina. This person claimed to know something about the maiden?s disappearance? Evira was in shock. She lay on the floor of her bedroom in a heap, her tearstained face and emotionless eyes facing in the direction of the computer screen. Just then, the phone rang. Evira got up slowly and staggered over to go answer it. It was Melissa. ?Go to?? The World Real World

Anime Which Animes Are Dubbed Best/Worst?
Makai Kite replied to ~Mystical Pan~'s topic in Otaku Central
Best Dubs! Cowboy Bebop: This dub owns. The voices fit perfectly. .hack//SIGN: I'm not sure why, but even after seeing the sub version, I keep coming back to the dub. It's not stellar or anything, but the voices do seem to fit the characters' personalities (even Tsukasa's, though some people I know don't seem to like his voice). Utena: The voices seemed to fit the characters well, though Chuchu's voice can be annoying at times. Boogiepop Phantom: The voices on this are wonderful, from what I've seen (episodes 1-3). Boogiepop's voice is stellar and might even be better than the original voice (shudder). However, I don't like Manaka Kisaragi (the Butterfly Girl)'s voice for some reason. Worst Dubs... Yugioh: I honestly love the anime itself, but the voices just don't seem to fit the personalities. I can stand Isis, Malik, Kaiba, Mai, and Yami's voices, but I don't like the accent they decided to give Joey, and for some reason, there's just something about Tea's voice that doesn't seem to suit her. Cardcaptors: Ahh, yes... the horribly butchered version of Cardcaptor Sakura. Not only did they decide to feature "Li" as the main character to make it appeal more to boys, but they made Sakura seem like an uncaring witch, Madison sounds like a valley girl, and countless other things I could mention. Buy the sub. It owns this version. I'm sure there are a lot more that I'm forgetting... -
I'm planning on watching Boogiepop Phantom, Gatekeepers 21, and Soultaker when they come on because I've been wanting to see those anime (well, I've seen 3 episodes of Boogiepop Phantom, but I can't find the second volume).

Intermezzo is apparently a story of Mimiru's first adventures in The World. I'm not really sure what it would be classified as.
