You know, I really surprised there hasn't been a thread about this yet.I recently heard about it being raved about by my friends on facebook so I decided to watch some of it myself. Holy crap! Mind blown! Now I regret that I don't know too much about this super hero....mainly because I normally get exposed to Marvel through their cartoons and I heard that the movie is horrendous. Anyway, I have enjoyed what I have seen so far. The pacing seems a little off to me at times but I love how they are developing the characters and seeing how their personalities shine through. This is way better than Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D in my opinion. Anyone else see this yet?

Tonight was the series finale of Parks and Recreation. I love this show. I was not on board from the beginning, but I caught it on Netflix. I could not stop watching. I am so invested in the lives of the characters. I'm also pretty convinced that someone followed me around in my twenties and then wrote the character April Ludgate.    Do you love it? Do you hate it? Are you uninitiated? Can we sit and watch it together? Talk to me about my newly finished show.

I didn't care much for Aang until the last 4 episodes, and looking at that concept art of Korra makes me think she's one of those strong female types. Anyone else a fan of this show? I've always enjoyed horror movies and there hasn't been too many truly horror TV shows in a while. So I started watching this one last fall, I got all of Season 1 and glued myself to the TV watching the whole first season over one weekend. I didn't get any work done, but I really enjoyed myself.   Each season follows a different horror story, Season 2 is a little over halfway over now. It's so hard to talk about without spoiling! ^_^   Violet was probably my favorite character in Season 1. Not sure who it is for Season 2, probably the Angel of Death. :x Though I liked her as a maid in Season 1.   Yes! The stories are different but many of the actors remain the same. ^_^ It's kind of cool seeing them play in different stories and change from good to evil and vice versa.

[size=1]And I do not mean the series when I say new. After all the specials between now and 2010, Tennant is quitting. Has anyone in England seen Children in Need? Because the New Doctor is on it. That's right. The New Doctor. Apparently, it's David Morrisey. Now the clip on Children in Need will be continued at Christmas, so I'm sure you can catch it on YouTube tomorrow. What does everyone think? Personally, his clothing looks better because it's more classic Who, methinks, but I don't know about David Morrisey. He's a bit of a goon. I'm also really concerned about the length of time these Doctors have. The series are shorter this time around so we don't see as much adventure... seriously, Doc' only has a few lives left, and BBC is burning it away. But I guess you can't win it all. Also, Russel T is off the crew. As a writer at least I think, which is good and bad. Sometimes he came up with amazing stuff, and sometimes I regretted being a Doctor Who fan. Was it [i]his[/i] idea to bring Peter Kay into it? Seriously? Originally I started watching it because of Emmy Rossum (Fiona), but now I just really like the series. :^D Jeremy Allen White (Lip) is a seriously awesome character, and strangely enough I find Goku to be pretty cool as well. William H. Macy's character Frank is played so well that I seriously get murderous intentions when I watch him mess everything up every time. On Sept. 19, 2011, I had the chance to check out the season 9 premier episode of the hit sitcom "Two and A Half Men", which marked a turning point for the show itself as the episode introduces a new protagonal character Walden Schmidt, who takes over the house of ex-protagonist Charlie Harper, who was implied (in dialogue) to have kicked the bucket on a train track in Paris after the events in the show's season 8 finale episode. Despite Charie's demise, the show is still (in opinion) "Two and A Half Men" in spirit as the series will still center around two adult males and one boy not yet an adult with Alan Harper and his teenage son Jake Harper still being included as series protagonists. Anyway, you're welcome to discuss and share your thoughts what you've seen so far in the series after season 8's closing episode.

In a lot of ways, the its like The Blair Witch Project: it's presented an amateur film project where the subjects become haunted by an unearthly force. The scares stem not from cheap "Boo!" moments, but from the atmosphere, which is deliberate and moody. There are a few "Boo!" moments, but because of the general aura of terror and the masterful underplaying of them, they feel more real and terrifying. I don't really scare easily when it comes to fiction, but this series seems to hit all the right buttons. I actually think it's better than The Blair Witch Project, at least when terror is concerned; the evil force in Blair Witch is [i]too[/i] intangible, negating the terror that is associated with an unknown entity. Slenderman, however, makes his presence [i]explicitly[/i] known. The mystery is still there, but there is a tangible focus for it. Its the best of both worlds. Since the revival of [i]Let's Make a Deal[/i] is now three weeks old, does anyone on the boards watch game shows?

I'm sure most of you have heard of My Little Pony, right? The girliest of girly things, it's a cartoon and toy line made by Hasbro in the 80s, serving as a distaff counterpart of sorts to Transformers. It's still around, and last year it resurfaced in this newest series. Subtitled "Friendship is Magic", it serves as a reboot to the franchise. Perhaps most notably, it is led by Lauren Faust, wife of Craig McCracken, who is probably best known for The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, both of which she also wrote and directed. Her goal was to make a girls' cartoon that didn't fall into the inane stereotypes of the genre, using a strong cast of females, and plots that don't involve fretting over boys and fashion [Rarity's love of fashion notwithstanding, though even she breaks the trend by [i]starting[/i] trends, as opposed to following 'em], while using the witty and clever humor her other shows are known for. It has succeeded, but in perhaps the most backwards way possible -- while still a show that everyone can enjoy, most of the audience consists of 17-34 year old...boys and men. Admittedly, though, the fact that the show is currently 4chan's /co/ board darling is [s]probably[/s] most definitely the reason for that. Now it's gotten theOtaku and Otakuboards in its grasp [although the core fans here are mostly female so far, inverting the subversion that was meant to be subverted but wound up being inverted and ow my head], and I figured "HEY, why not make a thread for it so we can contain our spazzing?" And here we are. Oh, and for those curious, this show airs on The Hub, and recent episodes are on its site. [spoiler]Though Hasbro has, at the time of this writing, been somewhat generous with keeping the past episodes on Youtube. This week on September 8, the "Star Trek" franchise turned 45. Yes, this legendary sci-fi-genred media franchise is now 45 years old and up to date, it consists of 6 T.V. series (5 live-action and 1 animated) and 11 theatrical movies (with a 12th one currently under construction), and has over the years spanned countless novels, comic books, video games, rpgs, etc. Anyway, as we celebrate 45 years of one of America's most well-known examples of science-fiction, everybody here is welcome to discuss his/her "Star Trek" memories, whether it's about favorite moments from the ST T.V. series and films, merchandise collecting, trying out "Star Trek" gaming, meeting actors and staff who contributed to "Star Trek", Star Trek-themed activities at festivals/conventions, "Star Trek" cosplay, etc.

Recently I've been going back and listening to a lot of old theme songs/soundtracks of old TV shows I watched as a kid, and I've been rather surprised by some of the quality of the songs. Ought to be a fun thread. It's quite simple. You just post a video of your favorite scene.. (or if you can't find it just tell it) It can be from a movie, cartoon, tv show, stand up, etc etc. At first I was gonna go with favorite movie quote but given how I get stuck trying to find them, I figure I make the thread a little more broad and give it a wider range.. While I was out this weekend I scored all three seasons of [b]Batman: The Animated Series[/b] at Best Buy.  Aside from a couple of animated movies this is the only non-anime series I've really felt like adding to my DVD library.  I'm wondering of if the rest of you Otaku have any favorite cartoons that aren't anime.  Aside from the aforementioned Batman series the only other one I'd really be interested in obtaining would be [b]Conan the Adventurer [/b]and possibly the [b]Pirates of Dark Water [/b](that'd be an impulse buy though). Oh, CGI series also count since I'd love to find complete series box sets of [b]Reboot[/b] and [b]Shadow Raiders [/b]that our friends in Vancouver, Mainframe Entertainment, put out. So what about the rest of you guys?  Any childhood 'toons or recent faves stand out in your mind as noteworthy?

[font="Comic Sans MS"]I feel like a complete idiot not having started this thread earlier, so here it is. At long last, we have a [b]Phineas and Ferb[/b] thread, only about two or three years late. So I suppose I should explain the show, right? Here we go. Imagine, if you will, a show about a bipedal platypus who is a secret agent, something like a cross between James Bond and Indiana Jones, but a monotreme. Anyway, this platypus is engaged in an eternal struggle with the evil Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, a hilariously incompetent mad scientist whose evil schemes tend to revolve around ridding himself of petty irritations. Sounds cool, right? Now take all that and condense it. You now have the SUBplot of [b]Phineas and Ferb[/b]. The A-plot of every episode revolves around the titular characters, two stepbrothers aged "less than fifteen", as they try to make the most of every day of Summer. This usually involves building some kind of enormous and elaborate contraption in order to perform a certain task or taking over some kind of professional operation and rigging it to be more fun. Throughout all this, they are continually hounded by their well-meaning yet extremely neurotic older sister, Candace, as she attempts to "bust" them by snitching about these escapades to their mother. Typically, Candace's efforts are accidentally thwarted by the antics of Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Perry, the aforementioned secret agent platypus and the boy's pet. But that's not really the appeal of the show. The series thrives on its quirky sense of humor, along with some very clever pop culture references and some hilarious bouts of subtext that should definitely keep the parents of the show's demographic just as entertained as the kids themselves. All in all, it's the best thing on the Disney Channel right now. Oh, and the network mandates at least one song per episode, which has managed to result in some of the catchiest tunes in an animated program since [b]Animaniacs[/b] back in the 90's.
