1. What music is blaring your ear drums? Music that you're jamming to, thinking about a lover to, crying to, moshing to, getting crunk to, anything! Music sets the mood, what song are you currently feeling? ----- "Plot for a Little" - Camu Tao (As heard in the Blood+ commercial on AdultSwim) I'm not sayin' my body is shameless and I'm not sayin' I'm layin' with Satan...

3.   There is an overwhelming amount of content for these popbots. This means there is a lot of good songs, but also a bunch more of okay/bad stuff. My solution to this is just posting a bunch of our favorite ones so that we can all enjoy them!   This one reminds me a lot of the Scott Pilgram side scroller game, and is easily my favorite.
4. Last night I was at the Judas Priest concert in Tacoma, for their Redeemer of Souls tour, and I had an absolute blast. Managed to get ticket on the floor, got in early enough (despite a stupidly-placed accident where, like, five highways merge together) to get basically right up front, and ... yeah. I have no voice today. Well. I do have a voice, but it's stupid low. Everyone I've talked to says I sound a) horrible; or b) like the radio announcer for Jazz 89. But the whole night was full of awesome. Started out when I was heading into the Dome through the General Admission area, and surrounding the line of people heading in were small clumps of people armed with picket signs, all of which read some version of the idea that All Have Sinned (which is, you know, a valid point) and that we were all going to Hell (which is, you know, mighty dadgum presumptuous, seeing as I have been saved for 20 years, which is most of my life, and I will be attending a Judas Priest concert if I damn well please thankyouverymuch). This, of course, was prompting a volley of raucous retorts back at them, including at one point a defiant "WE WORSHIP THE DEVIL!!", followed almost immediately by a more moderate and pacifying "We don't all worship the Devil," which I found extraordinarily entertaining. And then an older gentleman in a wheelchair rolled up past the line, looked at everyone yelling, looked at me, and said, "I don't know what all you young folk are so worked up over. This brings back memories for me. What's a Priest concert without bible-thumpers hollering at us?" He then rolled on to ticket-check, and I burst out laughing. A group called Steel Panther opened for Priest. This group is basically a smashup of Glam Rock, shredder metal, Van Halen, and Zoolander, and they know it. Their bassistâ??who is, like, 90% Duck Face and took frequent pauses for hair sprayâ??was described by their guitarist as either the foxiest man on the planet or the reincarnation of Farrah Fawcett, and they played high-brow charts such as Asian Hooker, The Shocker, and 17 Girls In A Row. Didn't take themselves seriously at all, except for the fact that they can freaking play, and they did a fantastic job as the opening act. And then Priest came on stage and brought down the house. The knot of people around me, near the left front of the stage, ranged in age from probably just barely legal (couple of gals) to some guys in their late fifties, and all of us were rocking out hardcore. I also managed to snag several photos on my phone; the best one is right here. That is Richie Faulkner, who saw me with my phone up, aimed directly at me, and held the post until I threw him a fist, which he returned and then went to the other side of the stage. So. Where do you go for concerts, OB? Who do you scream for? What kind of crazy crap happens to you? I want to know.
5. I love Music. Music is constantly in my house. We have a guitar, bass ,acoustic guitar, Drum set, and a piano in my basement where we jam. I listen to so much music like Mute Math, Coldplay, Muse ,John Mayer ,RHCP , Ac/DC, Van Halen, Jason Mraz, Victor Wooten, Ben Folds, etc. But I cannot have a favorite band because of all the music they create it's just to hard to come to a conclusion. But if you have or haven't decided your favorite band post anyway I'd really like to know!
6. Theres a genera of music, its called Ska. Ska could be classified as Jazz, Calypso, Reggai and Punk all mixed together into one super genera. If you've heard, post you're favorite band, concert, CD, song, what ever it may be, as long as its Ska related. Also if you want to learn more or find some new bands, just drop a post.
7. Well, I love hiphop, rock, R&B, and sometimes rap. But I like hiphop the most! How about you?
8. phonet

Phish

Has anyone heard of or like the band Phish? They're back together and touring again at the moment so I am wordlessly excited. I've loved them since elementary school, at least. :) Anyway, if anyone likes them or is looking for album recommendations or has something mildly constructive to say, that would be boss.
9. This here is a thread for any and all musicians to tell the world (or the rest of OB) what instruments you play, what makes they all are and how they are the greatest instrument you could ever ask for. I'll go first: I have an alto saxophone lying under my bed which hasn't seen any use in some months, unfortunately. It's a Yamaha, so pretty good quality, although it's currently a little beaten-up and doesn't play as well as it used to. But I think scratches and dents add character, personally. The instrument I'm most into at the moment is the bass guitar. I have two, one which I rarely use any more since I got my new one. My old one, which is hanging on a hook in my bedroom in it's gig bag, was an Ibanez GSR200 in Jewel Blue, and I loved that thing. It was my first ever bass, and it has seen so much use, and quite a number of gigs where I thrashed it pretty hard. It got really scratched up, and the battery compartment doesn't hold as well as it used to, but I managed to fix the internal wiring problem so it plays ok. However, my new bass is the apple of my eye - a natural ash Musicman StingRay. It's such a beautiful thing, and the tone is so perfect that I've been told I'd have to get a bass custom-made to beat it. I don't have any stickers or anything on it (unlike my Ibanez) because I'm wary of ruining the paintwork, however, I'm in a sort of punk/funk band so I may well have to grunge it up a bit. I really love this thing, I play it pretty much every day for a good few hours, so it's already got a lot of fret-wear which looks awesome. I run it through an Ashdown Perfect 10 30-watt amp, which has gorgeous tone to it, although I am thinking of upgrading to a slightly heftier wattage sometime soon. I also have a Digitech FX pedal which I use occasionally, but again I'm thinking of getting a couple of stomp-boxes to replace it (probably a fuzz pedal and a synth wah envelope filter). Anyway, music nerd stuff over, I'll let anyone else take their turn.
10. So... Music kind of is the only thing I do. I don't watch that much TV, I do get on the computer alot, but I'm usually always looking up or listening to music. So. I guess. I have a long list of favorite musicians. I no longer really have one favorite (well. The Number 12 Looks Like you may have an exception)... I listen to all of these bands/musicians pretty regularly. I listen to many many many other musicians as well, but they just didn't make it on my favorites list because A. I don't have enough material from them, or B. They just can't beat anyone on my favorites list. I'm pretty faithful to most of these bands. So. Here goes nothing. This is the list I put together. Off the top of my head. lol. In no particular order, by the way. I just listed it to see how many. 1. The New Season 2. Strike the Choir, 3. This is Your Captain Speaking, 4. Stained Glass Masquerades, 5. Life in Rescue, 6. Kaiden, 7. pmtoday, 8. Asteios, 9. Heart for a Hand, 10. Tarantuloco, 11. Nearest the Positive 12. This Love These Hands, 13. In Irons, 14. The Black Noise Party Boys 15. The Number 12 Looks Like You, 16. HeavyHeavy LowLow, 17. Bring Me The Horizon, 18. From A Second Story Window, 19. Arsonists Get All The Girls, 20. The Human Abstract 21. As Cities Burn, 22. Fear Before The March of Flames, 23. Alesana, 24. The Fall of Troy, 25. The Blood Brothers, 26. Enter Shikari, 27. Chiodos, 28. HORSE the band, 29. From First To Last, 30. Aiden, 31. AFI 32. pg. 99, 33. Saetia, 34. Circle Takes The Square, 35. Gospel, 36. I Would Set Myself on Fire For You 37. Amon Amarth, 38. Children of Bodom, 39. Iron Maiden 40. The Devil Wears Prada, 41. Everytime I Die, 42. Underoath, 43. Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, 44. Norma Jean, 45. This Runs Through, 46. MyChildren MyBride, 47. xDEATHSTARx, 48. Eyes Set to Kill, 49. Haste the Day 50. Brand New, 51. MewithoutYou 52. Coheed and Cambria, 53. The Sounds of Animals Fighting 54. Die Kreuzen, 55. SSD, 56. Gallows 57. My Chemical Romance, 58. Sick Puppies, 59. Fall Out Boy, 60. Billy Talent, 61. Anberlin, 62. Antic Cafe' 63. Straylight Run, 64. James Blunt, 65. John Mayer, 66. The Fray, 67. Annalisa, 68. Chris Loggins 69. The Gorillaz, 70. As I Lay Dying Haha. Yeah As I Lay Dying is at the bottom. xD Though bands like Embrace the End, Winds of Plague, Figure Four and Lamb of God could kick As I Lay Dying's butt.... They've kind of grown on me. So. Yes. I don't expect you to detail every band you post, but it's of course, okay to talk about some of them. The Top 9 on the list are of course, local bands. I'm very into the local scene. The Number 12 Looks Like You, is most likely most favorite. I'm a very big fan. I have all of their CDs and what not. And I'm waiting for the next one. Bands Like HeavyHeavyLowLow, Alesana, and Enter Shikari are really good, but have only got one full-length out each. So. When they come out with more, I'll be able to decide whether or not they're up there with #12. HeavyHeavyLowLow I will have to say... though... Is Amazing. Enter Shikari as well. Bands like xDEATHSTARx, SSD, and MyChildrenMyBride write lyrics about being straight-edge, which is a major WOOH for me. Drugs and drinking are not my thing, and I'm glad these guys express their veiws on it too. xDEATHSTARx is just the most... well. Brutal Christian band I know of. It's pretty cray how much trash and punk infulence they can mix in with metalcore, and blow it out with three vocalists on deck. ...Lol. I'll probably detail more later. So, yeah. Somebody else come up with a list please? Doesn't have to be as long as mine... But... I don't know. At least longer than ten bands. lol. EDIT: I forgot one of my most listened to! xD... The Jonbenet is number 71 Then. They're right up there with The Number 12 and HeavyHeavyLowLow.
11. Sometimes, we buy an album, or hear a song and go meh. But sometimes a good song drives us further and halts us within the town of Obsession. So, I ask you, what is your latest musical obsession. It can be 1 song, it can be 1 album, or it could be a whole band. For me, it's Chevelle. In under a week I've bought two of their CD's, Vena Sera and This Type of Thinking (Could do us in). which is different for me, because I never in my life have bought two albums from the same band in the same week. But god, Chevelle is awesome. They could be compared a bit to Tool, but mostly due to lead singer Pete Loeffler, who can go from soft and melodic to harsh and aggressive. And also, they have some similarity between their voices that I just love. Also, Pete has an AMAZING writing talent, using metaphors at almost every turn. ("Time holds us for a minute, it dries the wrists like penicillin" - Brainiac from Vena Sera.) Plus, the lyrics, while sometimes very serious sounding, can be very foolish. Like the song Get Some, which is really based on drinking whiskey and passing out on the yard. To really show how much I love Chevelle, I've hardly had any time to listen to Coheed and Cambria.
12. Well, for almost every song, there is a dubstep remix. At least, that's how it is for popular songs. I found two that made me want to make this thread. Friday by Rebecca Black .........it's actually catchy. Kinda. It's Frida- WOB WOB WOB WOB WOB WOB And I like this one better than the Friday remix: Nyan Cat! I love it. And now two others that I love that don't make me laugh. Whatcha Say by Jason Derulo. Starts out a bit boring, but gets pretty awesome. Lights by Klaypex (not a remix) <333333 0:57 = love I have many more, but I dun wanna spam too many videos. ;A; So, what are your favorite dubstep remixes? Or remixes that made you laugh? Or songs that are 100% dubstep and are not remixes? I need some more dubstep to listen to!
13. We may have had a topic like this before - and I know we often post YouTube videos in this forum - but I thought it'd be a good idea to actually create a topic where we can talk specifically about music videos. I don't watch music channels nearly as much as I used to, but I'm still a lover of good music videos. They are getting increasingly sophisticated and many are becoming a lot like mini-movies, even containing narratives that stretch across multiple videos (Lady GaGa being one recent example of this). One of the great things about music videos, for me, is that I don't even have to like the song. Sure, it helps, but sometimes I can really love a video without actually digging the track itself. And sometimes the video actually helps me to like a track more. Go figure! I also find that once I watch a music video - especially if it's memorable in some way - I will always imagine it when hearing the song on the radio. I thought it'd be fun to post our favourite music videos here, or even to post videos that you want to discuss. I'll start and I'll put together a little suggested format for us to use, too. Before we start though, my main suggestion is wherever possible to use the HD version of the video. It just looks nicer and hopefully most people will be okay to load it. If you can't find an HD version, don't worry. Also, as evidenced by the very first video I'm about to post, I understand that many music videos are not strictly PG-13. I have no problem with that, as long as you bear two things in mind:

If you think the video is mature in nature, please flag it like I have done below, and;
The video may not be pornographic. I'm sure many artists will have videos that contain some skin or whatever, but let's try not to let it become X-rated, okay?
I will monitor this as we go and so can the staff. If something is really objectionable, it'll be removed - but I think for the most part we should be fine. TRACK TITLE: ALL THE LOVERS | ARTIST: KYLIE MINOGUE | MATURE: YES | COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: AUSTRALIA Unfortunately embedding is disabled for all the versions of this video. Please feel free to watch it on YouTube. So, Americans here may know a little of Kylie Minogue. I think she did relatively well in the U.S. for a very brief time. However, she has been quite a major pop star in Australia and Europe for more than twenty years now. As far as pop music goes, I tend to think that Kylie's stuff is generally pretty insipid. It began to really border on light dance around a decade ago and now it's moved further into that general realm. I like maybe two or three of Kylie Minogue's tracks, although never for her voice, which seems to require substantial editing in order to actually sound reasonable (and even then, the end result is questionable). I am giving this preamble because, while I think Kylie tends to stray on the safe side by default (her voice), she is also constantly in the business of re-inventing her image and general themes. All the Lovers is one of her newest singles, possibly on her very last album (although I think that's doubtful). The video itself is actually pretty cliche, but it's well-made and builds into a pretty interesting concept towards the end. It's feel-good, but not in an overly patronizing way. And, yes, there's lots of skin here - although as far as I know, absolutely no nudity. So take that as you will. Speaking of Kylie Minogue, it is also true to say that my favourite songs from her library are ones that never really became particularly successful and most constituted some kind of collaboration. See next video... TRACK TITLE: GBI (GERMAN, BOLD, ITALIC) | ARTIST: KYLIE MINOGUE | MATURE: YES | COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: AUSTRALIA/JAPAN As mentioned above, this is one of Kylie Minogue's collaborations. She worked with Japanese DJ, Towa Tei (who does some okay stuff if you're into relatively minimal electronica). I mostly just like the video. The track is okay, but it gets old very quickly, even for me, as a fan of electronic music. I personally think that Towa Tei brings a kind of officious straight-jacket quality to electronic music. In other words, it's not just minimal - it's almost anal. You can hear that it's Japanese. I think that sometimes prevents Towa Tei's own tracks becoming as big as his mixes, especially outside Japan. In any case, I like the video because I think it's actually one of the few examples of Kylie Minogue's apparent acting ability. Er, well, if you can call it "acting". TRACK TITLE: WALKING ON A DREAM | ARTIST: EMPIRE OF THE SUN | MATURE: NO | COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: AUSTRALIA Unfortunately embedding is disabled for all the versions of this video. Please feel free to watch it on YouTube. Empire of the Sun emerged just last year, representing a union between Sydney's Nick Littlemore (Pnau) and Perth's Luke Steele (The Sleepy Jackson). Again, if you are outside Australia, you may not yet be familiar with this group. You may have heard of Pnau...or at least heard some of their music. I'll be sure to share it with you at some stage, anyway. Again, enjoying electronic music of some kind is really a must to like these guys. But if you do, you're in for a treat. They certainly aren't high-budget at all, but I appreciate that from the very beginning, Empire of the Sun placed a great emphasis on costume and theater in their music. If you see them live, this becomes very apparent. Also, their more recent music videos show evidence of an ever-increasing budget (with ever-increasingly outlanding wardrobes and sets). I would say, with some confidence, that Empire of the Sun are one of the very few "concept" groups within their genre in the world. If you like this track, I'd definitely suggest checking out the entire album (which is also called Empire of the Sun). So there you go, the ball is rolling! I'd love to see a great video catalogue here. Maybe I will put together a proper contents section at the top with anchors so that I can link to each video from the beginning. Have fun and enjoy yourselves!
14. When listening to a band, do you ever think, "Why aren't these guys on the radio and mainstream when Justin Bieber and Ke$ha are?" No, I have nothing against those two people, but they were first two names that came to mind. But I've been listening to Pandora a lot lately and they play a lot of songs by bands I have never even heard of. They even play songs that aren't even on Youtube, which disappoints me because I can't listen to the song whenever I want to. Anyways, I thought I would make this thread about unappreciated bands since I know there are a lot of bands like that out there. The first unappreciated bands that I learned about are Celldweller and Blue Stahli. Blue Stahli is so unknown that even Pandora doesn't even have any of their songs. Their music is a mix between rock and industrial. Great party music. Celldweller is more rock than industrial and has a lot of soundtrack songs that are great for making AMVs. A band that Pandora introduced to me is Kidneythieves. Their music has a really good beat. Always love those drums (at least in some songs it's like that). I think another one might be Stabbing Westward. I never really heard of the band before or anywhere else besides on Pandora. And KMFDM, and.. well.. those are the only bands that I remembered. :I That's how unappreciated some bands are. I can't even remember their names, and they aren't even on youtube. But I would have to say that Blue Stahli is probably the most unappreciated band that I know of. And it is probably my favorite band. :V So, what are some unappreciated bands that you know of?
15. Alright boys and girls. Simple thread. Someone posts a song via the YouTube. Or you know any other medium like that. Don't just write the name of the song, I'll stab you. Please try and listen to the whole thing. If someone posts a 15 minute free-form blackjazz odyssey I'll understand if you skip to the end, but otherwise, come on. It's not that much time out of your life. After you give the song a listen, you rate it. Out of 10, because all other scales are for pretentious scum. Write a little critique of the song with the rating. What'd ya like. What pissed you off. What blew your mind. What ever. That way it won't be considered spam, I think. These threads can be a lot of fun so let's do this. Romance Is Boring by Los Compesinos! Enjoy.
16. Are there any fans of IAMX around? It was started by a member of the Sneaker Pimps and if you are into that sound they are pretty good. Their style and presentation are a notch above most bands and they have few but memorable videos. President Video
17. Yea like the heading states this topic is about HIM and hopefully most of you guys know them yea I started to listen to this band when I was in gr8 it is one of the best bands out there and I have all of there cd lol So I like to hear from you guys what are your current fav song of HIM the band it can be more then one song. My fav song today is "Behind the crimson door." 18. You would have to be pretty much not human to say you don't sing your favorite songs and actually be telling the truth. At least in the shower, right? Well, some of us are bound to actually get up the courage and perform covers of our favorite songs on camera. And that's what this thread is for. It's to post videos (or a link to a stream if you have it) of you and/or someone covering a song you like. This'll get some good music out there so people can hear it, plus everyone can hear your awesome talents! I love hearing covers so I'd like to see some of you :] I'll start us off. Here's a cover I did earlier this year by the band Sleeping At Last. The song is very pretty and soft, and is called "Keep No Score." The girl is my friend Cori who is the female vocalist that accompanies my vocals in my band Umbrella Bones. "Keep No Score" By Sleeping At Last God, let her listen With ears to the ground. Let voiceless approval Turn into sound. In death there are hidden, invisible keys That only when swallowed Reveal where they lead. Life is a mess We wake up to. A single thread of a deeper truth. Is this a graveyard To bury her heart? Or is it a garden Where new life will start? â??Cause God, when life here ends, Weâ??ll beg you for more. In temper weâ??ll hate you, But please keep no score. Life, it is a mess we wake up to, A single thread of a deeper truth.
19. I've decided that I want a theme song so fearsome other theme songs would pee themselves from sheer terror. Sadly the only one I could find and share with everyone on chat a few nights ago was Walk Like an Egyption by the Bangles (at least it wasn't Canadian Idiot!). It doesn't incite fear, just random eighties dancing. So maybe I'm not ready for a theme song yet. But that doesn't stop me from asking what everyone else's theme song is or should be and why. Who knows maybe in a few days I can get my own theme song- I know that after a week of dodging agressive old people I might earn one. Hey a girl can dream right?
20. Last night I had some late night work I had take care of so I decided to blare a little Nevermind. While I was cranking out copy and undoubtedly disturbing my neighbors my mind wandered a bit. I started thinking about all of the albums from the nineties that I listened to in the nineties as opposed to the albums from the nineties that I listen to now. So, halting my work due to this fit of anti-inspiration, I made two top ten lists. The fist was comprised of the albums I listened to like crazy in the nineties, the second a list of albums from the nineties that I listen to regularly now. Nineties Albums in the Nineties 1. Pearl Jam â?? Ten 2. Tool â?? Aenima 3. Nirvana â?? In Utero 4. Sublime â?? 40oz to Freedom 5. The Dave Matthews Band â?? Under the Table and Dreaming 6. Green Day â?? Dookie 7. Bush â?? Sixteen Stone 8. Alice in Chains â?? Dirt 9. Bone Thugs â??n Harmony â?? 1999 Eternal 10. The Beatles â?? Anthology 2 Nineties Albums Now 1. Nirvana â?? Nevermind 2. Nine Inch Nails â?? The Fragile 3. Pearl Jam â?? Ten 4. The Foo Fighters â?? The Colour and the Shape 5. The Smashing Pumpkins â?? Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness 6. Curve â?? Doppelganger 7. Marilyn Manson â?? Antichrist Superstar 8. Alice â??n Chains â?? Dirt 9. Elvis Costello â?? Brutal Youth 10. The Roots â?? Things Fall Apart It is pretty crazy how different the lists are. Obviously tastes change and evolve over time, but it is strange how that I donâ??t care much for a lot of albums that I loved growing up. How about you? Jot down a quick list of your favorite albums from 5 to 10 years ago and compare them to albums from that era that you listen to now. If your tastes have changed drastically why do you think they have changed?
21. I'd like to believe that everyone's been in a situation like the one I dealt with today. Of course you have. You have a tune pop into your head at random and you know you've heard it before! The melody stitches itself into all of your thoughts until you FINALLY realize that you remember the name of the song, or at least some of the lyrics! This happened to me this morning. I had a catchy little tune stuck in my head for about 4 class periods until it finally hit me! White Houses by Vanessa Carlton! That was it! So, what song evaded your memory recently?
