Jeebs
Which flashback? I think that there was more than one. I haven't played FF7 in a while. Could you be a little more specific.
Raichu Tamer
The flash back where sephoiroth (sp.) decides to go awol after realising that he was created .
Jeebs
Oh you mean when your at the inn just after you escaped from Midgar and Cloud's telling what happened. I think that you go to the Chocobo Ranch and talk to the people there. Somehow you get chocobo food and a chocobo lure. Then go outside with the chocobo lure materia equiped onto one of your characters and run around the light green area until you find a chocobo. Feed it the food as fast as you can and kill the monsters with it before it finishes the food (whatever you do don't attack the chocobo, or you shall feel its wrath) and you'll get it. Ride it across the swamp and make sure you dodge the snake, it's very powerful. once you get off of the chocobo, it will run away. Go into the cave. Desbreko
Yeah, head south from Kalm, and you'll go through a valley and into the Grasslands area, where you'll find the Chocobo Ranch. There you can buy some greens, to feed to a Chocobo to keep it busy while you're trying to catch it, like Devlin said. You can also buy a Chocobo Lure Materia for 2000 Gil, which will make you run into Chocobos when you get into a battle while running around on some Chocobo tracks. (Some can be found right around the Chocobo Ranch). Once you catch a Chobobo, head across the swamp, avoiding the shadow of the snake (which is called a Midgar Zolom). From there, you should be able to find your way without too much difficulty.
conpiracymonki
Remember to learn the Enemy Skill 'Chocobuckle'! You learn it by hitting a Level 4 (I think) chocobo in a battle. And if you want a fairly OK level up, challenge one of the Midgar Zoloms at the swamp, and be sure to have Enemy Skill equiped in case he does Beta. But remember, even after you kill it, the Zolom will still be in the swamp. Get to the other side of the swamp to see Sephiroth's cooly, and the Turks... :)
Desbreko
Possible Spoilers You get Chocobuckle by using the Enemy Skill Lv.4 Suicide (which can be learned from squirrel-like enemies called Mus, right around that area), on a Chocobo that's on a level that's a multiple of four. Chocobuckle isn't a very useful attack, though, as its damage is based off the number of times you've run away. So, unless you run away a whole bunch, it's not going to do squat in the way of damage. And I really wouldn't try fighting a Midgar Zolom when you first get there, unless you've leveled up a whole bunch... At least not before you save your game, anyway. I tried even after leveling up a pretty good amount (Cloud had Climhazzard, his second Level 2 Limit Break already), and I still failed miserably. It was taking out a party member with like, two or three normal attacks, and then Beta (also an Enemy Skill) would kill all three of them in one hit. Oh, and another thing. Make sure you talk to the Chocobos out in the pen in the Chocobo Ranch. If you do, you'll get your first Summon Materia, Choco/Mog.
conpiracymonki
Yesh. Choco/Mog. The best (lol) summon of all. It has the ability to cast 'Stop' on the enemy, and quite a lot of bosses. It also has 1/16th of a chance of 'Fat Chocobo', lol. [SPOILER?!] Anyway, the first time through, I fought the Zolom only because I was zig-zagging the swamp, and then I saw Sephiroth's killed Zolom. So I went back thinking the moving Zolom was a glitch, got into a battle, and died what with Cloud and Barret dead from the first encounter. Second time through, I guess you know where to level and for how long to do so, so he wasn't that much of a biggie, but still a pretty big problem. [/SPOILER?!] But yes...get Beta (if you can), and maybe Chocobuckle just for the sake of getting all the Enemy Skills. I recommend Climhazzard and Mindblow, and quite a few Pheonix Downs and Cure (or was it Cure2?)
Desbreko
Well, I actually leveled up a lot more the first time through than my second, heh. I didn't even try fighting it the second time through, because I knew that I was at a lower level that the first time, and I didn't have the level 2 spells yet, unlike the first time through. The first time through, I leveled up for a bit when I got to the Wall Market (those houses are great for getting new Limit Breaks when you first get there), and then before I left Kalm to go to the Chocobo Ranch. I stopped leveling about the time I got the level 2 spells, though.
SephirothNIN
If you picked up the elemental materia from Shinra HQ (from answering the mayor's puzzle right on the first try), slap that and fire materia on your armor and beta won't hurt you. It's bozo headbutt that knocks you out of battle is more of a pain, not much you can do about that. Try bringing Cloud cause he's your strongest probably, especially limit-wise. Barret for his back-row attack power. Bring Tifa if she has 2 or more limits learned, otherwise bring Red XIII, and you'll have a better shot at actually beating a midgar zolom. It is a lot easier to just pay the 2000gil and get a freaking chocobo lure (and some greens), but zoloms give good exp and learning beta would make it your strongest spell for a long time. G/S/B Master
Since We're talking about Enemy Skills,How do I get Shadow Flare?
Jeebs
You can get Shadow Flare from the Ultimate Weapon when it's hovering around, or you can learn it from Dragon Zombies in Makou Pit in Disc 3.
Desbreko
Mako pit? ...I assume you mean the place right before you fight the end boss, on the platforms, right? ...But anyway, Ultimate WEAPON only does Shadow Flare as a final attack, before it dies. So, make sure that you have any Enemy Skill Materia equiped on the character that kills it. Ruby WEAPON also uses it, but I'm not sure if it uses it as a final attack or not.
Hinata
I'm now playing FF& and we're at the part where Sephiroth tells Cloud to go to Mt. Nibel..but while I was in the mansion there was a note telling me to go find a man in the basement. I wen there but only found sephiroth..Is there someone else there..and does anyone know the combo..to the Safe!!!!
Jeebs
The combination is: Right-36, Left-10, Right-59, and Right-97. The hard part is putting the combo in before time runs out. NOTE: After you put the combo in, you have to fight a boss. Win and you'll get the Odin materia, Cosmo Memory (Red XIII's Lv. 4 limit break), and the key to the basement. Use the key to open the door in the rocky tunnel just before the place where you found Sephiroth. In the middle coffin you'll find Vincent. Answer his questions correctly, and when you go to leave, he'll join you.
SephirothNIN
Also when you put in the safe combo, u can't go over or else you'll have to start all over. Afterwards, just talk to vincent about Sephiroth, then u have to go into the library place. Not sure why, but a lot of people have told me they talked to vincent and left and nothing happened, so try wandering around down there. Vincent SHOULD join u when u start making ur way back up the hidden spiral staircase. As for the boss in the safe, Lost Number, he's very strong, but he is easily paralyzed. So summon choco/mog or use aeris' Seal Evil and you can beat the crap out of him. Equip deathblow and u'll make the fight go faster, it has 100% chance when the enemy's paralyzed. Depending on the last hit you do to Lost Number when he gets below a certain number of HP, he'll change shape. If you hit him w/ a physical attack you'll face the magic side of LN, hit him w/ a spell and u'll face the physical side.
Desbreko
You got it backwards, for Lost Number. If you hit it with a magical attack last, you'll face the magic side (red), and if you hit it with a physical attack last, you'll fave the physical side (purple). But yes, Choco/Mog helps and/or Aeris' Seal Evil Limit Break helps a lot. When I fought Lost Number on my first time through, I paralyzed it with Choco/Mog, and it wasn't able to anything for the rest of the fight. It didn't even get to change to either of the two sides. I just kept pounding away with level two spells, and I even had to take a round to use some Ethers on my party, and I killed it without even having to heal myself.

GinnyLyn
Regardless of what you think, Ulimate WEAPON always casts Shadow Flare before it dies--incidentally, the person it hits also dies. Out of curiosity, has anyone been able to get all Enemy Skills activated on all three Enemy Skill Materia? I've tried so hard to do that without cheating, but no luck.
Desbreko
Lol...I survived Shadow Flare quite easily, actually. It only did about 6000-7000 damage, leaving me about 3000-4000 HP left. (I love HP Plus Materia). :D Nope, though I only ever use one Enemy Skill Materia when playing through. I did get all but one Enemy Skill on one of them on my old game (which got erased), though. All I needed was that one you get from a Chocobo... I forget the name. If I had known about it back before my game was erased, I would have gotten it.
GinnyLyn
The reason I ask is because it seems that all the techs you need will not always be available at the time you have all three Enemy Skill Materia. Know what I mean? Des, you're talking about ChocoBuckle. ;) Enemy Skill Materia were always my favorite. It's like having 18 (albeit odd) Materia rolled into one. Magic Hammer is one of the best, as well as White Wind. *jabbers on some more about Enemy Skill Materia*
