Hyper
Ok I've designed this new Harpy Deck and I wanted to see what you guys thought. Now, the fact that it is English means I won't have some to-be-released Harpy cards, but I did what I could with English cards, since they arn't that common. Harpy Storm Tribute Monsters: 3 Harpy Lady Sisters Harpy Lady Sisters Harpy Lady Sisters Non-tribute: 18 Harpy Lady Harpy Lady Harpy Lady Witch of the Black Forest Witch of the Black Forest Sangan Sangan Harpy Brother Harpy Brother Harpy brother Mask of Darkness Magician of Faith Magician of Faith Flying Kamikiri #1 Flying Kamikiri #1 Flying Kamikiri #1 Man-Eater Bug Man-Eater Bug Cyber Jar Magic: 15 Elegant Egotist Elegant Egotist Elegant Egotist Pot of Greed Swords of Revealing Light Raigeki Dark Hole Heavy Storm Heavy Storm Monster Reborn Change of Heart Rising Air Current Rising Air Current Axe of Despair Axe of Despair Traps: 8 Shadow of Eyes Shadow of Eyes Mirror Wall Mirror Force Magic Jammer Seven Tools Solemn Judgement Total Monsters: 21 Total M/T: 22 Total cards: 43 Ok I have my obvious Harpy Monsters, Harpy Ladies and Sisters. Witches and Sangans to get out my Harpies. The new-released Flying Kamikiri #1, works like a Sangan 'cept its for Wind Monsters only, essential for a Harpy deck. Harpy Brother, a new Pharoah's Servant, card is a strong 4-star monster (1800). Mask of Darkness and Magicians of Faith are there to use another trap/magic card to strengthen my deck. Man-Eater Bugs for some monster removal, and one of my new favorite cards, Cyber Jar, to get out a lot of my 4-stars out. Elegant Egotist is there for an obvious reason, Pot of Greed to draw cards, with SORL stalling 'till I get the cards I need. Dark Hole, Raigeki are there for some more Monster Removal. Since Harpy's Feather Duster is not avaibale in English I'm using Heavy Storm, till it comes out. Monster Reborn and Change of Heart, are there because they belong in any deck. Rising Air Current is a field card that gives my wind monsters +500 attack. Axe of Despair is great for Power-Ups so thats why I have in my deck and since Mai always powered her Harpies, I thought I'd do the same. Traps are now strengthened with the Mirror Wall and Shadow of Eyes cards from PHS. The others are self-explanatory. So tell me what you think.:)
Makai Kite
Personally, I think it sounds like a great strategy. For casual play, since my friend won't care what language the cards are in, my deck will use Japanese versions of some cards only available in Japanese, such as Ouija Board (ouch, that'll burn a hole in my wallet), Deck Destruction Virus of Death, Black Magician Girl (to go with my Dark Magicians), and Dark Necrophia (I'm just a Bakura fanatic...) Here's my plan for a deck. Tell me what you think, Shadow... Languages of cards provided for reference. If it says "Check" next to a card, it means I already own it. Monster Cards 1. Sangan (2)- (English) 2. Dark Magician (3)- (English) 3. Black Magician Girl (3)- (Japanese) 4. Doma The Angel of Silence (3)- (English) 5. Mystical Elf (3)- (English) 6. Summoned Skull (3)- (English) 7. Rogue Doll (2)- (English) 8. Dark Elf (2)- (English) Trap Cards 1. Ouija Board (D)- (Japanese) 2. Deck Destruction Virus of Death (1)- (Japanese) 3. Reverse Trap (2)- (English) 4. Waboku (1)- Check (English) Magic Cards 1. Death Message (E) (1)- (Japanese) 2. Death Message (A) (1)- (Japanese) 3. Death Message (T) (1)- (Japanese) 4. Death Message (H) (1)- (Japanese) 5. Change of Heart (1)- Check (English) 6. Yami (2)- (English) 7. Dark Hole (1) Check (English) 8. Soul Exchange (1)- Check (English) 9. Sword of Dark Destruction (2)- (English) 10. Monster Reborn (2)- Check (English) 11. Trap Hole (3)- (English) 12. Book of Secret Arts (2)- (English) 13. Gift of the Mystical Elf (2)- (English) Basically, the object of my deck is to power up my Spellcaster monsters, hence there are quite a few Spellcaster power-ups. Yami works for both main types of monsters in my deck; however, it takes the attack and defense of Doma The Angel of Silence by 200 points. The whole point of Gift of the Mystical Elf being in there is to replenish life points after Dark Elf has been summoned. I'm fairly new at this, and this is my second attempt at building a good deck. Alexander
Very nice so far...both of you. Kaiba's Angel: I'd like to mention that Monster Reborn is limited to one per deck...but there are two cards, (Early Burial, Call of the Haunted), that perform the same job, just a little less efficiently. I'd personally cut Yami for Mystic Plamsa Zones: a +500 Attack bonus to all Dark Types (Which is the focus of your deck, kinda) can go a LONG way. It also won't hurt Doma. You also seem to have a *LOT* of Tribute monsters...way, WAY too many. I don't know if you play without tributing like some people do, but in a tribute match you'd be in some serious trouble. Makai Kite
Here's an update: I've ditched every piece of Ouija Board, my Sangans, and the Deck Destruction Virus of Death because they don't really belong in my deck.
Hyper
They actually could, but you need tod ecide what deck your going for. You could do: More of the Ouji board. At least 2. Then for your monsters, I'd try to stay away from the Doma/Dark Magicians. Unless you want to have a DM/Occult deck, but i would still take out Doma. With your monsters, try to replcae some with La Jinns and Blood Vors, and try, and Wall of Illusion is good defense monster with good effect. Maybe some Man-Eater bugs, and a Dark Necrophia, but you'll need 3 fiend-types (Good, Sangans). For monsters, just decide where you want to go as a theme. Already its a wonderful start. For magics Get: Raigeki Pot of greed Swords of Revealing Light Replace your Equip cards with: Axe of Despair (Demon's axe) Malevolent Nuzzler (Demon's Kiss) Black Pendant Traps should look like: Trap holes x3 (you put them in the magic section) Mirror Force Magic Jammer Seven Tools of the Bandit Thats a wonderful start to a deck. Just choose a theme and the rest will be easy.
Makai Kite
Regarding the putting the Trap Holes in the Magic section: I forgot to put them in the Trap section... Also, basically, I'm not going to be building this deck for a while. It needs some MAJOR reworking, as you've stated, Hyper and Alex, plus I'm probably going to work more on a Light-type theme deck to suit my personality more. That will make it easier for my deck to decide what it wants to be, also. But I'm not totally going to give up on this deck. Also, my Light-themed deck has way less Tribute monsters. But I still might take out some of the Tribute monsters in favor of non-Tribute monsters.
Hyper
It doesn't need that much work. But you'll have a hard time turning that deck into a light deck.
Makai Kite
Hyper, you misunderstand. I'm not using THIS deck and turning it into a Light deck, I'm restarting from scratch. The only cards that aren't Light cards are Dark Elf (2) Hane-Hane (1).
Hyper
Okay. I recommend two cards: Gemini Elves, and Kaiser Seahorse.
Maha Vailo
I would take out Mirror Wall because you have pay 2000 life points to use it.
Hyper
I know, but it fits my theme and has a great effect. 2000 lif epoints won't matter. I'll be adding in some Dancing Fairy's later.
Makai Kite
I'm not really going to be working on this for a while. I've been getting too many ideas for decks lately. One of my ideas was a Kuriboh deck with your strategy to boost its Attack up to around 7000, Hyper. Another was a Mai theme deck. These ones aren't very new concepts. Basically another one was a Card Destruction deck, another one was a Water deck, and there was also a Warrior deck. But I think I'm going to do an Anzu deck first, then the Mai deck, and then the Card Destruction deck. Although the Anzu deck will be fairly hard to complete. Solo Tremaine
We already have a Rate My Deck! thread, which this seems to be an extension of. This could have been posted there instead of having a new one created. Seeing as Hyper's posted a link back to that thread anyway, I'm going to close this one. Any more reviews and questions about decks should go there, please.
